Dynamic language translation with XML publisher/XLIFF
Greetings all -
We are on an Oracle 11i.5.8 global environment. There is a need for some of the countries to print their bank checks in their local language. Even with pre-printed stationary etc., the existing challenge is to dynamically print the amount in words in local language. Does anyone know how to get this done?
There is a thought that XLIFF can be attached to a third-party translation software to accomplish this. Has anyone played with this?

Have two options:
1. Get the data in the correct language in your data. I know the financials modules have this functionality as a plsql pkg that that they refer to at runtime to pull in the correct strings. Look at the current check print reports in AP for details.
2. Maintain the strings in an XLIFF or other format and then pull them into the template at runtime. This is going to require some effort in the template to get the language and the strings to be translated because you will not know them until runtime.
Option 1 is probably better on performance and maintainability, plus Oracle has already done alot of the work for you, not sure how many langs are supported in the pl/sql but check it out.

Integration with XML Publisher
Has anyone found out or used the integration with XML Publisher? I am using the Sourcing product and it can generate report output based on XML Publisher directly from an OAF page. I was wondering how that is done.
Anyone know?I had a similar query - I heard that AR, GL, and AP (11i10) are not compatible with XML Publisher - is this true? I thought was the XML Publisher was independent of modules.
Pls share any experience with the Publisher tool - challenges, installation, comparison to Optio, etc.

Ive got everything in place for producing PDF reports via XML Publisher through ORACLE Financials but I'm stuck on the last
part.
According to the notes (Publishing Concurrent Requests with XML Publisher - An Oracle White Paper Jan 2005) I've come
across, I need to update the concurrent program definition with a default template (when you submit a request, its in the
'upon completion' last section where theres an option to change or enter a template layout) yet this section is GREYED OUT.
Now according to my notes, to create a template you..
"Setting a Default Template....to select a default template in the Update Concurrent Program page available from the System Administration
responsibility (Note that this field is available only from System Administration. It is not available from the System
Administrator Forms interface)......."
My query is, where is this 'Update Concurrent Program page'..?

Edited by: user554089 on Sep 16, 2008 4:02 AMOK, so now I've found out how to 'default a template for EBS 11i' (System Administration > Concurrent > Programs - notice its Administration not Administrator)... but its unavailable.. in the the 'OnSite Setting' tab there was no box visible for me to enter a template filename. Does anybody know why this could be?

I have Concurrent program (report) which I modified to work with XML Publisher. I change the output format to XML at the concurrent program page. Then I create the data defenition and template at XML Publisher administrator. Then I uploaded and assign the RTF template as the default template for this concurrent program.
Now I can run this report and get the output in XML report publisher .
But when I am running directly as concurrent request , I dont get any output. What am I doing wrong?

Multi-language report in XML publisher (This is urgent!!)
Hi All,
i am working on Multi-Language report. We have installed just 3 languages (English, Japaneese, Spanish) but my requirement is to display the reports in few more un-installed languages like Korea, chineese etc. I thought of doing the lables (all hard coded fields) translation using .XLIFF file. When i try to run the report, in language settings (this is the place where the XML report takes the language input) i can see only those languages which are installed. How can pass other languages (un-installed) as a parameter in the XML report?
Please suggest. It is very urgent.

FendyYes, I got it working.
Follow the instructions as mentioned in the User Guide, it will workout well.
1. Create a concurrent program with "XDODTEXE" as the Executable.
2. Create the data definition and associate a data template (this is with your sql) to it and and link the above concurrent program with this data definition.
Let me know if you need more details. Good thing about this is that you do not have to move any files on to your unix server (like in the case of oracle reports). -
Strange error with xml publisher
I was testing sub-templates on a clone of our production environment and encountered a strange error. When I run the concurrent program I get an xml publisher error and then when I do a preview in xml publisher I also get an error. These are the exact same templates that are running on are training environment with out any issue. I put an SR in with oracle and they asked me to check the status of patches. We looked at the patches on all environments and they are exactly the same. We are running Xml publisher 5.6.2., with that said oracle still thinks it has to do with a patch and have told our DBA that he needs to apply a patch for xml publisher 5.6.3 When we applied this patch it broke the two test environments that it was tested on we are still waiting for oracle to get back with use on this issue. I really do not believe it is a patch error since it works on training and the there is no difference between the patch history on training and the other environments. I am including the two errors and the templates, if you have the time and could look at the errors may be you can see what is going on. The first error is from the xml publisher preview and an the second is from the concurrent program.

the error in the CM log is caused by the java code not being able to find the template file in the template manager. Please ensure the main and subtemplates are loaded to the instance correctly.

Problem with XML Publisher report when there are no detail records.
I am working on an Oracle XML Publisher procurement report (Oracle E-Business Suite R12) that starts with a budget amount that is imported from our financial system, then lists all requisitions and orders that are in process (not approved). The amounts of all those unapproved requisitions/orders are totaled using a Sum form field, to be followed by a field where the unapproved requisition/order total is subtracted from the budget amount (amount available). I am running into a problem when there are no unapproved requisitions. When I run the report for such instances, it completes with a warning -- here is what it states in the OPP log:
oracle.xdo.parser.v2.XPathException: Extension function error: Method not found 'sum'
I have altered my sum field on the RTF template to include an if statement in case of a null value...

You are on right track. Simply put summary field in header group and remember to set reset at property to Header Group Not Child and now you can use this field in format trigger.
Format trigger must be written on header frame.

PROBLEM WITH XML PUBLISHER AND GRAPH NOT DISPLAYING IN ORACLE APPS

All you XML Gurus here. I have a problem, When i create a report in XML Publisher desktop i can see a graph im putting into the report on preview and works fine. But when i upload the report as a rtf file into Oracle applications i can see everything else the table logo and stuff .. But just not the Graph Itself when run on the concurrant manager....

Is there a way that i can use XML Desktop and create a line graph with 2 lines rather than 1 plotting

Excel Output problem with XML Publisher Report
Hi Experts,
I am working on XML Publisher report with EBS 11i and database 9i. My XML Report output type is EXCEL, i have below issue with the output.
I have column 'quantity' with xml tag <?QUANTITY?>.
In the XML file it's showing the value '028' for quantity, but when i open the output in EXCEL, it's showing up '28', removing leading zero. I want to show the data in EXCEL also '028'. Could somebody help me how to print the XML Tag value as it is in EXCEL output.

I am trying to create a OAF page with an XML Publisher report. I am not able to create a 'defaultSingleColumn' region which extends '/oracle/apps/xdo/oa/common/webui/DocumentViewerRn.MainRegion', getting a Confirm message and Validation error and they are:

When run the report through Concurrent Manager, it runs without any problem. But, when I run

Purchase Order concurrent request printing with XML Publisher
Need to use the standard Print Purchase Orders Report (Portrait) to print batches of purchase orders using the seeded XSL template that generates a PDF document. Used the white paper 295409.1 as a guide to create Data Definition and Template using the short name POXPRPOP, with seeded XML schema and XSL template. Changed POXPRPOP report output from text to XML.
Report completes successfully but gives no data. The PDF is blank. Am I missing a step or is the seeded template not compatible with the POXPRPOP report?Did you check whether your Pasta is Setup Correctly?? check the pasta configuration required for XML Publisher there are couple of utils/libraries that need to be setup on the Concurrent Manager Node

Correct - this is for a standalone install of BI Publisher and not applicable to EBS.
2. as default xml publisher is active in ebs and we can use this for our report, is it true?
Yes - you can use BI Publisher to create reports out of EBS base tables. If you are wanting to create reports out of any custom tables or remote custom databases, pl contact your Oracle salesperson for licensing issues.

BI Publisher Desktop is a development tool to design the layout of the reports. EBS includes seeded xml templates as well as design templates. When XML reports are run, these two templates are automatically used to produce the desired output.
