Dynamic add row/columns to data forms(11.1.1.3) v/s (11.1.2.1)

Hello All,,
There used to be an option in Hyperion planning 11.1.1.3 to Dynamic add rows in data form. I don't see this option in planning 11.1.2.1 ?
Could you please suggest how we can grant right users to add dynamic add rows and columns in data forms? or it is possible in 11.1.2.1 ?
out user want to have a feature of adding row in data forms (planning forms)
Thank you

Do you mean 11.1.2, if so then adhoc web forms really take over from adding rows as they add much more functionality.

    How about ad-hoc analysis? Have a read of this: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/hp_user/ch04s02s03.html

  • Maximum number of rows and columns in data form

    Hi,
    I wanted to know if there is a limitation to the number of rows and columns that can be displayed in a data form, in Hyperion planning 11.1.2.1 ?
    And what would be the most appropriate number of rows and columns to be included for optimum performance.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    While its a fun fact to determine how much one can stuff into a web form, the reality is: how much can a user reasonably consume in a web form?
    And what would be the most appropriate number of rows and columns to be included for optimum performance
    You will find that the answer to this is by "what design makes a web form most usable?" And no, the users don't really know what they want from a design perspective, they see it in their head, but usually what they ask for is something that would look entirely different (huge).
    The next thing to think about is the use of member selection functions in the page axis. IDescendants(Entity) in a dropdown could cause issues just as easily as too many rows - and again make the drop down unusable for a user.
    If your question is a bit more technical, then consider this (somewhat oversimplified): Web forms are constructed by a process on the server. Objects are created based on the form's definition and used by the process that builds the form. The process uses Cartesian looping (lots of iterations) to construct the form cell by cell, starting at the top left and finishing up in the bottom right. If the form has a million cells on it, then the loop and all the code within it runs a million times. The capability of the server has a lot to do with how well it can handle this request, and how many it can handle at one time.
    The result of this is gobs of HTML and JavaScript. All of this has to be sent over a network to the requesting client. The client starts receiving the web page code and has to render it in the browser and run the JavaScript. The ability to do this is limited by the browser, the OS, and the hardware that the client is running on.
    And that's just rendering the page for use.
    Now it has to be interacted with on the client machine, and changes parsed, packaged, and sent back to the server.
    So the technical answer is, there can be many limitations to how many rows and columns a data form can have - none of which can truly be anticipated by anyone. This is why I put the part about usability first in this post.

  • Allow users to Dynamically add rows

    Hi,
    While creating form I found an option "Allow users to Dynamically add rows".I have requirement so that users should be able to create new lines if required for new TBHs. How does this option works, could some one let me know?
    Thanks,
    Ravii

    Hi,
    If the user has write access to the form and the option is selected to "Allow users to dynamically add rows" then when the user runs the form he has the option in the menu (Edit > Add Row)
    This will then open a window where the user can select members for the row dimension that he has access to.
    The function does not work if you have "Suppress Missing Data" selected.
    Helpful, correct, answered?? you know you can do it.
    Cheers

  • How can i add rows in a tabular form

    Hi,
    How can i add rows in a tabular form with out updating in database and after adding the rows one by one and after filling the data then iwant to submit them all at once.Please help me on this.
    Thanks

    Hello Leandro,
    In the Add_Rows page process, there is a box for "Number Of Rows". Change that value and you change the number of rows that get added. The default is 1.

  • Add row button on tabular form works from time to time

    Hi!
    we have two environments (dev & prod) with 10gR2 and APEX 3.2.1.00.12 (installed from one and only setup file)
    we have developed application on dev and moved it to prod,
    and on prod it was discovered that - from time to time (not always) -
    when you press 'add row' button on tabular form,
    tabular form does not display new record on the page,
    if number of records exceeds number of records allowed to show
    (i.e. with 10 records maximum it works fine when you add records from 1 to 10 and can't add record 11)
    but - interestingly - increases number of rows in pagination by 1
    (e.g. "rows 10-20 of 35" changes to "rows 10-20 of 36").
    on dev this tabular form works correctly.
    what is it and how to heal it?..
    I recall I had same issue in prior releases (3.0 - 3.1), is it known issue?

    It seems to be true:
    - if there is ascending order on columns which fields are null in new line (have no default value), new row is visible in current "pagination" page
    - but if there is DEScending order OR ANY sort order is set on columns which fields are NOT null in new line (have default value), new row is NOT visible in current "pagination" page
    thank you!

  • Dynamic period columns in data forms?

    Hi,
    We are running HFM v11.1.1.3
    I have some input data forms that shows some different periods and scenarios, however the periods sometimes needs to be changed, so I was wondering if anyone knows a way in doing this dynamic?
    For January we would like it to be:
    C1=S#Actual.Y#CUR.P#CUR
    C2=S#Actual.Y#CUR.P#CUR-1
    C3=S#FYE.Y#CUR.P#CUR
    and in March it should be:
    C1=S#Actual.Y#CUR.P#CUR
    C2=S#Actual.Y#CUR.P#CUR-1
    C3=S#FYE.Y#CUR.P#CUR
    C4=S#FYE.Y#CUR.P#CUR-2
    in June and September it should be
    C1=S#Actual.Y#CUR.P#CUR
    C2=S#Actual.Y#CUR.P#CUR-1
    C3=S#FYE.Y#CUR.P#CUR
    C4=S#FYE.Y#CUR.P#CUR-3
    so basically this would require 3 different forms, and with linked forms as well it will be many forms. So if there could be build in some kind of if statement?
    Thank you in advance
    Best regards
    Kenneth

    Hi Kenneth,
    Nobody is answering you because there is no way to do that with Data Forms.
    If you are skilled with Excel, and if you understand the implications of going that path, you can create dynamic Excel grids that send data to HFM using HFM functions.
    Depending on your needs and your budget, you can also create a custom web application that would replace data forms.
    If you want to stick with data forms, then you will need to create 3 forms (+the linked forms you mentioned).
    Not sure that helped...

  • Can't add row to sorted tabular form

    I have a very basic tabular form created using the wizard. The only significant change I made was to the sort order. When I click on the add row button, the new blank row is created at the top of the table. When the number of rows in the table grew beyond the page size (10), the blank row seems to be created at the top, but the form goes to the last page of data so the blank row is never displayed.
    If I remove the ordering then the blank row is added at the bottom and the automatic navigation to the last page shows the blank row.
    How can I modify this behaviour - either add the blank row at the end, or display the first page when adding rows.
    Table Structure
    dt_id (populated by trigger)
    dt_date
    dt_meal_type varchar2
    dt_food varchar2
    Sort order is (dt_date desc, dt_meal_type)
    Apex 2.1.0.00.39 on XE

    Vikas,
    I've had a look at your javascript idea. It took a little bit of figuring out but I think I understand it. I had to modify it a bit so that it cleared the values (I'm not trying to clone anything - I just want a blank record).
    After spending a whole morning on this I still have 2 fairly serious outstanding issues:
    a) When I enter some values into my new blank record and hit Submit nothing seems to be saved and the record just seems to get lost (I suspect I have cleared out some important hidden fields or something)
    b) It doesn't work if the table is blank and I am trying to enter the very first record.
    I'm sure it's possible to fix these issues but I am no javascript expert and I have come to the conclusion that it just isn't worth investing any more time.
    The benefit of Application Express to me is that it is a simple declarative development environment. There are many things I need to be concerned about and javascript just isn't one of them.
    Whilst I wait for the tabular forms functionality to mature, I think I will go back to the good old report + Edit button style.
    Thanks,
    Alastair
    PS. Here is the script I added to the region header (I removed everything I didn't understand and added it back in as and when I needed it):
    <script>
    function addRow()
    var col = html_GetElement('NAME'); // NAME is just an arbitrary column in my table
    var tab = html_CascadeUpTill(col,'TABLE');
    var row1 = tab.rows[1];
    var clone = row1.cloneNode(true);
    var elements = clone.getElementsByTagName('input');
    for (var j=0;j<elements.length;j++) elements[j].value="";
    myNewRow = tab.insertRow(tab.rows.length);
    myNewClone = myNewRow.replaceNode(clone);
    </script>

  • How to dynamically change the column in tabular form

    Hi!
    Is there any way to show notice in tabular form if value entered is not in some range?
    eg. I click on button add row, and then I fill out values and if one value is not within a certain range then in last column (this column is not included in table) is notice out of range or something else. I know that this can be achieved with validations but this must be just notice, not some restriction. Values I wrote must be inserted into table.
    I hope you understand me. I use Apex 4.1 and 11g Oracle database.
    Regards,
    drama9346

    Sure you can. If you edit your page attributes you have a field javascript on load. Here you can enter code that does checks or actions depending of user events. Example in the case of a tabular form:
    $('input[name=f01]').live('change', function(){
    if($(this).val()=='1'){
    alert('value is 1');}
    This will give an alert if you change the item in the first column to 1.

  • Add Row in Master Detail Form

    Hi all,
    I wonder if there is a way to just Add Row in the master detail (tabular) form without actually submitting the page. So if user has updated any existing row before clicking the Add Row button, the update should not be submitted by Add Row button click. If this is possible, then I want to submit (insert) the newly added row as well as any updates made to the existing rows when user click the "apply changes" button.
    Any luck?
    Thanks for the help.
    Milaan

    Hi Andy,
    Thanks for your response. Here is what I am doing... On submit I am calling another page (popup) for user to enter electronic signature. So when they add row (which is a submit), it calls the electronic signature page popup, and only upon entering the signature (nuisance at this point) it adds a row in the tabular form. Is there a way to change this behavior to not to submit the page every time user click Add row button?
    Thnx

  • Custom Columns in Data Form

    Hi All,
    Is it possible to group few columns in a data form and give it a name ? Say I have many columns in a data form , I want to group randomly few columns and call it as a "Main group" , and for few columns I want to group and called it as "Sub group" . How can we acheive this ? Please help

    There's no such functionality within forms themselves.  However, you could create an alternate hierarchy called "Main Group" and "Sub Group" in your dimensions, and then use that alternate hierarchy to drive your forms.  Then make sure "Start Expanded" is not checked in the column dimension Display Properties (assuming you want the form to open with the group collapsed).
    Hope this helps,
    - Jake

  • How can I dynamicly add control elements to a  form

    Hello,
    I want to dynamicly add elements to a JPanel.
    The elements with the properties are stored in a database
    each record contains one element
    Label
    Combobox
    Checkbox
    I`m programming in NetBeans 5.5
    Something like:
    public void test()
    try
    stmt = GeneralDBConnect.createStatement();
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery("select device_option_id, objecttype, device_option, size, location, tooltip from device_option where ...");
    int i = 0;
    if(rs.next())
    i = i + 1;
    switch(rs.getString(2))
    case "Label" : JLabel Element[i] = new JLabel();
    Element.setText(rs.getString(3));
    break;
    case "Textbox" : JTextField Element[i] = new JTextField();
    break;
    case "Combobox" : JComboBox Element[i] = new JCombobox();
    Element[i].setToolTipText(rs.getString(6));
    ResultSet List = stmt.executeQuery("select device_option_value_id, option_value from device_option_value where ...");
    while(List.next)
    Element[i].addItem(List.getString(2));
    List.close();
    break;
    case "Checkbox" : JCheckBox Element[i] = new JCheckBox();
    break;
    jPanel_Device_Option.add(Element[i])
    rs.close();
    stmt.close();
    catch (SQLException ex)
    ex.printStackTrace();
    I know the Element[i] is wrong code but I need to give the elements an unique name.
    Can anyone assist me in this matter

    Hello everybody,
    I figured it out. I had to change the layout model of the JPanel.
    I`ve chosen to use the gridbaglayout because its very flexibel. See http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/layout/gridbag.html
    Here is my code:
    Description:
    Whenever an item in a Combobox is changed (representing devices) the optional elements (a collection of Textfields, checkboxes, comboboxes) are shown in a JPanel.
    Which Elements are shown is stored in a database. (Tabels device, device_option and device_option_value (stores the JCombobox items))
    First create a JPanel in the graphical editor and right click it choose set layout\gridbaglayout
            jPanel_Device_Option.setLayout(new java.awt.GridBagLayout());
            jPanel_Device_Option.setBorder(javax.swing.BorderFactory.createTitledBorder("Device Options"));
            jPanel_Device_Option.setAutoscrolls(true);Then to create an empty border so the elements don`t clip to the edge of the JPanel add the following code in the properties window in the code section under node "Post-Init code"
            Border bBorder = jPanel_Device_Option.getBorder();
            Border bMargin = new EmptyBorder(0,10,0,10);
            jPanel_Device_Option.setBorder(new CompoundBorder(bBorder, bMargin));Then declare the public variables at the beginning of the code
        public static ArrayList aDatasetElements;
        public static JLabel[] aLabel;
        public static JLabel[] aTextfieldLabel;
        public static JTextField[] aTextfield;
        public static JLabel[] aComboboxLabel;
        public static JComboBox[] aCombobox;
        public static JLabel[] aCheckboxLabel;
        public static JCheckBox[] aCheckbox;And now the method that`s creating the elements
      public void setOutputSettings()
          jPanel_Device_Option.removeAll();//Clear all existing elements from the JPanel
          jPanel_Device_Option.repaint();//Refresh the JPanel
          if(jComboBox_Output.getSelectedItem().toString().length() > 0)//Check if any elements should be added
              GridBagConstraints gbConstraint = new GridBagConstraints();//Create a new gridbagcontraint (properties of layout) check http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/layout/gridbag.html
              gbConstraint.fill = GridBagConstraints.HORIZONTAL;
              gbConstraint.anchor = GridBagConstraints.PAGE_START;
              gbConstraint.weightx = 0.5;
              try
                  stmt = GeneralDBConnect.createStatement();
                  /*Collect data from the database (Which elements should be displayed)
                      deviceoption: The name of the option this is displayed in the elements label as text
                      tooltip: Show a tooltip on both label and element
                      device_optio_id: gets the ID needed to get the list values for a combobox also easy to use when getting the data afterwards (stored in a public variable
                      objecttype: Label, Textfield, Checkbox, Combobox*/
                  ResultSet rsElements = stmt.executeQuery("select device_option, tooltip, device_option_id, objecttype from device_option where deviceid = (select device_id from device where devicename = \'" + jComboBox_Output.getSelectedItem() + "\') order by sequence_order asc");
                  aDatasetElements = new ArrayList(); // Makes an array
                  while(rsElements.next()) //get data in arraylist (a resultset closes after a while (garbitch collector) resulting in errors I recieved some errors resulset allready closed. Also needed to acces data afterwards
                      aDatasetElements.add(new String(rsElements.getString(1)) + " ;" + new String(rsElements.getString(2)) + ";" + new Integer(rsElements.getInt(3)) + ";" + new String(rsElements.getString(4)));
                  rsElements.close();

    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, sList);
    I hope ths is helpfull information.
    Since I`m totally new to Java it is possible that a different approach is better however this is working for me.
    I`m open for any remarks on the code and feel free to give any comments.

  • Add rows to a tabular form (v1.6)

    I have 2 tabular forms on a single page (It started as a master and detail with detail). The second add button which is adding empty rows at the end of the report region keeps adding the empty rows to the first tabular report.
    I don't see a setting that will allow me to adjust this behavior.
    Is having 2 tabular regions on a single page not supported?

    Hi Helen
    >
    I am using APEX 4.1.1 on 11gXE and Windows Vista.
    I have created a tabular form on a page. When the page loads I want the addrow() to be called x number of times where x is the value returned from a select list(1 through to 10) off another page. So if the value 3 is selected addRow() is called 3 times. This is similar to Denes Kubicek's example but I'm looking at using a dynamic action instead. Here's the link to Denes's

    I've created a dynamic action that fires when the page loads and executes the following code:
    var i=0,z=$v('P1_NO_ITEMS');
    >
    JavaScript works only on elements in the HTML DOM. Once you have navigated away from Page 1 the P1_NO_ITEMS cannot be accessed in JavaScript.
    >
    while (i<z)
    addRow();
    i++;
    When I set P1_NO_ITEMS to 3 and go to the tabular form page it loads but doesn't add 3 blank rows to the form. I've tried hard coding a value into the javascript and that works fine. eg
    var i=0,z=3;
    When I add an alert into the code the value of P1_NO_ITEMS seems to be undefined and I get a blank for its value. If I check session state P1_NO_ITEMS has a value of 3.
    Any ideas where I'm going wrong? I have a feeling it's something simple...>
    Change z=$v('P1_NO_ITEMS'); to z='&P1_NO_ITEMS.';Cheers,

  • How to Add a new Currency in HFM Data form and grid (Rates)

    Hi Gurus,
    Am very new to this forum.
    Can someone explain me how to add a new currency to the existing data for or grid in the Workspace.
    Regards,
    Vinod

    Hi Sandeep,
    To add a new currency in Metadata, just add in Currencies dimension, and to add in Data form-just send the script what you are using as of now for rest of the currencies, or follow the same steps as specified above. or just add the script A#CLORATE.w#Periodic.C2#XYZ in rows of your data form (where XYZ- is the new currency).
    To add a new location in FDM login to FDM web client- click on Metadata--> locations and select the Controls review location where you want to add the data load location, right click and add the new location.
