DWL-122 Encryption problems

Got a little problem. I have got a D-Link DWL-122 wireless usb stick for my G3 ibook (running OS 10.2.8). When no encryption is used on the express station, the ibook can connect to the wrieless easily with no problems. When I enable encryption on the express station (private WEP 1), along with updating the ibook with the passwork it can no longer connect.
Yes the password is 100% correct and I have tried all the different WEP types on the DWL-122 software (eg Apple password, 104 bits HEX etc).
just wondering if anyone has a DWL-122 and express station and got them working together with encryption enabled?
thanks
Connor

Problems either with the driver or interface provided by D-link, if the hex equivelent of the networks password has a 0 in it, for some reason the dlink software keeps deleting the 0 and therefor cannot connect to the network.

  • Patch for D-Link DWL-122

    I tried installing my DWL-122 adaptor. The installation worked but when I tried to open D-link with system preferences, I got a notice saying D-link panel could not be opened in systems preference. I contacted D-link and they told me to call apple and ask for a patch to connect D-link to version 1.32. Any ideas? What the heck is a patch?

    hiya,
    just to let u know i have the same d link dwl 122. i have had no problems with the adapter as i have used a 3rd party driver that u will find below on this link.
    http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/15997
    This adapter is know to have problems but this fixes it all as it has now made the d link dwl-122 a cheap partner for wireless networks.
    hope this is what u r looking 4.
    As for the memory u must switch off the ibook and open the keyboard via the latches near the esc and f12 buttons. then to open up the airport slot and then just plug in the new memory. see user manual that came witht the ibook.
    kind regards

  • Trouble With DWL-122

    Well, I have an old iBook (G3, running something like 10.2), that has been having problems since I got a new wireless adapter a couple of years ago. This adapter, the DWL-122, is supposed to work with 10.2, but I've been having lots of problems with it. When I started plugging it in, it worked fine. However, the computer started going haywire, with or without the adapter. Every 2 minutes, it would announce that I needed to restart my iBook. Now, I found the new drivers to the DWL-122, but I decided just to completely uninstall all of the drivers, anyway. So now, my iBook's display is having trouble. It produces weird bars, and sometimes, when I move it around, it just sort of dies. I have no clue what is happening!

    It sounds like you may be having logic board problems. Enough dual USB G3 iBooks suffered from this problem that Apple began the iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program in January of 2004. Check out the FAQ page and if the symptoms look familiar, give Apple a call. If your iBook qualifies, it's a free fix.
    If you are past the three-year time limit, try calling and asking for Customer Relations (NOT Customer Service--they can't help you) and ask them to please make an exception to the three-year limit in your case.
    Good luck!

  • Encryption problem caused by Adobe?

    Dear All,
    I am a video editor and exchange files with my collaborator via the cloud, but not via Adobe Cloud which does not allow .mp4 files to be sent due to copyright problems.  My cloud service is not allowing my collaborator to view my latest .mp4 file created by Adobe Premiere Pro 2014, stating that the file is encrypted.  I think this encryption problem is being caused by my cloud service, but I'm wondering if Adobe Premiere has inadvertently written any copyright encryption into this file that I'm not aware of.  This becomes very frustrating when you're trying to collaborate on a video of your own creation!  Thanks for your help.

    Dear John,
    I tried the zip file, but it still could not be opened on the other end -- same error message.  Thanks.

  • AEGE wireless encryption problem

    I recently bought an AE GE wich I received last week. When configured first time it was upgraded with 7.2.1 firmware, also my MBP was upgraded with latest Airport Utility 5.2.1. Connected to my AEGE I have 1 MBP, 1 AppleTV, 2 Fujitsu-Siemens Vista laptops through wireless and 1 sippura, 1 dreambox and one Oki C3200n wired. I also have a USB HD connected. Everything was great until the morning of the 5th day. Waking up my MBP I got connected to my WPA/WPA2 WLAN, but I only got a 169.x.x.x IP address. I checked the Vista computers, the same issue there, no DHCP only a 169.x.x.x address. AppleTV no IP at all. If I manually configure the computers with a IP address, some packets goes through, but the packet loss is huge.
    Whatever combination of encryption used and channel selected, the AEGE is unusable. Using no encryption on the wlan gives me normal behaviour. Right now I have downgraded to 7.2 but the issues remains. Hardware error or a software problem?

    Panther will work wirelessly using encryption. You are probably just not setting it up right.

  • Any one have the dwl-122 usb adapter

    Until apple corrects the airport extreme issues with the imac, I'm considering going with a usb adapter, does anyone have any experience with the dlink 122 , I see that there are current os x drviers available.
    The other thing I like, is that WHEN apple does post an updated driver or osx update I can also use this adapter with my tivo, which is currently using one of my ever so scarse hardwire ethernet ports on my router.
    If the problem is indeed with psp, I suspect that apple will have to obtain for intel or write an updated drvier which disables it. Considering that it took intel sometime to get the 9.0 driver out on the pc side, I would not expect a quick situation, unless this problem really gets out of hand. Opinions????

    yes it is possible to use a non linksys adapter with the linksys router...here , the only problem could be the wpa encryption.....this encryption is not supported by all the adapters and all the operating system....as the xbox is able to connect with the same wireless configuration , there should not be any problem from the router end.....

  • Serious encryption problem alert

    Hi guys. Are any of you having this problem?
    Yesterday I installed the most recent update from Apple in my Macbook Pro, OS Leopard.
    Today I noticed a serious fault in my computer. When I’m trying to access any website that is supposed to be encrypted (ie. Paypal, banks, etc) they aren’t encrypted or are only partially encrypted. I am pretty sure that this wasn’t happening before.
    I haven’t installed any software recently and everything was working fine until yesterday, the day I installed the security update. So I guess it’s not a coincidence. When I try it on Firefox the websites are not encrypted and when I try it on Safari I get a warning from Safari saying that it can’t recognise the certificate or that is invalid.
    Any of you have experienced this?
    Thanks for your help.

    What you are seeing with your browsers has nothing to do with the update. However, you did not mention what update. I presume it was iTunes 10. That being the latest. Make sure you have the latest versions of whatever browsers you are using. If you experience difficulty at secure web sites contact the bank, etc...

  • Enabling Encryption Problem

    I followed the instructions in Article: HT4175 titled 'iOS 4: Understanding data protection' at least 3 times. Despite backup, wiping the phone of all personal data and restoring I can't get the sign 'Data protection is enabled.' to show. I've used 4 digit passwords and more complicated ones to no avail. I have to encrypt work information, I am in health care. What am doing wrong?

    Could the problem be that my phone is very nearly full, i.e. only as 230MB left?
    No.
    Have you tried restoring as a "new" device & not from backup? If not, try that. When finished, eject your phone, DO NOT SYNC any content back to your phone, rather verify that all is working properly. If so, sync your content back to your phone. If not, make an appointment at an Apple store.

  • SX20 encryption problem

    Hi
    I have a problem to start videoconference from SX20 to Polycom HDX 7000. (H.323)
    Connection initiated from SX20 to Polycom - only strange voices are going from both sites. No video and audio.
    When I'm starting call form Polycom to SX20 works ok.
    When I disable encryption also everything is ok.
    I tried to force encryption and change key lenght, no results.
    Maybe someone have some ideas how to resolve problem?
    Regards Mat

  • Help!! Encryption problem...

    Bought an imac a few days ago. Mac is totally new to me. Anyway, some of my file are encrypted now. I accepted the encryption a few days ago, while under the impression that the mac would be better protected from outside interference if the 'stuff was encrypted'. Wrong! It now appears that some of my files cannot be opened. Anyone have any ideas on how I can "un-encrypt"?

    Thank you for your suggestion but I have already had a couple of phone sessions with NETGEAR support and they don't see any problems with the router settings etc. They referred me to Apple support, who helped me discover that it is possible to communicate with the router but only if I turn off the encryption/security software, which I don't want to do. The frustrating thing is that I can connect wirelessly from a laptop running Windows 7 and two Anroid smart phones, with WPA-2 in place, without a problem. Do you have any other ideas?

  • Noob with TDE encryption problem

    I'm not a SQL guy, but I was tasked with creating a TDE instance on a dev server a few months ago.
    I created the new instance and ran
    USE master;
    GO
    CREATE MASTER KEY ENCRYPTION BY PASSWORD = 'asdfasdfasdfare23rfyf89werf9fer8c9c8wer9ch89ch9sds';
    go
    CREATE CERTIFICATE MyServerCertificate WITH SUBJECT = 'My Certificate';
    go
    USE MyDatabaseName;
    GO
    CREATE DATABASE ENCRYPTION KEY WITH ALGORITHM = AES_128 ENCRYPTION BY SERVER CERTIFICATE MyServerSCertificate;
    GO
    ALTER DATABASE [MyDatabaseName] SET ENCRYPTION ON;
    GO
    --Warning: The certificate used for encrypting the database encryption key has not been backed up. You should immediately back up the certificate and the private key associated with the certificate. If the certificate ever becomes unavailable or if you must restore or attach the database on another server, you must have backups of both the certificate and the private key or you will not be able to open the database.
    OPEN MASTER KEY DECRYPTION BY PASSWORD = '23987hxJKL969#ghf0%94467GRkjg5k3fd117r$$#1946kcj$n44nhdlj'
    BACKUP MASTER KEY TO FILE = 'C:\Projects\SQL\My_Exported_MasterKey'
    ENCRYPTION BY PASSWORD = 'ThisIsMyPa55word!';
    GO
    Everything went fine, the db is encrypted. I've since been told that we're going to move the db to production, and I'm unable to find the certificate or key.
    What can I do?

    So, given my original example, for
    ENCRYPTION BY PASSWORD =
    I'm using
    'asdfasdfasdfare23rfyf89werf9fer8c9c8wer9ch89ch9sds'
    correct?
    And for
    FILE = 'C:\Projects\SQL\My_Exported_MasterKey'
    If this is the case, it's a problem. I'm not seeing anything in
    C:\Projects\SQL\

  • Extremely slow boot - encryption problems?

    I'm running LUKS (no LVM) on a large encrypted root and an encrypted swap.  During boot (using systemd), two long (about 1.5 minutes) happen.  Right after I'm prompted for a password for root (from encrypt hook) and while trying to load the encrypted swap, it times out waiting for swap.
    journalctl -b is littered with messages like

    I fear it's a dying harddrive.  Any suggestions, please?

    Hum, well my first step to debug this would be to #comment out the lines in /etc/fstab for the SWAP and see if you still have the same problem.
    If you do then you know the problem is somehow related to the Swap setup.
    If you don't then you know it is probably not a problem with Swap.

  • Encryption problems on my 9300

    Hi guys
    I encrypted my memory card a few months ago. Problem is I forgot the password I used to do this. Now I want to use my other memory card from a different phone on my BB, which I did not encrypt, and I get a msg saying this memory card has encrypted files and I should enter a password to access the memory card. I tried a 3rd memory card (also unencrypted) and the same message appears.
    Ideally what I would like to do is somehow recover the password I entered when I encrypted my first memory card, n not have to format the card.
    Suggestions would be much appreciated...

    Sorry, I understand how you feel. Just please encrypt a password that is strong enough but can easily remembered or don't encrypt at all.
