Dying pixels, camera looks neon/infrared

My camera hasn't worked for about the last 6 months. It opens and I can see images, but it looks like an infrared heat camera with neon pink and green and red colors. I've tried restoring to factory settings but no good. It also occasionally takes screen shots of my phone without me pressing buttons... Lastly, the pixels at the very top of my phone screen have begun dying lately. They just go gray and don't show images. I'm worried the rest of my phone might follow...
I've had my phone for 2 years and it's not under warranty. I'm taking it into the store shortly to get it looked at, but does anyone know what's wrong with it or have similar issues?

  • Higher pixel camera

I want to know when (or if) Canon will be releasing a higher pixel count camera. I shoot a 5D Mark 2 now for my landscapes and I don't feel that the Mark 3 offers enough improvement over the Mark 2 to justify the cost.....I need more resolution and less noise!
Since Nikon's release of the D800, with it's MUCH higher resolution factor compared to any full-frame Canon product, I have been greatly disappointed that Canon has not been able to answer to such a competitive model with something of their own. I have been shooting Canon for almost 10 years and they have always stayed competitive...why not now!
I have already purchased a Nikon 14-24mm lens that I use with an adapter for my Canon body, because it is the sharpest wide angle variable lens on the market and KILLS the 17-40 OR the 16-35 Canon versions, that both fail miserably in their sharpness factor and have especially soft edges.
If Canon can't produce a better landscape camera, I'll have no choice but to follow in the footsteps of other professionals like Tom Till and Marc Adamus and switch to the Nikon system.
Wake up Canon, pull your head out and make it happen, I'm tired of waiting!
Frustrated and ready to switch, Richard Ansley

As always, people who have information cannot tell. And users like us have no clue. But unless they're releasing another model on top or on par with the 1DX, you'll not likely to see another full frame camera for at least 2 more years. And even if they release something like 1D series camera for high megapixel then it is going to cost a bunch too. So it makes more sense in your case to go with Nikon since you already like it so much. And when Canon finally release some high mega pixel camera for 5DMIV, Nikon may release D900 something even better like 60Mpx or something. Then you'll feel the frustration all over again. So it's better to switch.

  • Camera looks grainy

Camera looks grainy when viewing/taking pics with iPad, but when I pull photos from cloud on another device, they look and print fine.  Ideas!?

There are several (hundred?) apps that can help the pic look better by adding more light to pics you have already taken. photoshop and camera flash come to mind. There are many more.

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

  • Video from MacBook Air camera looks stretched vertically. How can I change this?

I just got a MacBook Air and it looks like whenever I use the camera for video chat or webcam, the results are really stretched vertically. This is driving me nuts since I have to be on client video calls and I look really silly.
    How do I fix this??

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership. If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you also have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to  exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different.

  • Pass through camera, looking to buy. Suggestions?

    Hi,
I'm looking to streamline how I make videos. I've tried using iMovie with a Canon Vixia HF200. But couldn't get the video from the card. I maxed out my RAM to 8 GB, put in a 1TB drive and still didn't work. I did the trial of FCP and while that made importing video from the card, I'm not sold on the expense of that app just yet. (Editing in it was hard as I should have spent the $$ on a 7200 RPM drive instead of a 5400.)
The videos I'm trying to make are demos of my classical guitar performances for youtube, FB etc. The first one I did used the iSight camera with a decent mic: AKG 420. The Canon takes a nice picture but the hassle of using Handbrake and syncing audio from Garageband is just not my idea of how I can best accomplish the task for my needs. Further, the pass through allows me to have a video monitor when I'm setting the shots up by myself.
So, valued community, would you have any suggestions for a camera that might fit the

  • How do you make multi cameras look the same?

So I have three cameras used in the shoot. Lighting is from regular track lighting most commonly found in ware shouse type venues. Cameras 1 & 2 are one foot off the ground pointing ever so slightly up. Camera 3 is shooting from 15 feet off the ground pointing down. How do I make them all look the same in post production? When I try to increase the brightness in camera 3 it looks washed out. When I try to dim the brightness in 1 & two it looks dark and shadowy.

    Ideally you start with this:
    • 3 identical camcorders.
    • Manually set the white balance in each camcorder onsite before doing a shoot.
    • Make sure the 'program' setting is the same in each camcorder, e.g. they should all be "Auto" or "Spotlight" or "Portrait" etc. - the one you prefer.
    • If possible, manually set the exposure in each camera
What probably happened is your camcorders' auto exposure did its job and the cams pointing upward were underexposed because the sensor was affected by the overhead lights.
If your clips' brightness & contrast are reasonably close, start by applying the Color Corrector filter to each clip. Use the Visual control (you will see the button when you apply the filter) and then use the Eye Dropper tool to set the white & black points in each clip. If the cameras weren't too mismatched this may be enough to correct the brightness mismatch. I doubt you will get a perfect match but hopefully close enough that it's acceptable.

  • Why are my RAW files looking like infrared?

    Hi All,
I use Aperture frequently for my editing - just recently had a ridiculous problem that results in my RAW files looking infrared.
Have I enabled only a red channel or something?? Please help!  See pic!

  • Section of the data collected with PCI 1422 card connected to a CCD camera looks step-like

I am using the PCI 1422 card with a DALSA CA-D1-0128T camera to acquire and save fluorescence data from a heart stained with a potentiometric dye. The camera is set to work at 490 frames per second. My acquisition program (made using a producer consumer loop in Labview 2009) works fine most of the times, but sometimes a small section of the collected data looks step-like (not continuous). I have attached herewith a word document containing a snap of the data. Could you please give me some suggestions as to why this happens and how can I rectify it?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Anuj,
First, this sounds like a very cool application.  What are you measuring? Is it in vivo?
I believe that I see what you are referring to--is it where your cursor is that you are seeing the "step" problem?  Also, could you give us a little more information aboutwhat type of data we are looking at?  Is this some sort of image analysis data?
In terms of code structure, due to the way that LabVIEW handles image data types (it is essentially a pointer to the data instead of the data itself), I wouldn't recommend passing an image via a queue.
So, please let me know a bit more about what type of data we are looking at, and what your code looks like, and I'll be happy to help.

  • What presets will help me achieve a color "security camera look"

    Hi
As usual a tight deadline and I need to add effects to a short sequence that needs to look like a security camera.
So we're looking at, perhaps scanning lines, digital date and time stamp (guess I could use timecode for that).
Want it to be a color security camera (not black and white).
Any other suggestions from those of you who are familiar with CS5's various video effects?
    Thanks

I contracted 220 stores in the Calif, Nev and Ariz areas and have run the gamut of problems. The worst of the problems is the constant changing of the DVR recorders by my distributors. Gheez, they last about 60 days before a new one comes out with different software, different buttons, different everything(s).
Camera product seems pretty stable, thus far.
Living in Arizona, I have a few trained techs in each state, but gotta say that keeping them up to snuff on each model is ridiculous.
The funny part (not funny funny, but sad funny) is that the DVR's are pretty solid, reliability wise. If they do break down, swap and go is the best and most economical solution. The bad part is the software. Resetting it and reprogramming it costs more (in terms of labor) than the swap and go of the DVR's.
Proud to say though, our systems have been instrumental in the capture of over 25 idiots thus far, ranging from simple grab and run to armed robberies.

  • What does a dead pixel even Look like ?

I posted a thread 24 hours ago that ended up w/ a missing section, then 2 replies to finish.... a real mess that went deservedly unanswered.
    I'm sure I can do better :
Suddenly I've got 2 "bits of dust" towards the lower right corner of my 24" display. They're different sizes ( the smaller close to a pin-head ) and the slightly larger one is a much darker shade of grey. They're also roughly-edged...misshapen.
They look like pieces of grit , is it even possible for a foreign particle to "ride in on a CD" and end up visible within the display ?
I'm sure that's doubtful, but I don't know much beyond what they "look like"
I've tried the Pixel-Fixer widget, but have seen no effect.
I'd just like to hear what else others may have had, the better to determine what these interlopers actually are !
    thanks, Dave

The LCD is a sealed unit before it's placed in the computer so no it's not possible for foreign particles to "ride in on a CD". It may be possible for dust to get under the "glass" that covers the LCD, but again, not from a CD.
I'm sure that's doubtful, but I don't know much beyond what they "look like"
Apple has a decent article on pixel anomalies. In order to keep LCD costs down, a certain number of pixel anomalies are considered "acceptable" by most manufacturers. Some resellers offer a dead pixel warranty for an extra cost. They lose money with individual LCDs that are returned with pixel anomalies that are considered "acceptable" (the manufacturer would bill them for repair or replacement) and usually sell them at a reduced cost. In the long run, though, most LCDs don't have pixel anomalies so the more dead pixel warranties they sell, the more profit they make.
I've tried the Pixel-Fixer widget, but have seen no effect.
Software like the Pixel-Fixer widget are often just temporary solutions. Stuck pixels usually indicate a hardware issue with the LCD matrix and the only guaranteed way to make sure they're gone is to replace the display.
This picture mistakenly refers to a "bright" pixel as "dead". When the pixel is stuck in an open position (allowing light to pass through) it's a "bright" (sub-)pixel. When it's stuck in a closed position (blocking light from passing through) it's called a "dark" or "dead" pixel.
This picture shows a dead (or "dark") pixel.
Hopefully that clears some of your questions.

  • How come the ipad 2 camera looks zoomed in?

i just got an ipad 2 as a gift and then when i opened up the camera it looks like it zoomed in on things but you cannot zoom out anymore. so if im for example, 2 feet away from an object the camera appears to be 1 feet away

No, nothing is wrong with your iPad.  They are all that way due to the small sensor and optics that are required to be used in the iPad.
Let Santa know you want a digital camera for Christmas!  Then get the Camera Connection kit, load the photos onto the iPad, and share them with your friends via email or iMessage!
