DW CS5 Widget & MyWidget/Presets Workflow??

( I also posted this in the workflow forum)
Recently moved form DW CS3 to CS5
Some questions about widget configuration & workflow in DW CS5.
In  the widget browser I have saved widgets to MyWidgets.  I have  configured the widgets with my own presets using the config interface  form offered in the widget browser and saved my custom preset under a  new name.
It appears the presets for Mywidgets & presets are saved (at least in XP) in  profile/'myName'/application data/Adobe/WidgetBrowser/....
So be sure to back up this data!
Now  in DW CS5 if I insert a widget with my preset from MyWidgets into my  web page, the widget's necessary files (javascript, CSS, ...) are copied  to my web site space.  My inserted widget is now totally separate from  MyWidgets. Any further customization of MyWidget preset in the widget  browseer will have NO affect on the widget already inseted into my web  site.
Am I correct up to here?
My main questions are ....
Now  if I want to further customize the inserted widget, I now have to do it  totally via manual CSS changes. There is no configuration interface as I  have in the Widget Browser I used to create my custom preset?????
And,  any further customization of MyWidget preset in the Widget Browser will  have NO affect on the widget already inseted into my web site.
Any  re-inserting (replacing) myWidget & a custom preset will replace  the previously inserted widget files and wipe out any widget CSS  customization I have done.  So to avoid this, all customization has to  be done via CSS changes on th CSS files in my web site space.
Am I close???
Thanks

  • Indesign CS5 Crashes with Incopy Workflow

    I work for a large publishing company that publishes thousands of titles per year. Several divisions use Indesign, but only our Publishing Division uses the Indesign/Incopy workflow, and they are the only division experiencing widespread crashing in CS5. The divisions who do not use Incopy are not crashing. Here's what we know causes the crashing in Indesign CS5:
    1. Exporting stories to Incopy. This is a widespread, yet inconsistent problem. One time you crash, the next time you don't. We've done the IDML export to CS4, reopened the files and saved as CS5. This helped with some files, but not others. I talking about hundreds of different publications and files. All people are patched to the newest version. Some are on Snow Leopard and some are not. However, I'm on Snow Leopard and the crashing does happen on my computer too (sometimes). The problem continues. I've found workaround for some problems, but there's no workaround for exporting to Incopy. It's something you have to do in this workflow.
    2. Saving an Indesign files with an Incopy story checked out. This will cause a crash almost every time. We've been in the Indesign/Incopy workflow since CS2 and never had this problem in the past. This is an easy fix; just make sure you check in stories before saving, but it's a hard habit for some to break.
    These issues have been reported to Adobe, with absolutely NO explanation or resolution. After six years in this workflow, I'm at the point of having to consider abandoning Incopy -- not an easy thing to do in such a large organization.

    After 2 days straight, I FIGURED IT OUT!!!! I was trying everything, especially related to font book and fonts and resetting prefs, etc...
    I narrowed it down to 1 constant variable: it's happening on the 2012 macbook's, so I reset my mac and held command + R and re-installed Lion, then I DID NOT INSTALL THE UPDATE FOR THE MACBOOK 2012. Then I tried exporting a smallest file size pdf with overset text and also tried deleting a page with an object on it and BAM! No blank warning dialog and even more importantly: NO MORE CRASHES!!! Hey, I might not lose all my clients afterall!
    got the good ol' warning box we all love and missed:
    Again:
    - power off mac and turn back on while holding down Command + R (dont do it on an external keyboard just to be safe)
    - choose the re-install Lion option (I'm sure there is another way to re-install Lion, this is just the way I did it, not saying its the best or only method)
    - DO NOT INSTALL MACBOOK (Mid 2012) Software Update 1.0 - THIS SCREWS ADOBE UP!
    After you guys try this please let us know how your system is operating, I am noticing my macbook pro is so slow and when trying to send an email and choosing an email to reply to and attach something,etc.. each click triggers the beachball and I gotta wait a few moments..?? I'm sure we might be missing out on some good updates from not updating to the 1.0 software update....but....
    So my final question is:
    is this Apple's problem or Adobe's and who needs to do what here??? Why can't we all get along...

  • CS5 Crop Tool Presets Not Working - HELP!

    I am using CS5.  The Photoshop crop tool presets are not working.  For instance, if I use the Preset 8 inch x 10 inch and drag on an image which is say 12 x14 the crop does not stop at 8x10 but continues on to cover the whole image OR it covers only a portion of the image but the size of the crop is NOT 8x10 - it might be 10x12.
    Actually there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to what it is doing.
    I have cleared it, reset it, saved (my own presets) and reloaded.  I have closed out of Photoshop and even rebooted my computer.
    Any Ideas what is going on and how to fix it?  All help will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards, Getting Really Annoyed

    It's kinda hard to tell from your description, but try the following
    and see if it helps:
    Make sure you don't have any values entered in the tool options bar
    for the width, height and resolution. If you do, use the clear button.
    If still not working, try resetting the photoshop preferences:
    Hold down the shft+alt+ctrl keys while starting photoshop, continue holding the keys
    until a dialog appears asking to reset the settings file, click yes.

  • AE cs5 and 2d animation workflow?

    I have been searching for how to add AE cs5 to an classical 2d animation workflow and I have found only one vid tut. Are there any AE cs5 forums that talks about this on the internet? Have yopu seen some cool vids working with this workflow (AE cs5 and classsical 2d animation) please post their links?
    Any links, videos, books, courses would be appricated.

    This is a difficult way to get help. If I may use a metaphor...
    On this forum, we are good at teaching you how to use the steering wheel, gear shift, pedals, and so on in your car. Some of us have driven enough or know enough about the car to be able to tell you how best to use a combination of accelerator, emergency brake, and steering to perform a drifitng turn around a hairpin curve or best get the car up a steep grade. But asking if we know of any specifically written out turn-by-turn directions to get from the east coast of North America to the west coast of North America is a bit out of our scope---and still a very vague request. I can tell you certainly that you can do it by car, but I can't and won't write out the directions.
    To leave the metaphor behind: Yes, After Effects can be and is used in making 2D animations. Many of them.
    It seems that if you were familiar with the basic features of After Effects, you would be better able to ask questions that would help us to help you to get where you are going.
    We want to help. In that spirit, I ask that you start here, and learn enough to know what After Effects can do and what you still have specific questions about:

  • LR Preset workflow

    I was wondering if there was a way to do the following. I Like shooting B&W. I how to convert once the files are in PS or LR. I was wondering of it were possible to shoot in B&W in the camera and have some EXIF flag set to tell LR to apply a pre defined B&W preset to any image that had the flag set? I work in raw (Lumix G1) and was wondering if such a workflow is possible? I guess the real questions does the exif data support this work flow and can you tell lightroom to look at a particular exif field and act on that?
    Thanks
    Lonnie

    Lonnie,
    The short answer is no. There is a flag in the raw file that says B&W, but it isn't available to anything but the manufacturer's proprietary software. And Adobe don't have access to it. It isn't hard to select all your photos in LR and convert to B&W all at once, though.
    Import. In Grid View, select all photos. Choose greyscale under "Treatment" in the Quick Develop panel. There you are.

  • CS5 to CS6 Preset issues for Mac.

    I had CS5 and downloaded CS6 and now I need to get my presets into CS6 and I followed directions to export and import and migrate as well even drag and drop and only one pattern comes up from the 22mb folder file I had in CS5 that we exported? Any reasons why this would happen to to fix the issue as well??

  • Premier Pro CS5 (Mac) to WMV Workflow

    I’m looking for a recommendation on a process that eventually yields a good quality WMV file. I’m using Premier Pro CS5 on a Mac and I need to have a finished WMV file for a corporate intranet. Normally, I deploy a H.264/.MP4 combination via the Adobe Media Encoder, so I’m not sure what settings and process I need to get a nice looking WMV. The final size will be 640 x 360.
    I really appreciate your advice.
    Thanks,
    Andy

    First of all, there is no such thing as a "good quality WMV" from a Mac in my experience.  It's a horrible codec, and always looks like garbage to me, no matter how high a bit-rate I set.
    But, that's a personal opinion; not scientific; an "eye of the beholder" thing.
    I try to talk my clients out of using / requesting WMV.  FLV and MP4 look much better, are cross-platform, and can be exported from Pr Mac.
    Anyway, when I lose that battle, I export ProRes from Pr, and use QT Pro with Flip4Mac installed to make WMVs.  The Flip4Mac plug-in lets you save presets to use within QT Pro.  I also use QT enabled apps like QT Amateur and Sorenson Squeeze to do batch exporting.  One could even use FCP just to do batch exports, as it allows WMV from within the application, unlike Pr for Mac.  And as others have posted, other apps like MPEG Streamclip also offer batch transcoding.
    My sister has both Macs and Windows machines, and she says the quality is much better when using a Windows system to make WMVs.  So, perhaps my beef isn't so much with WMV, but with the Flip4Mac plug-in (which is the only way to get to and from WMV with a Mac).

  • Can CS5 plug-ins, presets, panels be moved to CS6?

    I upgraded from Photoshop CS5 to CS6, but some of CS5 Plug-ins, Panels and Presets remain that I'd like to use. Can I move them to CS6?

    Hello!
    If you saved the presets in the default location, you can move them using the migration script.
    You will find all the info in this FAQ: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4287533#4287533
    For the plug-ins, the question is more tricky: not knowing if you were using mac or pc, if they were of the 32 or 64 bits kind...
    Here is a FAQ on moving plug-ins in CS6: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/965931?tstart=0
    In general, simple, free plug-ins should be installed in a folder you create, either somewhere under the default plug-ins folder, or anywere in your hard drive, and then you point to it in preferences>plug-ins
    More complicated plug-ins, and most commercial plug-ins should be reinstalled for your new version of Photoshop. It is a good idea to check for updated versions.
    If you run into issues with plug-ins, do check this page: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-plug-ins-photoshop-cs4.html#main_Pho toshop_CS5_Optional_Plugins
    For the panels, did you get their updated version for CS6? and did you install the new adobe exchange panel. https://www.adobeexchange.com/ to browse, discover, install and rate many new ones?

  • InDesign CS5 and inCopy CS6 workflow problem

    I've looked at other discussions and haven't found any to answer the question to our problem.
    We are a small publishing company and we have license for roughly 7 inDesign CS5 copies that we purchased a year ago.  We contract with outside editors to edit content for us using inCopy.  For a year there hasn't been any problems.  But any new contracted editor we now sign, which in turn purchases inCopy, we are having trouble with our files talking to one another.  Any new contracted editors are only able to purchase CS6 inCopy.  This leaves us with the problem of having inDesign CS5 on about 7 or so of our employees machines and 6-8 CS 5.5 InCopy on outside contracted editors and an additional 3-4 contracted editors with CS6 inCopy.  When the editors with CS6 inCopy try to open files from our InDesign CS5, either they won’t open at all, or they will open, the editor works on the project for awhile, their program crashes and they are not able to recover (re-open) the files again.  Which results in hours of lost work.
    Has anyone else come across this problem?  Is there a work around or a quick fix.  We would hate to have to upgrade to CS6 for all of our in house copies of InDesign and then ask our outside editors what do have inCopy cs5.5 to upgrade to CS6.
    If this is the case, when CS7 comes out, and we hire additional outside editors, will we continuously have to go through the process of upgrades again?  This is too costly for use and our existing contracted editors.
    Any thoughts are assistance would be appreciated.
    This is one of the error messages received from an outside contracted editor using inCopy CS6.  The file crashed after several hours of work, when the editor went to reopen the file, they received this error.  Which looks to be a generic error code that doesn't tell us anything.

    Hi Ruffus,
    Unfortunately different versions of InDesign and InCopy do not work well with each other. Newer versions of the program should be able to open older files, but they cannot save backwards. I am not sure what is causing the errors with the newer versions of InCopy however.
    Are you able to open the CS6 InCopy files on your computers?

  • Audio setup in CS5 and audio overlay workflow

    Here is the situation: I have a 720p mpeg 2 file of a football game that is the original tv broadcast. The file contains muxed A/V. I also have the radio version of the same game in mp3 format with different announcers for the game. I would like to overlay the radio audio with the television video and keep everything in sync.
    1. What would be a good workflow to achieve this? Can this be done in Premiere or Encore?
    2. I would like to give the viewer the option to watch the game using the TV audio or radio audio. Similiar to a dvd movie with English or Spanish versions. How can i set up a menu option for this in Encore.
    thanks for any help.

    Bill, thanks for the help. I have 2 other questions.
    1. How do i convert the mp3 to .WAV and
    2. what is the workflow to do a "Audio Setup" option in the main menu?
    thanks.

  • Photoshop CS5 Extended -- Optional Plug-ins, Extensions and Presets

    I am using Photoshop CS5 Extended.
    I downloaded the Optional Plug-ins, Extensions and Presets file, unpacked it the desktop.  All I wanted was the SGI file format, which works very well and the legacy textures.
    As per the PDF file I copied the "Textures directory" to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)\Presets
    The instructions stated just restart Photoshop and the deal was done.
    Only it didn't work.  The legacy textures are not available in the texturizer

    Have you tried changin the texture selector using the sidearrows?

    Get a updated driver that supports application running in 64bit mode, or a new printer with drivers that supports application running in 64bit mode.

  • [JS CS4/CS5] ScriptUI Click Event Issue in JSXBIN

    Still working on a huge ScriptUI project, I discovered a weird issue which appears to *only* affect 'binary compiled' scripts (JSXBIN export), not the original script!
    When you repeatedly use addEventListener() with the same event type, you theorically have the possibility to attach several handlers to the same component and event, which can be really useful in a complex framework:
    // Declare a 'click' manager on myWidget (at this point of the code)
    myWidget.addEventListener('click', eventHandler1);
    // Add another 'click' manager (for the same widget)
    myWidget.addEventListener('click', eventHandler2);
    When you do this, both eventHandler1 and eventHandler2 are registered, and when the user clicks on myWidget, each handler is called back.
    The following script shows that this perfectly works in ID CS4 and CS5:
    // Create a dialog UI
    var     u,
         w = new Window('dialog'),
         p = w.add('panel'),
         g = p.add('group'),
         e1 = p.add('statictext'),
         e2 = p.add('statictext');
    // Set some widget properties
    e1.characters = e2.characters = 30;
    g.minimumSize = [50,50];
    var gx = g.graphics;
    gx.backgroundColor = gx.newBrush(gx.BrushType.SOLID_COLOR, [.3, .6, .9, 1]);
    // g->click Listener #1
    g.addEventListener('click', function(ev)
         e1.text = 'click handler 1';
    // g->click Listener #2
    g.addEventListener('click', function(ev)
         e2.text = 'click handler 2';
    w.show();
    The result is that when you click on the group box, e1.text AND e2.text are updated.
    But now, if I export the above code as a JSXBIN from the ESTK, the 2nd event handler sounds to be ignored! When I test the 'compiled' script and click on the group box, only e1.text is updated. (Tested in ID CS4 and CS5, Win32.)
    By studying the JSXBIN code as precisely as possible, I didn't find anything wrong in the encryption. Each addEventListener() statement is properly encoded, with its own function handler, nothing is ignored. Hence I don't believe that the JSXBIN code is defective by itself, so I suppose that the ExtendScript/ScriptUI engine behaves differently when interpreting a JSXBIN... Does anyone have an explanation?
    @+
    Marc

    John Hawkinson wrote:
    Not an explanation, but of course we know that in JSXBIN you can't use the .toSource() method on functions.
    So the implication here is that perhaps the .toSource() is somehow implicated in event handlers and there's some kind of static workaround for it?
    Perhaps you can get around this by eval() or doScript()-ing strings?
    Thanks a lot, John, I'm convinced you're on the good track. Dirk Becker suggested me that this is an "engine scope" issue and Martinho da Gloria emailed me another solution —which also works— and joins Dirk's assumption.
    Following is the result of the various tests I did from your various suggestions:
    // #1 - THE INITIAL PROBLEM// =====================================
    // EVALUATED BINARY CODE
    var handler1 = function(ev)
         ev.target.parent.children[1].text = 'handler 1';
    var handler2 = function(ev)
         ev.target.parent.children[2].text = 'handler 2';
    var     u,
         w = new Window('dialog'),
         p = w.add('panel'),
         g = p.add('group'),
         e1 = p.add('statictext'),
         e2 = p.add('statictext');
    e1.characters = e2.characters = 30;
    g.minimumSize = [50,50];
    var gx = g.graphics;
    gx.backgroundColor = gx.newBrush(gx.BrushType.SOLID_COLOR, [.3, .6, .9, 1]);
    g.addEventListener('click', handler1);
    g.addEventListener('click', handler2);
    w.show();
    eval("@JSXBIN@[email protected]@MyBbyBn0AKJAnASzIjIjBjOjEjMjFjShRByBNyBnA . . . . .");
    // RESULT
    // handler 1 only, that's the issue!
    Now to John's approach:
    // #2 - JOHN'S TRICK
    // =====================================
    var handler1 = function(ev)
         ev.target.parent.children[1].text = 'handler 1';
    var handler2 = function(ev)
         ev.target.parent.children[2].text = 'handler 2';
    // EVALUATED BINARY CODE
    var     u,
         w = new Window('dialog'),
         p = w.add('panel'),
         g = p.add('group'),
         e1 = p.add('statictext'),
         e2 = p.add('statictext');
    e1.characters = e2.characters = 30;
    g.minimumSize = [50,50];
    var gx = g.graphics;
    gx.backgroundColor = gx.newBrush(gx.BrushType.SOLID_COLOR, [.3, .6, .9, 1]);
    g.addEventListener('click', handler1);
    g.addEventListener('click', handler2);
    w.show();
    eval("@JSXBIN@[email protected]@MyBbyBn0AIbCn0AFJDnA . . . . .");
    // RESULT
    // handler1 + handler2 OK!
    This test shows that if handler1 and handler2's bodies are removed from the binary, the script works. Note that the handlers are declared vars that refer to (anonymous) function expressions. (BTW, no need to use a non-main #targetengine.) This is not a definitive workaround, of course, because I also want to hide handlers code...
    Meanwhile, Martinho suggested me an interesting approach in using 'regular' function declarations:
    // #3 - MARTINHO'S TRICK
    // =====================================
    // EVALUATED BINARY CODE
    function handler1(ev)
         ev.target.parent.children[1].text = 'handler 1';
    function handler2(ev)
         ev.target.parent.children[2].text = 'handler 2';
    var     u,
         w = new Window('dialog'),
         p = w.add('panel'),
         g = p.add('group'),
         e1 = p.add('statictext'),
         e2 = p.add('statictext');
    e1.characters = e2.characters = 30;
    g.minimumSize = [50,50];
    var gx = g.graphics;
    gx.backgroundColor = gx.newBrush(gx.BrushType.SOLID_COLOR, [.3, .6, .9, 1]);
    g.addEventListener('click', handler1);
    g.addEventListener('click', handler2);
    w.show();
    eval("@JSXBIN@[email protected]@MyBbyBnACMAbyBn0ABJCnA . . . . .");
    // RESULT
    // handler1 + handler2 OK!
    In the above test the entire code is binary-encoded, and the script works. What's the difference? It relies on function declarations rather than function expressions. As we know, function declarations and function expressions are not treated the same way by the interpreter. I suppose that function declarations are stored at a very persistent level... But I don't really understand what happens under the hood.
    (Note that I also tried to use function expressions in global variables, but this gave the original result...)
    Thanks to John, Dirk, and Martinho for the tracks you've cleared. As my library components cannot use neither the global scope nor direct function declarations my problem is not solved, but you have revealed the root of my troubles.

  • Importing Widget - Menubar 2.0 - Help!

    I went to widget browser, and to adobe exchange where I formatted Spry Horizontal MenuBar 2.0 exactly how I wanted it...saved it to my presets. (It showed up on the adobe exchange horizontally like I wanted it. Then I opened a page in dreamweaver CS5, chose insert > widget> my presets> and chose the formatted Horizontal MenuBar.  All the code for the widget was imported onto that page. I have two problems.
    1. It shows up vertically. How do I get it to show up horizontally?
    2. And was there a better way to import it so I do not have to have ALL the code on every page in my website. I am worried that it will hamper spiders.
    I thought it would go into the spry assets folder.
    I have not cleaned up all the comments in the code yet. It is located here
    http://www.bountifulspinweave.com/alpine_meadow_yarn_starlight1.htm
    Thank you in advance for any insight you can provide.
    Sincerely, Lois

    Thank you for your help and for the additional websites to visit for help.Thanks to your input, I was able to build a new page and get the menubar to work and validate everything except for three min width errors in IE 6. I had 0px for the min width by default. I tried 0%, 0em and 2em but that did not help. So I will just put up with that error I guess.
    I am still unsure if all the code for the spry menubar 2.0 should be in the source code for every page and not in a separate file uploaded to the spry assets folder. I simply went to widget browser, to my presets, then inserted it on my page. Will all that code affect spiders cataloging my site?
    Thank you again!
    Sincerely, Lois
