DW8 and DWcs3

Can I install DW CS3 on the same computer - on the same hard
drive - with DW8?

    I have DW8, and bought CS3 upgrade (actually, Studio 8 to CS3
    Web Standard).
I need to be able to keep DW8 as is, with all extensions.
Will installation of the CS3 upgrade screw up my current Studio 8
    installation/configuration?

    Tom:
If I use your first method listed, will I then be able to
    install the
    updated version of the extension?

  • Remote host ftp error dw8 and Mac OS X using airport

I'm learning PHP at a local tech school and can put files and
can connect to my SQL database at the school using DW CS3 and Win
XP. I have a wired connection at school. However, when I try to
work on my site at home on my Mac using OS X 10.4.11 and DW8 I
receive the error: "An FTP error occurred cannot make connection to
host. The remote host cannot be found.
I'm am using passive ftp in dw8 and in my network preferences
on my Mac. I've double checked my settings for the site definition
and cannot find anything wrong. I'm using the same site definition
at school and at home. Since I can connect at school I think it may
be a problem with my firewall and airport. FTP on port 21 is
    allowed under firewall preferences.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I am thoroughly
    confused!

If you home is not on the same network as your school I'm
    surprised you can
connect via Transmit because 10.4.11 is not a valid IP
    address. Addresses
starting in the 10.0.0.0 -> 10.255.255.255 range are in a
    reserved block

  • DW8 and "browser-safe" scripts

I don't know if this is a bug in DW8 or a local problem, and
it's not really important either way, but I did want to get it off
my chest. When I open a HTML page containing a Shockwave movie
embedded with an <object> tag into DW8, I get the prompt that
the <object> tag may not work properly with recent versions
of IE, and do I want to use a browser-safe script instead? Out of
curiousity I've given this a go and uploaded a test page, and
amusingly the page now gives two runtime errors in IE6 which prompt
you to run the Microsoft Debugger - see
    http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/nursing/sonet/test/dyslexia_test/2.html.
No such problem in Mozilla 1.7, of course. This is probably caused
by there being other Javascript scripts on the page, but it did
make me chortle anyway. "Browser-safe", eh? ;-)
I was hoping that the fix might kill the irritating but
non-fatal IE prompt you sometimes get on pages with Shockwave
movies, which prompts you to click Ok to run ActiveX content, but I
think I'll live with that rather than runtime errors...
    Cheers
    Fred

    "Browser-safe", eh? ;-)
Definitely. Are you talking shockwave or Flash? The former is
    for Director
files, the latter is for errr Flash files.
Anyhow, your two errors are -
    Line 2, syntax error.
    Line 159, object expected.
Fix the first by removing this line -
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
It's not needed, and furthermore, it hurts you by putting IE
    into quirks
mode. I'm not quite sure why it's throwing this js error
    though. <shrug>
The second error is caused by your failure to upload the
    Scripts folder,
which contains the function called on line 159 -
    <script type="text/javascript">
    AC_SW_RunContent( '
Do those things and you'll see a difference.

  • Installing DW8 and DW CS3

I have some extensions that does not work with DW CS3, so I
would like to keep using DW 8, but I would like to get familiar
with DW CS3 also. How can I install both on the same machine
without messing up the extensions? I am Mac OSX.
Thanks in advance for your time.

I installed Dreamweaver CS3, updated it. Then I installed
Dreamweaver 8. They are both in different folders and so is their
own extension managers. Now when I open the extension manager for
DW8, I cannot see the Dreamweaver 8 in the 'Active Product'
drop-down box. When I select the mxp and have it open it with DW 8
Extension manager it says that I need to have DW MX or greater
installed. I have both installed, but no go.
Any insight on how you got both to work simultaneously
    ?

  • DW8 and Flash

My apologies, I'm not sure if I properly conveyed my problem.
After getting the error message (at bottom of this post), I went on
Adobe and found a Tutorial entitled "Presenting Video with the
Flash Video Component in Dreamweaver 8" at the link below:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/flv_tutorial.html
    The tutorial says:
The Macromedia Flash Video component in Dreamweaver 8 helps
you easily insert and display Flash Video (FLV) files in your
websites. This article shows you how to use Macromedia Dreamweaver
to insert and display FLV files on your site, using a template
    website.
First I got the error message when working on my own DW8
website. Then on the above Adobe Tutorial I got the same error
message when I got to step 3 on page 3 of this tutorial:
Select Insert > Media > Flash Video from the main menu
to launch the Flash Video Component.
    Error message:
"Making this change would require changing code that is
locked by a template or translator."
Any help you may be able to provide is appreciated.
    Kind regards,

  • Newbie with DW8 and Spry 1.5

Hi. I'm not sure where to find information about integrating
1.5 into Dreamweaver 8? Should I just wait for 1.6? What can, or
    can't I, do? Thanks

    Hi,
If we have done our jobs correctly, it should be pretty
straightforward to figure out. Check the Spry docs:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/Docs.html
    and samples:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/
We don't have any plans to make an extension for DW8. We made
some code changes to DW CS3 that made it easy to incorporate things
like widgets and code hinting into the product. DW8 doesn't have
those enhancements and therefore making DW8 support Spry would be
    tedious.
    Thanks,
    Don

  • Migrate preferences from DW8 to DWCS3

information or, possibly, the steps needed to accomplish
    this.

    It is.

  • DW8 and Recordset collation

    Hi everyone
My problem is not new but i didn't solve it completely. When
i working with PHP MySQL server model in Dreamweaver 8 i have the
collation problem with results on my pages. It can be well when the
adding this code after mysql_select_db() line in the pages.
    the fixing code is;
    mysql_query("SET NAMES 'latin5'");
well, problem was solved however the recordset is damaged in
DW Bindings panel and i didn't use the drag-drop properties
    anymore.
I wonder that, the developer can add collation support for
PHP MySQL recordsets in DW for new versions or publish a fix
extension for this problem. It would be so nice, wouldnt it?
whatever i try the modify the DW's ServerBehaviors commands
for this, it was worked but a mysql error appear on the Bindings
    panel. I changed ~Dreamweaver
    8\Configuration\ServerBehaviors\PHP_MySQL\Recordset_main.edml
source code for first step and i get this error message from
bindings panel. Is there anyone has idea for solves of this
problem. It can be very helpful for other collation needed
    developers :)
    thanx everyone already now

i made an extension for this please check this out
    http://www.dw.gen.tr/?module=files&page=download&id=275

  • HELP!  DW8 and IE7

Has anyone experienced this and can I fix it???
    Liz

could be related to the IE update. You have to now click on
the swf to activate it. Click your swf first and then try the
rollover. Read here how to fix the IE update problem:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/activecontent/articles/devletter.html
You can read it and try the code, but I can tell you now that
the Dreamweaver update nor the code works. For, now you are stuck
with your users having to click on the flash element to activate
    it.

  • What's problem with File Panel?

    Hi All!
I'm web designer, while developing my site, my work is
breaking a problem with File management of DMX.
First, I develop site in DMX8 (ASP + SQL), then when I open
that site in DMXCS3 - Note: all file still in only one Folder in
HDD on (D\: Drive), (example: photo-editor.asp), this file content
is last time modify. And when I open again this file in DMX8 - the
file content of this file (photo-editor.asp) not same with new
version in DMXCS3. It is old version!.
I don't understand why that. (note: I don't check Enable
cache in Local info in Site Definition). Please help me about this
    problem!
    Thank for All!

Are both versions (DW8 and DWCS3) using the SAME local site?
    Look in your
site definition in both versions of DW, and tell us what the
    path is to the
    local root folder, please.
