DX2200 - on-board Realtek HD/MS UUA driver issue.

Hi guys,
I'm currently recycling a DX2200, ex-business PC.
The HDD has been whipped out and destroyed under the Data Protection Act so I've had to install XP Pro SP3 OEM on this unit using a spare HDD.
Now most of this process has gone smoothly, nearly all drivers are installed and working.
Except the on-board sound card... The HP provided drivers give an error "Microsoft Bus driver should be loaded in your system before installing Realtek HD Audio driver !".
So I've installed the "Microsoft Bus driver" (aka UUA) from HP's website and still get the same error.
After a google I find that the drivers are for SP2 and are outdated... So I've tried the latest versions of both UUA and Realtek HD drivers.
The latest drivers install... but after a reboot the sound card is not active or even listed in Device Manager.
I cannot get support from HP for this unit as I'm not the original owner and it's miles out of warrenty.
But I'm just wanting to prevent yet another PC which would suit a silver surfer perfectly go to landfill...
This question was solved.
View Solution.

Hi:
You needed to install the MS UAA driver first before installing the audio driver. Now that you have the right MS UAA driver for SP3, you may want to just blow the installation away and try again.
But first before you even install the MS UAA driver, install the chipset driver first and reboot.
Now, if you have $10 to spare, and you live in the USA or Canada, you can get a set of HP restore disks for your PC which will restore it to factory condition and no need to pull your hair out over the sound drivers.
Here's how:
1. Write down the part number and serial # on top of the computer on the silver tag. The model # is an HP-Compaq dx2200, but the part number will be found on that silver tag below the serial #.
2. Call HP at 1-800-952-7689, option 1 (ordering restore disks is part of the list in the option).
3. Provide the info asked by the rep that answers the phone. Some just ask for the serial #, some want both, or they will just want the serial number and type of computer (dx2200).
4. Have a Master Card or Visa ready for purchasing. They don't take Discover. You will be charged $10.00.
You will receive the disks by First Class Mail or you can pay an additional $10.00 for FedEx shipping.

  • MSI P4M900M2-L ~Realtek High Definition Audio Driver Issue Resolved In XP!

Realtek High Definition Audio Driver Issue Resolved!  MSI P4M900M2-L Intel Dual Core VIA P4M900 Chipset 8 CH Azalia Audio.
There is an issue w/ the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver for the MSI P4M900M2-L Intel Based Dual Core Via P4M900 Chipset based Motherboard w/ MS XP Home Premium Installed (Vista driver installs fine as I have built 4 of these in the last week, but the XP Audio driver doesn't).
I could not get either Audio driver from the CD driver disk nor the MSI site to install w/ Win XP Home installed. Live Update for that Motherboard does not contain the Audio Driver either.
After 3 days and multiple attempts to use MSI's very wanting (in my opinion), Technical Support forms and call-in line, I hunted, and hunted and found the driver(s) on CNET. They not only work great but as designed. I had almost given up and I actually installed an add-in sound card....But this is a machine for a customer. Then I searched again and found a real solution.

Good luck to everyone, this will save you RMA'ing those boards over a stupid Audio driver issue, as they are great w/ the Intel Dual Core 775 CPU's from 2.0~3.0Ghz. Can't really tell the difference between the 2 CPU's w/ the Dual Core Program running (a utility supplied on the driver disk or on the Driver site!) I have built both..2 of each.

  • Error 5009 0x8002802b from realtek high definition audio driver

A game I've been trying to play always crashes, and the tech people told me to update my drivers. I updated my video card without a hitch, but for the audio drivers I get this error for my realtek high definition audio driver:

I'm using a HP 2000 Notebook PC, and I'll copy and paste info from a dxdiag if it would help at all:

  • Logic Board or Hard Drive Issue?

Recently my PowerBook G4 failed to boot from the internal hard drive. Gray Apple screen, spinning wheel and after a couple of minutes restart is all I get. What happened initially was the computer froze not allowing Safari to quit for restart. I had to manually shut down after all other means did not work (Force Quit, etc.). I have been able to get it to boot from an external Firewire drive running 10.4, but it will not recognize a USB drive, though the USB ports work for a printer and scanner. I was also able to get it to boot from a 10.5 Install DVD that came with my wife's MacBook. Since I bought this PowerBook used, it had no disks included, but did have 10.5 installed. The other thing is the lower RAM slot has not worked from the day I got it. When I run Disk Utility the drive checks out, though there were some Permission repairs. SMART checks verified. I seem to be able to access the internal disk when booted from the external. Reset PMU & PRAM, no difference. Should I try replacing the hard drive or do I have another issue here?

First up, PowerPC-based Macs can't boot up from a USB external drive (per se... there is a workaround and "hack"). Only Intel-based Macs can do that.
Second, since you say it works and boots up when connected to a FireWire external drive, I believe it is a hard drive issue. S.M.A.R.T. status is not ("not") always a reliable indicator from what I've heard. It may say it's verified, but really it's failing. By the same token, it may say failed, but really it's fine.
That is not always the case however. 95% of the time, S.M.A.R.T. status is highly accurate.
If you are so inclined, you can open up your PowerBook, take out the hard drive, and place a new one in there and see what happens. If it works, you're in business. And you only spent a $100 or less on a new drive (which you might end up needing anyway if your current drive is indeed broken).
(If your drive isn't broken, then you have a backup drive ).
If the new drive installed doesn't work, then it is a logic board issue or something else. But since you say it works fine and boots up from a Leopard install DVD, I think it may just be the hard drive. And a new logic board usually starts at $300 so think about that as well. (You could get a new used one for a bit more and sell that one for parts).

  • Apple iPod USB Device driver issue on Win XP - syncing shuffle 2nd gen.

Hello fellow iPod shuffle users. Any of you run into this problem using the following configurations? Any advise/recommendations/workarounds much appreciated as I've burned 3 days on this issue and I'm still stonewalled.
I personally think it's a device driver issue/bug and am searching for a way to update my Apple iPod USB device driver for Win XP. Two brand new ipod shuffles (received for Christmas 2008) are both behaving this way, so the problem most likely points to a global software issue more-so than to shuffle hardware issue.
PROBLEM STATEMENT: Driver data i/o streaming issue does not allow shuffle to sync data with iTunes after initial sync (i.e. reading the content of the shuffle is good, but writing modified content fails). Posted error message "The ipod ... cannot be synced. Required disk cannot be found". After cracking the hood on my device driver, the problem seems to point to the Apple iPod USB device driver for Win XP. Driver will recognize the shuffle and read to it, but subsequent write attempts will result in device driver balks that "this device cannot start (code 10)".
    ATTEMPTED WORKAROUNDS:
*Read All "How to Get Started Manuals" to make sure I was using the right technique for syncing my two shuffles from within iTunes... tried and failed
*Ensure only one shuffle was plugged in at a time (saw notice that two shuffles plugged in at the same time is not yet a supported config)... tried and failed
*The 5 R's as recommended by Apple Support... tried and failed.
*I've tried all 3 built in USB ports on my Lenovo T60. no love... tried and failed.
*Per discussion board: From Window's Device Manager-> Scaned for new hardware while shuffle was syncing...tried and failed.
    * Per Discussion board: From Window's Disk Management -> Ensured shuffle came up as a FAT32 filesystem... connection tore down as quickly as windows recognized it.... tried and failed.
*From Windows Software config utility: Ran repair to re-install itunes 8... same results.
*From Windows software management utility: Uninstalled and reinstalled itunes 8... same results.
Hardware: IBM Thinkpad/Lenovo T60. Using build in k/b & no external mouse. Has 3 USB built in ports.
Software: Windows XP Pro SP2/iTunes 8.0.2/shuffle (2nd gen) driver 1.0.4 (same behavior using the original driver 1.0.3).
    Apple iPod USB Device properties:
    Driver Provider - Microsoft
    Driver Date - 7/1/2001
    Driver Version - 5.1.2535.0
Digital Signer - Microsoft Windows Publisher

Hi. Ive got pretty much the same problem.... Got a new shuffle for christmas..having real problems syncing with itunes. Funnily enough I managed to get 25 tracks on it but then it just stopped. error message says " The ipod shuffle cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found." Ive done restore, and downloaded a reset utility thingy to try but still no joy.

  • R7770 / Win XP pro driver issue - directx not supported help please!

Hi guys sorry to bother you, and for such a long question.
I've just purchased a brand new MSI branded AMD radeon r7770 to replace my nvidia 8800gt graphics card which finally bit the dust last week.
Despite uninstalling the old nVidia drivers, trying the ones that came with the card and downloading and installing the very latest versions from both the AMD and MSI sites, I still cannot get directx to work. At first glance, the drivers look to be installed OK, (the Catalyst Control Center starts up etc) but none of my games run, and the desktop refresh is incredibly slow. KSP's crash log helpfully states that it cannot find the device driver. When I run Dxdiag.exe all the directx diagnostic tags are greyed out and the info box states that the card does not support directx.
The system is pretty ancient but should still be up to the task as it was a well speced gaming PC in its day:
Mboard: Asus P5K3 Deluxe (intel P35 chipset)
    CPU:      Intel core2duo Q6600 (quad-core)
mem:     4 gig Corsair ddr3 mem.
    PSW:     600W
    OS:      Win XP pro SP3
I'm aware that this is an old PCI-E 1.0 board and the card is designed around PCI-E 3.0, but the computer boots up and starts Windows just fine. Both the Bios and Windows detect the R7770 correctly. (I'd have thought if this was an issue - it wouldn't go past POST at all and begin beeping like crazy!)
To muddy the waters still further, as a experiment, I installed an old radeon card for test (a crappy Sapphire hd 2600 pro PCI-E version), which is about the same age as the rest of the system.
I couldn't find the drivers disk initally, so downloaded the relevant ones from Sapphire and AMD. Got EXACTLY the same problem as above: it looks as the drivers have installed but no Directx support (which is daft as I used to use that card games until I could afford to replace it with the 8800)
I tried everything I could think of for hours (including disabling driver signing security, stopping anti-virus software, trolling through the windows/ inf, System32 and System dirctories to weed out anything ATI - you name it) then miraculously found the old drivers for the HD 2600. Installed them with no probem at all - everything worked just as it should!
So, I looks to me like the XP drivers on the web are now garbage. Anyone else have similar problems or know of a workaround?
I'm not exactly rich so can't afford Win 7 or the dreaded Win 8  (which I loath) or a new PC, which is why i'm soldering on with this dinosaur!
The only thing I haven't done is splat Windows and do a clean install, do you think that'll help? If so why did the old radeon drivers work (win has been cleanly re-installed many a time since I last used that card, so there was no legacy junk lurcking in the windows diectory or it's registry)
Do you think I'd have better luck with NVidia? If so could you kindly recommend an alternative from them? I know an R7770 is a bit OTT for such an old system, but they are dirt cheap at the mo and not much more expensive than much less powerful cards.
Anyone have any thoughts about UBuntu? If it is a driver issue or there is no workaround, I may need to consider this route. Trouble is none of my legacy games will run on Linux and i'm not sure virtualization is available for my mboard.
Anyways, thanks for your time and for any suggestions you might make
    Regards
    Mike

Hi Flex, thanks for the quick reply and for the advice.
In the end i got it going by changing the boot.ini settings.
They were initially set with the /3GB /fastdetect switch to force the WinXp kernal to run in 1GB, and not take up 2GB as is it's default.
It was set that way to stop a 32bit game (KSP) crashing every 10 minutes or so, through lack of addressable memory.
All I did was simply set the boot.ini back to its default and directx sprung to life. I reset it back to 3GB to make sure it wasn't a fluke and as soon as I did, it killed directx again.
Maybe its a driver issue afterall - probably lack of proper XP support by AMD (This dosen't happen with the old- - 2008 vintage - version 4 ATI radeon drivers.) or perhaps its because the card has twice the memory over my old cards and therefore needs to access a higher portion of I/O allocation than is available in 32bit WinXP.
Its all a bit ironic really as i'm finding the R7770 runs like crap under dirx9 - i'm getting about 30% the frame rate of my old Nvida 8800GT and, as I can't use the 3GB switch anymore, it crashes every 5 mins or whenever I play any resource intensive game.
As the crashes are caused by lack of available address spaces under 32 bit systems, I've bitten the bullet and got 64bit Ubuntu. Got this working in the wee small hours last night - including the R7770 using the AMD catalyst drivers for Linux. Hopefully that will sort things out (and gimmie an excuse to learn a proper OS!)
Wish me luck i can see another "steep learning curve" on the horizon!
    Cheers
    Mike

@mha007. I was able to update to version 10.0.1 via Help > About Firefox. Like John99 says it was updated a couple of days ago. However, the problem of WebGL and GPU still remains. I have asked my system supplier to check the same.
@zerofire. I have always built my computer and 'am a great fan of AMD. I hate Intel's blue Death Signs. We here in India do not like anything automated on our PC other than antivirus and antimalware along with pre-scheduled running of CCleaner and Defraggler. Once in a while I run CCleaner's Registry Cleaner. Even Windows Security Alerts are turned off. Windows XP and SP2 for PC and Windows 2000 for server are the most used. Not interested in SP3 or Vista as the transcription work I do requires me to just have XP or SP2. May later add on Windows 7 via dual booting.

  • Several Hard Drive Issues

    Hello everyone!
Nice to be back in the Mac Community! I have several old hard drives I am trying to dump the data from and reformat them but I am having issues with every single one. I am using a Vantec NexStar Universal Storage Adapter found here:
    http://www.vantecusa.com/en/product/view_detail/393
It seems to work, so I don't believe the issue is the device.
The hard Drives I am trying to access are:
Western Digital Caviar 36400 - AT Compatible Intelligent Hard Drvie  - 6448.6 MB Hard Drive
    MDL : AC36400-00LC
This drive is seen by Disk Utility and Test Disk via Terminal but I get an error when trying to format.
All other drives I get a
AppleUSBCDC: start - initDevice failed error
in console when I connect via USB.
    These drives are:
Hitachi Model DK23EA-40 40 GB 2.5" IDE Disk Drive
Western Digital WD Caviar WD300 MDL: WD300BB-00AUA1 30 GB IDE Hard Drive
IBM Model DTTA-351290 12GB 3.5 inch IDE ATA Hard Drive
Samsung Model: HD501LJ 500GB Hard Drive
All of these produce the AppleUSBCDC error. Any advice on how to make sure there is nothing on theses drives and getting them formatted to use?
    Thanks!

That could very well be the possibility. Bad PCBs could be the issue, although again I would be suprised considering these are all drives of different ages. And since there really isnt any more damage than not being able to get files off them, I am happy to use them as learning experiences and do just about whatever it takes to try and recover them.
I had the same experience with two different laptops, my sister's compaq and my macbook pro, both of which had the bad NVIDIA chipset. I baked my sister's compaq motherboard in the oven @ 375 for 7 min 45 secs and then pressed down on it with a towel while it cooled, reassembled and booted right up! So I figure what the hey! I'll see what I can do with these drives. So maybe swapping out the PCB board from a verified working drive?

  • MSI GTX 760 Driver Issues

    Hi there,
I've recently been having issues with my GeForce GTX 760 Twin Frozr Gaming edition OC. The problem arose after a windows update, and since then I've had major driver issues with the card. The card simply does not work with drivers installed, only working if I uninstall the drivers and use the firmware on the card. I attempted a system restore to the point before the update, re-installing the card and a multitude of different drivers (The ones that came with the card, Msi website, Nvidia website etc) and I always have the same problem. I have since formatted my hard drive and installed windows 8.1 on an ssd, which didn't fix the problem. I am currently using the onboard Graphics, specs are as follows:
    Mobo: MSI Z87-G43
GFX Card: MSI GTX 760 Twin Frozr gaming OC
    PSU: Corsair TX650m
    CPU: Intel Core I5 4670K at 3.4ghz
    HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1tb 7200Rpm
Samsung 840 Evo 120Gb (Os is installed here)
OS: The problem arose on Windows 7 64bit Professional and continued ont Windows 8.1 enterprise (Currently in use)
The system worked with no problems for months and only arose recently and I'd be happy to provide more information. Thank you for reading and any recommendations would be most appreciated,
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Johnny.

You don't need to uninstall the drivers of the Intel HD. Remove nvdia drivers in safemode using >>Driver Fusion<< and simply reboot with the GTX760 installed and the INtel driver not removed. Install latest vga driver: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/71704/en-us
If still issues try the card in the Gen2  slot of your board.
I didnt explain it well, Id uninstall the nvidia drivers using my intel gfx, but when I reinstalled the drivers on my gfx card was when I had issues. The card worked fine off its firmware (I didn't try any games) but any driver installation messed it up
