Dynamic flash text in Dreamweaver...

I made a flash file which load dynamic text for external .txt
file into a scroll box. Now, when I add the swf file into my .aspx
page in dreamweaver there is a problem. The scroller load alright
but the text is not shown up.
( i saved the txt folder into the same folder of ny site so
it's not the problem.)
I work with CS3 and built my project by AS3.
thanks,
KDEN

  • Script Dynamic Flash Text

I am wondering if anyone knows a way to tag text for flash export using scripting. Basically I need to be able to set the Flash text attributes for TextFrames in the document using scripting. I know this is only available in CS3. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Hello Rebecca,
I've spent about an hour poking through the DOM without finding any obvious handles for the flash text export options.
My only suggestion at this point is that you try just importing .ai artwork into Flash, and once it's on the stage, then (create and) use a jsfl script to walk your object tree and convert your text object properties.
I ::think:: this should get you close to what you are wanting.  Let me know how it goes.
    cheers,

  • Dynamic Flash banner in Dreamweaver

    Hi Everyone,
I am using Dreamweavers' Development toolkit and can upload
images such as JPG and GIF files to my server and add their file
name to a MySQL database. This allows me to then dynamically recall
them and add a rand() function to the recordset for a banner
    application.
My challenge is that I want to also be able to upload flash
(swf) files to my server and add the file name to the database.
Thant I can do, whoever when I go to display them through a
recordset, the normal JPG etc images show but not the swf files.
Can anyone help me find a solution?
    Many thanks in advance.

  • Dynamic Flash text in Director MX

    Hi,
I have a presentation which needs to display user-changable
messages. I have a flash file that reads from a .txt file. Every
time the flash file opens, it reads the new text, updates, and
    everything is great. I'm using
    loadVariablesNum("/dynamic.txt", 0);
to read the text from the file.
But, when i put that flash file in Director, the text stops
updating. I made sure the file was linked externally. I'm sure it's
a simple code fix in director, but can't figure it out.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hello,
The AS below works getting fresh data from a server, not sure
    about locally,
you tag a random bit of text at the end of what you're
    grabbing, and it
makes Flash think it's a new file everytime. I'm an AS noob,
    but this might
    help.
    randVar=Math.random()*9999;
    loadVariablesNum("/dynamic.txt?" + randVar, 0);

  • Flash text "Invalid file name" error in Dreamweaver

I'm trying to create some flash text in Dreamweaver. But
after I've formatted the text in the dialog box and hit save, I get
the message "invalid file name" for my top.swf name. Can't figure
out why I'm getting the message, and it's not working. Anyone???
Working on this for a class and need to get my assignment done!
    Thanks in advance!

I'm guessing there is a "funky" character in the hd name or
    in the path down
    to the "local site folder"
    please do this:
open a new file using File->New
    --->do not save this file<---
type some text, select it, and make a link to something in
    this site using
the property inspector folder icon to bring up the "browse to
    file" dialog
    box.
view source, copy that link, and paste into your reply.

  • Link flash text to center frame

    Hello,
I generated a flash text with dreamweaver. This text should
be a link that opens in the center target frame. The problem is
that I cannot choose the center frame as target (only self, parent,
blank, top).... . What can I do to make the link open in the center
    frame?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jeremy

that' just the code to place the swf file. You need to get
    into the .fla file...
However, I think I see what you mean... if you're creating
this entirely in Dreamweaver, then you probably don't have access
to the actual actionscript. It's also limiting when you just place
an flv within Dreamweaver because you can delete skins and many
    other things.
how did you generate the text animation within
    Dreamweaver?

  • Problem displaying dynamically loaded text in Flash CS3

I created a Flash CS3 application that does not display
dynamically loaded text (from internal AS3 scripts) on 3/6 of my
client's computers. All computers run IE 6 and Flash Player 9. I
cannot replicate the problem on any computer in my department. The
problem seems to be related to Flash Player 9 or a browser
setting/IT restriction. Has anyone encountered this? If so, have
    you found a solution?
If I cannot find a solution, then I will need to almost
    completely redo the application.
One slightly insane idea I have considered is to, if
possible, convert dynamically loaded text to an image real-time. Is
    that possible?
Btw, I have created a font in my library. Should I try
manually embedding the font from the Properties menu and selecting
    all characters?
    Thanks in advance.

yes, even though you may be using a font from the library,
you still have to specify that each text field that uses that font
embeds the font, and you'll need to select all characters(well not
all, unless you require all the different scripts of the world -
upper-case, lower-case, numerals and punctuation usual suffices).
I bet if you checked, the computers where the font did not
appear did not have the font on their system.
    Good luck

  • Dreamweaver flash text

I tried to manually edit the code with wmode transparency
settings, but it's still not working. I'm using the Dreamweaver CS3
Flash Text tool to create vector clean text and would like
    background to be transparent

I don't believe you can do that with the Flash text tool. You
would just need to match the color.
Also it would be a good idea to not get too used to using the
Flash Text tool as the function is deprecated and will be
    discontinued in all future versions.

  • Previewing Flash Button in Dreamweaver

When I insert the Flash Button/Movie into the Dreamweaver doc
and preview in browser, I only see a placeholder.
I created a simple Flash "movie" with some dynamic text
functioning as a button layered over the animation.
It previews fine in flash, and when I play the animation in
the Dreamweaver document it looks fine but when I try to preview it
in the browser from the Dreamweaver document all I see is a Flash
placeholder. Is this something that will change when the page is
published or is there something else I should try?

If you want to use Flash for navigation, consider this -
    1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
    Especially
consider those people who are browsing from a corporate
    internet where Flash
is not allowed by the IT staff.
    2. Search engines may not parse Flash links - your site will
    not be
spidered unless you have redundant HTML links
    3. Screen assistive devices don't parse Flash links - what
    will those users
    do?
    4. DW cannot maintain links within a Flash movie, so if you
    move or rename
a linked file, your navigation will break - what will you do?
    You will have
    to remake those buttons.
It's usually a very bad idea for these reasons - and for
    these reasons,
Adobe has removed Flash buttons and Flash text from CS4.

  • Flash buttons in dreamweaver 8

    Hi,
i am having a problem with inserting flash button in
dreamweaver 8, when i insert the buttons it appears on the page as
a grey box with "F"(flash) and not displaying the proper text. The
user is a standard windows users and has not administrator
privilidges. but if an administrator loggs into the pc and does the
exact same process then the flash button work.
has anyone come across this problem ? does anyone know how to
    resolve
    cheers
    david

You'll need to go back into Flash and build the links into the buttons before you create the swf's.  Look in the Flash help docs regarding the getURL function as far as the code you'll need for linking.  If you have problems, post in the Flash AS1 and AS2 forum.
Beyond that, don't be surprised if some feedback arises here regarding using Flash buttons.

  • Missing Fonts in Flash Text List

I am using Dreamweaver CS3 on a Windows XP computer. In the
"Insert Flash Text" dialog box, in the font drop down menu, I am
not seeing all of my installed fonts. I see a few OpenType and a
few True Type fonts, but more than half of my installed fonts are
not showing up in the list. I can see all my fonts in the "Edit
Font List" box for creating font families in Dreamweaver. So I know
parts of Dreamweaver can see all of my fonts.
I am totally stumped why some fonts aren't available for
    flash text. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    it, if anything?
What has always replaced it - images, or some image
    replacement technique
    like sIFR, or TIP.

You mean you are taking a class from an Adobe Certified
    Instructor, and
he/she is requiring that? Who is that? What a waste of class
    time....

  • Flash Text not displaying certain fonts

    Thanks as always…
I am trying to use Flash text for some headings, but after an
hour of pulling my hair out I've just realised it will only display
certain fonts, such as Helvetica etc.
I added the font I want to use to my font list but it still
    does not display…
I'm using MX on OSX 10.3.9.
    Any ideas? Thansk.

Is your text in a dynamic text box, or static text box in
    flash?
I don't think the issue concerns the "true-type" or not
    "true-type" font.
In Flash, when text is part of a dynamic text box (which I
assume is the case in your situation),
then the font works just like in an html page:
if the font is installed on the computer it will show, if
not, it won't. The way around this, is to
embed the font data in the authoring flash file, and link it
to the dynamic text box, via actionScript.
So if you cannot work on the authoring Flash file with Flash
MX or Flash8, and if indeed we're
talking about a dynamic text box, your only option is to use
    a web-safe font.
