DW8 Site manager very slow

All of a sudden my DW8 Site Manager takes ages to let me edit
a site. It does
eventually open the site, but has me wait for several
minutes. The problems
affects all sites.
I have renamed my configuration folder and a new one was duly
created but the
problem persists.
Any ideas what could cause this and how to remedy it?
Regards,
Adriana.

How many sites do you have? Are the sites all located on the
computer that
is running DW? Are you running antivirus scans in real time?
How large are
the sites?

  • Site manager very slow

I'm using DW8 ver. 8.0.2 and lately when I go to the site
manager to create new or edit a site it's very slow, like DW is not
responding, then it finally goes to the next window. Is there some
bugs in DW8 that need fixing?
Also: I added this topic yesterday and this morning it wasn't
    listed in My Forums. Why?

How many sites do you have? Are the sites all located on the

  • Site is very slow-Dead lock in database?

    Hi Friends,
    DB version:10.2.0.1
    OS:RHEL
I have a table whose structure is as below
    SQL>desc prod
    Name Null? Type
    ID NOT NULL VARCHAR2(40)
    TITLE VARCHAR2(500)
    VALUE VARCHAR2(2000)
Column ID has two contarints primary key constraint and check constraint.
    Actual problem:
    ================
One of our site is very slow and as a i DBA i have checked the alert log file of the database and found the error
    Wed Jul 7 01:26:50 2010
ORA-00060: Deadlock detected. More info in file /u01/app/oracle/admin/PUBDB01/udump/pubdb01_ora_25844.trc.
I checked the trace file and found the information as below.
    DEADLOCK DETECTED
    [Transaction Deadlock]
Current SQL statement for this session:
DELETE FROM prod WHERE id = :1
The following deadlock is not an ORACLE error. It is a
deadlock due to user error in the design of an application
or from issuing incorrect ad-hoc SQL. The following
information may aid in determining the deadlock:
Now i want to know the reason behind the slowness of the site is because of the deadlock which i have found in the database or some thing else. If the reason is because of the deadlock then what i have to do that SQL statement inorder to perform it optimally.
Please need your help and suggestions.

Get statspack/AWR running at regular intervals.
Deadlocks are resolved instantaneously by Oracle itself - I don't think that could cause the entire site to slow down.

  • DW8 Site Manager Window

    1. The dropdown menu for sitenames in the SHOW SITE list
selector no longer responds to typing in the first letter of the
site and the list zips to that alphabetical point in the list.
Previous versions did this, as is window standard for dropdown
    menus.
    2. WHen minimizing the DW main window, using the
click-on-taskbar DW icon, the Site manager window is left showing.
If the Minimize _ top left window standard button (near the X close
button) is used, it minimizes both windows.
    3. Often it seems impossible to get the Local Side of the
Site manager window to Refresh to be the current files listed in
the directory, if, for instance, image files were added outside of
DW. REFRESH, F5, etc. do nothing. Relaunching DW then shows the
    correct up-to-date directory listing.
    4. After how many revisions of DW since DW2(when there was
discussion and "promises" to fulfill these features), there still
seems not to be a feature to provide information (e.g., right click
context menu a filename in the local directory to have this option)
for what files use/point to a particular file or asset. Since DW
already keeps a cross-reference cache of the dependencies, it seems
this is an easy informational list to display. It's very useful in
a number of situations, especially as a precursor to moving a file,
to see if anyone (or who) is dependent on this file. Too, DW is not
always thorough in updating all links and references to assets and
linked files (for instance, (a) there's a difference in behavoir if
you drag a file to another folder vs. cut/paste a file to another
folder; (b) html option dropdown lists sometimes are not updated,
    (c) standard (e.g., imageready-generated) rollover menu image
references are never updated, especially in templates (what a pain
    that is to manage).
    5. Similarly there is no feature in a right-click context
menu (or otherwise) to fabricate/generate an absolute URL (from the
published web site perspective) for a given html file or image
asset. This has to be done manually(typing it in or navigating in a
browser and then copying the URL), but it could so easily be
generated and put in the paste buffer or other usable place.

    wait, are

    apps seem
to leave bits and pieces behind when minimizing on a Mac. Or

    for that matter.

<shrug> Personally I don't see the need for it, but you
    can always
tell Adobe (telling us here in the user-to-user forum doesn't
    really
do you a whole lot of good, you know?).
When I want to find out what links to a file, I do a global
    search for
the filename. But since I'm rather anal about site
    architecture, file
naming conventions, and keeping good records, I've only ever
    had to do
this when I'm working in a site someone else developed.

    >(a) there's a difference in behavoir if you drag a file

    >cut/paste a file to another folder;
Never tried this, to be honest. Since dragging works, why cut
    and
    paste?
In my opinion DW is acting responsibly. If you have cut a
    file from
the list of files, it warns you about existing links to that
    file. If
you proceed with the deletion, it's deleted. Including from
    the file
list. If you then paste the file somewhere else, how is DW
    supposed
to know that you didn't really mean to delete it, you meant
    to move
    it?

That's because those are NOT "standard" menus. The links are
    buried
in JavaScript. If they were standard menus with standard
    links, DW
    could manage them just fine.
Do a search in this forum for posts about the Fireworks
    menus; the
    ImageReady ones are no different.

Guess since I have never seen the need to use absolute URLs
    within a
site, I haven't run into this.
How is DW to know what the absolute URL path is supposed to
    be? And
if you want site root relative links, why not just use site
    root
    relative links?

  • Site Performing Very Slow on Azure

    Hi Guys
I have a site which is performing very slow when deployed on Azure. However, the same site's performance is very good when deployed on our own server. Can you please advise/guide on the possible reasons for this and the way to debug/fix the same.
Let me know if any more details are required from my end.
    Thanks

  • ITunes U Site Running Very Slow

Our iTunes U site (University of Central Florida) is running very slow today. Who should we contact about looking into this?
    Thanks,
    Jason

We have been experiencing issues with uploads today. It will sometimes require multiple attempts. The error message that we receive most often is:
"Unknown Error (-4)," which purports itself as an error in the iTunes Store.

  • DW 8 Site Manager loads slow

I recently got a new Dell Optiplex 745 and loaded DW 8 and it
worked great. Yesterday I went into Site Manager to edit one of my
sites and it took a full 20 seconds to load. It works fine once
loaded. When I first installed the program and imported my sites,
Site Manager loaded quickly. Programs and updates have been added
since I installed DW 8. Anybody have a clue why the slow load or
    more importantly a fix??
    Thanks,
    Jim

Thanks for the response, David. Recreating site cache makes
    no difference
Let me be a little more precise with what's happening as I
realize that my original post was probably misleading. The Manage
Sites window opens fine. The delay is when I click the new... or
edit... buttons. After clicking either of those buttons, it takes
almost exactly 20 seconds for the Site Definition window to open.
When using the edit... button it makes no difference which of my
sites I'm trying to edit. All current sites and a new site all go
thru the same delay. The other buttons - Duplicate, Remove,
Export..., & Import... - all work normally & immediately.
    Thanks,
    Jim

  • DW8 Site manager

I have been using DW for years, updated to DW8 last year, no
problems. I updated to a better server, now I cant log in.
I use Filezilla, same FTP: log in, and password, I cant get
    DW8 to connect.
Here is the error that I receive.
[ cannot open remote folder xxxxxxxxxxxx.com/ Access
denied. The file may not exist or permission problem]
    Help.
    Thanks,

    Jon,
In the DW8 Site Settings for the remote site, you should
    have:
    Access: FTP
    FTP Host: <servername.domain> (no ftp://)
Host Directory: <Name of your web root directory/site
    name> Example
    /public_html/mysitename
    Login: <UserID>
    Password: <Password>
Usually the problem is that DW is trying to connect to the
    wrong directory.
It doesn't necessarily use the same directory as an external
    FTP client.

  • Loading my home page is fine. But, when transferring to another site is very slow. Also, even in my home page, the little circle in upper left corner revolves?

Firefox 21 for Ubuntu canonical 1.0
    Linux, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
    my.Earthlink.net

    Thanks for your reply!
I disabled IPv6. Still very slow.
To get in Safe Mode, I clicked Firefox/Help/Restart with add-ons disabled. I suspect this was the wrong thing to do because “All add-ons have been disabled by safe mode.
Actually, I did not see any opportunity to click a RESET button on the Safe Mode start window.
When I first entered the above question, I think I had an opportunity to run some diagnostics. However, because my computer is so slow, I actually posted the question from another linux computer, so saw no need to run the diagnostics on that machine. How can I get back to those diagnostics
    Thanks for your help

  • 4.6 media manager VERY slow

    Hello everyone!
I recently installed blackberry desktop manager with media manager 4.6 on my hp laptop and just even opening the media manager program let alone doing anything takes 5-8+ minutes for it to do anything. And even just starting the media manager i want to go make a sandwich and come back.  I really have no idea what is going on with this. Everything else works just fine including the desktop manager and quick but for some reason the media manager just fails at life.  I have tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling it a few times and fully cleaning out the program from the comuter and that has not helped the problem at all.  The computer definatly fast enough that it should eat this program in no time.  The computer is a new dv7 that is brand new and just did a system recovery to brand new state with a p7350 intel core 2 duo 2.0 ghz, 4 gb ram, 500gb hdd so I know that is not the speed of the PC causing it.  One thing I did take notice is that when the blackberry is disconneted the program is almost usable the only thing that I might be able to think is that the program just hates vista 64 bit. Has anyone else experianced this problem and maybe know a way to fix it.  and one other thing that I took notice that is a little strange when I click on media in desktop manager instead of being present with sync or media manager it goes and just opens the media manager.  Any ideas anyone?  Thank you in advance.

I avoid use of Roxio Media Manager.
It is not a well-written software. It is a buggy and non-reliable tool to work with media files.
I prefer to turn on "Mass storage mode support" in Options-Media card and transfer media files directly to my blackberry from desktop computer as an usb-drive.
Below there is link with technical explanation - how to use your blackberry as a usb device:

  • I upgraded to Firefox 4 and now all sites are very slow. I cant even watch youtube videos anymore. Is their a way I can downgrade back to what I had?

I was given an option to upgrade to Firefox 4, so I did. Ever since I have done this, Facebook is taking a very long time to load. All FB apps either take a few minutes to load or just dont load. I have tried to watch Youtube and the videos are taking longer to view. I have tried to watch videos and they keep skipping. I have tried to reload the page, restart my computer and even upgrade flash but I already have the updated version. I need to know if their is any way to downgrade back the the Fairfox version that I had.

Upgraded to Firefox4 too. Suddenly I started to notice that browsing pages in my webbrowser qaws horrible laggy and I was seriously wondering if my connection was acting up, yet everything non-browser related was working just fine.
I can't even watch music videos on youtube now, as it will only load up to a 3rd of the song and then just stop loading anything more untill I click on the bar on a spot it hasn't loaded, and then it will start from there untill it gets to a 'block' again.
In other words: totally unusable for me.
I tried uninstalling firefox4 and going back to the 3.6.17 version, but now the issues haunt me in that versino too. It's like firefox4 sunk its teeth into my system once, and then older versions won't work proper either :(
Seriously considering just getting a different browser to be able to actually BROWSE the web again >:(

Yours is the first complaint about Firefox on 10.8 I've seen, so I'm inclined to think it's a issue with your machine, or a bad download/update or something.

  • Site VERY slow

I've got a flash site that from time to time seams to be
extremely slow. It has an intro page then a loading page before the
main site. The main site also loads swf files when you click on
thumbnails. The problem is that the site is very slow and is even
worse after I've updated it. I'm sure there's something I can do
the speed it up, but I don't know what. The hosting company say
there's no problem with their systems.
If it helps you can see the site
    here
    Thanks

I've checked the site and it's fast!
Flash websites use processor power on the computer when you
view them. It might be slow because you were checking the website
    on a slow computer....
On mine it works great :-)

  • Dcmctl very slow on Win2000

My Enterprise Manager Web Site is very slow. I suspect it's because dcmctl takes a long time to start (even from command line). Any way to speed this up?
    Thanks,
    Tom

EM does not use dcmctl to execute dcm commands. EM directly accesses the dcm.jar. There may be some initial lag when EM first starts up and classes are loaded but all subsequent dcm functions no longer see this lag.
If you want to speed up you dcmctl commands.
    first do dcmctl shell
all subsequent dcmctl command will not need to go through the initialization of dcm.jar and dcmctl commands will execute much faster. This is similar to what happens when EM uses dcm.jar.
to quit the dcmctl shell type dcmctl exit

  • FireFox VERY slow with Norton Toolbar 4.6 on GMAIL and B of A, etc.

Using XP Pro SP3 and FireFox 3.6.7, but has been slow for a while now. If I disable Norton ToolBar 4.6 (from NIS 2010) it is OK but IE 8 is fine. What happens is that GMAIL logs in and just hangs for a while. Even B of A or the Norton site. Even my ISP's site is VERY slow. A lot of forums are slow as well. Seems like sites that need a log-in have this issue.
== URL of affected sites ==
    http://gmail.google.com

I had done this and disabled ALL of the addons/plugins, and it was fine. As soon as I enabled the Norton toolbar, the problem was back. I then enabled everything except the Norton Toolbar and it was still good. I believe this is a Firefox issue as IE 8 works well with the Norton Toolbar enabled. I also see this when I go to my Netflix queue. Firefox is very slow while IE 8 shows the list quickly.
