Dynamic IP for web service VIs?

Hi,
I use the LabVIEW Web Service Import Wizard to build web service VIs. I was wondering if there is any method to dynamically specify the IP address of a web service server.
In our application development, usually we would setup an internal test server running web services. Once the development is finished, we would deploy the server with a new IP address. We'd then need to import the web services again and change the VI links in order for the new program to work. It would be nice if we can just change the server IP address instead.

Hello ! Has anyone found a working solution to this problem yet ? The URL can be changed just like Joe explains, but at least for me this is not a solution. My application is Still trying to connect to the IP Address of the PC from where the Web Service methods were originally imported and it doesn't make difference if I feed another IP address into the url.
It seems the fixed IP Address was stored somehow directly into the WebServiceInterface.dll itself, when the Web Service was first imported.
I guess one workaround would be to install the LabVIEW into the same PC where the Web Service is located and import the Web Service there using "localhost" instead of IP Address. But this helps (? - haven't tried yet) only if I run my application on the server computers. If I install my application on some client PC the application is probably trying to connect to "localhost" and it won't work.
I wonder if this annoying problem has been fixed in 2010, or if there's another workaround ?

but this piece of code can work only in UI. what if i need to do the same approach in model from my AM.

How to get the list of values for a dynamic parameter using Web Services SDK?

I am struggling to get the list of values for a dynamic parameter of a report.I am using Java Web Services SDK ... I tried to use PromptInfo.getLOV().getValues() method but it does not work.First of all ... is this possible (to get the list of values for a dynamic param) using Web Services?Second of all, if this is possible, how should I do it ... it seems it works fine when running the report from CMC. It asks for DB logon info and after that it provides a list of values.Thx 

Your assumption is correct. We are trying to get the LOVs from the Crystal Report. I was not aware that this is not supported by Web Services SDK.We used Web Services SDK to integrated the Crystal Reports in our web application. We implemented some basic actions for reports: schedule, view instances, run ad-hoc reports.We encountered this problem when trying to run/schedule reports with dynamic parameters (a list of values from DB). We were unable to get the LOVs.Please let me know if you can think of an alternative to look at.Thanks a lot,Catalin

Error occurs when i try to install a built application containing Web services VIs

Hello,
at the moment i am trying to create and install a built application containing a Web server and Web services VIs. I did the steps as described here: http://www.ni.com/white-paper/7747/en#toc13
But when I install my application on the target PC the following error occurs after the installation:
Error2: Failed to perform action
"[LV2011RTEDIR]LVWS\NILVWSPostInstallerScript.exe"
"[ProgramFilesFolder]DeployWebServices\Webservice.lvws"
What did I do wrong? The project example is attached
Development system: LV2011 SP1, WIn7
Target PC: Win7, no LabVIEW, but ALL possible additional installer/run-times installed

Hi,
long time ago, but I can remember. You have to copy a folder.
e.g. I have the file in C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\Shared\LabVIEW Run-Time\2013\LVWS , but there is no LVWS folder in \Shared\LabVIEW Run-Time\2012
(I have a new computer, and for some reason I'm also missing the file in the LV2012 folder now.)
Try to copy from another version to 2012 U(or download my fzip). I also don't now, why it is missing. Maybe something during the LV2012 installion was wrong.

Dynamically invoking a web service.

How can i dynamically invoke a web service using jax-ws proxy?

We will need more information on your use case.
Typically, a JAX-WS proxy refers to the Java Proxy object that implements the interface for your port. If this is what you have then you could dynamically invoke it using reflection.
However, if you really want to do dynamic invocation then you should look at the Dispatch interface. You can get a Dispatch instance from your Service object and use this to issue raw requests using SOAPMessage or streams. This will require that your application have expertise in generating SOAP requests from the WSDL of the target endpoint, but this is what is typically done in enterprise service bus type products.
If that's not your use case, let us know.

Could not generate stub objects for web service invocation in ColdFusion

I was able to call the services on the development box - windows server without any problem at all, everything was working fine but the moment i uploaded to a linux box production server I get this error. "Could not generate stub objects for web service invocation in ColdFusion"
What could be the cause of this problem, i have googled a lot but no solution yet any ideas.

Let me make it simple:
1. Server A is our development server.- hosted inhouse with coldfusion installed.
2. Server B is our production server - a linux server with coldfusion installed hosted on the internet
3. Server C is a third party server containing the webservice - this is a windows server with .net
coldfusion is installed on Server A, the code works here and can connect to server C without any problem. It gets the required respone
but when the code was uploaded to server c it gives the error when we run it.
now i tried just a simple code which works fine on server A below:

Now if you try the preceeding code on a windows environment it works fine but the moment you put in the in the linux environment it generates this error
I feel that the error may actually be :

but i am clueless as to what to do next

This isn't a straight FORM Post as in the http binding support in WSDL. It posts
a soap message.
It's apparent that Workshop supports form-post and form-get.
But I dont see how it is done with straight WebLogic webservices. Does WebLogic
server read the web-services.xml or the WSDL file? I dont see a way to put in
http-post binding in the former and in the latter it seems to be ignored.
Can someone clarify.

This might be a naive question, but according to the documentation, WL 7.0 does
not support http post/get bindings for web services. Thus, for me to access a
web service, I need to write a "middle tier" of some sort (I used the automatically
generated Java proxy code and JSP). All works fine, but it seems like it would
sure be nice to have HTML forms access web services without having to write a
middle tier.
.NET does this and it is extremely useful - is there a reason that BEA chose not

WSDL error during generation of ABAP proxy for web service

Hi friends,
I am getting error during the generation of ABAP proxy object for web service developed in .NET .
Error : Proxy generation terminated: WSDL error (<extension> not supported).
How to make this WSDL file compatible for ABAP proxy.
I have tried to edit WSDL file in XML Spy but did not get any option to replace/remove the tag <extention>.
If any one worked on this. Please help me its urgent.

Why does it need to be the best one? What would that even mean? Just buy something reputable, like an O'Reilly book, it's not going to be so horrifically poor that you can't learn from it

Building client proxies for web services with SOAP attachemtns

Hi all.
I'm currently building a series of web services that take SOAP attachments as
input, but I am unable to generate the java proxies for testing the services via
WebLogic Workshop 8.1. When I attempt to build the proxy, I get the following
error:
Warning: Failed to generate client proxy from WSDL definition for this service.
Suggestion: Please verify the <types> section of the WSDL.
Is there something I need to alter to get this to work, or does workshop not support
client proxies for web services with DataHandler parameters?

use the WebLogic Server generate test web page to test it, I got Exception. The
WebLogic Server can't constructe the input XML.
The correct XML should look like this:

Is there any one can tell me whether this kind of XML was permitted for Web Service
invoking or not?

On the test page, before the invoke of the operation, did it say
something like:

if so, the service itself may be working OK, the deficiency is that the
test page tries its best to determine sample values for the invoke,
however it does not know in this case.
Did you try with a client?
Your XML should be fine.
