DW8 site store

hello!
Some of my colleagues are facing a re-installation of their
PCs, and we would like not to lose our site information.
We wonder: Where do we find the file that stores the sites
DW8 works with? i cant find anything about it in the documentation.

DW8 Site manager very slow

All of a sudden my DW8 Site Manager takes ages to let me edit
a site. It does
eventually open the site, but has me wait for several
minutes. The problems
affects all sites.
I have renamed my configuration folder and a new one was duly
created but the
problem persists.
Any ideas what could cause this and how to remedy it?

How many sites do you have? Are the sites all located on the
computer that
is running DW? Are you running antivirus scans in real time?
How large are
the sites?

Transferring DW8 site details?

I've got to upgrade to a new, larger hard drive.. has anyone
figured out
how to transfer DW8 site details instead of having to
manually re-create
each one? There was an application to do that, but it doesn't
work with DW8.

That's correct. You can select all the sites, and then click
EXPORT. You
still have to save them one at a time, but it's much
better....

DW8 Site manager

I have been using DW for years, updated to DW8 last year, no
problems. I updated to a better server, now I cant log in.
I use Filezilla, same FTP: log in, and password, I cant get
DW8 to connect.
Here is the error that I receive.
[ cannot open remote folder xxxxxxxxxxxx.com/ Access
denied.The file may not exist or permission problem]

In the DW8 Site Settings for the remote site, you should
have:
Access: FTP
FTP Host: <servername.domain> (no ftp://)
Host Directory: <Name of your web root directory/site
name> Example
/public_html/mysitename
Login: <UserID>
Password: <Password>
Usually the problem is that DW is trying to connect to the
wrong directory.
It doesn't necessarily use the same directory as an external
FTP client.

Exporting DW8 site

Hello!
I just upgraded from DW8 to CS5.5 because DW8 would no longer work under Lion (and it was time!). However, I can't open my old sites using CS5. I did a search on the forums, and it was recommended to Export the site from DW8 then import to CS5. Unfortunately DW8 won't run on my Macs anymore because I upgraded them to Lion. Is there any other way to import the site into CS5?

I don't quite understand this. HTML is HTML. There is nothing to export/import other than a Site Definition (.ste) file which contains your remote site's log-in details.
Did you define a local site folder in DW yet? Site > Manage Sites > New Site.

Retail customer - Site (Store) level authorization

Dear All,
We are implementing IS Retail for retail store chain customer.
As I understand, in retail, Plant is replaced by Site and each store is considered a site, which obviously will be an org level.
Now our customer want that, for example, a store manager for one store should not have access to other store details. So given that we will go live with 1500 stores, will I have to create 1500 roles for 1500 store managers ???
As expected this is a nightmare situation, where I am supposed to create a role for each user at each store and distribution centre.
Is there a workaround??

Suggested Adobe Digital Edition friendly sites/stores

I purchased a Sony PRS-600 Digital Book reader for my daughter for Christmas. I could not get the Sony Reader software to load onto my machine and was just about to return to the store. I noticed in my research that Adobe Digital Book reader was compatible – it works and synchronizes with the Sony PRS-600 reader.

If you're looking at individual tracks, it's always been the case that you click the button with the price.
If that doesn't help, please post back and let us know what specific item(s) you're looking at so we can check it and see if there's perhaps a problem with a particular item.

1. The dropdown menu for sitenames in the SHOW SITE list
selector no longer responds to typing in the first letter of the
site and the list zips to that alphabetical point in the list.
Previous versions did this, as is window standard for dropdown
menus.
2. WHen minimizing the DW main window, using the
click-on-taskbar DW icon, the Site manager window is left showing.
If the Minimize _ top left window standard button (near the X close
button) is used, it minimizes both windows.
3. Often it seems impossible to get the Local Side of the
Site manager window to Refresh to be the current files listed in
the directory, if, for instance, image files were added outside of
DW. REFRESH, F5, etc. do nothing. Relaunching DW then shows the
correct up-to-date directory listing.
4. After how many revisions of DW since DW2(when there was
discussion and "promises" to fulfill these features), there still
seems not to be a feature to provide information (e.g., right click
context menu a filename in the local directory to have this option)
for what files use/point to a particular file or asset. Since DW
already keeps a cross-reference cache of the dependencies, it seems
this is an easy informational list to display. It's very useful in
a number of situations, especially as a precursor to moving a file,
to see if anyone (or who) is dependent on this file. Too, DW is not
always thorough in updating all links and references to assets and
linked files (for instance, (a) there's a difference in behavoir if
you drag a file to another folder vs. cut/paste a file to another
folder; (b) html option dropdown lists sometimes are not updated,
(c) standard (e.g., imageready-generated) rollover menu image
references are never updated, especially in templates (what a pain
that is to manage).

menu (or otherwise) to fabricate/generate an absolute URL (from the
published web site perspective) for a given html file or image

<shrug> Personally I don't see the need for it, but you
can always
tell Adobe (telling us here in the user-to-user forum doesn't

When I want to find out what links to a file, I do a global
search for
the filename. But since I'm rather anal about site
architecture, file
naming conventions, and keeping good records, I've only ever
had to do
this when I'm working in a site someone else developed.

Never tried this, to be honest. Since dragging works, why cut
and
paste?
In my opinion DW is acting responsibly. If you have cut a
file from
the list of files, it warns you about existing links to that
file. If
you proceed with the deletion, it's deleted. Including from
the file
list. If you then paste the file somewhere else, how is DW
supposed
to know that you didn't really mean to delete it, you meant
to move
it?

in JavaScript. If they were standard menus with standard
links, DW
could manage them just fine.
Do a search in this forum for posts about the Fireworks
menus; the
ImageReady ones are no different.

How is DW to know what the absolute URL path is supposed to
be? And
if you want site root relative links, why not just use site
root

Questions on privacy and safari, browser history; top sites; private browsi

In one thread someone suggested that those concerned about the privacy of their web browsing and its history try Private Browsing. What are the consequences of Private Browsing? Does Private Browsing interfere with some of the web page features or javascript from working when I'm trying to access a page that has java or Flash? Will my bank's website load ok etc? I guess I was a little worried it would stop the showing of the last page visited and if so then hopefully that won't stop some sites from functioning.
Is Private Browsing the best way to go all around for those concerned about privacy loss in Safari or does it not really help much? I wonder why it isn't the default.
I want to be able to use my browser to access sites that don't load well when I use Firefox with NoScript, such as bank sites, but I do not want my browsing history to stay in view constantly, and I'm also upset at seeing it want to "learn" my browsing habits and try to suggest sites for me without my setting it to do this.
For this reason I will be setting Firefox or any other browser I feel is more private than Safari, possibly Camino, to be my default browser. I will probably only be using Safari when a site won't work without it, same as when I used to settle for Internet Explorer on my windows computer when Firefox didn't work.
I'm also concerned that I can't get that Google search bar out of my browser. I don't want Google keeping tabs of every site I visit. I'm not sure if Google has access to tracking every place I go if I never put any text into the Google search bar or how far into bed with Google Apple has now gone but I'm afraid of the privacy invasion possibilities.
Perhaps Google gets no info if I do not type anything into the google search bar. I wish I could drag it off the menu bar however. (If I want to go to google, I know how to type google.com for crying out loud).
I hope Apple will hold the line on its partners re: privacy in products like iPhone and Safari that work with its partners regardless of their tendencies to disrespect privacy.
Does anyone know if the fact that this Safari software wants to learn what my favorite sites are affects outside parties including Apple, Google, and/or others possibly getting access to info on my browsing habits?
If i allow the Top Sites page to work, will it just be something I MYSELF have access to the info on or are the URLs of my favorite sites reported to Apple, Google, or others?
Does hitting RESET clear things out in this regard? I'd like to use these tools if I could be sure that using Safari doesn't turn the computer into a spyware tool for outside entities, commercial interests and governmental interests to mine data from.

You can set the history to be deleted after one day (or longer). If you are concerned, it is quite easy to clear history before you sign off.<</div>
I've been using RESET to clear my history in the past; I assume it still works although Reset doesn't seem to permanently make certain cookies with future expiration dates go away permanently, which I find come back later even without my visiting a site for weeks and this was happening in the previous version of Safari too.
You can remove the Google search box (or anything else) from the menu bar. Right click on it. One option is +"remove item."+
That doesn't work in terms of just removing the Google search bar at the top right, I see.
I did not want to lose my blank for typing a URL; I only want the thing out to the right that says Google on it, which seems to use Google's search engine to go away. I certainly hope that every time I type a URL into the blank at the left top (which is not the part over to the top right that says Google and a magnifying glass) that I'm not having Google track my URLs I visit like they would if I put a search term into the blank at the top right, but maybe it does since the two are forcibly linked.
I guess I'd have to try Command L - Open Location in the Find menu if I want to try to go to a URL without using the URL blank at the top left I normally type in. I would only want to go to that trouble if typing in the top left blank for URLs results in Google tracking my URL visits like they certainly would if I typed in the top right google tool bar and hopefully Open Location does not result in the same issue.

I seriously doubt that Apple (or anyone else) is "reporting" anything about you to anyone. As you are no doubt aware, most web sites store cookies on your system when you visit that site. The information stored varies, but you can, of course, block cookies if you wish.
I have the ability to block cookies, and I use Noscript a lot too with Firefox (although that set up does not always work with a few webpages here and there, so sometimes I have to use Safari or Camino). I use Safari less and less because there is no Noscript type of third party software for it. The only time I feel I have no choice but to use Safari on my Mac is when I go to my Mobileme account.
My concern is of Top Sites "learning" my favorite sites and displaying to me the names of a lot of suggested URLs, as to who else is receiving that data; hopefully no one. Maybe I'll get to where i find info explaining that Apple and Google aren't collecting data about my "top sites" if I use that feature.
It's just that there has been an increasing amount of privacy intrusion in the commercial realm combined with a corporate arrogance in terms treating consumers as though there is no need to make any assurances or explanations to consumers to help them trust the privacy. Instead we get browbeaten by various parties about how stupid or obvious we are if we ask a question to remind the corporation it's an issue to those of us who want to feel comfortable with the privacy of the software we use.
I'll try to use the Feedback form to ask as well.
At the risk of stating the obvious, it is quite easy to find out all sorts of information about an individual if one is interested. If you are really concerned, I suggest you severely limit your use of the Internet.
I may well limit my use of the internet if what you say is true that there is no way to do any reading on the internet without being spied on by commercial and governmental interests.

Store Images Wont Showup in Firefox

hey everyone...
this may be a firefox bug im not sure but i'm having trouble with some webstores in firefox...
in some stores (apple store online, american eagle's site/store) the images of products will not show up.
they show up fine in safari but not in firefox.
i've had this problem on my pc as well but thought maybe it is a firefox mac bug.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, hey. Cool! I had just noticed something today that I thought might have been useful. I'll share it anyway.
I noticed that a button from PayPal showed up in FireFox, but not Internet Explorer (this is all on Windows XP). Apparently, IE was sending a get uri that PayPal couldn't grok. IE just showed the x in the image icon.
The link to the PayPal site was through a secure server:

In our case Site means Store (coz there is Site means DC).
Yes this new site is our new Store and from where we sell our product.
To add up in my previous question, because Store A product is identical to new site Store B product
we can extend the Article (Site to site) together with their MAP through Material Master record.
In selling price created in VK11, can we also extend Price?

Saving web site IDs

I keep losing userid's I have "saved" on web sites (stores, banks, credit cards). After I log off them, the IDs are gone. What do I need to do on Safari preferences? Thanks

Hi Don,
The unlock code is different with multiple accounts support. ADE will help you to remember couple of last codes you inputted besides accounts activation. It will not prompt you again unless you gave it too many unlock codes (including wrong ones).

Migrating a MW4 site to MW8

Hi,
Please can anyone help - I have recently upgraded to CS2,
include dreamweaver 8 from Dreamweaver 4. I can't find any details
on migrating the site and when I tried to import to 8, everything
was 'greyed' out. Asking for .ste file which I can't find anywhere.
Is the answer to rebuild the site or is there a quicker, easier
way? Any help much appreciated. Many thanks

No migration is required. Just define your DW8 site to point
to the root of
the DW4 site and you are good to go.

Site Group based output in WPMA transaction.

Hi Experts,
In IS - Retail there is a transaction called WPMA so as to generate Idocs for material, bonus buy, Tax, EAN etc. My current requirememnt is to make sure , when i choose a material no, then all stores/ plants incorporated in a SITE Group, gets pushed in the idoc , and store specific discounts / artes fet reflected.
how do i do taht.
Setting is done in VK12 , and CL24N. But it is not triggereing all the sites/ stores in a given store, when i am executing the WPMA transaction.
Pls suggest.
