DW CS5 bugs seen

System specs
Mac pro Early 2009 2.66 mhz 12 gigs ddr3
Osx 10.6.3
I don't know if anyone else has seen any of these issues, so i will post them in hopes that there may be a fix.
Downloaded creative suite cs5 for mac (trial)
Installed Photoshop/Dreamweaver
Testing how each work on Osx 10.6.3
Observations
1) can't always upload pages to ftp server (when clicling on file upload arrows Put and get will be grayed out) some times if I save the file before trying to upload the put/get option are available. sometimes I don't need to save the file first as the put/get option are available. And sometimes Imust click inside my page to be uploaded several time, and or save the file several times before I can get the Put/get option. I have even had to sometimes go to force quit to turn DW off and restart it to get DW working again
2) DW will not always shut down. ( when going to Dreamweaver>Quit Dreamweaver nothing will happen)
3) Copy paste of text inside of source code
I have had issues with DW not pasting a peice of code in to the page I am working on correctly. If I was to put
<hr /><br />
<p class="datatable"><strong>Want to be a host?</strong></p>
                   </div>
                   I mught see something like
<hr /><br />
< ="datatable">< g>Want to be a host?</strong></ >
This is vauge I know. I should of copied it down, but if it happens again I will add the exact code
                   </div>
4) when adding text from a docx I will sometime get the microsoft preferences embeded in the source code. so if I try to higliht all the new text from the docx tehn tell DW to reformat the text to one I use as a standard, DW will either only remove some of the original Docs embeding, So therefore I have to go into the code manuualy and remove all the microsoft source doe manually.
I know this is a bit, but before I decide to upgrade to cs5 I would like to know it works properly.
Just a side not
The Ftp bugs in cs4 have seemed to be taken care of( slow ftp transfer/files not being uploaded(even though dw said they were successfully uploaded even after several tries) would have to check each update to make sure ftp worked properly
Dw seems to work/open much faster.
Now I do have parallels for mac and haven't setup DW on it yet for testing, but I was hoping not to have to use two os's at once just to do my work.

My keychain assess requests will not take my password that I know is correct and I have been in the fix problem for the issue and at first it had a problem and now I go in and it says there is no problem. This was since I installed CS5 suite.
I worked with someone yesterday for the ftp problem because the site management would not keep the ftp information and I had to reinsert it each time. Well, that part was fixed but I can only drag and drop the files into the remote server and the "put arrow" says there is an error. He closed the case thinking it was going to work.
Now, with another site I can't get the connection to the FTP even though I checked with the host and found out that I had all the FTP info correct.
I haven't worked with any of the other sites as yet.
Thanks! Elvi

  • Major CS5 bug where Smart Objets get thin horizontal lines??

    Our prepress company has come across and proven out a rendering bug in Photoshop CS5 for Mac.  It has caused us to consider totally avoiding CS5 until it's fixed.  We are finding that CS5 is putting in several randomly generated thin horizontal lines about a pixel in height and varying widths, in cases where CS4 does not.  Some files get these lines when converting live "smart objects" from one ICC colorspace to another.
    I am providing a link to a specific file that shows proof of this bug.   The example file has an embedded sRGB profile.  To see the bug, set you working RGB colorpsace to AdobeRGB, and set your Policies to "Ask".  During opening, USe the embedded profile. Then convert it to the AdobeRGB 1998 colorspace using File Convert, and do not rasterize the smart objects.  You will see lines in the lower right hand corner after it's converted.  Now go back and rasterize the smart object layers first, and these lines will not show up.  And now do the same with CS4, without rasterizing the smart objects and you will not get lines.  CS5 bug, CS4 no bug.
    Let me know what you find on your end.  Can any of the adobe employees document this for me and get it on the fix list?
    Test file:
    http://www.mediafire.com/?ant3ya9aaft1a95

    I also head a Graphics/Prepress department at a medium format digital print shop, with next day service to the casino industry. My two cents worth, CS4 did not have this issue, CS 4 was a Cocoa app and CS5 a Carbon app, to me that is not a reason why a major software company like Adobe has multiple leading products (PS, ID, Ill) that cause these kind of problems. I can't count the times my print opp's have come back with a file showing lines. Now, I have told my designers that we should also be looking for the lines, now that we know about it.
    I have printed fabric before and it is a pain to print one and see if there are lines in it, but which is more painful, printing one to test? Or trashing $3k worth of fabric? I know this works for one image printed x times, but multiple images printing a couple each to fulfill the job would be a huge ordeal. Adobe doesn't understand that yet. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, maybe we should all start calling tech support daily.
    I saw a post suggesting rasterize pdf's in lower PS to work around, clearly an ad agency/freelance solution, not a production house solution. Opening and closing PS12 and PS11 somewhere around 15 to 20 times, per work station?  We process somewhere around 40 minimum pieces of art a day, and sometimes double that. I could rant on this suggestion all day.
    The bottom line is Adobe has no clue where it is coming from, they are more worried about the iPad/mobile industry right now.

  • Flash CS5 bug - clicking on and off "allow smoothing" in bitmap properties dialog crashes Flash

    I had a situation where I was clicking on and off the allow smoothing checkbox in a bitmap properties dialog to observe the difference in appearance and that crashed Flash - Windows 7 Professional, Flash CS5 Professional 11.0.2.489, 8GB Ram - there seem to be a number of bugs like this because I've seen a number of cases in different places in Flash CS5 where doing something normal just crashes it.  Kind of annoying when you are in the middle of something and haven't been saving your work every 5 seconds.

    Hi,
    We have a problem with our action script and seems to be using cookies of clients computers.
    We have a action script as under ..........----------
    function my_function38()
        var _loc1 = my_xml.firstChild.childNodes;
        totalNodes = _loc1.length;
        cityname_mc.fl_name_mc.fl_name.text = my_xml.firstChild.childNodes[cnt].attributes.name;
        rate_mc.rate_anim_mc.fl_rate.text = my_xml.firstChild.childNodes[cnt].attributes.rate;
        fl_month.text = my_xml.firstChild.childNodes[cnt].attributes.month;
    // End of the function
    my_Date = new Date();
    my_xml = new XML();
    my_xml.load("DEL.xml?uniqueID=" + getTimer());
    my_xml.onLoad = my_function38;
    my_xml.ignoreWhite = 1;
    if (!cnt)
        var cnt = 0;
    } // end if
    ++cnt;
    if (cnt >= totalNodes)
        cnt = 0;
        gotoAndPlay(1);
    else
        gotoAndPlay(1);
      Xml Data as under
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding= "UTF-8" ?>
    <cities>
      <city name="Delhi" rate="£365" month=""file location"></city>
    </cities>
    What is happening is we are storing many swf files and xml files for different cities on server location 1 with same code but are just changing the xml file to be picked.
    I.e
    DELHI.XML    DELHI.SWF
    BANGKOK.XML  BANGKOK.SWF
    SYDNEY.XML SYDNEY.SWF
    All are in one folder and we are just changing the xml path in fla files and loading the new swf.
    Then we are giving out swf urls to an advertising company which is in turn picking up swf files from sever location 1 and displaying the same on their website.
    The problem is each time we access the swf file on there site the data doesnot display properly. It is picking up the wrong xml data. When we check the fla the path for xml is ok. What we think is it is saving swf or xml in cookies of user computer. Is there anyway to prevent it from happening.
    We Are using Adobe Flash CS5.
    Thanks

  • CS5 bug rendering anti-aliased text in 'Save for web'

    Seems like there's a bit of a bug when using 'Save for web and devices' with thin weights of type in CS5 for Mac. Although thin type looks fine while working in Illustrator, as soon as you enter the 'Save for web' dialogue, it gets badly mangled. Looks like this issue has been present at least since CS4. It does not happen in Photoshop. It looks particularly bad for light text on a dark background.
    Some people may say "sure, Illustrator is not really meant for intensive bitmap work". However, with features like 'pixel preview' and 'snap to pixel', Illustrator has (generally) become a very viable tool for web design, and personally I much prefer it to Photoshop. It is also clear that Adobe intends it to be usable in this manner. So the anti-aliasing render bug is definitely a problem. Just surprised they didn't address it when CS5 was born.
    I put up some example images on http://www.thesheep.co.uk/2011/06/24/illustrator-save-for-web-anti-aliasing-problems/ to illustrate the problem.
    Does anyone have any clever work-arounds for this? It's a bit annoying to have to move stuff over to PS before exporting, but maybe that's what I have to do. Hopefully Adobe will address this soon.

    Hi,
    I am experiencing this same problem of pixelated gifs when I use the "save for web" dialog from Illustrator, but this solution has not worked for me. I have tried the trick of using type-optimized anti-aliasing, but it doesn't change the output at all. I've done this from within the "Image size" tab as well as through Effect>Rasterize>Options)Anti-aliasing: Type Optimized. My image is a logo made entirely from text, although for some of it I used "outline path", so I'm not sure if it still qualifies as text...I'm a newbie at this stuff, so the technical details are still quite opaque to me.
    Does anyone know of a solution to this that does not require me to add Photoshop to my workflow?
    I'm using Illustrator in CS5, version 15.0.2.
    Thanks in advance
    Jonathan

  • InDesign CS5 bugs!

    I was working in inDesign on my Mac this morning without a problem, then suddenly it started to give me several errors at once. When I tried to save my new file, it gave me error code: 0 and said "cannot save under a new name. The file (lots of numbers and letters) is damaged."
    I tried resetting the preferences in the applications folder manually and it still doesn't work. I opened a new document to try to save a blank page (in case my file that was corrupted) and it gave me the same error message. I reset all the preferences by holding down CMD + option + contrl + shift immediately after launching indesign, and that didn't work either. I uninstalled CS5 completely, reinstalled everything, it worked for about 5 minutes and then started giving me the same problem.
    The program is also not always exporting files properly, giving me an error message in background tasks when I try to save as either a PDF or downsave to IDML. I deleted the INDD file that I thought was causing all the problems but it is still happening.
    I've spent all day trying to fix this and still have not found a solution that works. Any help you can provide is much appreciated! This is very frustrating.
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi Peter,
    Turns out I figured out the problem, I was trying to save my INDD file into a folder that was "locked" by the previous owner, so no files could be added, modified, or removed from it. I guess when I tried to save my file in that locked folder the program went a little crazy, but as soon as I saved the file in a new folder that was not locked everything worked smoothly and all problems disappeared.
    Have you seen this happen before? This is my best guess as to what could have gone wrong, it is the only thing that was different from my usual day-to-day routine. Everything else is automatically updated and I don't have any third party plug-ins or font managers.

  • Unable to save document as (Flash CS5 - BUG - OSX)

    I have upgraded my CS4 to CS5 on MAC OSX and i'm having problems saving new and existing fla files. It doesnt always do it but it's very anoying when you have done some work and are unable to save it.
    I get this message:
    unable to save document as (file name)
    please try saving to a different filename or location.
    even if i try to save as to a different location i get the same message, this ONLY happens in flash CS5 and does not do it on any other application or even flash CS4. To put it bluntly i am absolutely furious with this and when you pay this amount of money should not get this hassle for such a simple action.
    I have tried phoneing the adobe support line and it's a joke, you can't even understand the operator to even get anywhere and i just gave up having to repeat myself and asking them to repeat themselves.
    I would be grateful if someone out there knows an answer to this or have a contact email for adobe support that i can email them direct. As a flash developer it's critical i can get on with my work without worrying if my work will even save.
    Thanks in advance.
    UPDATE: I can save files in CS5 as CS4 documents but not as CS5, this is so annoying.

    I am having this same issue with Window 7 Professional 64 bit.
    It seems I can reproduce it pretty reliably but have only seen it since I started working with trying to import and export runtime shared font libraries.
    I create a new fla
    I create a font asset in the library and set it to import and specify a relative path to the shared swf.
    I save and test my swf and it works.
    I go back into the font asset and change the location of the font swf to another relative path (this file is loaded into a shell so the raltive path will change).
    After changing that import path I can no longer save the file even if I revert back to the previous value.
    I have repeated this process a couple of times.

  • Flash CS5 bug

    My new installation of Flash CS5 acts very buggy.  Keyboard shortcuts stop working, and I can pick fill colors but not text or line colors - just have a gray box with a few horizontal/vertical lines.  Is this a known bug?  Is there an easy fix?  Closing and reopening the app fixes the keyboard shortcut problem, but then it returns.  Color choosing problem is persistent even after restarting app.

    Hi,
    Regarding picking colors - it sounds like you have the alpha value for text/stroke color set to 0%.  When you open the color picker, please check that the alpha field is at 100% (or anything but 0%).
    Regarding the keyboard shortcut problem - are all keyboard shortcuts not working or only some?
    Thanks,

  • CS5 Bug - "Can't find font library"

    I just downloaded thenew Photoshop CS5 and noticed two things in the first four minutes. My initial impression is that the new tools palette is VERY hard to read. All the tools look the same and I find them very hard to differentiate. I have been working in PS since it came out in the mid-90's so why change the tools look now? It is certainly not an improvement.
    Then I went to use my Text tool and got an error that PS could not locate any fonts.
    Work the bugs out boys.

    I too have a problem with Photoshop CS5's type tool. Mines different though, I can open Photoshop, but each time I select the type tool or a type related palette and sometimes the HDR tool, my photoshop simple crashes, asks me to reopen and eventually brings up a crash report.
    I have requested support via the support service, only for my request to be withdrawn, after one unsuccessful suggestion and then logging in to find it withdrawn after not receiving an email, with a reply saying my graphics card is not supported.
    My question is, if my graphics card is not supported, why suggest that I delete my pref file and recreate it by opening photoshop?
    My other question is, why is the graphics card a MacBook Pro, that is only just over a year old and that cost me nearly £3500 not supported by PS CS5? Makes no sense, do you expect people to buy new hardware just to run CS5?
    To adhere to your request to the other user, here is my system and a description.
    MacBook Pro 17" (Purchased March 2009, brand new and customised)
    Mac OS Snow Leopard (Up-to-date)
    8GB RAM
    NVIDEA GeForce 9400 GT and NVIDEA GeForce (9400M)
    Student/Teacher copy of Design Premium CS5
    Open Photoshop CS5, select the type tool, photoshop CS5 crashes. Thats all I do, is that enough information for you?
    Please help as I am not happy with the software or the manner in which my support request was dealt with after the first attempt to fix the problem.
    Kind Regards
    Paul Goodman
    ps. I think the Adobe staff need to be more open minded with their customers, we aren't all computer genius'. I personal think that because Adobe have cornered the market, that they are becoming complacent. If you know the software hasn't been tested enough on Macs, then don't release it until it is ready.

  • CS5 Bug? Problems with lines...

    Well it was welcomed that you could "Command-click" to select objects behind others (finally!) in Illustrator CS5... HOWEVER...
    1) once selected, you still have to drag by it's path, or find yourself selecting the top-most object again. Yes I realize that you can entire into "Isolation Mode"... but still "clunky".
    2) Resizing a line's width while holding down the "alt" key, shows a guide line while pulling it out to align to say another object's border, but when released, the line is about half the width that you re-sized it to, not matching the preview guides when pulling it out.
    3) Time-honored "bug" in Illustrator: why can you still not select a line by it's appearance (by clicking anywhere on it's "preview" width), rather than the exact center of the (vector) line itself?
    4) Why does "command-click" not work with lines on top of each other, say with different widths? Dragging a selection always selects both. Yes, I guess the new keyboard short-cut is the best way... but come on!
    Not related to lines, but still a nasty "bug" (feature?): when copying a graphic from Illustrator that has a clipping mask, when pasted into Photoshop, it recognizes everything that is supposed to be masked, making it not fit the "true" bounds of the new document when using clipboard? Yes, Flattening Transparency works... but why the extra step?
    Considering... and here it comes... that FreeHand has the ability to do all of the above correctly since I believe version 7. or was it 5?...3?... possibly 1? I can't remember because it's been 20 years! Since Adobe ownes FH, so why not see how Macromedia and Aldus before them, coded those "features"... AND USE IT!
    To end on a positive note though, the new Line Width Tool is simply fantastic!

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}The fact that it holds a monopoly....
    Adobe does not "hold a monopoly." It merely (probably--I'm not a market analyst, either) has a market share (or mind share) majority in this product category. Do you blame Adobe for that, or those who continually buy Illustrator and have next to zero experience with other apps?
    If NGK is the only manufacturer of the particular spark plug needed for my Kawasaki lawn mower engine, that does not make NGK a spark plug monopoly.
    If I choose to own a BMW 1200GS motorcycle, I don't consider myself a victimized underdog minority because many more Honda XL650Rs are sold.
    If Honda buys Montessa, one of the longest-lived and most highly-respected names in Observed Trials bikes, and then discontinues its 2-stroke models and replaces them with a single 4-stroke model of Honda's own design, I can't legitimately call that a monopoly either. I can't whine that evil Honda effects a "monopoly" just because "I've always ridden Montessas." I can have the selection I desire if I ride a different "platform" (Sherco, Gas Gas, Beta...).
    If I insist on using a Macintosh computer, I can no more accuse Adobe of "monopoly" and go about moaning that "there is no competition"--any more than I can accuse Apple of monopoly because an iTouch app doesn't run on my Blackberry.
    The fact that Macromedia chose to sell to Adobe, and that Adobe chose to buy...
    The fact that there are more applications available on a 94% market share platform than on a 6% market share platform...
    ...is just business. It's neither criminal nor immoral. Again, it's market-driven. Blame the buyers.
    If you consider yourself victimized because you use only MacOS, then who's victimizing you other than yourself? If you choose to tolerate the relative dearth of software offerings in this category because you perceive MacOS to have some outweighing other advantage, then you ought to hold your head high as if you were a BMW rider. That's not a monopoly.
    As for me, I don't live in the OS; I live in the applications--and for all intents and purposes the apps work the same on either platform. I just have alot more of them on Windows. And I like to keep up with the current functionality of more than one drawing program and to actually know what I'm talking about when I compare them--which I couldn't do if I limited myself to MacOS. But if I did, I still wouldn't be a victim of monopoly.
    Monopoly is a very ugly word implying illicit business practices. Adobe is no more guilty of monopolistic practices for discontinuing FH than Apple was when it broke backward-compatibility of the iPod with the Bose speaker system I bought for it. But it sure affected my later buying decisions.
    By discontinuing FH and failing to replace the long-bearded Illustrator with a new, innovative, and serious-business 2D vector drawing app, Adobe effectively set 2D Bezier drawing back by decades. But that's not a monopoly either. And the only thing that will correct it is customer-driven market demand.

  • CS5 bug...where to report?

    I just found a bug in InDesign CS5.
    I wonder if it is just me, or can someone recreate this?
    OS: 10.6.3
    MacPro 2007, 4 core, 6gb RAM
    Problem:
    The "Return" and "Enter" keys do not work in the CMD-J "Jump to page" dialog box anymore. "Enter" does nothing, and "Return" adds a hidden character represented in the dialog box by a space.
    You have to actually click the "Go" button. Sort of kills the keyboard shortcut.

    actually, you're having the same problem as I am.
    I have noticed that it seems to be "spreading" to other situations.
    For example, the "Print" dialog box. If I press "return," instead of functioning as if I had clicked "OK," it replaces the "1" in the "number of copies" field with the same non-printing character that it puts into the "jump to page" dialog box.
    However, on the "save" dialog box, it works as normal.
    Baffling.
    I've also noticed a new problem that I am certain wasn't happening until some time this morning, which is the "delete" key not working on objects. I've figured out that it DOES work when typing in a text field...so I can delete type within a box, but if I switch to a selection tool, I cannot delete the box once I've made it.
    The only solution is to "cut" the box to the clipboard. It's weird because I did a big set of stuff yesterday and "delete" was working fine, but "return" was already showing signs of failure.
    To be clear, the keyboard itself is fine and completely functional. everything is working outside of InDesign without issue. I haven't done much in anything CS5 other than ID and PS, though.

  • CS5: Bug with Photoshop documents?

    I frequently use layered Photoshop docs in Premiere, without much incident. I'll use them both flattened and as individual layers; if I need to make a change, I use Ctrl+E to open the image in PS, edit it, save, and it updates in the Premiere timeline. At least, that's how it worked in CS4, though I'd ocassionally and inexplicably have to Alt+Tab back and forth between PS and PPro once or twice in order to make the update "take."
    Well, with CS5, it seems to be worse. After updating a PSD and returning to PPro, there is no visible change to the image in the Program Monitor. However, if I scrub or playback the sequence, the changes suddenly appear. Once I stop either activity, the original, non-edited version reappears. No amount of Alt+Tabbing seems to make the changes stick. I've found that if I sometimes open a different sequence, the image finally updates in "pause mode" but it's sort of hit-or-miss, too.
    I seem to be noticing this more with PSD imported as individual layers, but I don't think it's specific to that particular import method. Anyone witnessing the same?
    I am running a GTX 480 with the hack in place, and (apparently) the not-so-good current version of the nVidia drivers. Might this be a cause? I'll test out on my non-MPE workstation to see if there's a difference.

    I had imported as merged.
    I've tried again with the 8-layer image taking the following steps based on
    your workflow:
    1.  Import PSD into PPro project as sequence.
    2.  Open sequence timeline and view output in Program Monitor.
    3.  Open PSD in PhotoShop.
    4.  Turn off 4 layers to give obvious visual effect.
    5.  Save from PS.
    5.  See no change at all on Premiere timeline.
    This is exactly as I would expect because there is no link between PPro and
    PS when edits are done externally like this.  The footage would need to be
    re-imported or the project re-opened to register the changes.
    I also tried:
    1.  Select one layer in clip window.
    2.  Invoke Edit Original.
    3.  Turn on/off some layers to give obvious visual effect on image.
    4.  Save from PS.
    5.  No effect back in PPro even after re-rendering.
    6.  Deleting render files still did not force an update.
    This is not what I was expecting and is, I think, worth reporting as a
    potential bug.
    NOT A GOOD ANSWER !
    Because I don't often use import as sequence, I failed to realise that all layers are selected on by default in PPro, so turning off layers in PhotoShop doesn't give a useful test of this possible bug.  Please ignore the above results, which I've only left up because some read this via newsgroups.
    Out of time now.  I'll do a better test on Thursday.

  • Anyone else experiencing these InDesign CS5 bugs?

    1. First bug: hitting Return results in an invisible character being inserted in to a field in the current dialog box instead of hitting the default button like "OK" or "Save"
    2. Unable to set the transform point of objects by clicking anywhere in the art board/page while using a transform (i.e. Scale, Rotate, Shear) tool. If you click with the option key, you can do it, but then get the annoying "Transform by number" dialog box to dismiss. I hate this new "feechur" (being a lack of the old feature).
    3. Magic Mouse scrolling is insane. I constantly have to bring my document back onto the screen with Command-Option-0 or the like. My pages zip all over the place, scrolling up/down, zooming in/out according to the slightest gesture on my mouse top. And there is absolutely no way to control it. I tried using a special MagicPrefs setup for InDesign, which seems to have no effect in InDesign CS5.

    1. Nope - that doesn't happen for me. Never has. Try resetting your preferences (see the main forum page links at the top)
    2. This isn't a bug - but for some reason this behaviour was changed. I know it's annoying, but you can submit a request to the Adobe Bug/Feature Request for it to return, I suggest you use the Feature Request button, because it's not a bug - https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
    3. I wonder if you turn off Gestures in InDesign preferences would it give you better results? I've not got a Mac so I can't comment on the Magic Mouse? But I did read in other places about certain settings, but I don't remember what they were .

  • Contribute Cs5 bug in reading pdf. file

    I am using a trial version of Contribute Cs5 on my Mac.  When I want to see a pdf. file on my website through Contribute Cs5, after following all the instruction, I got the following message:

    I then looked into my website and found that there is an added folder with the above name, but there is nothing in this folder. My file is definitely there because I can see it on my website directly in the same folder as the added folder from Contribute.
    I think this is a bug in the Contribute program.  Apparently Contribute created this folder but did not put the file in the right place.
    I will only consider buying this version if the bug is corrected.
    Does the Contribute Cs5 have the same problem in the PC version?
    Tsing Bardin

    Hi Tsing,
         To upload pdf, doc, xls files to your website, you can use the Publish File From My Computer option.
    Click File menu, and select Publish File From My Computer from the dropdown menu.
    In the resulting dialog, browse to the folder that contains the pdf document, select the pdf document and click Select button. (If you are connected to multiple websites, Contribute will ask you to select which website you would want to upload the file to. Select a website.)
    Then, you get the Publish dialog, where, you can choose in which folder you want to publish the file to, and click Publish button.
    Now, the file will be uploaded to your website.
    Similar to Flash Paper option, latest versions of Contribute has Insert Document as PDF and Insert PDF. So, you can embed a pdf document within your web page and then publish. For more information - http://help.adobe.com/en_US/contribute/cs/using/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d1180fba204e-7f91. html
    As for the contents being empty in the temporary folder, the contents are deleted after preview in browser is done. That is, after closing the Browser window after Preview in Browser, the contents in the temporary folder are deleted.

  • CS5 bug--clone source

    In the clone source panel. It will not accept negative values for height or width. Photoshop CS4 does. It is a useful technique to do a "mirror" clone. PS CS5 (trial version) will not accept a value less than 1%.
    Has anyone else encountered this?
    Where do we submit bug reports?
    Thanks,
    Rod

    Chris,
    Thanks for the prompt reply. I found them, but they're not check boxes. They are buttons. The bad part is that they don't look like buttons. They look more like labels. And on my screen, the combination of their size and design make them ambiguous. I still couldn't find them even after reading your reply. It wasn't until I searched the help system a couple of times (see below) that I figured out where they were and what they did.
    I like the idea of building this functionality into the interface without having to use a workaround. But it would help if they were more obviously buttons. I scoured the help files and looked everywhere in the panel to try to find out how to get this to work.
    Clearly, if I'm trying to enter a negative number in the width box, I'm not a novice user. Just the fact that I'm using the clone source panel takes me out of the category. I was searching for the way to do this and couldn't find it. Sounds like a design flaw in the user interface to me.
    While I'm in customer-feedback mode, I've often found the help system unhelpful. I consider myself an adept "searcher," but I frequently come up empty when searching the help system.
    Thanks again for the prompt, helpful reply. Please pass on my feedback to the appropriate people.

  • Possible Media Encoder CS5 BUG???

    Since the Media Encoder has no "official" home that I could find on the forum I thought this would be the best place to post this since my videos are exported from After Effects.  If it isn't the correct location I apologize.
    Here's the issue:
    When I encode an H.264 (.MP4) video from a .mov file with Media Encoder CS5 the Data Size and Data Rate attributes do not show up in the Apple QuickTime Movie Inspector.  I can convert the exact same video with the CS4 version and it shows up.  I've made sure I have all the same settings selected on both versions.  I have noticed on the CS5 version there is a new Metadata button next to the "OK" button.  I looked at all the properties in there and did not see any feature to enable data rate and data size as if those were metadata features rather than something QuickTime calculates.  It must be something that the encoder includes onto the file after compression is complete.  Otherwise, why would the Movie Inspector not display that information for only MP4's created with Media Encoder CS5?  This is important to me because I put a lot of videos on the web and data rate is extremely important in this process.  I've noticed the data rate I specify in the encoder is slightly off from the number I see in QuickTime so I consider QuickTime's number to be more accurate.  It would be nice if you could view video properties with the Media Encoder like you can with QuickTime.
    This is the setup I've tested on:
    Worked
    Windows XP AND Windows 7
    Adobe Media Encoder CS4
    QuickTime Player v7.6.7(1675)
    Does Not Work
    Windows XP AND Windows 7
    Adobe Media Encoder CS5
    QuickTime Player v7.6.7(1675)
    The process I use each time I compress a video:
    A .mov file is handed off to me by one of our "video guys" who uses After Effects
    I import the video into Adobe Media Encoder CS4 or CS5
    Apply my settings and compress the video
    After compression has completed, I play video in QuickTime and view Movie Inspector.
    Maybe I'm over looking the setting on CS5 to enable those two features.  There's not a whole lot of documentation on this product.  Any assistants would be helpful.
    Thanks,
    Eric

    Tim,
    Thanks for logging the issue and giving more insight!  I tried to research what version of QuickTime I have but couldn't really find a definite answer.  I'll take your word for it that I have the 32-bit version.  It looks like there is a 64-bit version out there but only for Snow Leopard I think (QuickTime X).  Not sure when that will make it to the Windows world if it is true.
    If there was some type of "movie inspector" built into AME that would completely eliminate my need for QuickTime.  But, I'm sure it would be much easier for you guys at this point to add those two changes to the process already in place that talks to QuickTime.  I will definitely put in a request or two for features.  I think AME is a great tool now and could also become much more.
    If you ever need a tester for newer versions of AME, just give me a shout.
    Thanks,
    Eric
