Dying at Start up

My computer dies at start up. I get the gray screen, the ticker ticks, computer makes it's usual sounds, then bam 2 seconds of silence and my computer shuts completely off. I tried a lot of stuff (apple, otion, P R), (apple option O F), safe boot, starting from the install cd, starting from hardware diganostics. Nothing works. Does anybody have any advice for what I am maybe doing wrong. Once I am up it works fine. It's only during start up, so I am wondering (hoping, praying) that it is software related and not hardware related.
Lots and lots of good kharma will come to whoever helps me out on this one.

Okay, so it continues. I ran disk utility, techtools, etc. Every thing checked out okay - hardware and software. But will boot up maybe one out of 20 times. Right before it goes from the gray screen to the blue screen it dies. Kerplunk....
Does any wise person have any advice?

Es scheint, als ob sich mehr als ein Mac mit dem Namen "Andreas iMac" im Netzwerk befindet. Unter Systemeinstellungen > Freigaben kannst Du einen neuen Gerätenamen für den Mac vergeben.

Die originale Start CD für Mac OSx 19.6.x

Ich brauche eine Start CD 10.6.x / es liegen alle Fonds des System Fond Ordner im Papierkorb, daher kann ich den Mac nicht mehr starten.

IPad first gen 3g, battery died, wont start

I have been happily using my iPad first gen since i got it when the iPad 3g launched. Every night i would put it on the charger, but recently i went back vacation and didnt charge it for a week. When i got home my iPad was dead, so i placed it on the charger. It shows the charger connecting, the symbol on the face turns to the lightning bolt with a flashing red empty battery. After sitting like this for four hours, it still refuses to boot up. This is the exact same charger i have used for years, and i have tried pressing the home and lock button to force a restart (after about 6 seconds it just turns off). No idea whats wrong, hoping he isnt dead because i cannot afford a new one =(

Check that your cable is in good working order and that you are using the appropriate charger. The iPad required a 10W charger, not the 5W that comes with an iPhone. Most other third-party chargers not SPECIFICALLY stated to be for iPad will charge, but very slowly.
Also, you should;t let the battery drain completely before charging it. You can do that maybe once per month, but repeatedly doing this is not good for Li-ion batteries. Follow Apple's recommendations for battery care and you should be ok. https://www.apple.com/batteries/ipad.html

Try charing it to 50% at least.
If all else fails, try putting it in DFU mode. Connect it to iTunes, (iTunes may not detect the device, but that's ok) hold the power and home buttons down for 10 seconds, then release the power button but keep holding the home button until it goes into DFU mode. iTunes should detect it and ask for a restore.

Close all your dashboard widgets. The problem will then disapear.
You'll have to to a bit of trial and error to see which one it is. Some have said the iTunes widget is the culprit, while other blame the lyrics widget. Sometimes the widget just needs to be quit and relaunched, for others it has needed to be updated.

mit den Forumsbeschreibungen konnte ich nicht filtern, wo meine Anfrage am geeignetsten wäre - ich versuche es hier.
Mein Anliegen: Beim Besuch des Forums auf www.dvdboard.de mit dem IE startet immer automatisch meine Acrobat.exe. Wenn ich einen Thread anklicke startet darüberhinaus 2x (unter dem Process Acrobat.exe) Adobelm_Cleanup.0001. Ein Löschen der selbstanlegenden Dateien cleanup im Temp-Ordner bringen keinen Erfolg.
Der Prozess-Explorer (von Sysinternals) zeigt unter Company Name an, dass Adobelm_Cleanup.0001 von Macrovision Europe Ltd. als weiterer Prozess der Acrobat.exe gestartet wird.
Die automatischen Starts wie vorhin beschrieben geschehen nur beim Besuch o.a. Forums. Anfragen in o.a. Forum können nicht beantwortet werden. Weitere Besucher des o.a. Forums beobachten ebenfalls das gleiche Verhalten ausschließlich bei Besuch des Forums.
Ein Scan/Bearbeiten mit AdAware bringt keinen Erfolg.
-Wie kann ich das nervende automatische Starten der Acrobat.exe abstellen ohne bei den Diensten zu manipulieren.
- In welchem Zusammenhang steht der automatische Start von Adobelm_Cleanup.0001?
Ich nutze WinXP Version 2002 mit SP2 - letztes Update für mein BS vor ca. 40 Tagen. IE nutze ich in der Version v6.0.2.2900.2180 (sp2).
Acrobat nutze ich in der Version 7.0.5
Mit Firefox in der Version 1.5 (nur Grundinstallation - keine weiteren PlugIns und Einstellungen geladen) gibt es diese automatischen Start nicht.

Start der Datendatei triggern?

für unsere Messaufgabe habe ich eine Datei mit Kanalinhalten,die beim
Versuch eine linear ansteigende Ausgangsspannung generieren
sollen,erzeugt.Wenn ich nun die Messung starte,beginnt auch der Ablauf
der Datei ,wie kann dies verhindert werden?Wie kann ich die Datei zu
jedem beliebigen Zeitpunkt starten?

Man kann dien Messdatei-Block auch triggern. Z.B. mit nem Taster. (see attached file)

Ich kann Videos nicht aufrufen, da nach dem start nur schwarzer bildshirm kommt

Immer wenn ich mir videos angucken will(also die app starte). Dann kommt nur schwarzer bildschirm. Ich habe auch schon alles Probiert, wiederhergestellt, neu gestartet, aber nichts hilft
Es sind auch filme dabei, die ich mir bei itunes gekauft habe und auf itunes aufgerufen werden können.

Ich hatte heute das selbe Problem. Folgendes hat geholfen (die Lösung stammt nicht von mir, sondern von Trick77.com):
Die Spotlightsuche aufrufen (links vom Homescreen) und einen Film, der am iPad gespeichert ist und von dem man den Namen kennt, suchen. Anschliessend direkt aus den Spotlightsuchergebnissen starten.
Bei mir hat dann der Film gestartet und die App wieder wie normal funktioniert.

Probleme was die Installation auf der gewünschten Festplatte angeht.

Ich habe folgendes Problem:
Ich besitze 2 Festplatten. Festplatte C: ist voll, darum würde ich After Effects gerne auf der Festplatte D: installieren. Doch wenn ich die Installation starte, versucht die App sich sofort auf der Festplatte C: zu installieren und da diese wie gesagt bereits voll ist, habe ich jedesmal dort stehen das ein Fehler aufgetreten ist, da meine Festplatte voll ist. Was tun?

Macbook pro hard drive apple claimed 'failed', has changed it's tune. BUT....

This is a very looooong story, but here's the short version of it (I swear). I can add more details as needed. And there is definitely a question at the end.
And I should preface this by saying I am a novice computer user, and really don't understand how hard drives, or permissions, or any of that stuff works.
1. Two weeks ago my mid 2011 17" top-of-the-line macbook pro wouldn't wake from sleep upon opening from clamshell mode (familiar story to many)
2. Did a hard shut down using power button
3. Powered back up and got spinny rainbow no matter what I clicked. Took 10 minutes for any single action to respond, even opening text edit.
4. Could not force quit, could not restart, system eventually froze
5. Did another hard shut down
6. System would then NOT boot normally
7. Booting in safe mode showed invalid node errors
8. Was able to get the OS to work, was preparing to do a backup, and in a "smack my head later" move, I closed the lid not thinking, when I went to the other room to get something to drink (had I know what was to come, that drink would have been a double gin & tonic). MBP not wake up again. Again- hard shut down.
9. This time would not boot at all- even in safe mode, even running repair disk permissions on screen while booting. Would get to the end of booting and just die- not start, not finish, nothing.
10. Brought to apple genius bar. They confirmed the hard drive had failed. They replaced hard drive for free (with the exact same model and make of drive!! TOSHIBA MK7559GSFX. Thanks for instilling more confidence apple!!)
11. I brought my failed drive home and swapped it out with the drive in my 2008 15" macbook pro, which is where it has been living since then.
12. Fired it up in target disk mode with my iMac, and the drive never appeared as an external drive/device. Tried this multiple times after multiple restarts
13. Booted the 15" mbp to Lion's 'over the air' recovery, and was able to get disk utility open that way
14. Will NOT boot from the drive (get the apple logo, the spinny circle and the bar that never progresses, no matter how many hours/days I leave it for)
In the past week I have:
used DiskWarrior (says drive is damaged and can't be repaired)
used Data Rescue 3 (which I was getting error messages with too but now is telling me it can't do anything because the drive is the bootable drive, and not an external (presumably because it's in the machine?)
In Disk Utility I have verified permissions, repaired permissions, verified disk and repaired disk. They all report errors, including repair disk, which tells me the drive is damaged and can't be repaired. (I get it, I have a bad hardware problem)
booted from Lion-installed external travel drive, to try and have the drive be recognized
attempted to run Drive Genuis 3 with no success
attempted to create a new image using both disk utility and one of my software programs (don't remember which) with no success
attempted to restore disk image using disk utiltity with no success
am now running Stellar Phoenix 'recover lost volumes' with what appears to be success- it has found 5 lost volumes, but appears to be only 1/15th of the way done after about 24 hours. I'll let it run intil it's done- however long that may be. I have no idea what happens when it ends.
Now, here is where the story gets interesting.
For 5 days the drive would not only not boot, but it wouldn't mount either. It just didn't exist. There was no information on the drive in disk utility, and I couldn't access it no matter what mode I chose.
BUT THEN, sometime shortly after hitting 'repair disk' about 12 times (getting failure messages each time), it mounted. Wahoo!
Not only did it mount, but it has been mounting reliablibly each time after many restarts, using an external drive loaded with Lion as the boot drive.
AND, now the drive's S.M.A.R.T. status says it's verified- both on the main Toshiba drive and the volume that contains my user account. It also shows the correct GB of data on the volume: 316.73 GB.
I can also run verfiy permissions, which completed successfully.
AND, I was able to click on the volume name (Louise. My iMac's name is Thelma. They work great together, LOL), and see the contents on the drive!
First, when I opened the applications folder, it showed it as empty. But then I left it alone for about 5-10 minutes, and suddenly all of my apps appeared in the folder. Awesome!! There were a few in there I didn't have on my iMac, and didn't purchase through the app store, so I backed those up right away to another external hard drive I had plugged in.
This was surprising and encouraging until I got to my user folder- 'jamie'.
I opened it and it too shows as being empty. Zero kb. Left it alone for a long time, but sadly no files appeared. This was a few days ago- still no files appearing.
To make this clear- my main user folder- called 'jamie'- says 'zero kb', 0 items. This is the folder that houses all of my documents and image files.
BUT, disk utility, and Stellar Phoenix, and Drive Genuis 3 all are reading 'Louise' and telling me the data is there- 316.73 GB worth. I just can't see it.
So I realized this may be a problem with permissions because I am using a new- different- user account. I was also thinking that if I could show hidden files, I might be able to see something in the folder that might help. So I downloaded TinkerTool and selected 'show hidden and system files'. No dice, still empty. Then I right-clicked on my user folder to get info and under 'sharing and permissions', the users, and the settings at the bottom are greyed out and I can't change anything.
In system preferences, the user for the failed drive does not show at all, and when I try to add it by using the same name and password, it tells me the user already exists.
Now I'm stumped. I feel like I've made progress and am getting close to getting the contents, but not sure what to do next, or if I'm fighting a losing battle.
Here is what I am doing now:
I am going to let Stellar Phoenix finish finding lost volumes, because it's the only app that seems to be doing anything.
I purchased an external drive enclosure from amazon (this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00655YT9C/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00), which I will be receiving on Monday.
I'll pull the drive out of the 15" mbp and put it in the new external enclosure and will then try to run Data Recovery 3 on the drive
If that's unsuccessful, I'll try DiskWarrior again, and/or maybe one of the other software programs
And then if those don't work I guess I'm done.
Based on the information I provided, do I indeed have a failed hard drive, and will NOT be able to recover the contents of my drive, and am SOL and am just wasting my own time?
Or is there a way I can get the files in my user account to show?
I wanted to provide all of the backstory on this first, instead of just saying "user folder empty" in case the backstory helps someone know what's going on.
Anyone want a crack at this? I can upload screen grabs if that helps. Insight? Suggestions? Ideas? Thank you in advance!!

BTW: about backing up. I am diligent about backing up and always have redundant backups of everything (I'm a professional photographer). I DID have my mbp fully backed up via Time Machine to an external drive, but due to my iMac ALSO failing recently and needing repair work, I had to wipe the drive clean and do a full backup of my iMac, which filled the last drive I had left, because I also recently purchased a Canon 5D Mark III, which produces insanely huge RAW files which helped completely fill a single drive I had used to back up both the iMac and mbp. Couple that with writing a book under deadline for a major publisher and not having time to research or purchase another drive, and a failing macbook pro drive a short time later and it was the perfect storm- a total cluster.
(Also, tried Data Rescue 3 on the external drive that DID have the mbp backup on it and was unsuccessful).
The good news is, since the hard drive was less than a year old when it failed (again, thanks Apple!), and it was all mirrored content to my iMac to begin with, (most of which I would pass over to the iMac whenever I had the chance), only about 15% of the data on this failed drive is data I don't have on my iMac. Unfortunately it's all documents- word docs, pages docs, text docs, excel docs, that can't be recreated, including, what I think is the funniest blog post I've ever written. Sigh...... No client work or images thank god, But still. I really want it back.

u can give try to using external enclosre and backup ur files. I hope u will get files back. or using external enclosre with ur hdd boot into Linux and try to mount ur harddisk.

Can't customize track information on Itunes 11.01

This might take awhile. A month ago, I purchased a new MBP which is running Itunes 11.01. So, I had to redo all of my playlists. I have well over a million different audio files/music tracks. I download A LOT of live music from different artists. Some of it gets vey involved and I like to put all the information I can into the track, so often after a track's title, I will add the date and sometimes where the track was recorded if relevant to me. I'm very thorough.
When I first opened this new Itunes (I really HATE the interface and esign of it comapred to the old version 10 I had on my old Macbook which died), I started to move files in and saw that some of the information I had personally added to the tracks was not there. NO biggie. I started to re-customize them and it all seemed fine UNTIL, I woud remove them from the playlist and then try to put them back in, then all of the preferences I added were gone and it looked blank again.
It might be hard to understand but I am really anal about my music and want to be able to see the information when I want. I need to know it's there. Just a tick of mine.
So, can anyone tell or show me, how i to allow this version of Itunes to let me customize the tracks I want and to leave them that way? It's not saving th extra info I put on each track and I can't find anyhting to help me in the settings folder.

hey, what system are you using? I use Windows Media Player. If you use that, put the CD in your drive.
then play a song
at the bottom corner of your screen, there should be a musical note
then above the note (just a bit) there should be a link for you to click
it says edit album info or something along those lines
click it and edit your song info

Thin Installer SCCM 2012 Win 8.1

Ich habe ein Problem mit der Nutzung des Thin Installers, genauer mit der Tasksequenz und den drei (soweit ich weiß) nötigen Vorgängen, um das Treiber Repository als vertrauenswürdig einzustufen, den Thin Installer auf dem Client zu installieren und auszuführen.
Leider gibt mir der SCCM immer folgende Fehlermeldung aus, sobald ich die Sequenz starte:

Der Treiberordner ist freigegeben, das aktuelle Framwork wird verwendet und die Adressierungen sind ebenfalls korrekt.
Kann mir jemand weiterhelfen und vermuten oder bestimmen wo sich der Fehler verbirgt?

hier die Antwort;
Kind of hard to tell exactly what is happening here. But it seems to me that there is an access issue for Thin Installer when it tries to update its updates.ser file.
The updates.ser file is a kind of database file where Thin Installer keeps track of some information on the updates it has processed. I'm wondering if Thin Installer is being executed from a location where the process does not have access rights to modify this file. Sometimes people try to run Thin Installer from a network share. In order to do this there are several security policy settings that have to be made. Usually Thin Installer is copied to the target devices and run locally to avoid this.
Also make sure that the set of Thin Installer files they are using does not already contain an updates.ser file from some other run. Usually the customers I work with will have a task that copies the Thin Installer set of files to the target machine from a network share. They should make sure those source files do not include an old updates.ser. If it does they can simply delete it. I'm wondering if perhaps an old one is there with references to updates that don't actually exist and that's why its having a problem.

I've tried doing that with no results. Same screen keeps showing. Maybe it'd be more helpful if I told you a bit more info. My phone was randomly playing music, and the voice control would also suddenly start without me touching the phone. Then I let the battery die and started to recharge when on the screen it indicated to plug into my computer/iTunes, I tried to restore but was getting an error message (can't remember what it said now). Battery died and now my current issue of the black screen with white apple. I'd love to be able to restore my phone but now its not showing as a device on my iTunes. HELP! Any other suggestions?
