Dynadock w. DVI, phase 2

Hello,
looking through the dynadock manual (available online for download on the Toshiba homepage) I could not quite figure out whether Dynadock will be able to transmit the resolution of
1400 x 1050 (SXGA+) to an external monitor. Our Notebook would be capable of this resolution (it is tne displays native resolution), but has got only an VGA port. (poor quality). We need to connect a beamer with the resolution of 1400 x 1050. Can anybody here tell me, whether Dynadock will do this? There seems to be a new version of Dynadock (phase 2), but I could not find any informaiton regarding this new version (and the differences to the old one). The OS is still Windows XP, latest service pack.
Yours,
Frank

Have you installed the latest Dynadock Drivers?

  • Portege R500: Which port replicator with DVI could be compatible

    Hi,
Does anyone know which port replicator with DVI supports the portege R500 notebook.
When I look at the product and it's accessories no one of the port replicators lists the portege R500 as a supported notebook.
Perhaps there is not one as of now?

    Hi
I also used the Toshiba Options & Accessories website for the searching and I found these parts:
    - Dynadock - Universal USB Docking Station with Video (DVI) Phase 2 PA3542E-2PRP
    - Slim Port Replicator 2 PA3603E-1PRP
    - USB 2.0 Port Replicator II (Ethernet / EU Version) PX1173E-1PRP
If you need more details about these single devices then google simply for these part numbers.

  • 2nd display resolution 1440x900 and cannot be changed!

I have connected a 2nd display to my laptop using Toshiba DynaDock.  The monitor is an Acer S200 with native resolution of 1600x900. Monitor is connected to DynaDock by DVI cable. However I cannot get the monitor to display in 1600x900.  The maximum available is 1440x900. I am sure that when I first plugged in the monitor using VGA that I could get 1600x900 resolution.  At some point this stopped. I really don't know if it has to do with switching to the DVI cable. I am running Windows 8.1.  The S70 laptop has a 17" display at 1600x900. I'm also confused by the display adapters.  The laptop has an AMD Radeon Graphics adapter.  However, it appears that this is not being used.  When I right click on laptop display, I get the HD Intel Graphics adapter control. This adapter has no idea that there is another monitor attached.  It only controls the built in display. I can access the AMD Radeon Catalyst Control center by right clicking on 2nd display, then click Graphics Properties. This opens the AMD Catalyst Control center.  However there is nothing within the CCC that allows me to select a resolution.  If I click Screen Resolution from right click on 2nd display, I get a window "Change the appearance of your displays". This shows 2 monitors. #1 is Mobile PC Display, 1600x900, Landscape, Extend these displays. #2 is "No Monitor", 1440x900, Landscape, Extend these displays. If I open the DynaDock Display Link Manager (version 7.7.60366.0) , I see 2. Dynadock U3.0. This opens a set of options. If I click screen resolution, there is a list of available options.  The list jumps from 1440x900 to 1600x1200.  There is no option for 1600x900.  If I click any resolution above 1440x900, the "Input Not Supported" message appears on the monitor. Once again, I want to display my 2nd monitor at 1600x900 resolution, but I cannot figure out how to do that. Please help.

  • Satellite A205: Dynadock - How to connect to LCD TV with HDMI to DVI cable

I recently purchased this product and had a problem when connecting it to my LCD TV.
I used a HDMI to DVI cable to connect it to the TV. Only a small portion of the full display shows on the TV.
I have adjusted all setting on the laptop (Satellite A205) but it only adjusts the laptop screen, not the TV.
I also used the adaptor to VGA, plugged it into the computer input on TV, same effect. I can use VGA output on side of laptop to TV ok.
Any ideas on how to adjust dynadock output settings?

First of all it would be interesting to know what dynadock you have exactly; one with DVI port or one with VGA port?
    >I have adjusted all setting on the laptop (Satellite A205) but it only adjusts the laptop screen, not the TV.
You should know that the dynadock has a own built-in graphics controller and video drivers to control the video stream.
Therefore you should change the settings directly in the dynadock settings and not on the laptop!!!

  • PA3927U-1PRP Dynadock U3.0 DVI to VGA adapter problem

The adapter does not fit and causes damage to both the dock and the adapter when connected. I purchased one from a very reputable re-seller's website. after attaching the adapter I plugged in my VGA monitor and there was no picture. When I disconnected the adapter, I saw that DVI port on the dock was damaged, and the pins on the adapter were slightly bent. There was a little resistance when I pushed it on, but I thought it was just a nice tight fit. I returned the dock to the reseller, and received a new one. When I try to use the adapter, once again it does not go on easily, so I did not force it. I have a couple of DVI to HDMI adapters that go on smoothly and cause no problems. But I need to connect this dock to a VGA monitor. This is the main reason I bought the Dynadock, because it came with a DVI to VGA adapter. I don't want to keep returning it until I get one that works, and I don't think I should have to spend extra money to buy an adapter that works when one should be supplied. Please advise what I should do. Chris

    Try installing this.

  • Dual VGA \ DVI output on Dynadock??

    Hello
We have recently got the DVI \ VGA Dynadocks U10 and have got all the software installed
In the box was a note stating that with windows XP it is not possible to set an external monitor to the primary screen and then set the notebook monitor to the secondary
This is fine, however I have got a VGA and a DVI monitor connected to the dynadock
Is it possible to have the notebook display turned off and have the VGA as the primary monitor and the DVI as the secondary?
Everything I have tried so far has failed

    Hello,
it is not possible to use both (VGA + DVI port) at the same time.
You can use either a VGA or DVI monitor with the dynadock but you can connect the VGA monitor to the computer directly.
    best regards

  • Portege R500: cannot connect the remote DVI monitor via Dynadock

    Hello,
I just connected Dynadock (DVI) with my Portege R500. The notebook would be supported -- according to Toshiba -- but my experiment confirms that Dynadock is not able to access DVI port. This implies, that Dynadock is nothing more than USB HUB.
My setup: Vista 32b Business (CZE edition), latest fixes, Toshiba R500.
    Software: latest dynadock software 2.3c.
Symptom: I cannot connect to the remote DVI monitor via the dynadock, only two external panels with 800x600 are available, but Vista does not allow me to choose them.
More info: Dynadock Software requires to run without Microsoft Defender, else it blocks service:DisplayLinkService; file:C:\Program Files\DisplayLink Core Software\DisplayLinkService.exe
If you disable MSDef, the message "error 2738" appears when you connect the dynadock and when Vista tries to install a missing drivers for you.
Yes, I do know the VBS issue, and the problem is not caused by VisualBasic -- VBS "Hello World" runs.
If you still believe, that Toshiba Dynadock is compatible with Toshiba R500, then press Fn-F5 and peek at your logs and you must find something like:
In English: igfxext.exe throws an exception 0xc000000d, offset 0x0000f9f8.
I welcome any comments, hints etc. If you are able to pass this bug report to a responsible engineer, do so please.

    Hello again Leo
I still believe you are wrong. Toshiba Dynadock is not designed for Toshiba products only. It is universal product and can be used on every notebook. To be honest I believe it is better to use it with new, more powerful, notebooks.
When you sat your notebook model is listed as compatible I believe you. Why not? Toshiba can list all newer notebooks. No problem at all. To be honest I am also interested to buy Dynadock but after reading your posting I wanted to see how it works exactly.
I have contacted my friend because he works in one big electronic store and I was lucky because he had Portege M500 too.
He was very nice and offered me to test Portege M500 SSD model with Dynadck PA3542EY1PRP. I hope you have the same model. It is DVI model. So I have done follow:
    - Portege was preinstalled with clean Vista OS (factory settings started for the first time)
    - I have installed latest Dynadock Utilitiy for Vista 2.3c
    - Installing this software you must pay attention about installations steps and the installations procedure should not be interrupted
at one step there is window Installation Complete but it is not complete and must be continued with
    Display Link Core Software installation
    Video Dock installation
at this point the Dynadock must be connected to favorite USB port NOT FROM THE BEGINNING
    - At the end I have restarted notebook
The installation was finished properly and I have connected 20 Toshiba Tekbright LCD display (DVI cable). The native resolution is 1680x1050. in Display properties there are shown three displays. Display number 3 belongs to display connected to the Dynadock.
Resolution 1680x1050 was there and display shows perfect picture. I have tested it as extended desktop and it works without problems. I didnt test it playing some movies.
I have also tested it with FN+F5 key combination. It does not work as it should be but there is definitely no error message. I know that FN+F5 key combination is not designed for external graphic card and I know that it can not work well.
At the end I can sat that Dynadock works well with Portege M500 SSD and there is definitely no error message. It works with Vista very well. I have tested it with screen saver and with few restarts. Nothing changes. Everything was OK.
So after this test I can say that you have done some mistake. If you want to use it again I recommend you to install Vista again using recovery image. After doing this you will have clean preinstalled OS. Install software but please follow the menu on the screen and be sure all three components are installed properly. If I am remembering well when you see message about USB audio device installation you must connect Dynadock and continue installation.
PLEASE FOE DYNADOCK USE ALWAYS THE SAME USB PORT!!!
Sorry for this long story but I can say for sure IT WORKS PROPERLY!!!
    Have a nice day!

  • Dynadock U3: no signal on DVI port

    Hi,
    I run a Dynadock U3 (PA3927E-1PRP) on a Dell XPS-12 under Win8.
The configuration worked fine for a number of weeks, now a strange behaviour appears from time to time: the DVI monitor (LG-20D) is recognized by windows (it switches to split screen, the USB sound is played) but the monitor has no signal.
Different manouvers help from time to time but I so far did not see any reliable strategy:
-Powering off and on of the Dynadock sometimes help
-unplugging of the USB cable could help
I have the latest DisplayLink driver for Win8 installed (7.1M1), deinstallation and reinstallation also did not improve anything.
I would appreciate any helpful comment.
    Best regards
    TimTom
PS: is there any tool to review the dynadock status around?

Well you have tried going back to the old version and reflashing so perhaps co-incendence?
Might want to open a ticket with msi.
    >>How to contact MSI.<<
At the same time, re-seat the CPU, check under the main board and the rear i/o shield for shorts and reseat the other components. Although it seems the bios flash has done something odd.
I'll also link this to Svet and see if he has any ideas, but this is weird.

  • No HDMI or MiniDP-to-VGA output, but HDMI-to-DVI is okay

I purchased my Mac Mini almost a week ago and I've been having strange issues with getting my various monitors to work with it.
I don't own any Thunderbolt or native MiniDisplayPort monitors, however I do have a number of VGA monitors, as well as some HP LP2475w monitors which have VGA, DVI (DVI-D and DVI-A), HDMI, and DisplayPort inputs.
When I have OS X installed on my Mac Mini, the Apple MiniDP-to-VGA adapter works with my VGA monitors, but only when OS X has loaded. My monitors all say "no signal" during the boot-up phase. However I had no problems when I connect my LP2475w monitors to the Mac Mini via the HDMI-to-DVI adapter: I see the grey screen during bootup, can see/access the boot menu, and everything works fine.
Today I purchased a HDMI cable to connect the Mac Mini to my LP2475w monitors to see if that would work. Well, it does work... almost, sometimes, but not most of the time.
When I use a direct HDMI connection my LP2475w says there's no signal, unless I plug the cable in during the text-mode portion of Windows' bootloader (under Boot Camp). As soon as Windows loads, or during the grey-screen bootup section my monitors all say there's no signal. There is nothing wrong with the cable or my monitors.
    Here's a table:
    Connection
    Can see boot screen/boot menu
Can see OS X (when loaded)
    Can see Windows (when loaded)
HDMI from Mac Mini to LP2475w
    No
    Not tested
    No
HDMI-to-DVI from Mac Mini to LP2475w
    Yes
    Yes
    Yes
MiniDP-to-VGA from Mac Mini to VGA monitor
    No
    Yes
    No
So what's going on here then?
Has anyone else had the same problems as me?

SOLVED - I purchased a third-party MiniDP to DVI adapter instead and it works a treat.
Quite what the difference can be to a supposedly passive adapter I'm unsure - but glad it's fixed anyhow.

  • Issues with Dynadock 3.0 and Windows 8

    My setup is as follows:
    Toshiba Satellite C875 laptop
    Windows 8 (64bit)
    Toshiba Dynadock u3.0 (brand new)
Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0100 (Microsoft) USB3.0 drivers
    Intel HD graphics 4000
Installed 'DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for Windows' 7.1 M0 21DEC2012
When I plug the dynadock in, the keyboard and mouse work, but there is no display on the monitor. There is no Displaylink icon in the system tray even when I plug the dock in. I have a monitor plugged into the dvi connector in the dynadock.
The Displaylink software is installed correctly and the service is running. In device manager->USB Display Adapters, there are two items, DisplayLink Display Adapter (4305) and dynadock U3.0.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Displaylink software several times and nothing I do seems to produce an icon in the system tray. (I'm checking when the dynadock is plugged in)
I have the latest USB3.0 drivers installed.
I have plugged the dynadock into a USB2.0 slot and a USB3.0 slot and same result. It appears that the software is installed correctly, but I can not get the display to work, nor even see the DisplayLink icon.
I know the dynadock is working because the display works fine on a windows 7 machine.
I contacted DisplayLink with this and they said it is a firmware issue on the dynadock.
Any thoughts on what's going on would be appreciated.

The DisplayLink people are misinformed. There are no firmware updates for the Dynadock. Check this website and go to Product Support. Click on Laptop Accessories and click on Dynadock and finally click on your model of Dynadock. See any firmware updates? Me neither.
Check your settings. Make sure the DVI monitor is turned on and plugged into the Dynadock. Make sure the Dynadock is turned on and plugged into the computer and THEN turn on the computer. Check the Control Panel and click on Display and then Screen Resolutions. It should show two monitors.
If you're still not getting any display on the DVI monitor, make sure you are using the latest video driver. In this case DisplayLink will have the latest driver. The Toshiba people will need to test the DisplayLink drivers first before they put it up on their website.

  • Connecting external Screen with Toshiba DynaDock U3

    Hi,
    I have the following issue:
Bought two external Screens (Dell U2412M)
    Notebook: ASUS Zenbook
    Dynadock Station U3
Now, I connected the first Screen with DVI to the DynaDock and it works perfectly.
The Dockstation has only 1 port for DVI, so i had to connect the second Screen through HDMI, but unfortunately my dell Screens do not have HDMI Connection, but displayPort. so I bought a cable which can connect Displayport to HDMI. And i connected the Screen displayport with HDMI to the DynaDock.
Unfortunately my device do not recognize the second external Screen.
I have no idea why it is so.
Hope some kindly Person can help me.
    Kind Regards,
    Alessandro

    >I have no idea why it is so.
    Possible its not Dynadock issue
You should firstly check if the cable you bought is OK and would work without the usage of Dynadock
Connect an external monitor to HDMI port using this cable and check if it would work properly.
and just to confirm: the Dynadock U3 can handle up to 2 external monitors simultaneously.

  • Dynadock PA3575U-1PRP dynadock U

We have the dynadock PA3575U-1PRP dynadock U and we are trying to get our 2 - HP w17e monitors to work. So they are both native vga monitor. One works fine - the one connected to the VGA output from the dynadock but the the other monitor does not get a signal we are using a vga cable with a vga to dvi converter for dynadock output but nothing works.
We are using a lenova twist computer. We tried another monitor that does have a dvi and it worked fine but wanted t ouse matching monitors.....
Ideas why do they not work?
Is it the signal coming from the dynadock? Monitor?
    Please help.....
    Thanks
    Jerry

    Additional information.
So I found another monitor that has dvi so not both screens have a screen except the computer only sees laptop screen and the 1 of the screen. The monitors are mirrors of each other ????
I'm so confused. Why does it not see each monitor. Can this only handle 1 monitor/ This would really be a waste of time. What a cheat!!!
Any ideas? I have he latest 7.7 drivers. I have tried this with 3 laptops with the same results. So clearly it's the dynadock?
    It should see 3 ???
Please help? I think i just wasted my money.

  • Only part of screen is shown on external display with Dynadock U3.0

    Hi,
I just installed a new Dynadock U3.0 and connected an external display (DVI-D connection). But now I only see a part of the screen on my display. My laptop is 15" and the ext. display is 24".
    How can I solve this?
EDIT: Wauw, after an update it is solved and the screen is not lagging anymore! Nice!
    Thank you.
    Maarten

IIRC you can't expand a screen sharing window beyond the screen settings of the machine you're controlling/viewing.
In other words, if the Mini's screen is set to 1024x768, then the largest screen sharing window you can get is… 1024 x 768 (plus a little extra for the window title bar, etc.
That's at least in part due to the fact that if your viewing window was larger than the target machine then you'd have scaling and pixellation issues).
Therefore the solution would be to set the screen dimensions on the Mini to something larger.

  • Satellite U305: cannot watch videos on external monitor running Vista with Dynadock

    Hi Fellows,
I have one Satellite U305 running Windows Vista, I bought also one Dynadock VGA with external HP 20" monitor.
I have uppdated all Dynadock drives (Audio, Video, etc) to the latest version, but DVD Video or MPEG Video recorded with my camera is no possible to watch on extended monitor only in the primary monitor (notebook monitor).
For exemple my Toshiba DVD Player works normally on Notebook monitor but when I transfer the window to extended monitor, Toshiba DVD Player stops to work.
Video doesnt work on extended monitor.
Is it correct or Do I made something wrong configuration? Is it a bug? If it is a bug, how to solve this bug?
I am worry because I bough a big external monitor to watch some movies that I can not watch it.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
    Nilton

I am sorry that I have to tell you that mate, but it wont be possible to watch any kind of realtime content through your dynadock. It is not designed for that.
The USB-Connection has not enough bandwidth to transfer this amount of data that is needed to have a "real" dvi / vga picture on our monitor. It is just made for Office use, e.g. E-Mail, Word etc.
If you can, bring it back and look for another solution...

  • Connecting Dynadock to a second external monitor with a splitter

    Hey guys -
I have a Samsung Series 9 which I have connected to the Dynadock3.0. I have two additional external monitors which I wanted to connect via the dynadock. I used a vga splitter to connect to the two monitors (dell u2312hm) via vga cables and then used the vga-to-dvi converter to connect to the Dynadock. Unfortunately the computer only recognizes both the external monitors as one screen and while I am able to extend between my laptop screen and the external monitors, both the external monitors duplicate the same screen.
    Help!
