DW menu item font problems Snow Leopard

I am having a problem in Dreamweaver with the font used for menu items. Out of PS, Fireworks, and Dreamweaver this is the only Adobe program where this problem is evident. I have tried many resolutions on the computer such as clearing font casche, diabling fonts, changing font charastics within DW, installing the latest PS font patch from apple, etc. If anyone has anything I can try to resolve this problem I would appreaciate it.

I've been using Lion since it's release, it's fine.  Don't know what's holding you back.
Did you take a higher res screenshot and run it through what the font?  From a glance I'm guessing at Conceilian outline, White Wolf.  And upgrading won't solve this problem because the font will still reside on the system.  An OS upgrade does not remove your custom fonts. It's going to be a process but you might just have to go through every outline font on your system.

  • Cant apply superscript or subscript on opentype font (mac snow leopard/CS4)

For some reason when I try to apply the subscript or superscipt (or any style) on CS4 using snow leopard it does not seems to work properly.  For some fonts, it works for some characters (mostly numbers).
Is this an issue with incomplete fonts?

Opentype fonts is a set of characters and specifications...You mentioned right. Some opentype fonts can contain for example ligatures, glyphs or adittional specifications. Some open type fonts can contain subscript or superscript as glyphs, and others do not.
To paracially solve your problem, have you already tried to set a "faux" subscript or superscript?

  • Photoshop not seeing fonts after Snow Leopard upgrade

This is probably elementary but since changing to Snow Leopard I had to copy fonts into the InDesign fonts folder to access to more than a limited range. However, I am having same problem with Photoshop but don't know how to fix this as I can't find a fonts folder. I am using CS3. Any thoughts?

"So, you're saying that the only way to install snow leopard is to do a clean install and not an upgrade? If so, that would be a horrible horrible thing."
I'm not saying performing fresh installs from scratch is the only way, just the only smart way.
Yeah, it's a pain and takes more time but I'd rather spend the time up front than wasting time tracking down frustrating problems down the road. A healthy OS is vital to a smooth running system - everything lives or dies by the OS. I want to be sure nothing gets in the way of it running as best as it can. Simply replacing bits here and there and leaving old prefs, caches and miscellaneous crud in place via the Upgrade method instead of starting from scratch is a recipe for problems, IMO. It's like painting a bathroom with mold problems. The easiest, fastest way is to simply paint over the mold - it will look fine for a while, but of course the problem is still there. There are no shortcuts.
If nothing else, a fresh install gives you piece of mind that the OS install is not a suspect when problems develop.
As I said, I'm not experiencing any slowness (or crashing), at all. In fact, PSCS4 seems more stable in 10.6 than 10.5. In Leopard, CS4 would frequently crash on me (CS3 was rock solid). I haven't experience a single crash in SL/CS4 - not even the stupid crash-after-quitting that was as regular as clockwork.
If you want to continue to troubleshoot your problem (which sounds fairly severe), I'd suggest running the very latest version of DiscWarrior. Personally, I know what I'd do. ;-)

  • Font Problems in Leopard being stored on backup Server

All files that I use are put onto a backup snap server, I do not know all of the details for the servers, but since I upgraded to Leopard it has lost many file "kinds" so now fonts just about ever single font file is being seen as Unix Executable Files instead of the fonts that they are. Many of the fonts that I had a copy of on my computer are ok, but not all of them, so I need to know a way to turn these Unix Executable files back into files that can be seen as fonts. I have tried adding file extensions but it hasn't worked. With other files I have been able to add the file extension and the computer will open them in the correct program, but the fonts do not seem to be working the same way. I cannot think of anything else to do. Please help.

"Optimizing font performance" text pops up on the Word/Powerpoint startup window ... (I have 600+ fonts, but it still shouldn't do this)
It shouldn't take quite that long, but that still is a lot of fonts to have open at once.
It seems to have worked for Word, but trying to open a blank document in Pages causes it to crash. Keynote opens a blank or template-based document, but as soon as I try to click to edit text, it crashes.
Office and Pages/Keynote are completely unrelated to each other, vendor wise. Something is going on at the OS level to affect multiple apps from both Apple and Microsoft.
It may not be as simple as this, but try removing all font cache data from your Mac. Download the Snow Leopard version of OnyX. Click the Cleaning heading and then the Fonts tab. Check all items (except Gimp if you're not using that), then click Execute. When it's done clearing the cache files from the system, it will tell you to restart. Do not skip that step!
After the Mac restarts, check to make sure OnyX has removed the Office cache files. Close all Office applications. Remove the following files. The tilde (~) indicates your home account.
    ~/Library/Caches/com.microsoft.browserfont.cache
    ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office Font Cache (11)
For Office 2008, the location of the second item is:
    ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008/Office Font Cache (12)

  • "open recent" from file menu not operating with snow leopard?

I can understand why they have done this, although agree it is not a good idea.
Apple has made accessing the applications harder than need be, by nesting them inside the iWork folder. Without the manuals.
The User Guide says nothing about the need to leave the iWork components in the iWork '09 folder.
Is it difficult to understand that we don't buy three separate applications but one package?
The soluce of three apps in one package may have several reasons:
    (1) developping Keynote then Pages then Numbers was more efficient in terms of cost than developping them as a single app.
    (2) keeping them as separated items gives the ability to load an item smaller than a treeinone app so it requires less time and use less memory.
    (3)…
If users are too numerous to break the 'rule', I'm afraid that Apple decide to pack the three apps in a single item so the problem would be definitely solved.
If someone want to have direct access to iWork components from the Applications menu, the correct soluce is to create aliases of thes apps and store these aliases in the Applications folder. Neat, simple and free of the described oddities.
as in the +Open With+ in File information,
The operating system apply a default setting for the "Open with" feature.
There is a problem for those which want an other setting.
But, as every user has its own needs, there will always be necessary to make individual choices.
Which app must open a .doc file ?
    For me it's a moveit_to_thetrash tool
    for some users, it's Word
    for some, it's openOffice
    for some, it's neoOffice
    for some, it's Bean
    for some, it's Pages
    for some, it's TextEdit
and I know users having all of them installed.
Automatic link between a kind of doc and an app is an inaccessible dream.
    The user action is required.
    and the +Keyboard Shortcuts+ preferences.
The decision to apply this or that shortcut to a menu item is part of the design task. I think that it's the designer which must define them, not the user. You don't change the commands of your motorcar, I don't understand why you would change those of an application.
If you don't like the application GUI, use an other app.

  • Coloured Labels problem, snow leopard

    Hi,
Our studio uses coloured labels in our work flow however we have small conflict in which our new 27" imac is unable to change the label colour of specific folders that we use in our studios workflow so that the colour updates on our other macs connected to our company's server. The 24" mac and 15" macbook work fine together, however still cant get the 27" imac to work.
The 27" imac is running on snow leopard. The 24" imac & a 15" Macbook pro (2007) both running on original leopard.
The three macs are connected to our company's main server which runs on Windows 2003 server.
I recently migrated my user account from the 24" imac to the new 27" imac. My old user account on the 24" imac has been disabled and a new on is now been used
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks Scott

  • Menu item stroke problems

I am unable to add a right aligned stroke on the word 'Snowdon Super Cup' because the border cuts across the word 'Cup'. (the stroke appears where the word 'Cup' starts)
How to I extend the border area in order for the menu item 'Snowdon Super Cup' to fit within the correct boundaries?

    Hello,
Please confirm are you using Manual menu here?
If yes, please select the label "Snowdon Super Cup" by clicking on it twice and stretch the text box.
You can also clock on the tiny white arrow in blue circle at the top right corner, and in widget properties, change the "Item size" drop down to uniform size or uniform spacing.
    Hope this helps.

  • Curious appleworks font problem in leopard

After a lot of back and forth with Xerox software engineering, I've managed to get my ancient trusty Phaser 3400 up and running in leopard, with the single exception of appleworks. Printing is fine from all other programs, and in appleworks graphics and layout are fine, but all my fonts appear as a horribly jagged helvetica, as though the printer can find no fonts. Xerox was stumped by this and so am I.
Does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone run into this before? (I did an erase/install to leopard and copied over the appleworks app folder).
EDIT These same files print just fine from my Canon i9100, and equally badly from the phaser whether I use its ppd, the apple driver for the model that superseded it, or "generic post script printer."

    Hello Barbara
    Glad to read from you.
Have you re-installed the fonts which you used in AppleWorks which are not available in Leopard?
The set of fonts delivered with Leopard is different to the one delivered with Tiger.
We may think that some fonts are not correctly identified by the coelacanthus named AppleWorks.
Maybe AppleWorks wants that they are available in the User's account Font folder.
Try to duplicate fonts whose name resemble to your original ones from
    "Macintosh HD:Library:Fonts:"
    to
    "Macintosh HD:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Fonts:"
Now, I will try to sleep.

  • Boot problem - Snow Leopard on USB flash drive

Built a fresh install of 10.6 on a USB flash drive.  The steps I took to do this were:
Installing from 10.6.3 install disc onto an external firewire drive with minimal install option.  Drive is hooked into a Mac Pro station
Booted to external drive, installed updates to get to 10.6.8.
Carbon Copy Cloaner the external firewire OS to a 32gb Patriot USB drive
Removed the external drive, then forced the station to boot to the USB drive
The behavior I get is a startup chime, then the grey Apple logo, but NO spinning gear.  No other types of signs or symbols come up for roughly 5 minutes. The system then reboots itself and chimes.  Then repeat until I hard shutdown and make it boot back to the Mac Pro's internal HDD.
I also tried installing the OS disc directly to the flash drive ( after formatting it ) but it does the same thing.  Chime - logo - no gears - reboot.
The drive itself works as I've used it for other purposes and I can see the files on there.  The access light is blinking so it appears to be trying to communicate with the computer.
Did I miss a step somewhere?

  • Font problem in Leopard install

After installing Leopard on G4 iMac previously running Tiger, Mail and TextEdit would quit unexpectedly when I tries to access Fonts. Other existing login accounts, and newly created accounts, were unaffected. Solution was to create a temporary new login account, delete all fonts in yourhomefolder/library/fonts and /font collections, then copy new ones from that newly-created temporary login account (or another existing user's library). Remember to check the privileges to grant read-write access to yourself after the copy.

OS X already has a bunch of chinese fonts installed.
Do you not know how to input Chinese?  If that is the problem, go to system prefs/language & text/input sources and check the box for the Chinese you want, plus the box for "Show Input Menu in Menu Bar", select Chinese in the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen, and type.
If the problem is something else, you must provide more detail for anyone to be able to help.

    Hi!
my MBP 13 (8.1). on Snow OS. It's 2 day old and I have a serious bug!  It was working perfect until batery power down... now won't connect to ANY WIRELESS. I can't turn on and off the airport on my laptop!

I changed all possible setting of the airport (rebust network, 5ghz, 2.4ghz, 801a/b/n, password/no password, default setup, reset, etc...) nothing work for the new laptop anymore, and i did restart, change airport setting, bla bla bal...!
I will try to reset the 2 tings talked over other threads (SCM and PRCAM or something like so...), but ****, it's brand new, don't feel like reset a 2 day old computer... I've been using mac over 20 years, profesionnaly, and now i'm getting despointment... and big time!
    Thx!
    Mr Uneasy

If it's not your hard drive and it's not your system that leaves either your user account or your connection. But that wouldn't account for trash error messages.
Have you tried repairing your usser account by
Booting up holding command-r keys into your Recovery Volume.
From the menu bar choose Utilities then select Terminal.
    At the prompt type resetpassword
    Press return
The Password reset utility will launch (do not reset password)
Instead, click your Mac hard drive.
Then from the drop-down select the user account you want to repair. At the bottom of the window, you’ll see an area labeled ‘Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs’. Click the Reset button there.
The process takes a couple of minutes. When it’s done, quit the programs you’ve opened and restart your Mac.
If it's not that then you need to go to System Preferences > Users & Groups and remove your Login Items and test. I know the problem is that it's intermittent but you'll need to run w/o them for a while or in a fresh test account to see.
