How do we can configure Dynamic DNS server on Solaris 10 OS , in Linux boxes we can use "dnssec-kegen" and associate with dhcpd.conf , how like same we can do with solaris ,

A problem logging in in Solaris Express Developer Edition 05/07

Hi all.
I just upgraded Solaris 10 11/06 to Solaris Express Developer Edition 05/07 on a Sun Ultra 20 M2 and a strange problem arose: after root has logged in in a Gnome session, then when another user tries to log in in Gnome everything slows down: the login screen with "Window manager" takes some 20 secs to go away and then "Panel" sticks there... The only option is killing X with ctrl+alt+backspce. This only happens if root logs in with Gnome, and not in CDE. If root doesn't log in, nothing strange happens ever.
The problem seems unrelated with the user that logs in:
- existing users which could login in Solaris 10 11/06 now have this problem
- new users have this problem too...
Rebooting the machine and never logging in to Gnome with root "solves" the problem.
Has anyone ever had this problem?
Can be a problem relating to upgrading?

Hi Folks,
there is no doubt that Solaris began shining lately . I'm thinking to install it on my laptop as an alternative to linux to develop web applications .
some issues are bothering my a lot, I'll name them to you ,so we can decide together :
1. ruby official website does not provide a solaris package, how to develop Rails websites then ?
2. Mono has no official package for x86 machines running solaris , only Solaris 8 (Sparc) is supported .
I'm very interested in Solaris, especially Developer edition , eager to start to installing it !
what do you think ?

I think I hope it installs, especially on a laptop system. It failes to install on every desktop system here, I wouldn't dare put it in my laptop and see what it says. Laptops usually have a more esoteric hardware configuration than desktop systems.
For you I really don't see the benefit of switching operating systems just to develop web applications. If you were a Java developer developing J2EE web applications then Solaris and it's integrated Java Enterprise system and first-rate developer tools would be a great change, but for Ruby on Rails and Mono - I don't see the point.
For Ruby there may be a package available, check the OpenSolaris website and see if it has been ported over (it most probably has been, but I haven't checked yet).
For Mono... I don't see the point in developing .NET web applications for Linux/Solaris, so I won't go there. Mono is a joke compared to Microsoft's .NET platform.

Solaris 10 (with several updates) is the current release version of the Solaris operating system.
Since the release in '05, Sun has been developing the "next" version of Solaris. Using the OpenSolaris code as a base, this version is codenamed "Nevada". Periodic builds of this version are available as Solaris Express. So you get more up-to-date drivers, features, and bugs from it. Because it's under development, there are no patches. Instead you'd need to upgrade to the next release (or create your own patch).
I haven't looked specifically at S1 Grid, so it very likely will install. However installations on Solaris Express may not be a supported configuration if you need that.

Solaris Express, Dev. Edition 2/07 install problem

Im trying to install the solaris express developer edition 2/07 dvd i got in the mail.
Everything goes fine until i have to set up the hard drive for installation. I have two hard drives, 1 SATA (Server 2003), and a 20Gb IDE for this Solaris install.
When i click next to start installing, it drops out with an error against Solaris Software. the error is as follows:
ERROR: Could not create Fdisk partition table.
ERROR: Could not label disks
ERROR: Could not update disks with new configuration
ERROR: System installation failed

Im not a nub to linux but i have never used solaris and its been a few years since i've touched it - but im familiar with console.

You do not supply more comprehensive info on Your hardware. Therefore I would like to suggest quite conservative approach.
1. First of all it will be helpful to get from SUN's website the "Install check tool". It is an image (bootable CD) of diagnostic soft.
2. Disable in Bios the SATA disk.
3. Boot the computer with "Install_check_tool" CD inserted into the drive. I hope that this diagnostics will be OK.
4. Restart the computer and start Solaris installation. You can perform this step directly after step no. 2. Now Bios will see only IDE disc and installation should proceed OK. If not - supply more info on Your hardware and resulting (in this situation) diagnostics.

Solaris 10 express developer ed. dvd checksum error

I downloaded the solaris 10 express developer ed. dvd. I used Sun Download manager for the download. the file e had checksum error. Hence the DVD contains checksum error. Is there any way we could correct the download without the need re-download the entire file. Other files ending a,b,c,e dont have this problem. Am i the only one getting this problem or is it a known issue?

Advantages of opensolaris or developer edition?

Hi,
noob question. So far I have been using SunStudio12 on Ubuntu 7.04-8.04 with no problems. Now I got my hands on OpenSolaris and SolarisExpress DEveloper edition's DVDs. Are there any fundamental advantages of migrating to either of this OSes in terms of development platforms?
I use SunStudio for basic to intermediate Fortran programming.

H-mm, long time and no answer? :-) I know 2 cool features in Solaris, that do not exist in Linux world yet:
1. ZFS
2. D-Trace
The last one is supported in Sun Studio - there is D-Light Tool, which provides an ability to run D-Trace
scripts and view the results in GUI (as a Timeline chart). These features are not Fortran oriented, but
they can help to make a Fortran application run faster.

NetWeaver Developer Edition: Workspace Server Error every 2 Minutes

I installed SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP 7.02 SP6 32-bit - Developer Edition on Windows XP 32 Bit in a Virtual Machine with Virtual Box. My Host hase got 8 GB RAM and 4 x >3Ghz Processor and I gave 4GB Ram and 2 Cores to the Virtual Machine. 
The Installation was ok and the Systems works. But now I began to do some exercises (Add 2 Tables and some Types) and now Windows tells me after 2 Minutes I'm logged on Disp+Work.Exe --> an error occured. Then the SAP Workspace Server is rebooted and I can log on for the next 2 minutes.

Now I saw in syslog in SAPMMC that when I start the ApplicationServer "NSP" ive got an Error:
"Communications data: Service initialization failed" (Process Type RD, PID 03356 , Message ID S10 But message_server.exe and disp+work.exe are running green and i can log on into sap. and then after 1 minute the explaned error occurs.(WorkspaceProcess is restarted and sapsession breaks down - i have to log on again)

Please check the value of the parameter PHYS_MEMSIZE in the file <Drive>:\usr\sap\NSP\SYS\profile\NSP_DVEBMGS00_testsap . Set the value to 2048M. Also set the page file size to 10GB. Ensure you have space on disk to allocate space for paging.

The following is the basic setup for DDNS on the AirPort using AirPort Utility v5x:
AirPort Utility > Select the base station > Manual Setup >AirPort > Base Station tab > Edit ...
Use dynamic global hostname (checked)
Hostname: <enter your DDNS service domain here>

Password: <enter your DDNS user account password>
Click "Done."

Programmatically create objects and formulas in Crystal Reports XI Developer edition?

Is it possible to programatically/dynamically create a text, line, formula field object, etc. in Crystal XI Developer edition? I have been programming with the Crystal .Net reports component that came with VS 2005 for the past 6 months and know for a fact you can't programmatically create those objects although you can programmatically control their properties. My intention is to create a dynamic report that can be reused extensively. My current work-around for this was to create a generic report with about 40 formula field objects which draws data from 40 corresponding formula fields that I can programmatically set it's formula thus imitating a report field. I want to update to the developer edition because I heard with this edition we can programmatically create and manipulate these objects but I found no reference or examples anywhere that proves we can do this? Does anyone know for a fact or point me to the right place to look for documentation? TIA

How can I programmatically refresh list of values status on CR server XI R2?
Currently, after I modified the data source in the data connection, some of the LOVs in the report prompt window became empty when I tried to generate the report. I have to use Business View Manager to log onto the Crystal reports server XI R2, find and double click the list of values object to bring up the Edit LOV window, and then click on "Refresh Status" button to make the LOV available in the report prompt window.
What SDK should I use to create a simple application (preferable a desktop application) to find all LOV objects on CR server XI R2 and to refresh their status? That is an application similar to the "Refresh Status" function in Business View Manager.
I found Report Engine SDK has the Lov.Refresh function to refresh LOV. On the other hand, Report Engine SDK seems to be for BusinessObjects Enterprise, not for Crystal Reports Server. Can this or other function achieve what I want, i.e. to refresh list of values status on CR server XI R2? If yes, can I use it to develop a self-contained desktop application instead of a web application? I only need to run this application after I modify the data source in the data connection, so I prefer not need to deploy it as a web service.
