DW MX display issue

I have a new laptop with the Ultra Sharp WSXGA screen with
1680x1050 resolution. Dreamweaver MX looks terrible on it. All
other apps are ok, including Photoshop. Changing the screen
resolution is not an option, as all others throw the screen out of
proportion and/or make everything fuzzy.
In DW MX all of the tab menu titles and panels have tiny bold
unreadable text titles. Enlarging the text only makes big ugly text
in everything else but never touches the tabs or dropdown lists in
DW. I have looked at every control I can think of to change this,
but nothing touches these. I haven't seen anything on this forum or
anywhere else that addresses this. My 2 questions are:
1. Is there a way to correct this in MX?
2. Does DW8 offer a fix for this? If I install the v8 trial
and it doesn't help, can I uninstall it without disturbing my MX
copy?
Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.
Thanks - fishn0te

Yes. All DW installs are separate installations.

I have an iphone 4s that is having display issues. If I turn the phone on, it vibrates to acknowledge it successfully turned on but the screen stays solid black. I can plug the phone into my computer and itunes will recognize the phone as well. However, itunes can not do anything with the phone because the phone is locked and I can not unlock the phone because the screen is black.
    >CURVEBALL!!!<
The screen does work though! Through trial and error along side a little troubleshooting, I was able to figure out that the screen will cut on after the phone dies completely. The phone has to die completely with no battery power left. Then if I plug the phone into a charge and wait a while for it to charge, the phone will turn on like nothing was ever even wrong with it. I charge the phone up to like 30% and turn it off then bam the phone turns on but the screen is solid black again.
I am currently in the process of waiting for the phone to die and when I turn the phone back on I am going to completely remove the auto-lock and lock code off of the phone for the time being.
    Any other suggestions? Please help!

Sounds like the device was dropped at some point and damaged as a result.
Take it to Apple for evaluation and a replacement.

  • Display issue on brand new 2014 X1 Carbon Touch

So I was about to start raving about my X1C that I just received. Loving the display, the keyboard, build quality, etc. I had no gripes and was just browsing away when suddenly the screen did the full glitch. I recognize this as what happens when something's messed with the motherboard/display adapter. So I gave it a reset. All was normal and then it happened again. I was able to replicate it 3-4 times and it keeps happening. I never dropped it or anything. It was always just stationary.
I can't believe this. I had problems with the first gen non-touch and touch. I was hoping by now they have improved.

  • Display Issues with mini (Mid 2010) and LG L246WP

I recently purchased a new mini (Mid 2010 base model) and planned to use it with my 24" LG L246WP monitor, which is about 3 years old. The monitor has VGA, component, and HDMI inputs.
I used an HDMI-to-HDMI cable to connect the mini directly to the monitor, and the output is completely messed up. The mini recognized the monitor (titling the System Preferences > Display dialog with 'L246WP') and set it to the monitor's native resolution of 1920x1200, but on the monitor the image is cropped to what looks like a 4:3 aspect ratio and with part of the image shifted up and left so I cannot view the top menu bar or the left hand side of the desktop. The monitor's on-screen display shows 1080p in this mode.
The Display dialog also gives me an option for 1080p. I can select this and use the Underscan slider to resize the desktop output to fit on the screen, but it is still shifted left and must be resized smaller than the available display space (plus the total image is only 1080 pixels, not using the monitor's full native screen). In this mode, 1080p also shows on the monitor's on-screen display.
I tried 1024x768 to see if I could get a properly-positioned image, but the desktop was shifted just like in the 1920x1200 case and the monitor's on-screen display status still reported 1080p.
The monitor has a menu setting under an HDMI heading with "Video" and "PC" options, but changing this selection does not make a difference.
Since the monitor came out before HDMI was as widespread as it is today, it came with a DVI-to-HDMI cable, so I also tried using that cable with the HDMI-to-DVI adapter that came with the mini, but this did not make a difference either.
To prove it wasn't the HDMI cable, I connected the mini to my Samsung 6300 series 40" LED HDTV and with some tweaking of the Underscan slider the displayed image filled the screen perfectly.
I've searched the Internet and various forum threads (i.e. http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1167222&page=63) seem to indicate this monitor can send a corrupted EDID that causes issues, especially with nVidia graphics drivers. On Windows you can use registry or driver hacks to override the EDID with the correct values, but on OS X this doesn't seem possible (I was hoping for a Terminal one-liner but it seems this doesn't exist). I have seen some mentions of the shareware SwitchResX (http://www.madrau.com), which looks like it gives you the option to override resolution settings, but I haven't tried this yet.
It also appears to me that the monitor is always interpreting the signal (or the mini is always sending the signal) as 1080p, even if I've set 1920x1200 in the Display dialog. I don't know if this is a defect in the monitor where it always assumes the HDMI input is a 1080p source (previous I used it with an Xbox 360 with no issues but that was 1080p HDMI), or if is a bug in the graphics drivers (or at least a lack of flexibility / miscommunication to the user trying to handle a corrupt EDID).
I asked my local Genius Bar for advice today (without bringing any hardware in) but was not told anything I didn't already know.
I'm trying to determine the best way to work through this issue. *My questions are:*
Would it make any difference if I used a Mini DisplayPort-to-DVI adapter (and then my DVI-to-HDMI cable to the monitor's HDMI input)?
What about a Mini DisplayPort-to-VGA adapter? In the past I used a 12" Powerbook (via a mini-DVI-to-VGA adapter) with this monitor and had no display issues like this, but I'd prefer to stick with a digital connection on my brand new mini.
Is SwitchResX the only practical way in OS X to override a corrupt EDID and force the mini to output a certain resolution?
Besides the various adapters and SwitchResX, is there anything else I should try before buying a new monitor?

    Hello EPWilson4984.
I have been experiencing the same issues you described. Connecting my brand new Mac Mini to my Westinghouse 24”monitor (L2410NM,  1920x1200 pixel resolution) produces a very fuzzy and washed out image quality. The Mac recognizes the monitor and applies the right resolution (1920x1200), but it looks just awful. The EDID info is definitely not right.
Now, I tried your suggestion (DVI-to-HDMI), and similar suggestions from other threads, but nothing works. Nothing seems to work at all.
The main input for the monitor is HDMI, so whatever cable I use, in the end always has to connect to the monitor via HDMI. I tried all these combinations with zero success:
Mac mini -> HDMI cable -> monitor (result: fuzzy and blurry image)
Mac mini -> displayport –HDMI adapter-> HDMI cable -> monitor (result: fuzzy and blurry image)
Mac mini  -> displayport –DVI adapter-> DVI-to-HDMI cable -> monitor (result: it gives me a blank screen, no image at all)
I’m running out of options. Don’t know what to do. The 24” monitor produces beautiful, crisp images when hooked to my Windows 7 PC. It looks horrible when connected to my brand new Mac Mini.
Any alternatives you may have come across? Please let me know, thank you.

  • Repeated iMac Problems, Display Issues now Kernel Panics

I’m lost on what’s wrong with my 2008 iMac and I think I just have to bring it back into Apple for a third time to have it repaired. But something is obviously not working that is causing these issues.
About a month ago, my computer began showing heavy pixilation, flickering images and the on-screen graphics. The computer appeared to keep working in the background from what I could tell so I came to conclusion that it must be the graphics card that’s failing and I’ll need to have it looked at.
My 2008 iMac was custom-built by Apple with the Nvidia GeForce 8800GS that was offered as an upgrade option. There have been several posts on the display and graphics discussion board about that graphics card along with other postings other places about the problems the Nvidia GeForce 8-series had.
The display problems I mention above would not happen immediately, it would happen as the computer warmed up and was used for 3-5 minutes.
Anyway I brought my computer into Apple explained to them what I believed was the problem and the Apple Store technician agreed with me. Because I did not purchase AppleCare, it cost me $400 and a week without my iMac to have that card replaced.
I got the computer back two weeks ago and everything seemed fine. It was working as it always had. I even was running SMC Fan Control in order to keep the computer as cool as I could (the Nvidia problem was related to overheating).
But this morning, this is what I woke up to:
    http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/7436/photoijr.jpg
The computer now has a semi-permanent pixilation when it starts up (as suppose to the pixilation 3-5 minutes into use). But more worrisome now is I cannot start up the computer without it going into a kernel panic. I tried resetting the PRAM, I tried starting in safe mode. The only thing I haven’t tried yet is booting from an external HD which I will try this evening (to hopefully isolate it if it’s hardware or a software problem).
The Apple Hardware Test has been unhelpful. When it originally failed three weeks ago, the test showed nothing and this morning when I ran it (permanent pixilation and all), it showed nothing. I feel like if it was a software issue the pixilation would have disappeared during the hardware test because that’s not an OS-X based program.
Here are my specs on this computer:
2008 iMac 24" 2.8ghz Intel Core Duo, 4 gigs of RAM (Crucial Purchased, I have original sticks somewhere), 1 TB HD, Nvidia GeForce 8800GS.

Hi, just to update you, I came home today and did a few things that didn't seem to solve my Mac's problems:
    - I booted up from my firewire "safe" drive that I keep a copy os x on to see if I had a corrupted hard drive or something. It booted into the kernel panic I described above.
    - I also swapped out the crucial RAM for Apple's factory RAM. It also booted into the Kernel Panic.
In both incidents, the display issues didn't go away. Now instead of pixelization i have vertical bars running in a pattern across my screen.
I'm currently trying to boot onto the OS X CD at this point to see if I could do a reinstall. It's taking quite awhile to boot into that.
With that in mind, I think we're still having graphics card issues or more seriously some logic board problem.

  • Bizarre & Random Dashboards Display Issues/Errors

    Hello,
I am on BI 4.1 SP04 and these dashboards were developed using an equivalent level on the client tool. (4.1 SP04)
Sometimes we get very strange and often random display issues with our dashboards. I have attached screen shots for examples. Sometime we are missing data points from rendering on the charts, other times a line chart will extend into a bar chart.  Has anyone experienced this or have any idea what could cause this? It is very frustrating...
    Thanks for looking,
    Gary
Missing data points on yellow line, yet line rendering with proper data (other wise would have 0's in places, etc)
Green line missing dot on last end point
In this example there are no dots on the yellow line or green line
In this example the blue line has turned into massive columns extending across the charts

This patch should resolve the issue in the last screenshot. I still face the other issues after upgrading to SP3 Patch 4. The dots in line chart take some time to appear. Also, if we use dynamic visibility, the components taking considerable time to appear sometimes. I hope this will also be fixed in later patches. Please share your experience too after applying the patch.

  • Multi User Calendar Display Issue

When we moved to GW2012 one of our departments that uses a Multi User calendar (5 users in total) noticed some strange display issues.
When User1 is looking at her Multi User Calendar, the client is displaying her appointments in User2's column as well. But if you look at User2's Multi User calendar, you don't see any of User1's appointments in User2's column, so it appears to be a display issue with User1. This same issue is happening with one other user.
All users are on Client 12.0.2, Build 108211 . Interestingly if we look at the calendar on a machine running the GW8 client this display issue does not occur. I have also gone as far as rebuilding the calendar from scratch but this hasn't changed anything.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Steve

  • MacBook Pro Startup and Display Issues

I've been having some random problems with my MacBook Pro (2.16 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 100 GB 7200 rpm hard drive, ATI Radeon X1600 graphics). Specifically:
    1. Lines across the screen and purple boxes sometimes appear.
    2. The graphic effects (e.g. zooming a window) sometimes get "frozen" on the screen. In other words a remnant from the animation will stay until the window is refreshed.
    3. The Mac sometimes freezes during the startup process. Sometimes the login screen will be unresponsive and other times the Mac will almost bootup but fail when loading startup items.
    4. Less frequently the Mac will freeze randomly. I previously had iStat Menus installed and each time the MacBook Pro froze up it indicated both read and write disk activities.
Yesterday I decided to wipe the machine clean and start from scratch in case there were a software issue or corruption on the hard drive that was causing my woes. I completely erased my hard drive and even zeroed the entire disk to make sure everything was completely wiped out. I also disconnected all peripherals to simplify things as much as possible.
The first time I tried the reinstall everything completed successfully but the "Welcome" movie froze part way through. I then had problems running the install again. I was able to boot off the Leopard DVD, but the machine froze a couple of clicks into the install procedure. After numerous tries I was able to erase the hard drive once again and install Leopard. This completed successfully and I installed all updates.
The problems started to show up again almost immediately, however. I installed iLife and iWork and all the updates and had the computer freeze up on me again during a reboot. I also noticed that the display issues started to show up again even before installing any third-party software.
I've tried running disk tests with Drive Genius 2.1, but no errors have been reported. I've also used the freeware Rember program to run memory tests but have yet to see any errors. Sometimes my Mac powers up without any problems and once it's powered up it often stays running for days. The display issues appear quite frequently. I've using iStat Menus to keep an eye on the temperature sensors and everything appears to be normal - so it doesn't appear to be temperature related.
Fortunately the computer's still covered under the extended AppleCare warranty, but I would like to have some idea what's going on before I take it in just in case they're not able to reproduce the issues.
Any suggestions and insights would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance for reading my rather long-winded message.
    Cheers,
    Tim

I took my MacBook Pro in for repair and it turned out to be an issue with the logic board. I had the logic board replaced (fortunately it was covered under my extended AppleCare warranty) and these problems are a thing of the past.

  • 13" Macbook (black), Snow Leopard, Boot Camp, Windows 7 display issue

OK I don't know where to post this. I couldn't find an appropriate forum under Boot Camp (nothing for display). Apologies if this is the wrong forum.
I am attempting to run Windows 7 using Boot Camp. Here is the behavior:
Booting Windows 7 without any monitor plugged in works fine.
Booting with an external monitor plugged in, I get the display on the external monitor. Now when I unplug the external monitor, the LCD display backlight is off and is completely dim. I had to reboot it in order for the LCD display to work again.
This is not a macbook display issue. But it has to do something with the way Windows 7, BootCamp are compatible with a macbook. Anyone seen this or know what the fix is?
    Thanks
    Sri

I can not get my Win 7 (32) os to see my Mac 10.6 partition. Is there something I need to set or turn on to get this to work?
As for your problem, perhaps Windows is not seeing the FireWire bus?

  • Pixelated enlarged screen - display issues related to external hard drive

Hi.  I had an external hard drive plugged into my macbook.  I have a second monitor hooked up.  My screen is pixelated and enlarged (I have to scroll to see the whole desktop).  The icons are rearranged and very blurry. Everything is blurry and enlarged.  My files will open, but they are all blurry as well.  When I noticed these display issues, I realized the mac was not detecting the hard drive that was plugged into the usb port. I  unplugged it and then a LOT of folders with the hard drive name appeared on the desktop and then disappeared.  I know I may have misstepped by unplugging it, but what can I do now?  I have rebooted, shut down, checked zoom and screen resolution settings, and unplugged the monitor.  It's the same when I uplug the second monitor and just view my desktop on the mac.  Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

There is a multitude of posts here addressing the dangers of using Mackeeper. But just look at this:

While this particular problem may not have been caused by Mackeeper, I urge you to uninstall this piece of trash.

  • Display issues in XP with Firefox

I just installed Firefox browser to an old XP machine. I am having display issues: sideways lines and "double vision" even on the home page. I know I have an old video card. That has caused sideways lines in videos before. This is a computer my husband uses and loves! I know its a dinosaur. Besides videos in kids programs, I never have had any display problems just browsing the web. And I can watch YouTube videos just fine in my other browsers.

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.
If there are problems with Flash then you can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

  • Display issues in FCP X on my MBP

    Hi there,
I downloaded FCP X from the App Store this week and installed it and I am having a lot of display issues. My MCP is the 13.3" model from mid 2010 and the graphics card is compatible. I have 8 GB installed, so that should be sufficient as well. The areas where I am having display issues are:
    * I don't see the film strip in the event browser. I do see the listing of the files in the event browser.
    * I can not see the Inspector browser. Clicking on the i icon does not do anything and does not bring up the inspector browser
    * I can not see any of the effects. Clicking on any of the effects buttons does not do anything and does not bring up the effects browser
I also notice that when resizing the FCP window, it does not get repainted properly.
One last thing that is annoying, but I found a work-around for this, is the splash window shows when FCP has loaded. It does not open FCP with the same layout as I last used, in fact it is only showing the menu bar and nothing else.
I hope that someone can help me with any of these problems. I was really excited about getting started with FCP X, but this has been a downer so far....
    Thanks.
    Edwin

    Hi,
i had the same problem when i used the 10.0 version....but i solved in three ways:
    Restarting the computer;
    or
Creating a new event, clic on new event and the old clips appeared like magic in the old event if you try to access it again....
    or
Click and keep pressed the Event icon (the purple star); try to put it in "Machintosh HD" or any hdd you have the event. Magically the clips are again in the browser....
    Try......

  • PDF Document Display Issue - iPad Mini iOS 8.1

I use my iPad heavily doing in-home sales. I rely on a combination of Box, PDF Expert, and Notability to retrieve and create information/documents.
After updating my iPad Mini to iOS 8, I started having a display issue when trying to pull up my pricebook in front of a client from Box, where I've always pulled that document from. It showed me one page, and the rest were blank. I opened it in PDF Expert, thinking it was a Box issue - and this time the document was blurry. Being a good stubborn Irishman, I whipped out my iPhone 4 and opened the document fine in Box.
Afterwards, I download DROPBOX, opened the file in iBooks, deleted applications and re-installed them - all with varying challenges and 0 results. The same document opens up great in my iPhone, just will no longer work correctly on my iPad Mini.
    Anyone else having this issue?

    Hey there Haparari,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your iPad is in recovery mode after running into an issue updating it to the latest version of iOS with iTunes on your computer. Take a look at the article linked below, it provides troubleshooting suggestions that’ll generally resolve that specific alert message that you’re seeing.
Resolve iOS update and restore errors - Apple Support
    Check your security software
Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006. Sometimes security software can prevent your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.
Check your security software and settings to make sure that they aren't preventing a connection to the Apple servers.

  • Photoshop CC display issues

    Hello
I am new to Photoshop CC and I'm having some teething issues.
For many years now I have been using CS3 and have just upgraded to Photoshop CC.
The issues I am having are mainly display issues.  When looking for a file in CS3, I use to be able to see a small picture of the file when selecting a psd file....now in CC I can't see anything, even with the preview on  (see attachment so you understand what I am meaning - first file is the OLD CS3 view and second file is the new CC view
Another issue is, I can't see the extensions in CC.....like: .jpg or .psd etc. How do I change that ??
Can anyone help with my issues ??
    Cheers
    pwhinder

Do you have CC on the same computer as you used for CS3?  What you are showing us is related to your operating system rather than Adobe.  There are various workarounds to show proper thumbnails for PSD files, but we need to know what your operating system is before advising.
An alternative would be to use Bridge, which has thumbnails for all image formats, along with lots of other useful search and display filters.
The file extension is also a function of your operating system.  If you are using Windows, go into Folder options, click on the View tab, and uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types'
    Good luck

  • Display issues on mid 2009 Macbook Pro

I have had a recent intermittent display issue on my Macbook pro. It started a few months ago and is not a constant issue. External displays are fine so it seems to point to a connection between grahpics card and the 13" screen.
You can see an image of the problem here:
Does anyone have experience of similar issues?

i've done a complete rebuild back to 10.6.8 and found that both problems appear to have disappeared, both screen and TV working again since this morning without seeing any issues.
I'm now installing Lion to see if it returns.
the only difference will be that I'm not going to install bootcamp until later, this will be a clean install as before I installed Lion on a previous version of 10.6.8 with bootcamp etc already installed.
maybe this will work, wish me luck

  • Display issue: green, flashing pixels, low resolution on my new MBP 17"

I just bought my MacBook Pro 17" on December 2010 from Authorized Reseller in Dublin.
After couple of days for the first time and now every 2-3 days my MBP's display goes suddenly pixleated with green, shiny pixels and all display appears like low resolution. After closing the lid and opening it again the problem disappears. During that display problem my computer has no issue with performance like: video playing, opening and closing applications, rebooting, etc. Here are some screen shots made by my photo camera during this display issue: http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/809/dsc03872j.jpg http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/6670/dsc03879x.jpg http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/7914/dsc03885z.jpg http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/3830/dsc03881g.jpg
I should mention that I also made a screen shot with Shiftcmd3 combination of keys during this display issue and it appears, as you can see http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/8618/screenshot20110123at204.png as it should be - sharp and clear. One of my friend said that maybe I should reinstall operating system, but my guess is that it isn't software (Snow Leopard) issue. By the way, I have all the latest updates.
Please, can you tell me what is the problem, what is causing it and what should I do?
    Thank you.

Ok, guys, I should update my main post about screen issues on my MacBook Pro 17" 2010 model, because it was quiet a big issue. It was actually problem not with display panel (which was completely replaced and which didn't resolved that screen issue at all) but with motherboard which has been replaced (by Mactivate).
After almost 3 months I can say that the computer had no issues since the repair: no screen issues, no noisy running vents.
I must say I am happy with repair made by Mactivate (actually one of few repair services authorized and recommended by Apple). They arranged the pick up with their own currier with no charge, great communication and most of all - they did everything to resolve this quiet unusual issue with my display.
I really and honestly can recommend Mactivate to anyone in Ireland.
