DW CS4 + Windows 7 64 bit trouble

I made a clean installation today in a new machine (windows 7) and installed CS4. All seamed OK
Flash works fine, Firewarks works fine, etc.
When I lunch dw the process starts (I can see a Dreamweaver.exe*32 process), but there is no other sign of life at all. No error meesage, nothing. Only the process runninf
I really need to take back online DW. Any ideas?

Hi
The only other thing I can suggest is to try running it as 'Administrator'.

  • Encore CS4/Windows 7 64-bit--When trying to "Build" Encore quits.

After clicking Build, new window opens showing a double bar for burning to DVD. Almost immediately I get error message from Adobe saying Encore has quit, wanting to send Adobe engineers details.
Updated Roxio-Sonic DVD Drivers: "pxengine4_18_16a.exe", Encore still Crashes.
    Have tried defrag/restarts....Nothing works.
How do I get Encore to Build to a DVD?? Or What is going on with W7 64-bit and Adobe.

    Giorgio,
Thanks for the taking the time to respond. Nothing suggested works.
You suggested: build an image of your author or build the DVD in your HD?
I tried both and still get "Program Quits" window, with Encore shutting down without any error message.
    You suggested:  disk problem.
I tried different Sony, and then Verbatim disks. Same problem.
    Additional Project Info:
    Time Line: 1:18:07
    Preferences: Playback Quality: Automatic.
Disc Info: free space thermometer: Blue all the way across.
4.7 GB Used.  3.309 MB free.
Same problem also exists with Premier Pro CS4. PPr will just quit for no reason that is detectable/No error message. I do frequent saves so have not lost anything in PPr, just have to restart program. The problem with PPr is not consistant, whereas with Encore it happens every time when attempting to "Build". I suspect fault is within Encore/PPr  and Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit and latest updates from Microsoft. Both programs ran without problems before. By the way. I tried to update PPr & Encore, and I could not, as I have latest versions.
By the way....You are writing from Italy? Where? My grandparents came to New York from Italy around 1907.
    Thanks for your effort,

  • CS4 Windows 7 64-bit.  InDesign won't run.

Error message: "missing files, please reinstall".  On reinstall, setup hangs at "preparing to install".  How do I get this app loaded and running?

Can't recreate the screen shot - I uninstalled InDesign in order to reinstall.  During the reinstall process for CS4 (only installing the InDesign app) it starts the process
and the first screen displays "Preparing to Install..." - but nothing happens -- I waited for over 10 minutes (twice) and no progress was made.

  • Install Windows 7 64 bit as only OS on Mac Pro

Ok, I'm hugely disappointed with Snow Leopard development. First you still get stuck with 32 bit kernel since there are no official 64 bit drivers for my printers, scanners, cameras. Second Photoshop CS 3 does not work with it, and no version of Nikon Capture NX works either (apart from it being 32 bit anyway). So my option is to stay with Leopard (with chess as only 64 bit app), or alternatively to go Windows 7 64 bit on my Mac Pro and try to take full advantage of all the hardware I spent thousands of dollars on (since there is 64 bit Photoshop and Capture NX works as well, and there are 64 bit drivers for my peripherals), and the OS can actually use all 32 GB.
So, my question is has anyone successfully installed Windows 7 64 bit as the only OS? Did you have any issues? In particular, are there any issues with DVD ejection, and screen brightness control? Are there official Apple drivers for these devices for Windows 7 64 bit?

You don't get 64-bit software until there is demand, and a need, and the hardware to further that development.
Game developers are finding they can work and compile much more efficiently.
Snow Leopard is a launching point, not a destination. Efficient use of more than 2-4 cores is going to take time.
And Intel is there helping companies and bring out refinements in compilers. Then add 1-2 yrs to actually deploy, plus the time to master those tools, and not everyone will or can.
Adobe built their code on Carbon code foundation - a big mistake - and reached the end of where that takes them. Their CS4 Windows is 64-bit, CS5 for Mac OS will or might be but ground up rework into Cocoa code, however OS X does a lot to help use memory, but if you aren't working with 1-2-3GB files you may not.
Nehalem has a lot more bandwidth, on the fly up clock of cpu. Nvidia GTX 200s also respond dymanic and dramatically to small demands to ram up GPU performance. Even launching a program kicks everything into high gear and you can see that charted with various tools (more easily in W7 than in OS X). And to recover to lower energy and heat as quickly. Going green to cut the costs of running servers and systems.
The Mac Pro 2008 was the first with a full 64-bit Unified EFI (UEFI 2.x). Apple, Intel, Microsoft and other members of EFI Group only officially supported EFI on 64-bit post Vista SP1, which was less than 18 months ago, around the time the 2008 Mac Pro came out. That's pretty good.
Yes, Mac OS uses a PA/E memory addressing.
Microsoft used millions of beta users to help identify bottlenecks in drivers during W7 development. And 100s millions of Vista users along with help of Intel engineers in hardware and software. No reason that won't happen with Snow Leopard eventually.
CUDA and GPGPU / Physix are not new, OpenCL is a new standard and name that may be more open to more types of uses and applications - over time.
OS 9 had trouble with Finder. Funny enough, so has OS X, and now it is suppose to have gotten its own multi-thread makeover - it needed it badly and was/is the source of a lot of problems, lost threads or processes and getting lost. We'll have to see.
I think there is a huge market today for a system built around the Core i7 with 2-4-6 cores and 6-12GB of memory with GTS 250 or above (not the entry level offered last year or the GT120 today).
A lot of people don't want to leave XP which is 32-bit and how old is that? I think they'll like W7, if they invest in new hardware.
Your time frame is not how systems evolve.
What would you do you can't do now? very little is my bet. And when the Mac Pro came out 3 yrs ago, a lot of drivers broke and had to be re-engineered and vendors prefer evolution over revolution. The 2008 Mac Pro early on had a number of hardware issues dealing with power management. Happens every step of the way.
Your Mac will probably still serve your needs, whether in 10.6.9 or 10.7 or Win7 and beyond.

  • PS CS4 shuts down when opening a new document in Windows Vista 32 bit

It worked fine for many years ... I recently had to do a system restore, start from scratch installing all programs.
Now PS has problems (everything else works fine in CS4 as far as I know).
It opens in the regular screen ....until I open a new photo. The JPEG appears briefly ... then the program shuts down.
I performed the color profile rollback, reinstalled like I was told to by Adobe Support Advisor ... still doesn't work. Extremely frustrating. Since the rollback, it reinstalls "With Errors". ???
I am on Windows Vista 32-bit, 4GB RAM with SP 2 installed. I have been around the web reading comments on forums, nothing is working. To me it seems like a simple fix ... but I just need to know what to do. *I am highly reluctant to go into the reg settings and start editing, like some suggest on these forums. That is just asking for trouble and having to do another painful full system restore.
The suite has worked very well for years ... until now. And just with PS I am having the problems ??? I don't get it. Troubleshooting not my specialty.
    Any help would be appreciated.

It seems that this is the good old "I think it's 64bit" error. It tries to install 64bit components on your 32bit system. This specifically comes down to some DLLs on your system being missing or the wrong version, possibly even a hardware driver returning some false info (processor controlelr etc.) I'd check Windows Update and verify the SP2 is installed correctly. Also make sure your MSVC 2008 runtime and possibly .NET 1.1 are isntalled correctly. Verify in your device manager that the CPU is detected correctly and Windows isn't running in some sort of compatibility mode. if there came a specific set of drivers with your motehrboard, installing them alone might fix a lot of things, as then you actualyl may also see Windows Update install some components for the first time that may be missing currently...

  • CS4 and Windows 7 64-bit

I have CS4 Design Premium and am looking at buying a new computer that will have Windows 7 64-bit.  My problem is that I can't seem to get a straight answer about whether or not it's compatible.
I called Adobe support and asked him directly and he said no, CS4 will not work on Windows 7 64-bit.  After a little more digging I suspect that he was doing what sales people do and was trying to up-sell me to CS5.  I'd rather not do that if I can avoid it, a new computer is expensive enough by itself.  I searched these forums 10 or 12 pages deep and I've seen a few threads about this very thing, some people are having trouble here and there and others got it resolved and it's working fine.
Seeing that some people got it working gives me hope, but I don't want to go through a troubleshooting nightmare either.
Can someone here set the record straight please?
I appreciate any help I can get
    Thanks,
    jay e

As Dov has already stated that CS4 is compatible with Windows 7 and it should install and run fine.
There are various component which get installed along with Adobe Softwares hence it will be hard to state where exactly the installation is stopping without actually viewing the logs.
Please share the install logs from the below locations :-
    • Windows 32 bit (XP, Vista, 7): \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers\
    • Windows 64 bit (XP, Vista, 7): \Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Installers
The log filename includes the product name and install date, followed with ".log.gz." The extension .gz indicates a compressed format.
NOTE :- Place the log file on Pastebin.com and share the link here.

  • Contribute CS4 and CS5 file transfer (publish) problem on Windows 7 64 bit

Have a problem with Contribute CS5 and CS4  on Windows 7 64 bit where upon editing a webiste for example to add a new page (or edit an existing one) and then clicking on "publish" a blank page appears on the website. To explain this further, If i make the required changes to the page and select the option to publish the file later then the file wirtten to the PC appears to be ok and has all the changes, but as soon as I publish it, only a blank page appears on the web server.  ie the upload (ftp) process does happen but the content of the page is being stripped out somewhere during the filt transfer process.
I have editied the same site with CS4 on windows XP without any problems.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated
    Thank you
    Chris

I seem to have solved the issue by downloading this install file
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.2/enu/AdbeRdr920_en_US.exe
    which installs successfully.

  • Trouble installing cs2 upgrade in Windows 7 64 bit

I have recently bought a new computer and I am transferring programs.  I have deactivated cs2 on my old computer.  I am trying to install it on my new computer with OS windows 7 64 bit.  The CS2 is an upgrade from adobe Photoshop 5.02.  When I try to install the cs2 upgrade it asks for validation of ownership of Photoshop 5.02.  It does not recognize the cd when I put it in the cd player.  I have not been able to install Photoshop 5.02 onto my new computer using the cd (even when I use the compatibility trouble shooter and change settings to xp service pack 2. I have transfered the 5.02 over to my new computer via USB and can even run it.  However, CS2 upgrade will not recognize 5.02 even when I browse to the program folder.  Any other thoughts or suggestions would be very appreciated.

Find the registry keys for the program on your old machine, export them to a file, import them on the new system. regedit is your friend. Should be in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Adobe somewhere...

  • Why is Flash CS4 so terrible in Windows 7 64 Bit?

    Hello,
Well, I still have yet to see any posts or answers to posts that address the following problems with Flash CS4 on Windows 7 64 Bit:
    1. Flash takes half of forever to load.
    2. Flash is slow.
    3. Flash will not allow to Test Movies or Test Scenes. (This one is the most maddening and irritating.)
    4. Will not publish files due to an incorrect parameter. (Notice it doesn't say WHICH one.)
    Basic Specs:
    Windows 7 64 Bit OS
    8GB of RAM
    Intel i5 750
I would really hate to have to revert to Windows XP just to use Flash CS4 reliably and I certainly am in no mood to purchase yet ANOTHER upgrade to CSx.
Windows 7 has been out for around a year. Certainly someone at Adobe can illuminate why this program functions so poorly in Windows 7.
    Thank you.
    MGL

Oh, and if by chance you, too, run Windows 64 Bit and Flash CS4, I would appreciate if you could share any thing you did to your system or installation to make it work better.
Please don't just say, "Well, it works for me, blah blah blah."
    Thanks.

  • 64 Bit Photoshop CS4 running on 64 Bit WIndows 7 - does it work for anyone?

    Hi,
Is anyone running 64 BI Photoshop CS4 running on 64 Bit WIndows 7 without any problems?   Mine is totally unusable due to wild erratic brushes (clone, healing, eraser and more).  I have had zero success with Adobe.  Two weeks after posting a support incident, they finally responded with an answer that had absoutley nothing to do with my support ticket.  Unbelievable.  SO maybe I'll get another response in 2 more weeks.
I have another thread that explains my problems, but that is not the purpose of this post. For this I am interested in what configurations people are using with 64 bit CS4 and 64 bit Windows 7, especially, what graphics cards are you using in the situations where there are no problems.  I will even buy new graphics cards, because I have to.  I cannot work as is.
Is anyone using dual graphics cards successfully with 64 bit Win 7 and 64 bit CS4.  if so, what cards?
    Thanks

PS CS4 does not support dual cards (or dual GPU cards) so the other card in the case is not being used.
    Set up is simple:
    M4A79T delux MB
8 gigs of corsair dominator ram timings 8,8,8,24 2T CMD4GX3M2B1600C8
    AMD 965 Quad 140 watt
    ATI 5870 with 9.11 drivers
    PS CS4 Extended 11.0.1 update
    Simple USB keyboard
    MS Comfort Optical 3000 mouse
Windows 7 professional 64 bit plus updates. Aero turned on.

  • Need to Re-activate CS4 after upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 (32 bit)

I have a laptop running Vista 32-bit with Lightroom 2.7 and Photoshop CS4 installed.  I'm planning to upgrade the computer from Vista 32-bit to Windows 7 32-bit, upgrading in place to avoid having to reformat and reinstall all the software.  Will Photoshop still be activated after the upgrade or will I need to re-activate it?  If I need to reactivate, will the OS change make the activation process think the software has been moved to a new computer?  It is currently activated on two machines (one of which is this laptop) as it is and don't want the activation wizard to think I'm putting it on third machine in violation of the license.  Should I de-activate it before upgrading the OS and then re-activate once the system upgrade is complete?  After the OS change I plan to upgrade the Adobe software to Lightroom 3 and PS CS5 - does the activation of CS4 even matter in that case?  Anyone done a Vista->Win7 upgrade in place and offer any suggestions?

You are a brave man indeed, John.
An in-place upgrade is still a bad idea though.

  • Contribute CS4 on Windows 7 64 bit - Attempting to edit existing website results in a blank page

    Hi,
I am an IT Tech and not an Adobe Contribute user so my apologies in advance for wrong terminology.
I just installed a new Windows 7 64 bit PC for a client and installed their copy of CS4 Contribute.
When they attempt to edit their website the page being edited ends up blank.  We can't work out why.
The same software was on an Windows XP PC and is the same website that they could edit previously without any problems.
Can anyone assist with settings or advice on potential incompatibility issues?
    Thanks
    Chris

    Chris
This one is most likely related to permissions - Contribute simply does not have access to write the temporary file, but still attempts to anyway (resulting in a file being created / cleared on the server, but no actual information being written to the file).
This still appeared to be a problem even when running the application in Administrator mode.
I may get flamed by the super security-concience techs, but this worked for me:
Find the location of the temporary site / draft folder (default is C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Adobe\Contribute CS4\en_US\Sites)
Select the folders in the "Sites" folder
Right-click one of them and go to "Properties"
Click the security tab and click "Edit"
    Add the user "Everyone"
Select the "Everyone" user and check "Full Control"
    Hit OK, then OK again
I can't guarantee it will work, but see how you go.
    Thanks
    Dan

Boot Camp doesn't install the drivers. You have the drivers on a separate USB device if you followed directions. Once in Windows connect the USB drive with the driver software. It should startup automatically and install the drivers.
You don't even need to do that. As downloading the drivers from within Boot Camp Assistant can be unreliable, it is better to get the package directly from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1638
Copy the .zip file to a USB flash drive or burn it to a DVD in OS X. Install Windows as normal, insert the flash drive/DVD in Windows, copy the .zip file to the hard drive, extract it, then run the setup executable.

  • Photoshop cs4 11.0.2 update fails windows 7 64 bit

    Hello..
I finally got upgraded to windows 7 64 bit and and installed the cs4 download I got awhile back and it installed cs4 11.0 no problems. I got every update to install but the 11.0.2 update fails and I get this message
    "Adobe Setup has stopped working"
I have tried every thing I read, run as admin, move stuff out of appdat folder, reinstall.... reboot 39 times , I have no windowd defender or AV running at all everything I can find on here does not work and I get this error..... I read everyone gets this error except a darn few lucky souls..... so I tried compatibilty modes, it does the same error from win 98 all the way to win 7, xp same error vista same error it don't matter what version of windows this update seems to just stop working, so I did a troubleshooter on it and it determined that this program is incompatible with windows... I tried downloading it from Adobe and tried that... same error everytime.... don't matter if its through adobe updater or direct download this update fails and I decided to try 11.0.1 and it does the same so I guess PS CS4 11.0 is really not updatable to 11.0.2. and adobe suggests you to go cs5 to solve this problem. Except their updates fail to it looks like on this forum....
This is the problem details I get if it helps, because it does not leave a log for some reason.

I have tried run as admin, same error pops up, I tried giving myself ownership and special permissions and everything to the PS folder since the exe is read only thinking thats why it wont update... I ran the clean script and reinstalled and tried every trick known to man ( well this forum and several others found on google) and nothing seems to work, the 11.0.2 update itself crashes, so I am just going to assume its windows fault because it does seem to work for other people....but it does seem to crash on mac I have read too... I have UAC disabled and no AV installed trying this so I installed my trend micro AV and checked and the puter is virus free so am not sure why I can not use the update but here is the screen shots I get....
I run setup.exe as admin I get this
then when I click on next, with 2 seconds I get this popping up, count 1,2 bam their it is..
so no matter what I do I get this error on 11.0.1 or 11.0.2 updates in every mode or permissions you can give...
