Dymo label writer

Is anyone successfully using a Dymo label writer with Mavericks? Dymo tell me the current software does not support Mavericks and it might, or might not work. As I really need to use my Dymo every day, I am a bit loathe to upgrade to Mavericks if the Dymo is not going to work!

Here's a response from DYMO. I asked about Mavericks compatibility with certain LabelWriter models (my workplace has several - 330s to 450 Turbos).
The LabelWriter series 400 and 450 are compatible with the Maverick, provided you have installed DymoLabel software 8.5.1.
The LabelWriter 330 series has models that are compatible and some that are not. If the 5 digit model number on the bottom of the 330 is 90884, 93033, 93038, 90891 or 93037 (USB models only), should also be compatible with Maverick and our 8.5.1 software.
Installation instructions for 8.5.1 follow:
Before the latest software release, DymoLabel software was not fully compatible with all Mac operating systems.
It is important that you uninstall any Dymo printer and software and do a clean installation of the latest DymoLabel software for your Mac.
If you are upgrading to Version 8 of the DymoLabel Software and currently have an earlier version, we suggest that you back up your addressbook prior to installing this software. (If this is your initial installation, you can skip this backup step.)

The steps to install the latest DymoLabel Software (DLS) follow. All steps are important.
1. Go into System Preferences> Print and Scan and delete the DYMO printer. Then, unplug the USB cable for the printer.
2. Go into your applications and drag the DYMO Label application into the trash.
3. Browse to Macintosh HD> Library> Frameworks> DYMO, and delete that DYMO folder.
4. Browse to Macintosh HD> Library> Printers> DYMO, and delete that DYMO folder.
5. In the Finder, click on 'GO' in the toolbar at the top of the screen, then hold down the Option key on the keyboard. A new Library menu option will appear in the 'GO' menu. Click on Library > Preferences, and delete any com.DYMO files.
6. Empty the trash then restart the computer.
7. Once restarted, install this version of the DYMO software:

8. Once installed, plug the printer back in and it should automatically be recognized.
9. Open the software and try to print.
NOTE: Do not connect the USB cable to your computer or USB hub until instructed to do so during the software installation. If you have a label printer already installed, disconnect the USB cable from your computer before running the installer and reconnect the cable when instructed to do so.
Connect the USB printer cable into a USB port directly on the computer. It will not work if connected to a USB hub, docking station or Mac keyboard.

Address book and dymo label writer

Hi there,
I've come across the following problem while trying to print labels from my Dymo. With the help of a tip from 'the divining ape' somewhere on the discussions forum I am able to print to my Dymo printer with the help of some custom shipping label settings.
However I can't seem to print the organization name and the persons name. It will only print the top line and the address field below.
So I get or the persons name and the address or the company name and the address. This is not very practical because often one needs the both on an address label.
And since I don't like working with the Dymo software (no searchfunction, and no company recognistion) I would really like to work only with Address book.
Has anyone got a solution or work-around for this?
Or is there a dymo plugin somewhere?

I have a Dymo Label Writer Twin Turbo, with Dymo 30252 labels loaded on the left and 30915 (stamps) loaded on the right. I would like to use address book to print mailing labels on the 30252 and can't seem to configure it correctly (read here I am not pleased with the software from Dymo).

DYMO Label doesn't work correctly since installing mavericks

After installing mavericks, DYMO Label didn't work. So I updated DYMO Label to 8.5.0.1836. Now I can print address labels, which is fine.
But if I want to SAVE a label, the first two lines of the address are put together and the layout confuses. So I have to separate the first to lines manually befor printing the label the next time.
Are there any other users with this kind of problem? And if so: Are there any ideas to solve that problem?

I updated to Mavericks 3 days ago and am working through my printer issues. The one solved this morning was my Dymo LabelWriter Twin Turbo, which was not recognised as available, and the Dymo app (version 8.2.2.1172) simply said it had an error. I wrote a help ticket to Dymo and someone from their Helpdesk very helpfully sent a set of instructions (below) which cured the issue. I followed everything to the letter, copying off all my Dymo files, installing new software from the specified address, deleting all Dymo driver files from my MacPro, and it all worked out. Once installed, I tested creating, printing and saving new labels. Then I put back all my saved label files from the previous version of the software, and had no problem printing labels, even with my custom graphics. The software also chose the correct side of the printer to print from without any intervention from me (the previous software kept defaulting to the wrong label size). It also chose the correct custom graphic for default insertion without me having to set it. Thus far (at least) all is well.

In an attempt to resolve the current issue, please be so kind to follow the below instructions for a complete
reinstall of the software and the drivers:
- First please copy on a USB stick all your saved labels and addresses, if any. They have extension .label and .abx.
- Unplug the USB cable of LabelWriter 450 Twin Turbo from the Mac, if it is currently plugged in.
- Just in case please check once again if its icon appears Printers & Scanners and if it is there, please delete it.
- Uninstall Dymo Label Software by deleting it from HD > Application.
- In the Spotlight type ‘terminal’ and launch this application. The default location is under Applications>Utilities
- Enter or copy/paste the following commands into the Terminal window. Press the return key after you enter each line of text:
defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES
killall Finder
        - In Finder go to HD (HardDrive) -> Library -> Application Support -> DYMO Label Software and delete everything by dragging and dropping the entire folder to the Trash bin.
       - In the Finder’s search (situated in the upper right corner of its window) type “Dymo” and delete everything that gets shown.
       - Reboot the Mac and install Dymo Label Software from the below link:

Dymo labels javascript (API) issue

I'm trying to print labels directly from APEX via a JS library from DYMO (DYMO label framework for javascript).
I would like to fetch the XML for the label layout dynamically from the database instead of fixed assigning this in JS, that way I can store all the templates for labels in the database and fetch the appropriate one for the task I'm doing ).
If I use the fixed code it works fine, code looks like this ( label XML layout is assigned to labelxml variable in the first few lines ) :

but when I try to fetch the same XML from a text field on my form it fails with a "getObjectByNameElement(): no object with name 'Text' was found" error which is a custom error from the DYMO library.
I'm unable to find the big difference in the 2 approaches. If I test the variable labelxml by putting it in an alert the value seems fine ( it contains the XML string which is in P11_LABELTEMPLATE which is exactly the same as the static assigned text in the previous example ).

Print metadata label on a label writer?

Anyone know a way to print an metadata label using a label writer? This would be handy stick on the backside of a print. That way it would be easy too see filname, when the photo was taken, where, keywords and so on.

Don't know about a label-writer, but it shouldn't be difficult to print a contact sheet which matches one of the Avery (or other) standard label forms. That will give you not only the metadata, but a thumbnail as well. The trick will be getting it lined up, and getting the metadata you want.
You might be able to do something similar with a label-printer, printing one image w. metadata per page/label.
Note too that you can export metadata for selected images as a text file grid. This then requires additional manipulation -- format and print any way you want. If you do it often, it would be well worth automating the process.

Printing multiple dymo labels

We're having a bit of trouble printing multiple dymo labels.
We use adobe reader to take a snapshot of a barcode from our amazon fba labels and its all fits fine but when you put in say 12 copies it only prints 1.
Its not the label printer because we print out 100 return address labels at a time through the dymo software so its something in adobe that's not pushing up that we want more than one copy.
It did used to work but we have moved offices and got new computers, It did used to work on our older mac but won't do it on this new one.

Dymo label manager 450 wont print from labview

Hello all ...I have a weird problem.....I can print a .txt file fine from windows out to my new Dymo label manager 450 printer on a usb port . When I try to let my labview application print out to the same exact printer-usb port it sounds like its immediately printing out the label yet it just spits out a totally blank label ? If I take the same EXACT labview program on the same machine and simply redirect it out to a network printer it prints out the file fine ? What am I doing wrong ? Thanks J.

Nadim...thanks for jumping in...it looks like to me the labview application cannot handle printing to a 1/4 " label.....the margins default to 1 inch by 1inch by 1 inch by 1 inch for top bottom left right margins on the labview REPORT icon . Whenever I change the margins in the labview icon by doing a create -control ---it wont even try to print a lblank label out anymore when I change them to something less than 1 inch default....after running it just says -denoted with a red x ~margins invalid in the labview margin control window ....so it looks like I break it when going to something smaller than an inch to a 1/4 inch label.......strangely if I print out a .txt file to the dymo printer from "windows" it prints fine and also when I take the same exact LABVIEW program and run it out to a network printer- using full sheets of paper -it prints fine and the margins there are LRTB 1 inch ...... .help ......jfk .

Dymo label only prints correctly on development PC

I am trying to get a Dymo 30374 appointment card label to work in an app that uses CR. Note this is not an app I have built but a purchased app that uses CR v.9 for its reports.
This label is 3.5" wide x 2" tall. The report prints exactly right on my development PC with CR 8.5 and CR 10 installed. If I take the report file to a target computer running that app, the label prints only on the bottom one inch of the form. The target computer prints other CR reports from this purchased app all the time. Those reports format correctly. It is only the Dymo label reports I have trouble with. I have updated Dymo drivers on the target computer and verified it had the same driver version I have on my development PC. The drivers don't seem to be a variable. There is something about using the Dymo on a PC that doesn't have CR installed that causes the problem. I set the printer to the Dymo in the CR report and specify the label type in the paper size using Print Setup. My first attempt at this was using CR 2008. The vendor distributes CR 9 DLL's with the app, so they suggested using an earlier version of CR. I have CR 10 and I tried that without success. The vendor suggested I used a version earlier than 9 since CR is supposed to be backward compatible. I have CR 8.5, so I used it on the final attempt. The vendor is stumped and so am I.
Here are some specifics:
Computers: Windows XP Pro SP3
Printer type: Dymo Labelwriter 400 Turbo
Label type: 30374 Appointment card
If anyone has suggestions, I am wide open.

I am 100% with you. Coming into the holiday season I really wish this worked. The dymo software is absolutely horrid. If I could print from AB, I would be thrilled!

Can I print Dymo labels directly from Address Book?

That would be cool. But I end up launching Dymo's crap app and cutting and pasting every address into a label I want to print.

I agree with the previous posts that Dymo's Label Software is satisfactory when you choose to use Apple's Address Book app. However, I frequently want to print a single label from Address Book, and I don't like to waste time launching Dymo's app and scrolling (no search function!) through my addresses.
Here's the solution I have used to print a single address label from Address Book (v. 3.1.2) to my LabelWriter Twin Turbo:
(1) With the address selected in Address Book, got to File > Print ...
(2) Choose "Dymo Labelwriter" from the Printer drop-down menu
(3) Under the "Layout" tab (not "List"), be sure "Dymo" & "Shipping Labels" is selected from the Page drop-down. (It seems counter-intuitive to select shipping labels when you're printing address labels, but it's the only workaround I've found, and you'll modify the margins in step #4.)
(4) Now select "Define Custom ..." from the Page drop-down menu and give it a new name (e.g. "Dymo Address") (+At this point, the label preview on the left should look like a big shipping label still+.)
(5) Modify the margins of your custom page layout (in inches) to Top=1.200 Bottom=0.000 Left=0.500 Right=0.250
(6) Print a sample copy and adjust margins to suit your needs
If you wonder why this circuitous route works, +so do I+. If you don't want to read my proposed explanation, simply follow the steps above and stop reading. If you'd like to know what I think is happening, feel free to read on:
As best I can discern, Address Book is sending the print job to the Labelwriter, assuming the label spool is *centered on the spindle*. As you know, that's not the case. However, when you tell Address Book you're printing on a large shipping label, which takes up most of the spindle anyway, you can then adjust the margins (esp. the top margin) to print only on the "bottom half" of the shipping label. That means you've defined margins suitable to print on the actual address labels installed on the left side of the spindle.

How do I set up the system to print 4x6 labels via paypal and ebay using a DYMO 4XL Thermal Label Printer (through airport)?

We bought a DYMO Label Writer 4XL. We want to print thermal labels from our Mac and PC, wireless. The good thing is that I already have the printer set in the network and added on each of our computers (Mac and Windows 8). For printing regular labels you can use the Dymo software; for printing postage labels from ebay or paypal has been impossible.
From ebay I even tried one label at the time but still did not work. I sent the the print command from the mac-print-window, changing each of the settings (such as paper size) but did not work. Each time (no matter if you want to print one label only) it advances more than one lable.

Through Paypal is a different story. It should be easy cause it seems the Zebra Driver in Paypal works with this DYMO. The issue is how to get the system to send the print command to the DYMO printer through the Zebra LP2488? please help! I know some people have succeded making all these work. What am I missing?

To whomever is reading this post I just wanted to let you know I returned the Dymo 4XL. Their customer service is horrible. Technical support does not exist at all. The issue was extremely frustrating and time consuming. I do not recommend this thermal printer at all. Good luck finding one... if you do, please share.

Crystal report of label size is not printing correctly

we have interated crystal report CR4E version with our application and facing 2 issue when i am generating crystal reports from application.
we are having a crystal report designed for label size.
1.
While generate the report from application with output as a pdf browser and print to label printer (DYMO Label Writer 400) all the records(for example:7) are getting printed in a single label .
when the same report is generated from crystal report software and print to label printer (DYMO prinetr 400) all the records (For example:7 records) it is printing each record per page (for example :7 pages).
2.
When i am generating crystal report of label size from my application and getting the binary data . When i am sending this binary data to a label printer(DYMO Label writer 400) i am getting an exception "printer's imageable width is too small".
i am using CR4E crystal report version and java 1.5 verison.The paper size of the label printer (DYMO label Writer 400)" 30252 Address"
can any one please help me on this issues.

I am printing the report using in 2 different ways.
1. Using adobe print
I have designed the label report for 1.1 height and 3.5 width in crystal report designer. but when i generate the report with pdf browser as output the report height and width are 11.0 height and 8.50 width.
2. Using printoutputcontroller
I am printing the report directly from the application using printoutput controller . when i print using print output controller i am getting an exception "printer's imageable width is too small".
My application is developed in java. Please help me to display this report in my application as per the page size I mentioned and also how can i avoid the exception "printer's imageable width is too small".

Can't print more than 1 on both my hp printers

I have 2 printers, an hp CP2025dn and a Photosmart C7280.
Neither of them will print more than one of any document, no matter what I put in the box.
It just started happening, I used to be able to print more than one copy.
I am running windows 7 32 bit

We switch frequently between multiple printers connected for different print jobs--Laser, Color inkjet, and a Dymo label writer-- and having to go back to the Chooser to switch printers back and forth is tedious for the demands of our situation. We have had entire reports printed out on labels because a user didn't know how to use the Chooser or forgot to switch back. Using the LW8 driver in Classic makes all the printers available in a single place from a drop down menu and also allows for postscript file output easily (which is converted to a pdf file by an automator folder action). From a multiuser perspective, this is easier to use (and to teach) than dealing with the chooser and OS9 drivers. Unfortunately, there seems to be a one page limit with non-postscript printers and I would like to see if there is a way around this.

Share usb hard drive with a usb hub

I have a USB Hub connect to the AEBS with a Dymo Label Writer and a WD USB drive connected. While I see the drive and the printers in the Airport Utility, I can't seem to connect to them from either WinXP Pro computer.
Any idea what is wrong that I can't see them

Given actual price of hardware, I went for a totally different solution...
I bough a used PC which I boosted with 4 GB of RAM... it's a intel dual core... and I plugged in a Terabyte SATA drive.
It's much less expensive than a mac mini.
Then I installed Ubuntu Server LTS and Samba for file sharing... FREE of course
All that to get a very great file server that acts in PDC (security=domain) mode so it's totally great
None of the NAS I reviewed gave me enough freedom for the file sharing management that I wanted, and the mac mini + leopard server solution where too expensive.
Once my little company grows, imma get a Xserve fo sho but for now, this setup is the best for me
