  • C3560G - SNMP MIB Support for QOS Port Trust

I've been digging through Cisco's SNMP Object Navigator without any luck, so I'm turning to the masses to see if someone has an answer.
I'd like to know if there is a supported MIB on the C3560G platform (for any IOS version) that will report the QOS port trust state on a given switchport. Although not necessary for my current needs, it would be nice if there was a way to report the other fields produced by the "show mls qos interface" IOS command.
    Thanks!
    -- John

    Vinod,
Thank you for your response. I was already aware of the CISCO-PORT-QOS-MIB (supported by the 3560G) and CISCO-SWITCH-QOS-MIB (not supported by the 3560G) MIBs. After reviewing the CISCO-CLASS-BASED-QOS-MIB (supported by the 3560G), I see no specific OID that would retrieve the information I require as it mainly pertains to the MQC.
I found two OIDs that appear to represent the data I'm trying to collect. The first one is csqIfTrustState from the CISCO-SWITCH-QOS-MIB. Unfortunately this appears to be supported only on the 6500/7600 devices. The second one is caqIfOperTrustState from the CISCO-CATOS-ACL-QOS-MIB, which is a legacy MIB for the old CATOS software.
Please let me know if I overlooked a specific OID from the MIBs you pointed out or if there are any alternatives you can think of. Thanks!

  • S-Video port and importing from VHS

Where can get an s.-video adapter to my iMac... The point is I wanted to imported directly from an VHS reader to my iMac, converting the image to digital (I guess...)
Is it possible, I really want to get rid of old VHs without having to connect it first to the digital camera.
    Regardsssss
    CV

    catarina,
I would be weary before buying an s-video adapter. i've never heard of one but if they exist i assume that they connecto to the DVI port. this adapter and the DVI should both allow for INPUT, i've never used the DVI so i'm not sure if it's both in/out. also: depending on what program you use, IF you also want audio with your movie, it's not going to work with iMovie,iMovie imports everything that has ALREADY been digitized through the firewire, and if you used an S-vid, you wouldn't be able to import the sound through the optical(AKA audio) port. trust me, i;ve tried sending only video from camera to firewire and sound through optical, it doesnt work. MAYBE this is different for FINAL CUT PRO, but im not sure.
Finally, there's a factor that i'm not certain about but it is an educated hypothesis:
the computer itself is not the component that actually digitizes, it only receives the digital information and inputs it into the hard drive. when i use a digital camcorder as a passthrough from my 8mm deck, it's the camera that does the actual conversion, not the computer, the camcorder exports that already digitized info to the iMac. so i;m not sure if just an s-VIDEO "converter" is up for the task.

  • OGG DIRECTOR ,CAN'T MONITOR THE GG INSTANCE ON A REMOTE COMPUTER

I login into the oracle goldengate director administrator tool, and set a datasource for a gg instance on a remote computers. The manger port is 7809,I click the "check connection" button,it shows the connections was successful. But if I want to monitor this datasource status on the "monitor agent" page,it shows:
"monitor active" is" true", but the "manager is alive" is "N/A".On the remote computer, the windows firewall is working, and the port 7809 is set to can be permitted. If I shutdown the firewall on the remote computer, the "manager is alive" shows 'true'.But closing the firewall is a very dangerouse thing. What can I do?Does the ogg directore needs another port to be opened except port 7809?

You mean turn off the firewall is a dangerous thing, not closing. The Manager IP address and port number are the only required parameters required for Director Server to connect to the GGSCI instances. You need to have 7809 (or whatever port you're using for the Manager) open. Are you on Linux for the instances? The port can be opened using iptables. Here is an example of how to do that:

  • QoS trust dscp or cos on catalyst 4500

We have a 4510R with Cisco IOS Software, IOS-XE Software, Catalyst 4500 L3 Switch Software cat4500e-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 03.05.02.E RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1).
I want use qos trust dscp or qos trust cos on the interface conected to other cisco switch or wlan controller.
The current IOS version, do not support qos trust dscp:
    SW(config)#interface gi10/16
    SW(config-if)#qos tr
    SW(config-if)#qos trust ?
      device  trusted device class
extend  Extend trust through a connected device
    SW(config-if)#qos trust device ?
      cisco-phone   Cisco IP Phone
      cts           Cisco-telepresence
      ip-camera     Cisco video surveillance camera
      media-player  Cisco Digital Media Player
    SW(config-if)#qos trust device
What is the software that I need for this?. I tried with command lookup tool but the cat4500 do not appears.

That is even new for me.
I did a search and found that, now a days you no longer have to provide the Trust DSCP command, it is by default trusted.
Went through this White Paper and excerpts are below:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/catalyst-4500-series-switches/white_paper_c11-539588.html
The answer to your question comes from the following excerpt :-
"Previously supervisor engines relied on “port trust” to classify traffic; however, this does not fall into the MQC CLI construct. MQC provides a more flexible capability, i.e. all traffic is trusted by default, an administrator can change this trust state using a policy map. Another difference is the “internal DSCP” value used within the switch to place packets in the proper queue.
Cisco Catalyst 4500E Supervisor Engines do not use “internal DSCP”; rather, it relies on explicit matching of QoS values using class maps so that packets can be placed in the correct queue.
Also, note that there is no specific priority queue: it is not queue 3 or queue 1. The priority queue is simply configured within a class; therefore, it is not tied to a specific queue. One final difference is that of classification. Cisco Catalyst 4500E Supervisor Engines provide sequential classification rather than parallel. This allows the network administrator to classify traffic at egress based on the ingress markings. These markings can be done unconditionally, using a policer or using a table map. Based on these changes, QoS CLI will now be more contiguous on the Supervisor Engines as it will now have standard Cisco MQC CLI, making configuration management much simpler"

  • 10 gig iSCSI port in MDS 9509

    Hi all,
I have a requirement of 128 port SAN switch (Director class)
    -          15 ports should be iSCSI 10g
    -          Rest 113 port should be 8 Gbps FC
I am planning to go with two DS-X9248-96K9 module and one DS-X9224-96K9 to meet 120 ports. But I didnt find any 10 gig iSCSI port which is suported in 9509/9506 chassis. Can you please suggest? I can see only GE modules like DS-X9316-SSNK9.
Also please suggest whether we get line speed in 48-Port 8-Gbps  Fibre Channel Switching Modules?
    Thanks in advance,
          Raghavendra

Correct...the key is that the 48 port line card has the 96 in the p/n.  That indicates is it a performance module and has the 6 port groups.  There is also what is called a 48 port 8 gig host optimized line card.  That one only has 4 groups of 12, in which 1 of those (4 total) can operate in 8gig mode.
The 24 port line card has 8 groups of 3 port...and 1 of those (8 total) can operate in 8 gig mode.
As for the 10 gig iSCSI ports on the MDS...that will probaly not be a feature that the MDS will ever adopt.  The MDS is an iSCSI gateway, where by iSCSI initiator can access a native FC target.  With the advent of more and more natice iSCSI targets, and the move to 10GE, the Nexus 5K is the swtich to use.  It can host iSCSI targets and initiators and provide 10GE for both.  The MDS is not a 10GE switch.
    -hope this helps,
    Mike

  • Local Director and BPDU's

I am running BPDU guard on my switches. When I plug in my local director I the port is being shut down due to receiving a BPDU packet from that port. Does the Local Director run spanning tree? Does the local director generate BPDU's? If not, why is this happening?

The LD is a bridge but does not participate in spanning tree - it will pass BPDUs transparently. Try turning off portfast on ports connected to the LD.
Another option is a to use the command "set spantree portfast bpdu-filter enable". This command was introduced in 6.2.x code.

  • Upgrading old code

My small company (Academic Software, Inc.) has a few educational games designed (and fairly popular) for very young (or developmentally young) children with severe disabilities. These were produced with Director 7 for Mac and for PC and I recall writing these almost entirely in Lingo. We have distributed these for years but now they are becoming (or already are) legacy products. All I want to do is upgrade these through versions 8, 9, 10, .. up to 12. Maybe they might require a few edits along the way. But the goal is just to recompile these into packages that will run on modern computers. Not to write new games or other software for distribution. How can I do this cheaply, maybe in the cloud?
I mean to say that I really do not want to have to buy full (legacy) versions of Director for Mac and for PC - again - in order to transition this software. Besides, I think, the current version of Director won't even read files this far back in history! These games, I believe, were originally created using Director 3 and ported up to their current Director 7 release versions. Before that we had versions in C/C+ .. but Director was slicker and ran better on all machines .. back then anyway.
I hope this is the right forum. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

    Hi AJ,
Sorry, for not replying sooner. There should no code changes be needed. But testing is of course always necessary. Maybe if you use excessive embedded java or custom xpath functions then you should review your code. But even embedded java should recompile in most cases.
If you have a large project-base, with many bpel projects, and if you use a deployment framework, you need to rebuild that. Since the deployment scripts for 10g will not work with 11g.
If you have many cases in which you have bpel processes calling eachother, you need to create abstract wsdl's and place them into the mds. Then in the composite.xml's you should change the ui-wsdl-locations to refer to the respective wsdl's in the mds. This is because you can't rely on the startup order of the composites.

  • Best Practice - WAP connecting switchport configuration.

Is there a best practice for deploying the WAP's in a WAP/WLC infrastructure?  Should the connecting switchport be an Access port or a Trunk port?  I've seen this implemented in both fashions and wasn't sure if one was a better choice than the order.  What is the difference?
My other question is regarding applying additional switchport configurations.  Is there anything wrong with applying either spanning-tree portfast, spanning-tree bpdguard, or switchport port-security.

    Hi Ken,
Access port all the time, everywhere, UNLESS the AP is configured for HREAP/FLEX then trunk. Or if you deploy a AP in monitor mode then TRUNK.
QOS -- if its access port trust dscp. If you truck trust cos.
No you are fine. Portfast is highly recommended.

  • How to authenticate external and internal users on different AD

What is the recommended way to authenticate external users as well as internal employees in a customer facing application?
We have external users in an Active Directory in the DMZ and our employees in our internal DMZ.  Unfortunately we don't have an identity management system in place and wondering if there is a way we could authenticate user against two active directories without creating a trust between them.
    We are implementing EP7.0
    Thanks in Advance.

You can also use user partitioning. A feature of the UME which allows for having different user persistence options for different users. What you could do in this case have the external user stored in the local db or an LDAP for the external users and the internal users stored in an internal LDAP directory. • WLC 5508, Prime Infrastructure, 7921 phones and QoS

    Hi everybody!
I have deployed about 50 wireless cisco phones int the network with 27 APs with the WLC 5508.
I'm trying to investigate phones behaviour (I have some loss of audio).
And I use Prime Infrastructure for monitoring.
I run the Voice Diagnostic on the selected two phones.
and in the Charts I see the next:
    1. for one phone "Downlink AC Queue Usage" shows all the traffic of "voice packets". but "Uplink AC Queue Usage" shows all the traffic of the "Best efforts packets".
    2. for the second phone "Downlink AC Queue Usage" shows all the traffic of "Best efforts packets". and "Uplink AC Queue Usage" shows all the traffic of the "Video packets".
that is strange, very strange. the WLAN of these phones uses platinum QoS. none of other WLANs uses "gold" QoS.
does this mean I have a QoS misconfiguration?
where may the failure be? WLC? switches? router?
    please, any suggestions...

I noticed few misconfigurations as per your response
    1. Are you configured AP as FlexConnect ?  If not AP connected switchport should be configured as ACCESS port & trust DSCP. If it is configured as FlexConnect, then you can configure switchport as turnk & in that case you  have to trust CoS using "mls qos trusct cos" command.
    2. WLC connected trunk ports always to be configured to trust CoS not DSCP. Otherwise WLC set QoS value ignored by your switch.
    3. If you WLAN is set for Platinum then you have to configure Platinum QoS profile for 802.1p & set value as 6.
I would suggest you to verify QoS value preserve across you switch network. You have to take some wireshark packet caputres (as shown in my reference link) and make sure your voice packet DSCP goes into rest of your network as EF. You need to do this for upstream & downstream (from 7921 perspective) traffic. Here is the traffic flow if AP connected to switchport 1 & WLC connnected to switchport 2.
    7921 <-> AP <-> Switch port 1 <->  Switchport 2 <->  WLC <-> Switchport2 <-> Rest of your network
Once you do this, then you can go to Prime & check those charts to reflect QoS values correctly. Otherwise you do not know where these QoS value get stripped/or modified in your network.

  • New Package: Arno's iptables firewall scripts

I made a PKGBUILD for Arno IPTABLES firewall script. This script has protected my home network for long time and I realized that some other Archers would also like to use it. Also, syslog-ng.conf example is included to get iptable logs into their own log file.
Script has clear, easy and well commented configuration file. Nice list of
    Features
    Very secure stateful filtering firewall
    Both kernel 2.4 & 2.6 support
It can be used for both single- and multi(eg. dual)-homed boxes
    Masquerading (NAT) and SNAT support
    Multiple external (internet) interfaces
Support multiroute NAT & SNAT (load balancing over multiple (internet) interfaces)
    Port forwarding (NAT)
    Support MAC address filtering
    Support for DSL/ADSL modems
Support for PPPoE, PPPoA and bridging modem setups
Support for static and ISP assigned (DHCP) IPs
    Support for (transparent) proxies
Full support for DMZ's and DMZ-2-LAN forwarding. You can also use it to isolate your eg. wireless LAN.
    (Nmap)(stealth) portscan detection
    Protection against SYN-flooding (DoS attacks)
    Protection against ICMP-flooding (DoS attacks)
Extensive user-definable logging with rate limiting to prevent log flooding
Includes options to optimize your throughput
User definable open ports, closed ports, trusted hosts, blocked hosts etc.
Log & protection options are both highly customizable
Support for custom iptables rules in a seperate file
It can be used with chkconfig runlevel system (eg. RedHat/Fedora)
Main focus on TCP/UDP/ICMP but additional support for *ALL* IP protocols
It works with Freeswan IPSEC (VPN) & SSH Sentinel (http://www.freeswan.org) (+virtual IP's)
It works with PoPTop PPTP (http://www.poptop.org)
    It works with UPnP
    DRDOS protection/detection (experimental)
    It's easy to configure
    And much more...
(edit) PKGBUILD is in the AUR.
This is my first package ever so tell me what to fix. I will put this to AUR if supported and this really works.

    1c3d0g wrote:
    Is this similar to QuickTables?
    http://qtables.radom.org/
Arno's iptables has a config file that will be edited as needed and script reads the config file everytime it is executed.
I can put this pkgbuild to AUR. The init script is not Arch like. I decided to use Arno's script as is in /etc/rc.d/ because I want to see what happens. I could do a Arch type of init script that executes the firewall script arch way.
    What do you think?

  • Export sales process

Hello, I have configured a export sales process for my client. But they are asking me to modify it in such a way that, in smartform they want all the loading and unloading details. For ex, they are creating sales order and loading goods at bangalore and sending to cochin port by TRUCK, there goods get unloaded and from there they load again to container to ship. Then it is sent to the destination country. How to configure this about unloading at port and again loading from port.
Also please mention the steps to be taken for executing export sales process.
    Thanks in Advance..

    Hi,
In your case apart from the exports process as there is involvement of Transportation activity, we need to determine through which route the goods are sent and how the loading and unloading is taking place. So please configure for route determination referring to following links:
