The real question is "Can I load the songs from my MP3 into iTunes?"
Once they are in iTunes, it is easy to get them into the phone.
Can your MP3 player attach as a USB drive? Then it should be pretty straightforward to import them into iTunes? On the Mac you would just drag and drop on the iTunes icon.
Do your MP3's use some sort of copy protection? Then maybe not so straightforward.

Ok here's the deal...
I have a New iPhone 4s and a $24.99 iTunes Match Membership with 8,000 songs stored on iCloud.
I have a 64kbps audio file that is 8 hours long, and is 95mb.
It won't upload to the iCloud as it is only 64kbps, and must be greater than 96kbps.
If I re-encode at 128kbps, the file is 471mb, way too large for me to want to upload.
So I just want to manually transfer this file to the iPhone without iCloud/iMatch.
I can't drag and drop it to my iPhone from within iTunes.
I can do it from a third party prog called Phoneview, which transfers the file through a Finder interface, but when I do, it does not import the crucial "remember playback position," metadata setting that iTunes has. And so when I open the file on my iPhone it starts this 8 hour mp3 from the beginning each time.
I would like it to remember the playback position...
I figure if I can just transfer the file to the iPhone from iTunes, (and not the Finder), this will work.
Can anyone offer me a suggestion?

I don't like the way richisgame treated you and others in this thread, either. The only reason I'm responding with a solution is because I was looking for a solution to essentially the same problem richisgame was asking for, and I found this thread. This page was the second link that came up in Google when I searched "iCloud music storage 64kbps" - so it's clear this topic is of interst to many people.
A little background on why this is important to me.: A substantial portion (more than 2,000 tracks) of my iTunes playlist is from spoken word CDs, which I encoded into 64kpbs mono to save space. It's not important for me to have them available in the cloud, but I sometimes want to listen to some of these tracks on the go with my iPod Touch. Nearly all of my music is encoded at 128kpbs or better, and most of it is available through iTunes Match - so I'm not very interested in iCloud storage anyway, at least not at this time.
After doing a little bit of experimenting, here's the solution I foun to get individual tracks onto my iPod Touch (which I'm sure will work for iPhones and iPads equally well).Just go to System Preferneces on the iOS device, select Music, and turn off iTunes Match. Click on your iOS device in iTunes and then click on Music, and you'll be able to add artists, albums, playlists, individual trakcs, etc. on your device again. (It might take a few moments for iTunes to allow you to select individual artists/albums/playlists, etc. after you've unselected iTunes Match on your device, so be patient). Select what you want, perform a sync, and you're done.
To turn iTunes Match back on, just go back to System Preferneces on your iOS device, click Music, and then turn on iTunes Match.
I understand your frustration with richisgame and others who act rudly while asking for help. All I'm saying is there's got to be a way to not reward undesirable behavior while still helping those who find these forums looking for help. I'm not sure what the solution is yet.

Import podcast MP3 to iphone

I want to import a podcast into my iphone as an MP3 file in a separate playlist and no longer have considered a podcast. How can I do that?

Disappointed that I got no help from this community. Maybe it had already been answered so I was ignored? I tried to use the search function but results for searching a variety of compbinations of the words "blackberry, export, addressbook" wasn't turning up much.
Anyway, for anyone else who might be searching for the answer, I figured out that it's quite easy to synch your blackberry to your Outlook (if you haven't already), then sync your iPhone to your Outlook. It all transfers over well and without too much loss of data. The only thing it won't carry (and I'm not sure how many would care) is people's BB PIN numbers. Everything else was perfect. Even contact photos were transfered and placed properly.

Unable to move mp3 to iphone 4s

I am no longer able to upload/move mp3 songs into my iphone 4s. "Get Info" section no longer allows me to change/rename nor add lyrics or pics to the songs. Please help...

Does it have a cloud button next to it? If it does, click the cloud button and it will download and you will then be able to sync it to the iPhone.
If it doesn't have a cloud button, can you actually double click the song and play it in iTunes? If this is so, right click > get info and make sure it was purchased on the same itunes account that your computer is signed in to (and authorized for).

Transfer mp3 to iphone, while not at home

I'm at a sound studio and record a new song, that I want to listen to while traveling home. How do I get the large (100mb+) mp3 onto my phone, when I don't have my private computer present?
Some have suggested sending the file through email and opening that message on my iPhone, but then I can't play it without internet access.

Transfering MP3 to Iphone

Recently I had to reload my windows XP workstation I was able to reload ITUNES 10.6.1.7 but since then I have not been able to create playlists or add any MP3's I think it is related to the fact I origionally synched the IPHONE to the computer before the reload. Does anyone know of any way to get this work again?

The problem is if I import a CD, create a Playlist and try to "drag" it to my IPHONE it displays a Circle with a line through it. No error messages. I noticed the existing play lists are Greyed out. If I highlight the IPHONE and select Music tab the entries there which are selected are Entire Music Library, Include Music Videos, Include voice memos. But they are greyed out as well. I looked in Iphone help and it said that you can only sync an IPHONE to one computer. As mentioned in my origional note I had to rebuild this computer due to another problem this past winter, so that is why I think ITUNES or the IPHONE think this is another computer.

Good news. You no longer need to sync video to your iPhone if you have a Mac running 10.5.
StreamToMe on the app store allows you to stream most of the common video formats to your iPhone via wifi (converting them automatically for you).

Hello, I have a number of mp3 karaoke tracks on my iPhone. I edited some on my PC (removed the first few seconds of silence) and on attempting to sync with my iPhone, only some edited tracks are accepted, others remaining as before, i.e. with the period of silence at the start of the track (2-15 secs as is common with such tracks). Interestingly, it allowed the syncing of one complete playlist from iTunes but not two others of the same size. Any ideas appreciated? Thanks, Mike

I'm not understanding your question -- restore your iPhone from what? If you have pictures already on your phone that you want to protect (and/or remove from your phone) you can import them from the phone to a computer. That is a good idea in any event as there are a number of ways the photos on your phone can be lost (loss of the phone itself, hardware problem, software glitch, etc.). Can you bluetooth/email mp3s to iphone?

Hi, I'm probably getting an iphone pretty soon and need to know one thing. Can you send mp3s to your iphone by bluetooth or attached to an email and then play them using the ipod function? In other words add them to your library on the iphone?
I know you're supposed to do it via itunes on your computer but is this possible? Or another way I haven't thought of that takes the computer out of the equation?

I bought iPhone 3Gs 32GB 4 days ago.Now i find that 3 Mp3 have issues that is when i try to play them the iPhone freezes and i have to press the home button twice to come out of it.I have issues only with this 3.But they play fine on my mac machine.....

You could also try removing all your music and readd the music and try again. It could be a fault on the transfer that is causing the error. If you just recently purchased the music and continue to have the problem, report your problem with Apple by clicking on your Account Login, finding the purchase, and request a redownload of the songs(album) that has failed to work on the iPhone.
Apple may unlock the music for a redownload.

Yes. That's what will happen. As I said, you can only sync to 1 iTunes database at a time. In order to set up a sync relationship with the new iTunes library, the media on your phone will be erased and replaced by media in the new iTunes library.

At this time, you cannot make a custom TEXT tone for the iPhone.
You can make custom ringtones, the sound the phone makes when the call comes in... but not for a text message.
You have several "text message" choices on the iPhone, but this is all you can use for now.
There are no applications that can make the custom text tone as there is no way to load it on the iPhone to recognize it.
