  • Can we do a fresh install of TES 6.2.1 on a new server, but point to an database currently used by the older version (v5.3.x)

The current database is 2.5 gb, but it is already on SQL Server 2008, and doesn’t need to be upgraded.
In reading the documentation, it looks like the installer can install a fresh copy, which I’m assuming creates the requisite tables in the database.  It can also update an existing install, along with updating the database table structure.  What we weren’t sure of was if it could do a fresh install on a new server, but point to an database currently used by the older version of tidal.  It does say ‘The database modifications are performed when the master is first started after the installation.’ in the upgrade section of 6.2.1 Quickstart Page 6-5.  Hopefully that works regardless of if it was an upgrade or a fresh install.

We worked with one of their partners gssinfotech to create a custom runbook for "upgrade in place"
I think you might have to go to SQL2012 with 6.2.1 (there's a ton of benefits like always on that make BCP/DR with Tidal very smooth.) We've been Tidal 6 /SQL2012 for a while now so I forget. we're about 80% done with our 5.3.1 conversion
We restore our 5.3.1 admiral database to a sandbox SQL2012 server, run some cleanup script (if not upgrade in place, don't forget to set queue to zero and disable all jobs)
We installed a tidal Master then run every major rev and point to that database. (6.0,6.1,6.2,6.2 sp1)
The database gets upgraded during the process (we have some trouble with our "older" 531 so we do the same thing each time)
We then can use transporter to transport "legacy" 531 jobs to our pristine Tidal 6.2.1 (non-prod ) environment so we can take advantage of mapping files, etc. to switch things as needed
This gives a lot of flexibility to moving things in when one piece or job set at a time.. we use it to move job frameworks into nonprod Tidal 6 so that developers and other groups can review / asses / rewrite / test /  their jobs on tidal 6.

  • MS Database Daemon-Older Version Prevents MS Office from Launching

I just updated my MS Office, and i get an error message that it cannot be launched since an "older version of MS Database Daemon is still running". It instructs me to delete the older version from "startup items."
How do I go to Startup Items and delete the older daemon so the new one can launch?

Office 2004 Applications Won't Work in Lion
You must have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite and will not work in Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion.
You may want to consider as well:
These two suites are similar to Libre Office but not as current or as well-supported:
    NeoOffice
    Open Office
And, then there is Apple's iWork suite:
Pages - word processing and layout
    Keynote - presentation
    Numbers - spreadsheet
Each can open and save Office compatible files. They may be purchased separately via the Mac App Store for $19.99 each.
(Access to the Mac App Store requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or higher and an Apple ID.)
All your documents will be fine.

  • Creative Cloud - restricting use of older versions and forcing use of latest versions - NO THANKS!

I am a long-time customer of Adobe Products.  I have a unique roll as a Graphics management position, while also functioning as our company's IT administrator.  At home, for messing around, sure, creative cloud could be usable,  however, in my fairly demanding work environment, we encounter issues like OSX compatibility, occasionally needing to work from a PC, opening files from 2005, and relying on a specific workflows our business has built on foundations like Distiller PDF workflows etc.  When you force upgrades to newer versions, you dissuade us from being interested in the Creative Cloud platform.  It's really a shame, because small businesses like ours would benefit a lot from a neccesary "subscription"  so the newest adobe products are always available, where otherwise, convincing our company owner that a fairly pricey upgrade is neccesary because of a given set of features.  If the features aren't something the owner sees as a neccesity, there is really no reason for us to upgrade, so we drag things out.  For example, we are still on CS3 right now, and we will be making the jump to CS6 out of neccesity (CS3 will not allow us to edit old pagemaker files that have suddenly become our responsibility without crashing, where the CS6 trial handled it wonderfully).
The creative cloud is a nice thought that would overcome a lot of 'upgrade' obsticles in the long-term for those of us in the small-business venture, but the version restrictions are too harsh.  In the accounting world there is a general rule that you can expunge data older than 7 years old, but if you get rid of that data before those 7 years are up you often find yourself in trouble.  Software is often the same way when you work with such a wide-array of tools as the adobe creative suite provides.  We essentially end up with what equates to a giant database of images, videos, and other files of misc origin and formats that we need a way to manage.  If we encounter problems (Much like I did recently where CS3 would not open the pagemaker files) and know we can count on another version of that same software (CS6, in this case) to open those same files, then why would you ever want to take those options away from a customer?  We will be paying the same fee regardless of what old versions we use, and while in the scenerio I give, the newer version of the software is the resolution to the problem, there is an equal liklihood of encountering a scenerio where the newer software wont allow me to open a file, but the older version will.
I just don't understand, what's the harm?  You don't need to "support" those old versions, but they should ALWAYS be available for download and use on systems that can use them, ESPECIALLY in the style of environment you are offering where the old versions won't appeal to everyone, so it won't waste bandwidth or require a tremendous ammount of storage & serving on your part.
What gives adobe?  I want Creative Cloud to succeed as much as you!  But I need it to work for me!

    Hi Fujilives,
I copied this from the Creative Cloud FAQ
Q:I am a Creative Cloud member using the CS6 applications included in my membership. Will I lose access to CS6 when CS7 becomes available in Creative Cloud? A: No, if you have downloaded and installed the CS6 versions of the applications, you will continue to have access to them without interruption as long as your membership remains active. When the CS7 versions become available, you will have up to a year to download and install them and they will run on your machine along with CS6 versions.
So we are planning to give users access to and the ability to use the versions they started with even after new versions come out (you don't have to upgrade) but it wasn't possible to include access to older versions with the launch of this product (that I'm aware of). But I understand the need for some users to have access to older verisons based on your explanation. I'll pass along your feedback.

  • How do I reinstall an older version of Aperture from the App Store?

    Hello,
I have an older Macbook - 13 inch early 2008. It is still running fine on 10.7.5 Lion, but can't update to a later version of OS X, as it is not compatible. I have Aperture 3.4.5, which I purchased from the App Store.
Following a hard disk problem, I've reinstalled the laptop, used software update to get all the latest patches, and have recovered my files and applications from my Time Machine Backup. Unfortunately, Aperture is no longer able to open files from my Sony Nex camera ("Unsupported Image Format" message") even though it worked before I rebuilt my Mac, and is listed as supported under Aperture 3.4.5. I've done all of the "Repair permissions", "repair database" and "Rebuild Database" things, but it hasn't helped.
I've tried to fix this by removing Aperture (in case my Time Machine backup version is in some way corrupted) and reinstalled from the App Store, but the App Store won't let me have Aperture anymore, even though I've paid for it, because my system is no longer compatible with the current version, 3.5. I can't see a way of downloading a full copy of the older version compatible with my system. I can see updates for Aperture listed at http://support.apple.com/downloads/#aperture, including Aperture 3.4.5, but these require a copy of Aperture 3.0 or later already installed to update, and even if I run the 3.4.5 update, it tells me it won't work because my copy of Aperture is from the App store.
Can anyone help me find a way of navigating the App Store or Apple web site to get the copy of Aperture 3.4.5 I have licensed from Apple?
    Many thanks.

    @léonie
Thanks for your help with this. I've downloaded the latest RAW support updates supported on my machine - V4.09 that seems to contain all of the RAW formats for previous updated including V4.06, which includes the NEX 3N, my camera. After a short while (there seemed to be some sort of background processing ging on in Aperture) it started to allow my NEX 3N photos to be viewed. Some of the thumbnails were corrupted, but if I made a slight edit in each of these files, the thumbnails updated and all was well.
Prior to this, I raised a call with Apple, because the inability to reinstall software from the App Store that I've purchased from in App Store to a machine that supports OSX 10.7.5 and no later strikes me as a problem. I need to know that if my Time Machine backup fails and I need to reinstall, I've got somewhere I can go.
The support people at Apple were very helpful, and it feels like they recognise this as a problem, and are working to resolve it behind the scenes. The App Store will not allow me to download the last version that works on my machine at the moment, but it sounds like Apple is thinking about how to do this. In the meantime, they are shipping me a copy of Aperture 3.0 on CD, and sending me a registration code. This will solve my immediate problem.
This does make me wary about using the App Store for purchases in the future. I don't upgrade my hardware that frequently - I have no real need to as it just keeps working - and so not having physical copies of installation media for when the applications stop supporting my OS is a worry. On the face of it, maintaining prior versions of the software for older machines to download from the App Store seems like a reasonable solution, but they are not there yet, and there is no real commitment for them to do this. Anyone who doesn't back up their Apps in Time Machine (probably the majority of users) could loose them altogether when Apple moves on, and cuts app support for older OS versions.
Thanks to @léonie and @Frank Cagianno for your help.

  • I hate the newest version of itunes. how do i revert back to an older version?

i cant stand the newest version of itunes. and now i cant figure out how to revert to an older version.  i watched the tutorial but i still cant stand it.  is there anyway to downgrade back to the way itunes was before this completely different version.

You can get closer to the old look with ctrl-b to turn on the menu bar and ctrl-s to turn on the sidebar, then select Artists from the selection of views across the top.
If you still want to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the installer fromhere, uninstall iTunes and suppporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

  • Export and import a whole older version datebase to a new one

    Hi, everyone,
There is a requirement to export one Oracle database(8.0.5) and import into one database instance(Oracle 8.1.7 over WinNT). Are there any detailed procedure or check to follow for this operation? or any document and URL helpful can guide this operation.
Or anything should be carefully for different version and different OS?
    Thanks in advance,
    Hawk

You need to run your export with the older version software. In other words, use the 8.1.7 version export program if you want into import to 8.1.7. This 8.1.7 export file will also be compatible with the 8.0.5 import program, but not the other way around.
There's a compatibility matrix on Metalink. If you have a Metalink account, logon and do a search on "import export compatibility matrix".

  • Older version of apps under iCloud?

As I understand iCloud does not physically stores apps from my iOS device, but is able to get them for me if I need them to restore.
What happens if iCloud won't have an app version compatible with my iOS (e.g. when my iOS will be outdated)?
Is iCloud obtaining apps from AppStore? Does it have a separate database where it keeps all older versions of apps??

    Anyone?

  • Function to go back to older version of an object.

    Hello my friends,
I would like to know how can I retreive my function to an older
version. I know how I can do it manualy using the version managment but I want to know if there is a way to do it using
some sord of function or program.
    Thanks in advance,
    Eitan Illuz.

    Dear Friend,
I will give you step by step how to do this.
Prerequisite is the object should be managed by Version management.
    Step1:
Example you have 3 versions in Version database and you want to retrieve one version.
Get the version number which you want.
    Step 2.
In a type1 program ,By calling this function module SVRS_GET_VERSION_REPS with object name and version as export parameter.
The result/source code text will be in internal table, process the internal table and write this into a file.
    Step 3.
Using the internal table trdir_tab for the other object attributes like type, version, prg name etc.
    Hope this solves your problem.

  • Link to older version of Itunes?

I'm one of the ones who "upgraded" to a non-functional Itunes 7.6.1. I can't find a download to revert to an older version of Itunes. Does anyone have one?
Also how do I uninstall Itunes 7.6?
    Thanks,
    Anthony

Unfortunately, and this part really p!sses me off, is once you upgrade and do not have a back up iTunes database, you're stuck.
I just found 7.4.6 on my machine when I went to open iTunes and the database started to update. I hit Force Quit, too late, but any iTunes alteration and you're sunk. So now I have to use 7.4.6 that I have no idea where it came from since I have been actively saying no, by ignoring updates in Software Updater, since 7.2 was the best as far as I can see. I now have to use 7.4.6. My backed up database will not show all the music that was in it when it successfully loaded in 7.2. And in the 7.4.6 version half my music listed can't be found. You'd think that iTunes would be far more sophisticated in music maintenance. Even Quark when it sees file that it needs will ask if you want to access them. And this has been in place for years. Now I have a collection that is scattered all over the place and with 5 libraries, not all intact. I'm looking at several days of constant attention to reorganize my library. iTunes really screwed it up. I found one song buried 7 folders deep that was part of an album and was not kept with the rest. You just have to shake your head or bang it against a wall.
I am seeing a lot of cross contamination and unauthorized alteration by Apple apps and am wondering when the Class Action Suits are going to start flying. In some respects Apple is no better than M$. Worse even. Apple why does the database have to be altered so that if a need for retrograding is not possible? I have seen a couple of times a "previous" folder pop up but they are linked to the new version and are of no help.
    Good Luck.

  • Older versions of toolkits

    Hello,
is there a site from which I can download older versions of toolkits. At my workplace, I am eligible to use some of the tool kits (DSC, Database connectivity toolkit, etc). Since we are using older version (2009) of LabVIEW, I cannot use the toolkit versions available on the NI evaluation site. I could not find the older version also in ftp site. Could you tell me where I can download the older versions of the tool kits.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Zacharia

    Hi Zacharia,
    Thanks for your post.
Unfortunately only the latest versions of the toolkits are available to download via the NI website. However I would encourage you to get in touch with your local NI office for further assistance as they may be able to provide you with a copy.
    Hope that helps!

  • Installing a new opatch version when an older version already exists

    Hi,
I'm going to apply a security patch (CPUJan2009) on 10g databases on Windows server 2003. There is already an opatch tool installed in the oracle home, however the patch requires a newer version. Therefore, is it possible to directly install the newer version into the same opatch folder (what will then happen to the older version? will there be a conflict when installing the new version?) or do I first need to deinstall the older version?
Also, how can I backup the older version? Just copy/paste the folder in another location?
    Thanks.

There is no deinstallation, just do following:
    cd $ORACLE_HOME
    mv OPatch OPatch.old
unzip new OPatch which YOu downloaded from metalink
    And that's it
Also, how can I backup the older version? Just copy/paste the folder in another location?Yes, copy or move. OPatch is simply collection of files, there is nothing installed. so no need to deinstall.

  • I need to buy an older version mac to run OS9

I need to buy an older version mac to run OS9 for a program,
What would be a good option?
    Thanks

Perhaps the PowerBook G4 (1GHz or 867MHz) model portable Mac, which appears
to have similar OS 9.2 and OS X 10 support as some Quicksilver towers, to a degree.
    M8858LL/A (867 MHz) or M8859LL/A (1.0 GHz) later: Mac OS X 10.2.3 and Mac OS 9.2.2
The towers are superior; upgradeable in hard drives, optical drives, RAM & Graphics.
These can do more, and with separate hard drives, they can support several OSs.
OS X 10.5.8 and Before, and Classic with OS X 10.4.11; and boot OS 9.2.2 with the
original install software shipped with the computer.
For comparing specifications and update information, see http://everymac.com and/or
get information (download database) from http://mactracker.ca and there was some
information in Apple Support hardware specifications for older computer models.
Some resellers specialize in vintage computers and a few better companies repair
them for a living; so they can offer a limited guaranty and offer better goods. I've
heard good reports on http://wegenermedia.com about their service & inventory; as
an authorized service agent, they also can repair newer hardware under warranty.
{However, be sure the computer you want has the correct original software discs
included with the sale, if you hope to run OS9.2.2 and OS X 10.2 or later, in it.
    The software is very hard to find separately, and many sellers do not include it.}
Maybe a portable Mac can be located to perform the tasks you need, but the ideal
could be a tower computer; for overall value of cost vs. benefit, by the numbers...
But that may be a personal call, and not necessarily objective.
    Good luck & happy computing!
