It's not ruined.
You can always disconnect and reconnect to your PC, run the BlackBerry Desktop Software and you should be given a message to update or repair... update and make certain you keep your internet connect live during the process.
Make sure your PlayBook battery is charged.

I cant download my photos from my iPhone4 to my PC. Can anyone here help. Tku.

Importing photos/videos from the iPhone's Camera Roll has nothing to do with iTunes. Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.
If you have a Mac, you can use iPhoto or the Image Capture application for this.
If you have a Windows PC, you can use the Windoze Scanner and Camera Wizard.

  • PLEASE Help!! I'm dying here!

    All,
I'm having a problem with AE, and I've spend hours upon hours workng on it. I'm a student who spent YEARS saving up for this program, and yet I'm getting no love from other online forums ro Google searches. This is my best hope, so here goes. I'm running a Mac OS X, 10.6.8.
About 6 months ago, I added some new fonts to my computer (Mac Book Pro 15inch). There appeared to be no problem, and all of my programs worked correctly- I frequently used those fonts on AE.
I recently bought Microsoft Office, however, and that program crashed whenever I tried to install it. So, I went to Microsoft for Mac support. They told me that I had faulty fonts, and showed me, through "Font Book" how to deactivate my fonts. I deleted the bad fonts, and Word worked fine. (I still have some fonts that "may be in error" but all "faulty" fonts are gone.)
But, when I tried to open AE, it wouldn't. Always crashes. I always get the error message "After Effects can’t continue: unexpected failure during application startup." No other information is given. Every other Adobe product that I have tried works fine- although the AE Render Engine won't open, either.
Solutions that I have already tried:
    - Putting all of the bad fonts back in place. I'd much rather have AE than Word, if it comes down to it. No change; now neither program works.
    - Deleting all of the bad fonts, even from my trash can.
    - Re-installing the entire Creative Suite.
    - Running the script cleaner, then re-installing the program.
    - Importing all the fonts included in the non-Instillation disk of my Creative Suite 5, and placing them in Library/Application Support/Adobe/Fonts. I also put them in Library/Fonts.
At this point, I'm willing to do just about anything to get this program to work. I can't understand how the error message that I get keeps appearing- I assumed there was an internal problem when I deactivated the fonts my computer told me were seriously in error, but that should have been fixed by a re-install, or at least the script cleaner.
Any thoughts? I REALLY appreciate your time.
    -Kirby Voss

There are few physical connections between typefaces and applications. "Fonts" often come from--let's just call them unreliable sources. They can damage system components but even that should cause neither Office nor After Effects to crash repeatedly and predictably.
Since you're desperate, wait for additional advice, start looking at the apple.com discussion areas for bad font information, locate the bad fonts and investigate the provider's reputation, and then, after you've exhausted your patience, gather your system disks and your favorite application disks and prepare for a total, scorched earth-style reinitialization of your system.
But wait for some more advice. I'm jsut sayin' you might want to start gathering your resources and setting aside some time.

  • P35 Neo2 - OS died, need help restoring RAID after re-install of XP

I have a P35 Neo2 with on-board Intel RAID.  I need a bit of help getting a two drive RAID going again after reinstalling XP.
    Here's my situation:
Same hardware, MB, etc. I originally set up the system with a 20gb IDE and two 320gb SATA drives. I put the OS on the 20gb, and set the two 320's up as a RAID. I partitioned the 320's into 200gb + 120gb sections on each drive. The 200gb partitions were mirrored between the two drives, and the remaining 120gb on each drive was used as non-RAID storage space.
I picked up a nasty virus-spyware a month or two ago that I was struggling to find a fix for when the OS began to BSOD. I put the 20gb IDE to the side, and put a 40gb IDE in it's place. I re-installed XP on it last night, and now need to get the RAID up and running again.
I went into Disk Management and it showed three dynamic drives with a yellow triangle icon and labeled 'foreign'. I right clicked and found an option to 'import'. I clicked on import and a window popped up showing all of the partitions and logical drives I had previously created on the two drive RAID. I figured I was in business, so I clicked OK.
Disk Management now shows one dynamic disk as 'Online', but still shows two as 'Foreign'. If I right click on them, and chose import, I get the same window showing my partitions and logical drives, but if I click OK, I get a warning message that: "Some of the volumes you are importing will lose data because you have not moved all of your disks to the system."
I'm in over my head at this point, so any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    GeoD

A 200gb partition is restored, but the 120gb is not, which is confusing. ALso, when I look at the logical drives in the partition, I'm beginning to think I had the 200gb mirror /120 gb storage backwards. The data restored is not something I would be concerned with losing. It's installed applications, and multimedia files that I could lose without worry.
There is also 70gb dynamic drive labeled Missing.  I know I left a small portion of all three of the drives unallocated as a reserve, so that must be what this is. It's like the RAID info is incomplete which leads me to the next piece of info.
Something I didn't initially mention for the sake of brevity, was when I right-clicked on 'Import Disk' the applet noted the disk was 3/3. I assumed that meant disk 3 of 3 disks. I've since begun to wonder if I imported the disks in the wrong order. ie) I should have imported disk 1/3 first.
Do you know how to clear out Disk Mgt's info, so I can start over?
I also noticed only one of the 320 SATA's shows up in Device Mgr, (DM). What I found both confused me and encouraged me.
When I created the array, I named the the drives RAID0 and RAID1. They both show up in DM. But only one of them shows up as the drive model: WDC WD3201ABYS-01B9A0. There should be two of them.
The OS knows there should be a RAID, but for some reason only one of the drives show up as hardware.  I rebooted and checked the data and power supply cables, (connected), the BIOS, (both drives show up) and both drives show up in Disk Mgt.  Just not in DM.
Does that mean the HD has died?
Part of my difficulty is I had a brain injury in 2001, followed by another in 2003. The 2nd injury caused 6 months of what the docs call it a walking coma - I walked and talked, but have no memory of the time.
When I 'woke up' in the Fall of 2003, I found I had lost considerable cognitive function and other problems.  These problem have ended up disabling me, (I'm now on SS Disability).
Until then I had been a 'System Admin' for micro-businesses, (max - 15 computers). I built systems and servers, installed networks, maintained them and did all the support. Basically I was these company's Sys Admin on an as-needed basis.
One thing I lost was the ability to troubleshoot and repair hardware. Combined with other cognitive problems, I was forced into closing my business. At the time, I was maintaining close to fifty offices; ~20 had Peer-to-Peer networks & ~20 had servers I had built.
What's doubly frustrating is I was just getting ready to sign up with an online backup service when I got hit with a nasty malware/virus that's so new there's no info on the 'net about it. I got entangled in trying to fix it and spaced out the online back up. Now I find myself in a situation where I desperately need to restore the data on these RAID drives.  Because of the memory problems I now have, I completely depend on my computer as an auxiliary 'brain' - I have stuff on these drives that I have to have.
I didn't do much with RAID when I was still in the biz, and this is the first time I've had problems with a RAID of my own, so I'm struggling to figure this stuff out.
Should I be able to install one of these drives by itself so I can get the data from it? The way I understand the theory of RAID is that if one drive dies, you can put another in and the mirrored portion will re-create itself on the new drive.  Couldn't that be a way to get the important data off the drive or drives if they don't want to go back together as a RAID?
I could back each up to the online service and then just rebuild them.  Not my first choice, but it would reduce my stress level if I thought I could do it.
Sorry to go on, but now you can see why I'm both struggling & worried.
Thanks for any info or help.
    Later,
    GeoD

  • Blackberry died need help

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    Please try this:
Open Blackberry Desktop Software & Connect your device with PC using USB cable, without inserting the BB battery.
You will get three options: Retry, Update Or Cancel -- click on update.
Once it is to the stage of the update "initializing handheld", insert your battery into your BB.
    Good luck!

  • My Blackberry died! Help!

So I was out and I picked up my BB and pressed the unlock button at the top, nothing happened so I pressed all the keys and it still didn't turn on. The battery was nearly fully charged, so it could'nt have died and to make sure, I've put it on charge but it still is not working.
My Blackberry is fairly new because I got it for Christmas.
    Please help.
    I have a Curve 9320 if that's any help

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
    Best!

It seems to be happening if this is done immediately after charging.....any of you out there that can offer advice please?...cant afford to buy my daughter a new unit at mo
    ta
    Philip

It could be some bad sectors on the HD of the iPod, which caused the problem, see the following helps
If a sad iPod icon or an exclamation point and folder icon appears on your iPod’s screen, or with sounds of clicking or HD whirring, it is usually the sign of a hard drive problem and you have the power to do something about it now. Your silver bullet of resolving your iPod issue – is to restore your iPod to factory settings.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983
If you're having trouble, try these steps at different levels one at a time until the issue is resolved. These steps will often whip your iPod back into shape.
Make sure you do all the following “TRYs”
    A. Try to wait 30 minutes while iPod is charging.
    B. Try another FireWire or USB through Dock Connector cable.
    C. Try another FireWire or USB port on your computer .
    D. Try to disconnect all devices from your computer's FireWire and USB ports.
    E. Try to download and install the latest version of iPod software and iTunes
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
For old and other versions of iPod updater for window you can get here
    http://www.ipodwizard.net/showthread.php?t=7369
    F. Try these five steps (known as the five Rs) and it would conquer most iPod issues.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
    G. Try to put the iPod into Disk Mode if it fails to appear on the desktop
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
If none of these steps address the issue, you may need to go to Intermediate level listed below in logical order. Check from the top of the lists to see if that is what keeping iPod from appearing on your computer in order for doing the Restore.
    Intermediate Level
    A. Try to connect your iPod with another computer with the iPod updater pre-installed.
    B. Still can’t see your iPod, put it in Disk Mode and connect with a computer, instead of doing a Restore on iPod Updater. Go and format the iPod instead.
    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
    For Window computer
    Go to folder “My Computer”
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
    Now select “Format”
Eject your iPod and do a Reset
Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
In case you do not manage to do a “Format” on a window computer, try to use some 3rd party disk utility software, e.g.“HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool”.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=501330&tstart=0
    C. Windows users having trouble with their iPods should locate a Mac user. In many cases when an iPod won't show up on a PC that it will show up on the Mac. Then it can be restored. When the PC user returns to his computer the iPod will be recognized by the PC, reformatted for the PC, and usable again. By the way, it works in reverse too. A Mac user often can get his iPod back by connecting it to a PC and restoring it.
    Tips
    a. It does not matter whether the format is completed or not, the key is to erase (or partly) the corrupted firmware files on the Hard Drive of the iPod. After that, when the iPod re-connected with a computer, it will be recognized as an fresh external hard drive, it will show up on the iTunes 7.
    b. It is not a difficult issue for a Mac user to find a window base computer, for a PC user, if they can’t find any Mac user, they can go to a nearest Apple Shop for a favor.
    c. You may need to switch around the PC and Mac, try to do several attempts between “Format” and “Restore”
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2364921&#2364921
    Advance Level
    A. Diagnostic mode solution
If you have tried trouble shooting your iPod to no avail after all the steps above, chances are your iPod has a hardware problem. The iPod's built-in Diagnostic Mode is a quick and easy way to determine if you have a "bad" iPod.
You need to restart your iPod before putting it into Diagnostic Mode. Check that your hold switch is off by sliding the switch away from the headphone jack. Toggle it on and off to be safe.
Press and hold the following combination of buttons simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds to reset the iPod.
    iPod 1G to 3G: "Menu" and "Play/Pause"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Menu" and "Select"
The Apple logo will appear and you should feel the hard drive spinning up. Press and hold the following sequence of buttons:
iPod 1G to 3G: "REW", "FFW" and "Select"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Back" and "Select"
You will hear an audible chirp sound (3G models and higher) and the Apple logo should appear backwards. You are now in Diagnostic Mode. Navigate the list of tests using "REW" and "FFW". The scroll wheel will not function while in diagnostic mode. For further details on Diagnostic mode can be found at http://www.methodshop.com/mp3/ipodsupport/diagnosticmode/
Try to do the 5in1, HDD R/W and HDD scan tests. Some successful cases have been reported after the running the few tests under the Diagnostic mode. In case it does not work in your case, and the scan tests reports show some errors then it proves your iPod has a hardware problem and it needs a repairing service.
    B. Format your iPod with a start disk
I have not tried this solution myself, I heard that there were few successful cases that the users managed to get their iPod (you must put your iPod in disk mode before connecting with a computer) mounted by the computer, which was booted by a system startup disk. For Mac, you can use the Disk Utility (on the Tiger OS system disk), for PC user, you can use the window OS system disk. Try to find a way to reformat your iPod, again it does not matter which format (FAT32, NTFS or HFS+) you choose, the key is to erase the corrupted system files on the iPod. Then eject your iPod and do a Reset to switch out from Disk Mode. Reboot your computer at the normal way, connect your iPod back with it, open the iPod updater, and hopefully your iPod will appear there for the Restore.
If none of these steps address the issue, your iPod may need to be repaired.
Consider setting up a mail-in repair for your iPod http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
Or visit your local Apple Retail Store http://www.apple.com/retail/
In case your iPod is no longer covered by the warranty and you want to find a second repairing company, you can try iPodResQ at your own risk
    http://www.ipodresq.com/index.php
Just in case that you are at the following situation
    Your iPod warranty is expired
You don’t want to pay any service charges
You are prepared to buy a new one
You can’t accept the re-sell value of your broken iPod
Rather than leave your iPod as paper-weight or throw it away.
You can try the following, but again, only do it as your last resort and at your own risk.
Warning !!!! – It may or may not manage to solve your problem, and with a risk that you may further damage your iPod, which end up as an expensive paper weight or you need to pay more higher repairing cost. Therefore, please re-consider again whether you want to try the next level
    Last Resort Level
    1. . Disconnecting the Hard Drive and battery inside the iPod – Warning !! Your iPod warranty will be waived once you open the iPod.
In Hong Kong there are some electronic shops offering an iPod service for Sad iPod, the first thing they do is to open up the iPod’s case and disconnecting the battery and the Hard Drive from the main board of the iPod. Wait for 5-10 minutes and reconnecting them back. The reason behind which I can think of is to do a fully reset of a processor of the iPod. In case you want do it itself and you believe that you are good on fixing the electronics devices and have experience to deal with small bits of electronic parts, then you can read the following of how to open the iPod case for battery and HDD replacement (with Quicktimes)
    http://eshop.macsales.com/tech_center/index.cfm?page=Video/directory.html
2.Press the reset button on the Hard Drive inside the iPod – Suggestion from Kill8joy
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2438774#2438774
Have I tried these myself? No, I am afraid to do it myself as I am squeamish about tinkering inside electronic devices, I have few experiences that either I broke the parts (which are normally tiny or fragile) or failed to put the parts back to the main case. Therefore, I agree with suggestion to have it fixed by a Pro.

I am not suggesting that you should follow as well, but just read them as your reference. You are the person to make the call.
Finally, I read a fair comments from dwb, regarding of slapping the back of the iPod multiple times
Quote “This has been discussed numerous times as a 'fix'. It does work, at least for a while. In fact I remember using the same basic trick to revive Seagate and Quantam drives back in the mid to late 1980's. Why these tiny hard drives go bad I don't know - could be the actuator gets stuck in place or misaligned. Could be the platter gets stuck or the motor gets stuck. 'Stiction' was a problem for drives back in the 80's. Unfortunately the fix can cause damage to the platter so we temporarily fix one problem by creating another. But I know of two instances where a little slap onto the table revived the iPods and they are still worked a year or more later.”UnQuote

  • Think hard drive is dying- please help!

Started the G5 today and heard clicking/ cludding sounds. I believe they came from the top of the tower, which is where the hard drives are (I have an extra one for video storage). The OS would not start up but instead I got a “?” flashing on and off and I believe it was inside a small folder. I had been noticing sounds that sound like shifting to me from a hard drive (impossible to tell which one) for a while now. Last time I heard sounds like this was on my PC and the drive was dying.
Told all this to the AppleCare rep who went through some stuff then concluded that it was a software issue and I should try removing one of the 2 programs she was unfamiliar with: Little Snitch and the software for my Contour Shuttle (like another mouse for video work). I told her this was unlikely as these were very common aps and everything had been fine for quite a while. She said I was welcome to take the G5 to a service center where they could test if it was in fact a hardware issue.
What I’m wondering is 1- does this sound like a hardware issue & 2- is there a way to backup the whole drive?
I may have another SATA drive I could use to back it up and have a TrayDock external FW800 case that allows you to use internal SATA drives. I’ve taken drives from the TrayDock and used them on the G5s other internal slot w/o issue. So it seems to me all I would need to do is get all the info on to the backup, and set the jumper setting correctly. Am I right? If so, how do I get all the info onto the backup and how would the jumper need to be set when it becomes the main Macintosh HD?

I read a report Google did on hard drive failures. It is available in pdf format and quite interesting.
I use Applejack religiously along with Disk Warrior 4 and Carbon Copy Cloner 3. I also use Intech Speedtools to handle bad blocks, defrag, zonebench/quickbench. And I regularly zero my drive before using and again on yearly basis or as needed.
I am not sure why having 4.5 GB RAM would be a factor unless running Memtest or Rember or the Apple Hardware TEst in Extended/Loop Mode.
The best way to "defrag" is quite simple, old-fashioned. It is called *backup and restore* with an erase/zero drive in the middle (dump simultaneously to two tape sets would be very old school!).
DW4 - hold down option and the Rebuild button changes and lets you do a deeper 'scavenger" run which is helpful. I would run the test files first too, but it always opens to the directory rebuild.
When dealing with a problem drive, I start by throwing away stuff I don't need, have backed up, and can replace. From newest to older. Peeling an onion to unravel any cross-linked files in the process.
If it is a boot drive and early on, consider using Single User Mode and fsck along with Applejack. You want to delete all the cache and swap files along with any temp files or logs. It works. And restart into Safe Mode.
SMART is not very smart and does not "predict" failures. That was just one of the conclusions of the Google study where they use thousands of drives and need to know about reliability.

  • I accidently put vr files in trash but did not delete, now stuck on grey screen after battery dying! Help

I am not very tech savvy but recently used a program that tells you what programs and files are using up large amounts of space on your computer I think it was called disc utility maybe. I deleted a whole bunch of things but accidently deleted a folder called vr, I realised I made a mistake and went to remove it from the trash when my laptop died, now it won't turn on past the grey screen with the apple logo!
I didn't delete the files they are just sitting in the trash. Is there anything I am able to do? I don't have any install discs or anything or wifi at my house or have any computer knowledge really. Please help!

Thank you! But do you think that a defective cable would cause it to not boot the cd now as well as the HD errors?
Also, this is kind of embarrassing, but if my trackpad happened to be broken to where I couldn't click it (broke a while back, but I use an external mouse so it never really bothered me) can I hold down the mouse button on my external mouse at startup to eject the cd or does it have to be the trackpad. If not, is there another way I can eject the cd?
    Thanks again!

  • My BB has just Died - Please Help.. what can I do

I have a blackberry curve 8520, for no reason it died.
    I tried to turn back on but nothing;
I swapped over to another battery - I was able to get a red light and the blackberry screen flashed up but then disappeared then reappeared as if it was loading and then died.
I tried again with the power cable plugged in and the new charge battery and nothing.
The phone has not been dropped, in water, electric shocked
I m totally amazed, its 8 months old brought as a pay as you go.
Is there anyway I can get this fixed or what could be the problem

  • Skype to go not working, no solutions here helping

I tried submitting a ticket but it said it was down and I couldn't.
Today I added a subscription to my account and was going to use Skype to Go. I am Canadian and I am using it as a canadian number. I got the instructions VIA a sticky in the Online Numbers section of the forum about alternatives for Canadians. The sticky can be found here
    http://community.skype.com/t5/Skype-Number/Canada-and-other-countries-Online-Number-alternative/td-p...
It suggested adding your contacts phone numbers as your registered phones, and adding your skype name as the contact so they can call you on your skype. My issue is that I have tried deleting everything and restarting and no matter what I do, the skype number says it is always busy. If I phone it from my computer and authorize it, it is again always busy.
The skype to go number in question is (289) 276-0341.
I've checked that the registered numbers are input correctly, no double country codes. I am online, available, and not on any calls when they have attempted to contact me. It always tells them the number is busy. I have tried phoning from both registered numbers on my account.
Please help as it seems pointless to have this if the numbers it assigns me are constantly going to be busy no matter what I do.

I hv been using SKYPE to go fr quite a few years now. We hv recently been away and hv returned to use the phoneand firstly the line cut out after a minute or so and when we called back later the message said insufficient credit. As we hv a direct debit which has worked successfuly upto now am concerned that there is some other issue. Please advise what if anything we need to do to resolve this

  • My computer died need help!!

hi i had to get a new computer due old one dying. ive downloaded itunes on my new computer is there any way i can get all my songs that i bought from itunes on my new computer without having a back up? would i have to pay for all my music and videos again?
    someone please help!

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod:
    File>Transfer Purchases
From the terms of service of the itunes store:
"PRODUCTS CAN BE DOWNLOADED ONLY ONCE; AFTER BEING DOWNLOADED, THEY CANNOT BE REPLACED IF LOST FOR ANY REASON. YOU SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BACKING UP YOUR OWN SYSTEM, INCLUDING ANY PRODUCTS PURCHASED OR RENTED FROM THE ITUNES STORE THAT ARE STORED IN YOUR SYSTEM."
    http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/us/terms.html#SERVICE
You can try contacting itunes support and asking for an exception, but they are under no obligation to allow this.
