DW8 "laggy"

Ever since installing the 8.0.2 update to DW8, I have
experienced erratic behavior from the cursor *only when editing in
design or split view* and regardless of the size of contents of the
page. It can be blank, not a single line of code, and still I see
this behavior. It looks like a memory leak would in other programs.
Cursor movements are slow and choppy, which makes positioning and
selection a problem. It affects the cursor over the entire user
interface when DW8 has focus. Again this only happens while a page
is open for editing and it only began with the 8.0.2 update. Any
advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Can't View Live Data in DW8

I am trying to view MS Access database records in a jsp page
using Dreamweaver 8.0.2 (as part of the Cafe Townsend tutorial)
In the Databases panel I can see the database objects. The
test to database connection successfuly returns database records.
However, when I click on LIVE DATA VIEW icon, a red exclamation
mark(!) appears next to the Recordset(rs_Comment) #prior version#
line of the Server Behaviors tab.
When I select this line and double-click a message box
saying: "This server behavior was created with a prior version of
UltraDev. It will be replaced with the current version when you
click OK in the server behavior dialog box." appears. I hit OK in
the box, and hit OK in the Recordset dialog box that also appears.
The exclamation marked line disappears from the Server Behavior
tabbed pane, but the problem remains unsolved.
I uninstalled and reinstalled DW8, but the problem persists.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Does the code get changed in any way, or does the code stay
    exactly the same
and is dreamweaver somehow not recognizing it anymore?

  • Previewing IE in DW8 issue

    Dear Forum Community,
I am using IE8 with Windows 7 and Dreamweaver 8.
When I press the Preview/Debug in Browser button, I have the options to preview in Internet Explorer or Firefox.
The Internet Explorer option is greyed out though, so does not work.  Firefox works fine.
However, if I set IE as the Primary Browser and then press F12 it does work!
Any suggestions why the Internet Explorer option is greyed out in the list and how to fix this welcome!
    Many thanks,
    Mike

Could just be a feature of DW 8 that is incompatible with Windows 7 since IE8 was not available for testing at the time of DW8's release.  If it only works as default, I would leave it as default since Firefox seems to have no issue in either position.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Why is the 2010 i7 MacBook Pro so laggy on Lion?

Now, here's my issue: my 2009 iMac works with lion perfectly with all applications. My MacBook Air, which I'll admit, I don't use much, appears to work fine under Lion; however, my 2010 i7 MacBook Pro is just pathetic at times. Now, it's most apparent in Safari, maybe that's just because I use Safari most often, where scrolling and zooming is very laggy. Sometimes I'll expand my fingers and have to wait a good 2 seconds or more to see the zoom animation cut through where it's supposed to be, relative to how far apart my fingers are. This does not happen on my 2009 iMac with the Magic mouse hooked up, but it is quad-core i7 vs the MacBook Pro's dual-core i7. It just doesn't make sense though. I know the Sandybridge i5's in the lowend MacBook Pros are more powerful than my i7 MacBook Pro, but they can't be so much more powerful that they lack all of these animation defects, while I feel them full force, right? Maybe it's the GPU? I honestly haven't tried keeping my Pro set to it's GT 330m because I thought it to be more of a CPU issue because the animation sems so simple even for the Intel Graphics 2000. I also see a huge issue when entering text in a text field, though this also happens in pages. I'll type words and they wont appear until seconds after. I'm rather perplexed at this issue, is the problem Lion? Should I report this under Apple Care, or what? Thanx for the help, guys!

Back up your Mac if you have not done so already. To learn how to use Time Machine read Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac - Apple Support.
Kaspersky cannot possibly convey any benefit and its presence will only complicate troubleshooting. Uninstall it according to its instructions. This document may help, though it appears woefully outdated: http://support.kaspersky.com/8366. Unfortunately I can't help any more than that. I attempted to install Kaspersky to evaluate it, but the installer repeatedly failed for reasons I was unable to determine.
Determine if the problems also exist in Safe Mode:
Safe Mode or "Safe Boot" is a troubleshooting mode that bypasses all third party system extensions and loads only required system components. Read about it: Starting up in Safe Mode
You must disable FileVault before you can start your Mac in Safe Mode.
Starting your Mac in Safe Mode will take longer than usual, graphics will not render smoothly, audio is disabled on some Macs, and some programs (iTunes for example) may not work at all.
Merely starting your Mac in Safe Mode is not intended to resolve the problem, it's to observe its performance without certain additional components.
To end Safe Mode restart your Mac normally. Shutdown will take longer as well.
System performance problems for reasons that cannot be isolated to any other cause justify an SMC reset. Be sure to read the procedure carefully and follow all the steps exactly as written, even if they seem inapplicable or trivial.
Corsair RAM is known to be deficient on Macs, and Google products are notorious for causing Macs to perform poorly.

  • Questions on Golive - DW8 Migration

    I'm a long-time GoLive user - I started testing both apps at
    v. 1.0, and Dreamwever didn't get good until version 3, but by that
time I was heavily invested in GoLive.
I now am ready to switch, but i've got a laundry list of
questions of the "I know how to do it in GoLive, how do I do it in
DW?" variety? I've committed to switching, so I'm not looking to
debate which is better - I just want to know how to keep my
productivity up during (and after) the transition
If anyone cares to educate me, i'd love some assistance:
1)I've got 400+ pages and files in one of the 50+ sites that
I work on regularly. So i'm not intimately familiar with the layout
of this particular site. I know I need to edit the contact us page,
but I don't remember if its called contactus.html, or
    /about/contact.html or /buried/deep/in/bowels/of/site/contact.html.
In Golive, I type 'contact' into the search box in the site
management window and all files with the word 'contact' pop up for
me to inspect and see which one I want to edit.
How can I quickly find a page/image/file in Dreamweaver if I
know (a portion of) the name?
2)I've got a PDF file in my site that I need to make sure is
linked in, and see which pages are linked to it. In Golive, there's
a 'link in/out' window that shows me all links to and from a
page/image/file. Is there some such beast in Dreamweaver? Looking
in the archives, all I see is the 'delete the file and then see
which pages it says you'll be modifying' method, which seems scary
to me, since my fingers sometimes move of their own accord and I
don't want to REALLY delete the file
3)This whole 'put dependent files' thing has me frustrated.
Lets assume i'm working on a site that I just built from scratch
today, and it has lots of little images. I've uploaded the entire
site to the server, but now I need to create a new image and add it
to one page. In Golive, i'd click the 'upload modified files'
button, and those two files would be uploaded.
In DW8, best I can understand it, I click the 'upload' button
for the page, and I'm given the choice to 'upload dependent files'.
This uploads all 30 images associated with this page, even tho they
weren't changed. Is there some better way to do this?
Likewise, if I just edited an image deep in the heirarchy of
the site, but didn't edit the page, and I only need to upload that
image, is there any button for checking modified files so I don't
have to bother uploading the entire page & images again? This
wouldn't be an issue if DW8 didn't make me wait until the upload
was done before letting me work on something else. I thought this
was something that DW had better than Golive for a while and now
    they've lost that feature?
4)Keyboard shortcuts for site window. This may be a Mac OS X
thing, but I would think that a program more geared towards
'coders' rather than 'designers' would be more keyboard-friendly. I
want to be able to navigate the 'files' window of my site by
keyboard - arrows up /down to find a folder, Command-arrow
down/right to open a folder and continue navigating, etc... At
least on my system, this doesn't work - no way to open a folder
other than double-click on it. Am I missing something?
5)SFTP with Authentication - I'm able to successfully connect
to my SFTP server using Transmit/Interarchy, etc, but not
Dreamweaver. I found an old post that says that DW MX doesn't
support non-password authentication - is this true for DW 8 as
    well?
Thanks much for all the help - I just found this forum and
will probably be lurking here for a few months as I get the hang of
things now that i've joined 'the other side' :)
    Thank you!

    Bump - I did figure out # 3.5 above - I found the 'select
modified files' and it will tell me everything I modified that day.
Of course, that doesn't help when I work on 14 files in the morning
and 2 in the afternoon - its still going to select and therefore
upload all 16, but at least that's better than all 300+ files.
I'm most interested to see what people say about #1 and #2 -
how do I find a file in my large site, and how do I find out what
pages are linked to a specific page or image, other then by
    'almost-deleting' it?

  • My Mac is getting laggy, what can I do?

A lot of times I put it on sleep mode and when I open it up, it wont let me type the password and I then need to close it and open it again until it lets me type it.
The color wheel also appears sometimes. It will sometimes display websites in the wrong way. Please help. Here is the EtreChech I got. Let me know if theres something I can do

  • Macbook goes laggy and I need to reboot

    Hey all,
I've been a Macbook owner since 2006. My desktop is a Windows machine I use for gaming and movies, but when it comes to my work I always use my mac due to the better security and overall stability of the operating system. From time to time I'll play a game or watch a movie on it too, but it's mainly geared towards my job.
I do have one problem, and I suspect has something to do with Firefox and other apps that are prone to memory leaks.
I tend to keep my macbook on at all times and never shut it off even at night time when I goto sleep. This is because I like to have my email ready and in front of me when I am ready to begin work that day. I pretty much follow the same policy with my Windows desktop. I simply shut off the screen on it.
Anyways if I open up a lot of stuff. Like Firefox with 15 tabs, Parallels running XP on a 512 meg virtual machine with stuff running inside it, and Windows remote desktop running my macbook starts to show signs of performance degradation even after I am done working with all the apps and it doesn't go away until I reboot it.
When I have all that stuff open, the first sign isn't laggy perfomance with the apps. The apps will initially be fine, but after a few hours when I minimize a window or restore a window and Tiger has those fancy minimize and restore animations that the Intel GPU, the minimization animation starts to get all choppy instead of running smooth as silk as before. If I let this go for a few days, the my apps start to run a bit laggy too.
Even if I close all the apps, I still have the choppy minimize and restore animations. It doesn't go away until I reboot, and the entire machine just doesn't feel as snappy.
Also if I leave Firefox on with a ton of tabs but don't open up a bunch of crap, my mac will run great for days without a reboot, but after around a week and a half it'll start having choppy minimize and restore animations too and eventually degrades and becomes less snappy. Maybe Firefox has a memory leak?

Hi Peter, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Very Important, how much Free Space is on your Hard Drive first of all?
What size Cache do you have set in Firfox>Preferences>Advanced>Network? Try smaller there & might try clearing it there if it slows down.
I think you should get Applejack...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 5 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.

  • Takes a very long time to load pages and is laggy

The new''' FF (4) '''was good at first, but recently it is starting to lack the goodness it once had.
'''It is becoming slower and slower by the day and takes a very long time to load pages. Sometimes the "loading" icon circles for 5 minutes, and whether the page loads or not depends on my luck at that time.'''
Also, it has become seriously '''laggy''':
'''Scrolling''' up and down, typing and '''filling out forms''' (like writing this message) etc have slowed down.
I have deleted the history, and cleared the cache, but to no avail.
Could it be some of the add-ons?
Or is it that FF4 was all hyped up and '''''can't stand to it's name'''''? :)
    Please help.

  • Macbook Pro mid-2012 Slow, and laggy

My Macbook has been running slow, and laggy aswell. I don't know whats wrong with it. I took my Macbook to the store where I bought it to see if they could fix it. After 4 days in the warehouse I came to take it back, and they said that we didn't find anything wrong with the hardware, but something with the software. They said that I had to reinstall it, but they couldn't cuz it was not included in the insurance. When I came back home, I did a backup, erased everything, and did a fresh install of Mavericks(took 1 day cuz it was slow and laggy). When My macbook reinstalled the problem was still there. It was much better before the reinstallation, but still a little slow. I also ran disc utility but it affect the problem. I also have another probelm is when I put my macook in sleep, I close the lid and then it gets hot, like if I'm playing a game or something which I don't. The light is turned off when I'm using my mac, it gets a little dim when I put my Mac to sleep with the lid open. When I close the lid the light gets bright and it shows the pulse like pattern at random points. I had to turn my mac off cuz I take it to school, and when I take it out from my bag its hot like a fry pan. The overheat also affects my battery life time in a high degree. I had 80% when I closed the lid and put it in my bag, and it got 22% when I took it out. I also did some search up with no luck so I hope you guys can help me, please, any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance

I was referring to this link that I posted earlier:
    http://www.thesafemac.com/mpg/
What about the problem when I close the lid it starts getting hot, like the processor is working at its limits???
Run an Apple Hardware Test,  that may develop a clue:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1509
Also what about the caches, because it was written that it can slow down mac's performance if they are corrupted, and I don't know if the are corrputed.
One eliminates that as a possibility by cleaning them. A Safe boot will do that.  Also look in the 'Safe Mac' link, the last entry titled "Clear Caches".
    Ciao.

  • Complicated problem: Laggy Macbook Pro, now not booting

I am facing a very complicated issue with my unibody Early 2011 15" Macbook Pro (2.2 ghz core i7, 4gb 1333mhz ram, amd radeon 6750m, if you need hardware details).
I guess the issue started after my computer started to get laggy for no reason at all: it was never the GUI that lagged, but whenever I would perform some data-dependent tasks such as playing a video, or trying to open a big file. This lagging did coincide with some of my friends playing around with magnets around my computer (which may have possibly corrupted hard disk data).
After it got laggy, another major problem hit my MacBook, where I plugged in an old, broken USB into one of the ports by accident, and the computer suddenly shut it self off. The computer then seemed to have no power at all, with no response to pressing power button, or the battery indicator button. I feared the worst: that my logic board had been fried, so I immediately took my computer to the Apple Reseller. The technicians there said it was no problem at all, just that my motherboard had shut itself of in order to protect itself from a USB power shortage, and he unplugged and replugged this one small component on the logic board, which I am guessing is the Power Management Unit, and my computer miraculeously started booting.
So then, I get back home, and the laggy problem is still there. I just had to cope with the problem for a few days, until I go back to the Apple Reseller, but then suddenly, after a restart, the computer started not even booting. The grey apple icon would blink, and turn into a circle with a cross icon. Checked online, and this is apparently related to corrupted system files. This is where I began to suspect that the USB shut-off from few days ago, did more damage than the technicians thought: maybe related to the hard disk, or RAM.
But then again, it could have just been a coincidental corrupt hard disk from my actions, so I wiped/repartitioned my hard disk, and restored the OS and my files from a TIme Machine Backup. Again, the problem was still there, so I thought it might be to do with my backed up system files, so I did a fresh install of Lion.
The fresh install of Lion seemed to eliminate all lagging problems, but after I started copying my files and installing applications from Time Machine, the lagging problem gradually returned. So another question arose, was it a faulty hard disk, or a corrupt file or application that was making it laggy? To check if it was my hard disk, I did a zero-over erase of the entire disk with Disk Utility, and sure enough, the writing process failed in the middle.
After thinking I zeroed in on the problem, I replaced the hard disk in my Macbook Pro with another 750gb Toshiba SATA drive, and did a clean install of Lion. Once again, the laggy problem was gone, but just like the old hard disk, the laggy problem returned after I started copying files over and installing applications. Switching applications would take forever, and accessing folders on my hard disk would also be laggy. Playing videos was impossible, but the GUI (dock, spaces, etc) were all very responsive.
Now, I thought the problem is either with faulty RAM, or my hard disk reader is broken (since two hard disks, although the original one was faulty, both failed). I read online that the Apple Hardware Test (AHT) can help identify and pinpoint hardware problems, so I inserted the 2nd disk that came with my computer (Applications Install), and pressed D, but then nothing came up. After countless attempts, I maybe thought it was the wrong disk, so I inserted the 1st disk (OS Installer), and held D while booting, but still, AHT would not load.
After countless attempts at loading AHT, all of which led to me forcing shut down/holding power button after seeing the Apple logo, brings the problem to where I am at now: my Macbook does not boot into the login screen. After the Apple logo, and the spinner wheel have appeared, the screen turns white and the display becomes an infinite loop of switching from a gray color, to a white color.
This problem is frustrating me very much, because there are so many possible causes, and the problem persists even after reinstalling the OS, and even replacing the ard drive. The logic board shutoff could be the cause, but then again, the lagging problem started way before it happened. Somebody please tell me what is the problem, and what I should do? Thanks in advance.

Didn't know my magnets were strong enough to corrupt hard disks.
Yes, it's a method used to destroy data on a hard drive as it's recorded using magnetic fields, either "on" or "off" to represent the 1's and 0's that make up the basic building blocks of your data.
But, the magnet does not explain why the hard disk reported an error when being erased with zero-over option.
When the driver software has a problem reading the data on the drive, it assumes it's a bad sector, then maps it off and uses a spare. You likely ran out of spares.
I just tried zero-over erasing the second, good hard disk that replaced the original, but again, it fails. Is this a common problem with the zero erase option?
    No.
or is it something to do with my hard disks, or some sort of damaged hardware in my computer?
Well this is drive #2 and it's new, and you get the same problem.
It's either something your doing, (like moving the hard drive/ computer while it's operating thus the heads are striking the platters) or it's a hardware defect, or perhaps the magnets did other damage we can't see, perhaps it's magnatized the computer and that's affecting the hard drive or electronics.
May be a loose or defective cable.
It's time for a hardware evaluation at this point.

  • Why is my macbook so laggy all of a sudden?

It started close to a week ago.  It will work normally for like an hour or so, then it randomly starts lagging.  Every time I try to click something, the beach ball of death appears for 30 or so seconds, everything that I have open just STOPS working and stops responding.  This will happen for maybe 15-30 minutes, then it will return to normal, then it'll go back to being laggy.
    - I haven't used more than 1/4 of the hardrive space, so its not short on space.
    - I've used disk utlity, and the SMART status said Verified, so my hardrive seems to be OK.
    - I've used repair disk permissions from Disk Utlity, an everything came out fine.
    - I've cleaned out all my caches with CCleaner, it took out 9gb of ****.  This helped for like 15 minutes, then it went back to being really ******* laggy.
This has been ******* me off to the point in which I don't use my laptop because I can barely do anything for more than 30 minutes without it lagging. .
I/m thinking of just reinstalling Mountain Lion.  My qquestion with that is, if I partition my external hardrive between my backup data files and the new OSX, will I lose my files from the other partition when I reinstall mountain lion?  Will it wipe the whole external hardrive?
What do you think is wrong with my mac?  What other ways could I try and fix the problem?
My macbook is a late 2011 15 inch pro.  I bought it in September 2012 at my school, fresh in the box, no reburishing.
I didn't put any programs on in the past week that would have caused this.
    Its ******* me off.
**** IT TOOK ME MORE THAN ENOUGH TIME TO TYPE THIS BECAUSE OF THE ******* LAG

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the slowdown.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
    Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • Laggy performance with Nvidia driver

    Greetings,
I am trying to use my nvidia 9800 GTX card with the Nvidia driver in the official repos.  I have a dual monitor setup with gnome 3.10 installed.  Everything is snappy with the default configurations with the Noveau driver.
A typical extended desktop environment would be preferable.  From what I understand from the multihead and multiple monitor sections of the wiki is that twinview or xinerama would accomplish this, but it is mentioned that xinerama does not work for this newer version of the nvidia driver.  I used nvidia-settings to set up the monitors in the right location and saved the config file to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-monitor.conf as suggested in the wiki. I tried making some configuration changes to the tune of the examples in the wiki, but every change I make seems to result in an even buggier or unbootable x server.  I scrapped the nvidia driver and installed noveau to test it out, now  I'm back to the initial configuration on the nvidia driver.
The display configuration is actually what I want now, but the system feels overly heavy and laggy.   Any suggestions?

Is it safe to conclude that I did not properly install the nvidia driver since the output in the xorg file shows that nouveau module is being loaded?  I am not sure where I went wrong since the wiki says to simply
    pacman -S nvidia nvidia-utils
and the nouveau driver will be automatically blacklisted and the nvidia driver installed.
I found this https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NV … au_drivers which provides a script for switching between nvidia and nouveau drivers. It states the scripts may be
out of date and the sed lines not necessary.  From what I see there was no "nouveau" module being loaded in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf.
As of now I removed the nvidia and nvidia-utils packages and reinstalled the nouveau driver as described in the wiki.  It is quick and stable now, but does not look nearly as nice as it would be with the proprietary drivers.  My system was incredibly buggy and unstable with the nvidia drivers installed, which I just don't understand.  My keyboard would not work at the login screen, and would complain about mounting some partitions I have in fstab.
Here is the current information from my system:

    # MODULES
    # The following modules are loaded before any boot hooks are
    # run. Advanced users may wish to specify all system modules
    # in this array. For instance:
    # MODULES="piix ide_disk reiserfs"
    MODULES=""
    # BINARIES
    # This setting includes any additional binaries a given user may
    # wish into the CPIO image. This is run last, so it may be used to
    # override the actual binaries included by a given hook
    # BINARIES are dependency parsed, so you may safely ignore libraries
    BINARIES=""
    # FILES
    # This setting is similar to BINARIES above, however, files are added
    # as-is and are not parsed in any way. This is useful for config files.
    FILES=""
    # HOOKS
    # This is the most important setting in this file. The HOOKS control the
    # modules and scripts added to the image, and what happens at boot time.
    # Order is important, and it is recommended that you do not change the
    # order in which HOOKS are added. Run 'mkinitcpio -H <hook name>' for
    # help on a given hook.
    # 'base' is _required_ unless you know precisely what you are doing.
    # 'udev' is _required_ in order to automatically load modules
    # 'filesystems' is _required_ unless you specify your fs modules in MODULES
    # Examples:
    ## This setup specifies all modules in the MODULES setting above.
