Paging the font of all knowledge!
In my CSS display window I have lost the 'tree' display -
it's now
showing the individual properties per item in a grid box -
how do I get
the original tree display back??
TIA!

  • Reports 6i windows display problem on Windows NT system

    Iam using Reports 6i on Windows NT.All the reports 6i windows are became transporent windows, displying problem (repainting problem). I did fresh installation. But iam not able to solve this.

    I am using same fonts on all these plateforms.Look more closely at those fonts. They may have the same names, but the Windows 2000 versions may be larger (able to render more characters).

  • Lion Finder active window display problem

    I'm running 10.7.3 on my MB Pro.  I have all the latest-and-greatest updates.  However, this quirk only started to appear with Lion and has appeared in all versions to date.  I'm wondering if I'm the only one who has this problem.
    Here it is:  Whichever Finder window that is active used to pop to the front (or "on top of") of all other windows, but often I find that this is no longer the case.
    Example #1:  If I have two windows open and I'm dragging a file from one to another, the dialog box that asks if I want to copy the file often stays buried beneath one/both other windows.
    Example #2:  If I go to drag a file from one window to another window hidden/buried under the first one, it used to be that if I held the file to be dragged over the buried window that it would become "active" and thus move to the front, but now this is often not the case.
    Example #3:  If I go to cycle through open windows using Cmd ` in order to find a buried window, often the buried window will not move to the top.
    In all these instances, even using Expose to show open windows will not bring the desired window to the front.  I was hoping that this bug would be noticed in 10.7.0 and be corrected by now, so either it's a bug or maybe I've got something set up wrong.  Somebody enlighten me!

    I've had the exact same problem with Lion.  Telephone support told me to reinstall OS X Lion, which didn't help. The genius at the Genius bar told me it was my 3rd party (Kingston) RAM.  He demonstated the display was fine without the extra RAM, but he was using a USB mouse with a scrollwheel.  At home, my bluetooh magic mouse continued to cause the same problem, and so did my trackpad.  So I determined it had to do with the faster (and different type of) scrolling that these newer devices perform.  I then saw that if I use the slider on the right side of the finder window instead of gesturing with the mouse or trackpad it works fine.
    So I played with my settings a bit to see if I could overcome this problem, and found a solution.  I went to "Preferences-General-Show scroll bars" and changed from "Automatically based on input device" to "Always".  This nearly fixes the problem!  At least so far.  I get an occasional glitch if I scroll up and down a lot, but way less frequently than when its set to the default "Automatically based on input device".  This must be due to the new disappearing scrollbar "feature" in Lion.  Nicely done, Apple!

  • Outlook window display problem

    Hello,
    My Outlook window has turned weird... I can't access the left handside commands (see below) and the window would not resize anymore. Any idea what may be happening? I am running Mavericks and Outlook 14.3.8...
    Thanks!
    Olivier

    I have exactly the same problem with annoying window problems after Mavericks update. Was definitely not a good idea to update to Mavericks Have tried all the other fixes (resolution, killing, other user...) but no fix found. I have tens of gigs of e-mails, some of them on my hard drive, some of them on the server. What would be the best way to "recreate the user account" and get my e-mails, applications and other files smoothly back in use? Thanks for the help!
    Best regards,

  • Using Boot Camp to install Windows XP: problems with display going blank

    I have a new Mac mini (early 2009) connected to an older NEC MultiSync LCD (VGA only) display through a KVM.
    I initially used the Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter to make the display connection.
    All worked fine with Mac OS X, but when I attempted to use Boot Camp to install Windows XP (Home), the display would go blank with the display saying "no signal" at some point during the install and I couldn't get the mini's display back without power cycling the mini. Numerous attempts at removing the Boot Camp partition, re-partitioning, and retrying resulted in nothing but frustration. I typically had to force the mini to boot from the OS X install DVD or Mac partition to make the mini usable again.
    I have used my LCD display and KVM combination with a variety of computers running a variety of operating systems, including older Mac minis running both Mac OS X and XP, with no problems. And I intend to keep using it, so I wasn't going to assume the problem was there!
    After noting that Apple had already released a [firmware update|http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mini_DisplayPort_to_VGA_FirmwareUpdate] for this adapter to address "[possible intermittent flickering and compatibility issues|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3492]", I double checked that it was up to date--and it was. But, it made me suspicious that this adapter might have some more problems and be the source of the troubles I was experiencing.
    So, I got an Apple Mini-DVI to VGA adapter and tried that.
    No more display problems! Everything works fine with Mac OS X. Windows XP installed without so much as a flicker, and it works smoothly with my setup.
    I'm curious if I'm the only one who was affected by this problem?

    Restart your Mac while holding down the Alt/Option-key until you get to the Boot Selection Screen.
    Choose to boot OSX.
    Use the BootCamp Assistant to remove the Windows partition.
    Go to System Preferences then Startup Volume and rest the default to be your OSX volume.
    Reboot your Mac again.
    Follow the instructions from here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3173 and use the BootCamp Assistant again to install Windows 7

  • Windows 7 64 bit on iMac display problems and instability

    I received my iMac 27" quad core with 8 gig ram & 2 x 1 TB hard drives last Friday. I'm using Boot Camp to run windows 7 64 bit on maximum 2560 x 1440 screen resolution.
    I get intermittent but often display problems in windows 7. I get areas of the screen covered in little yellow dots or blue squares (never red artefacts.) This will happen at random areas of the screen, inside an open window, around borders of windows and so on. Most often the screen will go black and come back with a message in the bottom right corner of the screen saying 'Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered' with the sub message saying 'display driver ATI radeon family stopped....etc'. Sometimes I lose the screen wallpaper. Once I've had the system just shut down, once I've had Photoshop seize up and I had to do a cold reboot. Could this be an overheating problem or resolution too high problem or driver problem? Windows 7 tells me my drivers are up to date. I tried installing the drivers for the card from ATI's website which made no difference
    The reason I bought a Mac is because it's the only effective way to code for the Mac family of OS's in XCode. The reason I didn't just attach a miniMac to my PC monitor was because there's rather a lot of advertising by Apple about the fact that you can use a Mac with a PC OS via Apple's own Boot Camp. Now I have a lot of Windows software (some of which is not available for the Mac or requires buying again) sitting on an unstable system. Any ideas would be much appreciated...

    Sorry, that thread got moved for edit and as a user tip... which I didn't want and won't be doing....
    Here is the post:
    A tip and workaround for how to get ATI mobility/laptop drivers so that Windows no longer thinks the ATI is a desktop card:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11286987
    Summary (my own edit steps):
    1. Install Boot Camp 3.0 and upgrade to 3.1
    2. Uninstall graphic drivers and run Driver Sweeper
    http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/
    instead of:
    removing the crashing driver by going into windows 7 setup via its install cd and deleting the ati driver manaully
    3. Install ATI Mobility (link)
    4. Uninstall ATI (Programs control panel?) Device Manager (rollback; uninstall?)
    5. Device Nanager: update driver and BROWSE BACK to 8.681 (the original apple driver that was causing freezes and purple artifacts) - navigate to /Apple/Drivers/ATI
    (Apple uses) a 4850 card in the iMac, its modified a bit for apple. Enough that desktop drivers don't work, and modded-for-laptop desktop drivers don't work either.
    Now the upshot of using modified drivers is that it FORCES the catalyst control panel to be installed, meaning you get a few more options to mess around with the card.
    I couldn't use the original apple drive, it locks up, the newer one had banding, the newer radeon drivers direct form ATI wouldn't work until they were modded and then they cause black screens.
    SO the solution, as obscure as it was, was to download ACTUAL mobility Radeon drivers - version 10.3 still, but made for laptops.
    http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
    THESE drivers I was able to install - and here is where things changed.
    THIS driver changed they way windows saw the video card in device manager.
    As I mentioned before, its NOT a desktop card, its a modified laptop card, but installing mac drivers makes windows THINK its a full desktop card, and running the original 8.681 driver crashed it.
    Once installed 10.3 LAPTOP driver it now appeared in device manager as a MOBILITY card.
    +These Steps "should" work:+
    delete ATI driver manually
    reinstall apple driver after that and see if that works,
    otherwise try the steps above
    (mod drivers, remove via windows recovery off setup disk, install laptop drivers, reinstall apple driver over it)

  • CR 2008 UI display problems on Windows Vista

    Hi all,
    I have just installed CR 2008 SP2 on my Windows Vista PC, and I am intermittantly having UI display problems when I go between "Design" and "Preview" views of my reports. It seems most often that the "Design" view has the screen redraw problem, in the left-hand sction where is shows Groups / Parameters / Find results. It basically fails to redraw the screen in that area, showing what was on the screen before.
    I had previously run CR XI on this workstation with no problems.
    Is this a known problem, or does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Will

    Hi Will,
    Your monitor size does not matter, unless it's very low resolution, big issue is the drivers they use and something like this is typical of driver problems. My son is gamer and he finds problems like this all the time, even between different versions of the the updated drivers.
    If you don't want to update those drivers CR can not add code to work around a buggy video driver. You can always un-install them if they break something else.
    You don't need the CD/DVD to do a repair install, go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and select Crystal. It should give you an option to repair.
    Thank you

    I have read your post on how you have downgraded your system from Windows 8 (64-bit) to Windows 7 (32-bit), and that your system is displaying a atikmdag.sys. I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
    According to the available drivers and software for your computer, Windows 7 is only supported for the (64-bit) version of Operating System. To maintain a compatible set of drivers on your system, I recommend downgrading to a 64-bit version of Windows 7.
    I hope this helps!

  • Display Problem with RowHeader of a Scroll Pane

    Hi,
    I am trying to display row headers for a table using another table
    Here is the code
    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.swing.table.*;
    public class RowNumberHeader extends JTable {
      protected JTable mainTable;
      public RowNumberHeader(JTable table) {
        super();
        mainTable = table;
        setModel(new RowNumberTableModel());
        setRowSelectionAllowed(false);
        JComponent renderer = (JComponent)getDefaultRenderer(Object.class);
      public int getRowHeight(int row) {
        return mainTable.getRowHeight();
      class RowNumberTableModel extends AbstractTableModel {
        public int getRowCount() {
          return mainTable.getModel().getRowCount();
        public int getColumnCount() {
          return 1;
        public Object getValueAt(int row, int column) {
          return new Integer(row + 1);
    }and then
            JTable displayTable = new JTable(...);
            scrollPane = new JScrollPane(displayTable);
            JViewport jvp = new JViewport();
            jvp.setView(new RowNumberHeader(displayTable));
            scrollPane.setRowHeader(jvp);the problem I have is that when a row is selected inside the row header, some rows go blank and you can see the selection is all screwed up. I tried setting the selection mode to ListSelectionModel.SINGLE_SELECTION but that didn't help.
    A refresh of the entire screen (minimize/maximize) seems to resolve the problem. I am using jdk1.4.1 in Windows 2000.
    Any ideas?
    Sylvain

    Again the problem is that when you click on the row headers, some row header rows go blank (completely white) so you can't see what they show.
    ie say I have table
    Row 1 - 1  2  3
    Row 2 - 2  4  5
    Row 3 - 5  7  7
    Row 4 - 5  6  7where Row X is the row header. So for example, if you click on Row 2, you will get something like
    Row 1 - 1  2  3
    Row 2 - 2  4  5
          - 5  7  7
    Row 4 - 5  6  7until the screen is refreshed or you click some other row header.
    hmm ok, I added calling repaint on the table whenever a row is selected and at least the display problem goes away; however, the selected indexes from the event don't always match the index of the row selected. I think actually that may be the source of the display problem.
    Here is the code I added in the constructor:
            getSelectionModel().addListSelectionListener(new ListSelectionListener()
                public void valueChanged(ListSelectionEvent e)
                    System.out.println("Header table selection is: First = " + e.getFirstIndex() +
                                       " Last = " + e.getLastIndex());
                    RowNumberHeader.this.repaint();
            });

  • What to do if Windows displays an "iTunes.exe - Corrupt File" message

    Greetings fellow Podders, Resident Furball here...
    It is about time that I produced a single post for all the chkdsk issues that we've been discussing since November 2004. The Apple KB article seems to cover the major points succinctly, but we need to address the more serious variations and flavours of the problem.
    <hr>
    What to do if Windows displays an "iTunes.exe - Corrupt File" message
    Many users are coming across this seemingly distressing error message in Windows when connecting their iPods. As described in Apple KB Article 300554, the message reads:
    iTunes: iTunes.exe - Corrupt File
    The file or directory \iPod_Control\iTunes\????????? is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility.
    and the ????????? can be anything (eg. sysinfo, Temp1, DeviceInfo etc.).
    <hr>
    Don't panic!
    If you do see this, don't worry, and don't panic. Contrary to what the error message reads, this issue actually has very little to do with iTunes. The iPod_Control is the key to this - because this folder doesn't even exist in iTunes... it's on the iPod!
    ...so! Installing and uninstalling iTunes really won't do you much good at all... it's the iPod that needs attention.
    <hr>
    What's causing this error?
    To be honest, we don't know. We saw a massive number of reports of this issue back in November 2004, because iPod Updater 2004-11-15 contained a firmware bug that corrupted iPod system files when the Pod entered Deep Sleep.
    But this firmware bug was corrected in iPod Updater 2005-06-26.
    Of late, we have seen a resurgence in chkdsk errors on Discussions. Some of these are caused by the old buggy firmware that people still have. Some of the errors are more serious and are hardware and operating system-related. But we have still to pin down the exact cause of this error.
    <hr>
    Okay, so what do I do if I see this error?
    In short, as Apple have recommended in their KB article:
    Restore your iPod, using the latest iPod Updater.
    Follow the instructions carefully. Ensure that you download the iPod Updater. Ensure that you install it, and then ensure that you run it with the iPod connected and follow the prompts to the letter.
    The broad majority of the errors are painlessly fixed this way. Of course, it does mean that your iPod will be wiped, so make sure that you have your music/data backed up, and/or present in iTunes so you can resynchronise it when you have finished Restoring.
    <hr>
    Okay, I've Restored, but the error is still coming up
    Are you sure you've Restored? Quite a number of folks are assuming that just downloading the iPod Updater is enough. It's not. And neither is downloading iPod Updater, and installing it on your computer. It needs to be implemented on the iPod, according to the iPod Updater instructions.
    Okay, so if you have Restored your iPod, and you are still getting this error, then you have a variety of options available.
    Chkdsk errors that are not fixed with a Restore are most likely down to two things:
    1) A physical issue on the iPod itself
    or
    2) An issue on the computer's operating system
    Here's where it gets woolly. There are a variety of things you could try...
    Format the iPod in Windows
    This would usually have the same effect as a Restore, but a deep-level format in Windows is something that Apple have recommended in the past, as a last resort to completely wipe the iPod before performing a Restore with iPod Updater. This process wipes the iPod.
    To do this:
    1) Enable Disk Mode on the iPod. You can do this either in iTunes (which is best), or manually on the iPod itself.
    2) Open My Computer and locate your iPod
    3) Right-click the iPod and select Format
    4) Leave the parameters set at their defaults, and ensure Quick Format is unchecked
    5) Hit Format
    6) Then Restore your iPod as normal.
    Run the Chkdsk utility
    You could run the chkdsk utility on your iPod. But Restoring your iPod has the same effect as running chkdsk. Chkdsk does not wipe your iPod.
    1) Enable Disk Mode as above
    2) Determine the drive letter of your iPod from My Computer
    3) Go to Start, Run
    4) Type cmd. Hit Enter to take you to the Command Prompt.
    5) Type chkdsk /f X:, where X is the drive letter of your iPod. Hit Enter, and any corrupt files are found and corrected.
    Run Windows ScanDisk
    ScanDisk is the Windows version of Chkdsk. It does not wipe your iPod.
    1) Enable Disk Mode
    2) Right-click the iPod in My Computer, select Properties
    3) Select Tools
    4) Select the option to scan the disk for errors
    Try changing the Drive Letter of the iPod
    Sometimes Windows confuses the drive letters, and this can cause the iPod to be adversely affected. Try the instructions detailed in Apple KB Article 93499 to change the drive letter of the iPod. This does not wipe your iPod.
    Try changing Hardware Policies for the iPod
    The Hardware Policies in Windows have been known to affect the way in which the iPod connects, synchronises, and disconnects. This does not wipe your iPod.
    1) Enable Disk Mode so the iPod appears in My Computer
    2) Right-click the iPod in My Computer
    3) Select Properties
    4) Select Hardware Policies
    5) Select Optimize for Performance (instead of Optimize for Removal)
    6) Restart your computer.
    Contact Apple for a replacement iPod
    Some chkdsk issues have been caused by faulty hardware. As a last resort, contact Apple Support by phone to report your issue, and/or request an iPod Service.
    If you explain that you have followed all these steps, you should have a strong case for obtaining a replacement iPod.
    <hr>
    Thanks!
    Thank you to everyone for their continued support, kindness and excellent troubleshooting skills here on Discussions. There are countless people that I am deeply grateful to for their assistance in handling this issue. Rest assured folks, you have made me the Discussions Furball that I am today.
    Happy Podding folks!
    Kind regards,
    Gopha.

    iPod Updater 2006-03-23 has been released
    iPod Updater 2006-03-23 includes iPod Software 1.1.1 for the new iPod and new iPod Software 1.1.1 for iPod nano.
    iPod Updater 2006-03-23 contains the same software versions as iPod Updater 2006-01-10 for all other iPod models.
    What's new in iPod Updater 2006-03-23:
    - Volume limit
    - Bug fixes
    I have been trying to ascertain from Apple Support Level 2 as to whether the latest iPod firmware improves or provides better resolution for the chkdsk issue. If anyone has been using iPod Updater 2006-03-23 to resolve their chkdsk woes, feel free to post in here just to say how things worked out for you...

  • Display Problem with my Mac Pro and LG Flatron Wide Monitor in Mountain Lion

    After upgrading to Mountain Lion, my Mac Pro has display problems with my LG Flatron display.  The image is displayed with a black bar on the right and on the bottom.  And the left side of the content is not visible.  I tried every resolution available in the Display System Preferences, they are different in terms of how big the black bars are, and what part is not visible, but none of them are correct.  I held down the option key to try to detect displays or switch to resolutions that are not normally available.  When I restart the image is lined up with the display, but if the display ever goes to sleep or gets turned off, the image reverts to being off center, and the only way I can get it back is to restart...  The interesting thing is that this monitor works fine with the same machine if I reboot using BootCamp into Windows 7.  The Monitor also works fine, connecting the same connector to a Mac Mini, although that mac mini is running 10.6 and not Mountain Lion.  I've reset the SMC and restarted countless times, I don't see any other levers to pull or things to try...

    That card is for a PC it may not give you Startup and Option-Boot screens.
    The 7950 "Mac Edition" card has a very distinctive look:

  • Ideacentre B320 display problem

    I'm suffering from a display problem, and cannot figure if it's a software or hardware issue... I'm on Win7 64bit. Here are the symptoms:
    1) For a while now, intermittently the screen would go grey (or some sort of a messed up pattern of rgb pixels) and I would have to power down forcefully. The frequency of this has gone up very much in the recent weeks
    2) When the machine freezes, I can still hear the music playing, and Windows continues to do whatever it was doing before
    3) Recently (I'm guessing after a Windows update), I wasn't able to boot into normal mode anymore. It would show the Windows splash screen, then before the login screen appears it would just go black and freeze. Leaving it for a long time doesn't lead to recovery
    4) To try and fix this, I've updated the ATI driver to the latest version, which didn't work so progressively tried every version between the11.6 and 10.3 (4?) which was the default when the machine was purchased. No luck there. I've also flashed the bios and that didn't help either
    5) I can boot into safe mode, so I disabled amdkmdap using sysinternal's autoruns.exe, which meant that I can boot into normal mode, but it woud fall back onto Windows' vga driver (1400x1050 only!)
    6) Now, even in the low res mode, almost daily the grey screen freezing would happen and I would have to reboot. Tapping the power button allows the shutdown dialog to come up (I'm guessing), and pressing enter would shut down the machine then.
    There's an awful lot of posts on the internet regarding people having issues with ATI HD6450 and similar category cards, some of which sound similar to my case. They too experienced the freezing problem and reverting or upgrading the drivers had no effect (many even reinstalled windows completely). It sounds like though, the problem is software in origin at a guess.
    On the other hand, the machine is now 3-4 years old and I could imagine that the GPU or graphics memory might have suffered wear and tear -- emailing Lenovo support took a week to get a response, the only thing they asked was whether my warranty is still active (after that it's been a complete silence) are they usually this terrible?
    The last thing is, when the problem first occurred I booted using a linux live CD and it was all fine, at full resolution graphics. I haven't repeated this experiment since it takes quite a while to boot from a CD... but suggested that the hardware is intact. In fact, by messing about with the drivers I was able to boot into Windows normal mode and operate for 1-2 days, after which the grey freeze happened again. I haven't been able to get back into that since.
    Here is my question: Is there a way to find out whether it's software or hardware that's at fault? If it turns out to be hardware, what are my options at replacements? The GPU is soldered onto the motherboard, so do I have to replace the whole thing? If it's a software issue, would restoring to factory default state fix this issue, given that an unknown update could cause the same issue at any time... This is the last time I will buy an AIO without removable everything.

    Welcome to the Lenovo Community !
    Probably a good test of the hardware is use the Linux Live CD that you used earlier.   If the graphics are still good when using the Live CD then your monitor and GPU are fine.
    If the hardware checks out Ok then I suspect you have a driver problem.  Try using a driver cleaner to fully uninstall the ATI driver since bit and pieces left over from previous driver installs can cause problems.  The link below is for a free and highly recommended utility for cleaning the system of the graphic drivers.  After the clean up I would try installing the original driver that came with your system.
