Dynamic Footnotes in WAD

Can we make footnotes in the WAD to be dynamic?
The footnotes are pertinent to the applicable month and are maintained by the business user.
we want to make sure that we will be able to link the footnotes to the report and report period.
how can we achieve this

Are you on NW04s? Documentation says that you can create footnotes using the report designer. However I am not sure whether they can be dynamic.

what do you mean by Dynamic ?
The text can be from XML and if you use @section in for-each, then for each section you can get diff footnotes.

Dynamic Header in WAD

Hi All
i developed 4 reports in Bex.
i have to integrate them in WAD.
But in the WAD report i have to display the "country" field at the header level dynamically.
any body please help me me to do this

Do this...
You have user entry variable for the country, wherever you want to display the country at use the web item TEXT Element and attach the query which has country variable to this text element. In the property of the text element, click on "Display Variable Value".
that will display the country the user entered.
Please don't forget to assign when the functionality is available.

How to use both Static and dynamic Reports in WAD using a single template.

Hi,
I have 2 reports - Report1 & Report2. Report1 is a static report with 3 column in it. In WAD user does not want to see the third series in the chart so I have made series3 invisible in the chart.
I am calling the Report2 via 'SET_DATA_PROVIDER_PARAMETERS' in the button option.
Now the issue is that, Report2 is a dynamic report which is using a calyear vaiable range. As Report2 is using the template of Report1, Series3 of Report2 also gets hidden.
Any solution for this?

Hi Nisha,
After setting the Report 2 DP thru SET_DATA_PROVIDER_PARAMETERS, you can use one more command SET_ITEM_PARAMETERS on the Chart webitem & edit the Series to make it visible. If there is a way to reset the DP back to Report 1, then you must once again use SET_ITEM_PARAMETERS to hide the Series.
Or you can use another Chart webitem for Report 2 DP & make the Chart webitem for Report 1 hidden & the Chart webitem for Report 2 visible using SET_ITEM_PARAMETERS after setting Report 2 DP using SET_DATA_PROVIDER_PARAMETERS.

How to show dynamic text in WAD-Template

Dear BW-Community,
We are von BW 3.5.
can someone guide me, how to display a dynamic text (depends on the comparision between two entered variables) in a WAD-Template?
example: if var1 = var2 then the text should be text1 otherwise text text2.
Hope this is quite simple as it sounds.

I created one WAD report.
In that report ,in header part i want to display the "country" dynamically.
means if user enters customer no1 then INDIA has to display.
if user enters customer no2 then USA has to display there.
How can i do this?

Do you have this relationship between the customer and the country stored in your system? If yes, then you can also display the country as the attribute value.

Dynamic Selection in WAD.

Hi,
I have 3 Queries, each has same variable name (Calendar Date). Also I created 3 views with same selection as input.
Now Created one WAD and assigned these 3 views in different cells. In WAD property I have disabled the variable screen display option. Now when I execute the WAD, by default it is getting execute with the selection which I have given while creating views.
My requirement is to place the drop down box at the top of WAD and assigned the calendar date variable to that. Also instead of taking the selection value from view, it should dynamically run for last 7 days. Is there any functionality to achieve this?

Hi.
Fist add TEXT webitem above your chart.
Goto databinding in webitem properties, seelct "simple text" and write your text (lets asy "Report for period").
Then after TEXT webitem add INFO_FIELD webitem.
In "internal display" in properties set ONLY_VALUES = ON (it will remove the name of variable before value of variable).
In data binding set your dataprovider adn in "list of text elements to display" select "variable value" and select your variable.

bi:QUERY value= dynamic in the WAD. How to do it ?

I need to define the query name somehow when the WAD is executed.
We have one common web template for all of our queries and that is why I need to dinamicaly say in the WAD code that if the query tech is ZTEST then the real value should be ZTEST_DOC, which is a separate query where we have to store the documents.
How to do this ?

During runtime you can get the query ID using text elemets, then using java script you can generate the query document format by appending ther required text to the query ID.

Dynamic URL in WAD

Hi all,
I created a web template in Web Application Designer 3.5, contains several table items from several InfoCubes (DataProviders). It should be the firs view for a user.
Next to each table item I need to put a button (or a link) pointing to a different web template (more detail data or role menu items, ...).
I'm able to do this, but the URLs of the buttons are static - pointing to current WEB server (BW development). After a transport of this web template to BW production server, the URL should be changed to BW prod. server.
How to create the URLs to always point to current BW web server?

Control footnote column width and placement?

Hello,
My client used dynamic footnotes, which I find frustrating to deal with.
I have a 3-column layout (see attached image) and the footnotes are falling in the column in which the
reference shows up. But I want to have footnotes preferably always fall in the leftmost column
and stretch across at least 2 columns. I feel like I've done this before but don't recall how I controlled them.
Is there any way to do this?
Also, the footnotes seem to be in sort of table-like cells. If I turn on "show frame edges,"
I see blue lines surrounding each footnote. I have paragraph style set to 1p above but that only refers
to the entire block of footnotes. How can I add space between each footnote?

this is HTML matter. AFAIK It isn't possible to set row height. Workaround:
Suppose your first column has name COL01, then edit column attribute HTML Expresion like this: <div style="height:50px; overflow:auto;">#COL01#</div>
Than every row will be at least 50 pixels high, more if cell content in another column will be too long to fit in. But you can do the same thing for all columns and than you will have exactly 50 pixels high rows and scrollbars in every cell with long text.

I am trying to build a dynamic calculator in WAD which is as similar to one in Executive view in Cognos. The problem i am facing is, i can able to build a normal calculator by using java script but i am unable to read the key figure values from the analysis item on from the data provider in to by calculator by using on click function. I wanted to get the all the values in to a internal excel , so that my calculator can read the values from that. can any one help me on getting values in to internal excel by using java before the executing the web template ?...

I might not be understanding your question completely since you mention WAD and then Excel, but if you are asking how to get the key figure values using Javascript in WAD, you can go to the Dataprovider properties and enable 'Output Result Data'. This will embed an XML element into the HTML output that you can then parse using standard Javascript DOM navigation.

Footnotes

We only want the ones that are used on the page to appear on the footnote

I have a similar problem: Want to display some value from the database in a margin field. I created a user parameter v_Title_Crew and pressetted it in the format trigger of a formula field. Used srw.set_field_char (0, :v_Title_Crew) in the format trigger of the margin field to display the content of the variable. But unfortunately this does not work: It seems to me that the margins are prepared before the query is executed; the variable is not set. Before I simply connected the margin field to the variable in the property palette but this didn't work better. Any idea how to solve this problem?

BI Role Integration

Hi,
I see from the documentation that the Role function withing the Web Application designer has been withdrawn in 2004s. There is a comment about utilising the new BI role function within the 2004s portal but I can not find any documentation on this.
I note that the upload function is availbale but this is a manual process rather than the nice dynamic integration the WAD Role item produced.
Can someone point me in the direction of the documentation on how to use the new BI integration function (if such a thing exists)

How to set the data providers in WAD 7.0 dynamically.

Hi All,
I have 2 queries, 1 wad template and 2 data providers for each query.WAD template has one analysis item.When i run the query-1, DP1 should be set to analysis item dynamically and DP2 when i execute query 2.
