DW CS5.5 Won't Open on WinXP Machine

Yesterday, DW froze during use. I killed the process through Task Manager and since then I cannot open DW. I get as far as loading server behaviors in the opening splash frame and then it hangs.
I re-installed DW and still no luck.
I now plan to completely uninstall/install a fresh copy of the entire CS5.5.Suite, but before I do I want to keep a copy of my DW Manage Sites Settings. I have about 50-60 sites I have setup and would really be lost if I could not retain them and apply them once I re-install.
Where are the Manage Sites Settings stored in DW on my local machine so I can take a copy of them?

Awesome Murray. Deleting the cache file did not do it, but when I deleted my entire Configuration folder, then I was able to re-connect to Dreamweaver. And, my Sites Settings are still intact.
Step 1 -- making a backup of them (NOW) !!!!!

Indesign CS5.5 won't open/start after a recent windows 8 update -- how to fix?

I just had a Windows 8 auto update happen and then my Indesign CS5.5 won't open/start. When I go to open it, it gets to the usual screen but then an error message shows up saying that Windows has encountered a problem and needs to shut the program down, and will notify me if a solution exists. What to do?

Do you see anything useful in the Event Viewer logs? Have you tired rebooting? Does it start if you log in with a different username?

Why photoshop cs5.5 won't open on yosemite?

I have photoshop cs5.5 (installed on a macbook air running on yosemite), it had been working perfectly and suddenly it won't open. I get a message: "install flash player" (already done, as well as having installed the java se6 /2014 runtime and installed and uninstalled photoshop itself several times) but the only thing I see is that never-ending spinning color wheel. I've been through many threads and forums but haven't found a solution to it. It's worth mentioning that it only happens with photoshop, as i'm able to work fine with other adobe apps (illustrator, in design, bridge,etc)
Does anyone know what might have happened and a possible solution?

Without proper system info such as what Mac and what version of OSX nobody can say much and the logs from your Log Viewer would also help. Well, whatever. As a start run teh cleaner tool and reinstal lthe software.

Photoshop cs5.1 won't open pictures

For about a week and a half now I have been trying to open pictures in Photoshop cs5.1, and they won't open. They are all JPEG files that I am trying to open, I know it is not the files especially because when I try to create a new document nothing comes up.
I would really appreciate an answer as soon as possible. -Thanks

First verify the image is fine, by loading the image in another image editor, there should be a free one included with your OS. If it can read the file with no errors and you can see the image, then the next step it to reset your photoshop preferences. Next is to update your video driver. Can other formats be viewed?

Premiere Pro CS5.5 Won't Open - Mac

At first I had problems with AE not opening (hanging at "Initializing Media Core") and the dynamic link to some of the composiitons in my PP project, so I called support. I spent an hour and a half with a lady controlling my computer, and my AE problem seemed to disappear. We hung up, and then I opened my PP project again, and the dynamic link 'started' to work, but then PP randomly shut down. And now I have a PP problem...
I tried reopening and it loaded the project, glitched a little bit on the screen, then it said "Sorry a serious error has occured that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project." Now I get it EVERY time I open a project.
So I called support again, and after spending 3 hours with a guy, he told me I had to create a new user account and migrate all of my information there, but he said he could offer me no assistance in this area. I must find out for myself. So I followed the instructions here.
"pick a short user name for your new account. then run the following terminal commands
sudo mkdir /users/newshortname
sudo ditto ~ /users/newshortname
You'll have to enter your admin password (which you won't see) after the first command. that's normal. This will copy your current home directory to /users/newshortname. Then go to system preferences->accounts and create a new account with the short name newshortname. You'll get a popup saying that a home directory by that name already exists and asking if you want to use it. say yes."
As I figured (after waiting a day for all of my files and preferences to transfer to the new account) I had the same problem. I've tried deactivating, re-installing, removing the media core and then putting it back (with the help of Adobe support), and nothing is working. I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.8.
Someone, please offer some assistance. I have been out of commision from editing for three days now, and I have a bunch of deadlines coming up.

1. I am using third party plug ins, and I understand that might be causing an issue, but I've also tried opening a new project with nothing in it at all, and that won't open.
2. Premiere Pro quits after the project loading bar or after I create a new project.
3. I used a lot of files! mov, mts, psd, ai, png, jpeg, and AE compositions through dynamic link.
4. The project has about five sequences. They range from 1 minute to 4 minutes.

I haven't changed anything that I can think might possibly affect anything adobe. The uninstall programs don't work and the install program off of the CD won't open.

InDesign CS5 file won't open

At my work, we are working on formatting a book in InDesign. We are using the same base template for each file. I created a front matter document with a table of contents (TOC), list of figures (LOF), list of tables (LOT), acronyms, and glossary using that base template. Everything worked fine; I was able to generate the TOC, LOF, and LOT, and could work with the file with no problem. Then I saved and closed the file. Later that day, I was unable to open the file.
The message I get includes the statement, "You may not have permission or the file may be open already."
No one else had opened it and there are no lock files. The other person using InDesign also cannot open it. I made a copy of the file and saved it in another location and still could not open it.
The files are all on our network. We are using InDesign CS5 and Windows7 (64-bit). The only difference between this file and the others are the modifications that I made to some TOC paragraph styles so two paragraphs could be displayed side-by-side in the TOC (i.e., Chapter 1 Introduction all on one line, where Chapter 1 comes from one paragraph and Introduction comes from another by having no leading on one paragraph style).
Can anyone suggest a solution for this? This is rather urgent as the client needs the book by the end of next week.

CS5.5 won't open Adobe Help, only browser

Hi all,
I am having some problems with the Adobe Community Help application.
I am running CS5.5 under Windows 7 64-bit on a Samsung NP700G7C laptop.
I noticed today that clicking links in the Adobe Help application did nothing at all, unless they were right-clicked and opened in a new tab of the application.
As this behaviour was frustrating, I followed the steps on this page:

Upon first run, the reinstalled Adobe Help application offered to download local content, which I allowed.
Several odd things then happened:
Even after downloading the available content, and without any CS5.5 applications open, Adobe Help wouldn't close - it minimised to the system tray. This wasn't how it used to behave.
Clicking help from any CS5.5 application opens its help page in my web browser, not Adobe Help.
There is no option in Adobe Help to use it rather than the browser (contrary to what's described in the final issue on this page: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/known-issues-community-help.html)
So now that Adobe Help is reinstalled and updated, how do I get the CS5.5 applications to "see" and use it again?

Help Manager does indeed stay in the tray, looking for updates. But since updates don't happen all that frequently in reality, feel free to quit or kill the app via task manager. Acrobat X should open local help —it's possible that you many not have the PDF in their shared docs folder.
Also, Creative Suite updates don't include Adobe Help Manager or the Community Help Client app — so you may need to do one more thing to thoroughly uninstall the app:
1. Uninstall Adobe Help via "Add Or Remove Programs" utility (Windows)
2. Delete the following directory: %appdata%/chc.4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1 (Windows)

InDesign CS5.5 won't open in OS X 10.10

I just installed Yosemite and hadn't had any troubles with anything until I tried to open InDesign CS5.5. It keeps telling me, "To open “Adobe InDesign CS5.5.app” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime." I've searched for Java SE 6 and cannot find a way to download it. I downloaded Java 8, but the program is still not opening and I still get the warning dialog. I have work I need to get done and cannot work on till this is fixed. Any help is appreciated.

How can I install the latest Camera Raw? I've just bought a Nikon D610 and am shooting in RAW but my CS5.1 won't open the files. I'm running CR version 6.7.0.339 but I can't install more up to date one as only running Windows Vista. Please help!

I also tried to install the latest DNG converter and that looks to have worked but not quite sure what's happened as I still can't open the files. Thanks in advance for any help.

You can purchase an upgrade, but the only options available as a qualifying previous product are CS5 and CS5 Extended and Acrobat X Suite. It isn't entirely clear if CS5 also includes CS5.1 or not, so I'd suggest using the Chat Now button over at the side to clarify.

CS5 document won't open

I have a 55-page CS5 document that will not open. I sent it to our local IT help desk, with no luck. Of course, this goes to press tomorrow.
I'm on a Mac.
Any options out there?

Ask in the whatever product forum and be much more specific - exact system info, document details and so on.

Illustrator CS5.5 won't open

Recently purchased Design Premium CS5.5 and all programs have been working up until yesterday.
Illustrator gets stuck on the loading screen.
Usually it stops when reading fonts -but not always and never on the same font and no new fonts have been installed since the program install.
I've left it over night hoping for an error message but I haven't gotten anything. Just stays on the loading start up screen.
All other programs in the package work fine (eve an old CS3 version of illustrator that is still installed).
I have uninstalled the program, reboot and reinstalled and the problem is still happening.
Any one know what the problem might be or how to fix it?

I don't use a font management program. Should I get one to check for a corrupt font?
ETA - I backed up my fonts, uninstalled them and it still won't load. Getting stuck on "initializing" which is the same as what happened 50% of the time before.
I'm not convinced that fonts are the issue but I've got my fingers crossed cause that seems like an easier fix.

CS5 Programs Won't Open

Hello,
I have been using CS5 for a month or so on my recently purchased windows 8 laptop (I also had it installed on my older laptop). Just last week, all the programs spontaneously stopped opening. For example, when I click on the shortcut photoshop (either 32 bit or 64 bit), the photoshop.exe file, or a psd file, it looks like it is loading but then just fades away. No loading window and no error message. When I look at the task manager when trying to open it, photoshop will pop up along with the application manager, but then they both disappear. An identical thing happens with any of the cs5 software.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling from my cd. I tried using a system restore point to a time before the programs stopped working. I tried to delete my preferences (as is the common response to this). I tried running as administrator and running in compatibility mode. Nothing seems to get it to work.
If anyone could figure this problem out, I would be extremely grateful. I have school work to do and this is putting quite the breaks on my term.
For a little technical info, I have a Samsung series 7 Chronos Laptop with Windows 8, i7 processor, Nvidia Geforce GT 640m, and 8 GB Ram.

Ai cs5.1 won't open after Yosemite install

hi - all my other adobe products open, except for ai cs5.1.
the msg that I receive is: An unknown error has occurred (-50). Adobe illustrator will quit now.
has anyone else experienced this?

iPhoto is at version 9.1.5 and the Mac OS is at 10.6.8. Have you run your software updates?

Illustrator CS5.1 won't open on iMac running Lion

Hello,
I have an iMac I bought this year running Lion, and just installed Adobe CS5.5 Production Premium. All the applications will open except for Illustrator, which gives me the error message: "You can't open the application Adobe Illustrator CS5.1 because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."
What does this mean, and is there a way to fix it?

It means that you cannot run Illustrator on a Power PC version of a Mac but if you have Lion installe then you have an Intel iMac so this should not be a problem.
I have two suggestions one is to go to the User/Username/Library/Preferences and trash com.adobe.illustrator.plist and if you also have it com.adobe.illustrator.plist.lockfile. The firt oe you should have the second one I ahve just observed for the first time on my Mac so I am not certain of why it is there. But if you have it trash it as well.
The second is to repair yur permissions.
The third suggestion is to unistal and reinstall the Suite usig the Adobe installer utility in the Uttilities Folder.
