DW prompting to update flash player that I have already

I am trying to run a flash file in DW.  It is prompting for me to downlowd the newest version of Flash Player, but I already have it.  How does Dreamweaver handle necessary plugins to see html, .fla, .swf files?
Thanks,
Doc
The code in blue highlight is the old code for the template, that DOES work when executed.  It appears its using Shockwave.  The code with no highlight is my code that is asking for an update.  But like I said, my computer is already updated.

Hey Nancy and Jon:
I had place a screen shot of DW of the web page with the update request.  and the .swf code.  I think I know what the problem was, possibly.  There was some code that said if the user had a version of FlashPlayer 6.0 or greater then, prompt them to update.  This is not becaue they were not updated, it seems like it was simply an erroneus request meant to get the general public in the habit of updating thier players.  Maybe???
Any, Nancy, that is a good idea.  I will upload the code (I have it on a local server at the moment) and let you know when its up shortly.
Thanks both  of you!

  • Error to update Flash Player but it is already up to date

I am unable all of a sudden to play Facebook games or even get in to Tech support chat because I am getting an error to update my Flash Player.  When I go to update it I get the message that it is already current.  When following the solutions it shows Shockwave is already enabled.  My pc is 2 months old.  Run Windows 8.

On Windows 8 you need to run Windows Update to update your Flash Player version.
    Check your version at http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-issues-windows-8.html

  • Why are egreetings telling me I need Adobe flash player when I have already downloaded the app?

Why are egreetings telling me that I cannot view a card because I haven't got Adobe flash player when I got the app from the store recently, I am new to the iPad and being a silver surfer I could be doing something wrong. Please help.

There is no Flash Player for the iPad. I don't know what you downloaded, but if it was from the iTunes Store, it wasn't Flash Player. If you search this or the Using iPad forum for "flash", you'll find a number of suggestions as to alternatives to Flash Player, such as Puffin, but whether any will work with the card site you wish to use I can't say; none of the solutions work with all sites.
    Regards.

Thanks cor-el looks like Oracle need to update their linux installation instructions then. If only I'd have known that before doing all sorts to get it working.
    I now have Java in Firefox, Chrome and Seamonkey :) :) :) :) :).

  • Fixing disabled flash player that says it is enabled

I am trying to fix my flash player.  I have had some things that aren't running correctly.  They say I need to update flash player.   I have a Gateway Computer running windows 8.1.  Browser is internet explorer.  I have been getting the run around on the website as far as fixing this thing.  I try to download a new flash player it says it is installed.  The check flash player on your website says that it is disabled.  Through manage Addons, shockwave flash object from unknown pulbisher says it is enabled.  Through Settings<Safety Active X Filtering is not checked.  I tried to go through control panel to uninstall and reinstall flash.  It isn't there.  I tried to overwrite the flash.ocx in windows/system32/macromedia/flash with another one on computer and couldn't.  I don't know what to do.  I did try to download a flash repair program.  It said I had 728 problems but the fix button sent me to buy the program but I didn't know if that was a good idea.

Windows 8.1 and Internet Explorer have elevated the level of unworkable software that microsoft has released to heights that even THEY may never reach again, but I won't hold my breath on that one.
Your problems can be summed up with three words:
    "User-Agent Strings"
That doesn't mean a lot, I'm sure, but it's the root of your problems, and Flash Player has nothing to do with it.
Microsoft "rewrote" the User-Agent Strings for the abomination they call their latest and greatest browser. User-Agent Strings are what websites use to identify the browser you're using and provide the proper content for it's browser engine, like ActiveX stuff, and Flash or HTML5 video. Thanks to the geniuses in Redmond, WA, the User-Agent Strings for IE11 (which has a Trident engine), ID it as either "Gecko" (Firefox) or "Webkit" (Chrome). Problem is: when the site the directs to the content for one of these two engines, the Trident engine in IE can't intepret it and the site then sees IE as an "unidentified" browser.
The problem with an unidentified browser is that the plug-ins in that browser aren't recognized either, so even though you're up to date, it says you need the latest Flash Player when you use IE11. YouTube... has converted to HTML5 video so if it doesn't detect Flash Player, it can display HTML5 (MP4) video which requires no plug-in to play. Facebook can't do that, because HTML5 doesn't apply to games... only video.
Microsoft has no plans to "fix" the mess thay've created because they think it's a great idea to block you out of the websites you visit.
They recommend using "Compatibility View" and pretending that you're using an older verison of IE... Problem with that is that it's seen limited success, and you have to enable it for EVERY page that has problems... individually.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • How to create a Flash player that multiply source.

    Hi,
I am trying to create a embedded flash player that can have
at least 2 source link of the FLV files. Which mean if the first
source link of the FLV file is not accessiable, then the player
will go to the second source. How can i do this? Thanks

You CAN'T do it with Flash Player. You'd need Flash Professional and you'll need to learn Actionscript. I've been through the Lynda.com training for Flash, and it's not something you learn in a few minutes or even hours, or can be gleened from a guide. It takes days and possibly weeks, even if you're already good with Photoshop and/or Illustrator and Fireworks.

  • How can I update the "basic" Adobe Flash Player that is in my Samsung Smart TV?

How can I update the "basic" Adobe Flash Player that is in my Samsung Smart TV?

Any update would come from Samsung, but in low-margin products like TVs, it's pretty uncommon for OEMs to provide ongoing maintenance over a large span of years.  You may find that you'll get a better experience from a dedicated streaming box like ChromeCast/Roku/etc.

  • HT5655 I followed all the instructions to update Flash Player, but the installation fails at around 90%, it says that there is an Application running (Safari) bit I actually close all Apps. already. can someone help me with this issue ?? Thanks

I have followed the instructions to update Flash Player, the Installation Fails at about 90%, it says that there is an Application running (Safari) and it says to close all the apps. and start again ... but I already close all the Applications ... none is running ... can someone help me with this issue ??? Thanks ...

    Dear Dominic
Brilliant reply. Simple English. Simple to follow instructions. And it worked immediately, first time.
Why couldn't the Apple and Adobe corporations get their programming right first time? We spend billions of UK pounds and US dollars with them. They reply with incompetent programming such as this, and arrogance to their customers in issuing faulty systems without doing the most rudimentary checks.
Anyway, I certainly shan't be buying another Apple as this is the most unreliable, most incomprehensible, most illogical and downright thoughtless shoddy piece of computer kit which I have ever owned. And all of it is rubbish ~ emails disappear, photos can't be organised properly, spreadsheets don't work, Pages is laborious… the list goes on and on...
But thanks to you Dominic, I have been able to load Adoble Flashj… maybe eyou should get  a job at Apple, and set them all on the right course to how to work simply and correctly with customers.
    Thanks again,
    David

  • I was informed via Secunia that I needed to update Flash Player and then was given link to do so.

I was informed via Secunia that I needed to update Flash player and then downloaded the new version.  After going into Adobe to see if I was installed correctly I found that the program was installed and I had the new version 10.0.45.2.   When I try to play a game that I have been playing for months, I get the message that I need Flash Player version 8 or above.   What am I doing wrong and what do I need to do now?

    Thanks for your response.

What confuses me is that most of not all of the dates say 1/26/10.  Doesn't give a date of yesterday when I did Flash Player for Firefox.  Is that normal?
Bottom line -- I can now do the games in Firefox that I haven't been able to play since I installed Firefox.  Wouldn't let me play some other video files as well.
I am still unable to do slow scrolling in e-mail or other webpages when I make the page full screen.  that is only in Comcast and not AOL.  It must be a Comcast problem so will have to get in touch with them.
Let me know if all my files in Flash are okay.

  • Being prompted to update Flash, ignore?  v11.2.202.228 and v11.2.202.229 Google Chrome

Just prompted by Adobe that an upgrade to Adobe Flash Player is available – within the bullets say includes security enhancements.
Two weeks ago I was made aware that there were security vulnerabilities with Flash.  My laptop was infected (3/26).  One of the recommendations from my anti-virus software company was to keep all Adobe products updated, especially Flash.  Also, I was given the recommendation to consider choosing a less common browser than IE; he used Google Chrome which has its own security features.  I had used Chrome once before when it was beta but downloaded the new Chrome, set security settings and testing it out.  A few days later, someone I know also in the IS community said their company (a large international company) is uninstalling all Adobe products from all of their employee computers completely.
In reading the Developer Release Notes, this upgrade is for v11.2.202.228.
The Adobe Flash website section detects I have v11.2.202.229 installed.  The latest version listed underneath was .228.  I questioned how I could have a newer, higher number, version if .228 is the latest release? This was odd, needed an answer and to verify I was current.
In reading the Security Bulletin, it says… “These priority 2 updates address critical vulnerabilities in Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.63 and earlier versions for Windows, Macintosh, Linux and Solaris, and Adobe Flash Player 11.1.111.7 and earlier versions for Android 3.x and 2.x. These vulnerabilities could cause a crash and potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system… … …Adobe recommends users of Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.63 and earlier versions for Windows, Macintosh and Linux update to Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.228 … … ...can install the update via the update mechanism within the product when prompted. Google Chrome will be updated automatically, so no user action is required. Google Chrome users can verify that they have updated to Google Chrome version 18.0.1025.151, which includes Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.229.”
This answered my question.  I am current…and then I found an Adobe forum thread asking if 11.2.202.229 files installed in the correct place.  I am deducing from the bulletin that the v.229 is designed with content or files specific for Google Chrome. And I am also deducing I was prompted that a new update is available because Flash Auto Update is looking for any version other than or is “not v.228” and not looking for “both v.228 AND v.229 files” on one’s computer? Concluding that I should ignore this prompt, check “do not remind me about this update” now and in the future if using Chrome [but I would still always need to verify Flash has been updated on my computer or verify I have the latest version of Google Chrome, before ignoring]? And if I do choose not to continue using Google Chrome (uninstall), I should then resume with manual updates.  Please provide feedback.
If true, my recommendation to Adobe would be to design the Flash Auto Update to search for *all* versions related to the latest release to avoid a false prompt from appearing and/or *also include within the text of the standard Auto-update prompt’s window the same verbiage as within the Security Bulletin (which is not normally read by users) regarding Google Chrome, directing that no user action is required. It may or may not be harmful for someone to proceed with installing v.228 when they already have v.229… meanting it may not delete or replace any important files specific to Google Chrome and protecting against security vulnerability as it might be that .229 may only have a few additional files. *Another recommendation would be that both the .228 and .229 v for Google Chrome be listed as the latest release on Adobe Flash website page and release content.  This may have been a timing issue.  Google/Adobe might want to re-consider the timing/order in which they deploy their versions or re-consider the auto-update feature within Google Chrome all in itself to avoid confusion, avoid the need to then verify it anyway afterwards (an added step in itself) and avoid Google Chrome users that are completely unaware of this and what action to take, from updating to a different incompatible version that could possibly conflict with the requirements of Google Chrome or its security.  However, everything would be resolved by the first recommendation.  I did wonder why I just got prompted today for a release on March 28th, but luckily it looks like I have the latest version.  And I did find it interesting how I noticed underneath the install for Adobe AIR that you may have to disable your anti-virus before installing.
I look forward to your feedback to my question confirming whether or not I should just to ignore this update.  In effort to prevent PCs from future attacks, I provided my feedback and recommendations.  Thank you.

Hi thanks, I have Vista 64 bit. Both of these directories or folders exist. Here are the files they contain.
    \System 32\:
    Flash64_11_1_102.ocx
    FlashUtil64_11_1_102_ActiveX.dll
    FlashUtil64_11_1_102_ActiveX (2/19/2012)…v11.1.102 so should I install.
    FlashInstall
    \SysWOW64\:
    Flash9f.ocx
    Flash11f.ocx
    FlashUtil9f (10/16/2008)
    FlashUtil11e_ActiveX (2/6/2012)
    FlashUtil11f_ActiveX (2/16/2012)
    FlashUtil11f_ActiveX.dll
    FlashInstall
    install
Chrome was installed after 3/26.  I am guessing these are for Active X for IE and they don’t look like the latest version. As I mentioned, when I checked with Adobe to see what version is running on my system it only displays the latest version for Google Chrome which is a current one.  So one (a user) wouldn’t know of the other versions that need to be updated.  You are correct that I thought there was only one version on my system.  Thanks for informing me, I didn’t even search or think of that.  If I forcefully download the update anyway, will it update both of these directories?
Also when you say, “Manually downloading or updating Flash Player from Adobe will not affect Chrome's installation of Flash Player.” I realize moving forward it wouldn’t affect future Chrome installs but did you also mean downloading .228 when I have .229 will not affect this currently the installed version?..…if built-in, does Google Chrome store any files on my system or is it completely built-in?

  • I have tried to update flash player and when I put in my password, it is rejected.  I have recently updated my email address and changed my password, but adobe will not accept.  Can I get help, please, to update flash player?

I have tried to update flash player and when I put in my password, it is rejected.  I have changed my email and password and have so informed adobe, but I am still unable to install flash player update.  How can I update adobe flash?

This password prompt is presented by your operating system, and is intended to keep you from accidentally installing software.
If this is your personal machine and you don't need a password to log into the computer when it first starts up, you can probably leave the password blank and click OK to get past this prompt.  If this is your personal machine and your normal password isn't working, check to make sure that CAPS LOCK is off, and type the password carefully.
If this is your work machine and it's asking for an Administrator password, well, you'll need to have a conversation with your friendly IT person.

  • Anyone know the secret to updating flash player on iMac OS X?

I just got an iMac OS X v. 10.4.11 PowerPC G5.  safari shuts down if I go to youtube and I can't seem to download flash player update.  My husband and I are recent converts to Mac and obviously have a lot to learn lol.  We were thinking last night that Safari would quit because Youtube is a video site and maybe perhaps the version on this comp is so old that it just didn't work?  Thing is, if I am on any other site like and click on a video to watch it, it just prompts me to download newer version of flash player but Safari stays open.  It's just for Youtube that it does this.  I'm a sad panda because I go to youtube all the time.  When I went to download the flash update, it just said something like my operating system is too old and requires a version of flash that is no longer supported.  D:  Any tips for a noob?

The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFl ash
You can check here what version of Flash player you actually have installed:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version, 10.2.152.25, 10.3.x beta, or later, is for Intel Macs only, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.0.1.152 is for Lion.
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. The first one on the list, Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

  • Fake request to update flash player

    Hi,
when I go to a website by safari or any other web browser such as chrome, there is a warning pop-up about requested to update flash player such as "http://facebook.com WARNING ! Your Flash Player may be out of date. Please update to continue". I tried to deleted all web browser data, history also and restarted the Ipad. But the problem is still happen. Please advise me how to solve it or do you think it it a virus?
    Tks

Hi all, I got the same problem as you all. I couldn't go into Google, Facebook & Youtube, which the virus immediately prompt me to update with Flash player pro. But today I sucessfully fixed it. You all may refer to below as referennce steps:  1) Hard reset your modem back to factory setting and after reseting done re-setup your DSL modem based on your ISP provided log on information.  2)I did have apple airport express, which I also doing the same hard reset and changing all my password & SSID naming.  That's all is what I did to fixed the problem.   I believe the infection was came from ISP which after I updated my IP TV from my country set top box (Android OS base) 2 days ago, guess this kind of virus will attack & infected the modem/Router. I do not believe Mac OS X 10.9.2 can easily get infected by virus. (Past 5 years using Mac & iOS mobile device never ever get any single virus attack)  Hope this will help..  B/Regards...Alex Ooi

  • Update Flash Player Multiple iMac's

    Hello Everyone,
I work in an elementary school in ohio. I have been working with apple remote desktop trying to install adobe flash player in a lab we have.  We use a generic login in our lab and everywhere else so that the little kids do not have to remember a username and password. I am trying to avoid having to update 40 computers at once by hand. I went to the lab and downloaded the update for adobe flash, but before installing i right clicked and did a show package contents. I then went to the resources folder and then contents folder and found the .pkg file in there. I had read on other forums that installing this would suffice to installing the update.  I used apple remote desktop to install the pkg file and forced the computers to restart, after it came back up I logged in  as the generic login and low and behold it still wanted me to update flash player. If anyone has any good advice for my situation I would greatly appreciate it!!!
    -School Tech Guy

You will have a better chance of getting an answer in the Remote Desktop forum.
