Dynamic link and workflow optimization help needed

As a vlogger I just tried out a brandnew method to save time and renders. Instead of editing every clip separately in After Effects and then rendering it and then do the final edit in Premiere, I just edit immediately in Premiere, then when it's finished editing I do a global color correction in AE via Dynamic link. I'm just kinda worried the results are bad. Do you think it sucks? Do you like it? Would you subscribe? Do you wanna see other vlogs?

Edit in Premier then dynamic link to AE is the usual workflow. I've been doing a bit of color grading lately but I'm still not on par with the terms a colorist would use but I think the vid has a dreary look to it. Dark, not much contrast, needs more tone? Also advice on vlogging sounds like a post for the video lounge.

Why does my Premiere CC 2014 crash every time I use "Adobe Dynamic Link" and have After Effects CC 2014 open in the background?

Here are my MacBook Specs:
MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2012)
2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB
480 GB Solid State SATA Drive
750 GB SATA Disk
I use "Adobe Dynamic Link" mainly for typography and some animation, but not to the point where it would stress out Premiere CC 2014.

It doesn't crash for everyone. A person could be forgiven for saying, in return, "Please sort out your **** system problems".
Trust me when I say many, many problems are caused by the computer system setup not being up to the needs of this cutting-edge graphics software. Photoshop is heavily dependent on the GPU, and GPU drivers are notorious for having bugs (they're primarily written to run games).
However, that being said, recent driver releases from both ATI and nVidia do actually work pretty well with Photoshop CC 2014.
What video card do you have?
What display driver version are you running?
If you're unsure how to tell these things, go into Photoshop, choose Help - System Info, copy the data, and post it here.

Dynamic Link and DSLR presets not available in CS5???

Hi, I''m downloaded Premiere CS5, but when I try to open Dynamic Link, a screen pops up and tells me that I need Production Premium in order to access Dynamic Link????
Also how come DSLR presets when I create new projects is no longer available? They were there during the beta version, but now I can't find them??

Problems with Dynamic Link and Render Farm

We have a 10-node render farm that we use for all of our AE renders, and it works great, so we know the farm isn't the issue. But if we place a Premiere sequence into an AE file and attempt to send the After Effects file to the render farm, we get this error from every node:
"aerender Error: After Effects error: Failed to connect to Adobe Premiere Pro Dynamic Link."
Does anyone know of a possible workaround for getting an AE file using Dynamic Link to render to a farm? This is a very important workflow for us, and right now we're having to do local renders for any AE file that uses Dynamic Link.

Why not ask such questions in the AE forum? Aside from that, using AE and PPRo DL at the same time can easily exhaust all your system resources and may cause any kind of issues, as effectively only one connection is meant to exist at any given time. So it's definitely in the way you use it, but not necessarily "wrong", just an unfortunate combination that makes things unworkable.

Encore dynamic link and multi core processor

hello, when I make an DVD menu in Encore cs3, with motions and transitions in After Effects, i import this AE compositions using dynamic link, everything works perfect, but when I build the DVD, the processor use is beetween 50/60% when it´s rendering the motion menus or trascoding, I think that this is because Encore can´t use multicores (Athlon 5600+ X2 in this machine), since when i render in AE directly, or trascode from premiere using Adobe media encoder, the processor is used 100%, how is the correct way to "jump" this problem?
I must Render all the menues directly in after effects to m2v?(how can i do it and maintain the direct link for further changes?

Windows XP PRO x64 SP2.

Windows XP Pro x64 is an unsupported operating system for Encore.
That may be part of or all of the problem.

Dynamic Link and Footage reversed in Premiere Pro

I've had this problem since cs5.5 and just found ways around but I've had it and want to find a solution. I do a lot of nightlife videos and sometimes it requires me to reverse footage in order to get a desired effect. The problem I have is when I try to bring it into after effects using dynamic link, AE actually reads the footage backward versus making a new clip... it is a little awkward to grasp but let me tell you some of the problems.
1. The tracker in AE can be used for matchmoving or stabalization. When I would apply a track and have it run, it would go in the right direction versus the reverse I am looking for. I would move the cursor to the beginning and track backward but then the clip I brought it won't have the tracking markers
2. Making transitions using masks for a quick roto is simple and straight forward but when I would copy that mask I just made to another clip to apply like a reveal, the mask would freeze and all the data is gone. Frustrating.
I am on CC now and there are a few other problems I can't remember with a fuming head but that is the jist of it. Normally due to deadlines I would just un-reverse the clip, bring it into after effects, do my magic then bring it back and reverse it again.
I want to know if this happens anyone else and either how to fix or how do you get around?

I do a ruff cut in PPro and then open the clips I need to work on in AEFX independently. No LINKS.
I export a Digital Intermediate from AEFX for PPro.
Find this a lot less complex , flexible and manageable.

Everything works fine, the stabalization works but when I render the linked footage in PPro it all seems jagged and not smooth at all(The video looks stabalized but "starts and stops"/won't run smoothly), I rendered the files in AE as new avi files and imported them into PPro and thoose files are fine. Only the dinamicly linked files don't seem to work.
Any suggestions???

Dynamic Link and Premiere Pro Multicam Sequence?

I couldn't find a way to get AE to recognize the individual cuts from channel to channel in a Pr multicam sequence when that sequence was sent to AE via dynamic link using the "Replace with After Effects composition" command. It behaves as if I sent a normal sequence with 2 video layers to AE; IOW the top video track always overlays (and obscures) the bottom video track.
Is Multicam a no-go item for DL between AE and Pr?

I hadn't thought of multicam being destructively applied, since I can go back into Pr and change the cuts and the channels as desired. The multicam clip comes into AE with all of the original cuts intact, but not the channels. If I do make changes to the Pr sequence, re-sending the sequence to AE again updates all of the cuts, but still not the channels.

Encore CS4 freezes when using dynamic link and blu-ray settings

I am using dynamic link to send a Premiere project to Encor using blu-ray for video and dolby digital for audio. The project gets loaded correctly. When I go to the build tab, I see the format is DVD. I can create a project using DVD as the format output to a DVD folder. When I select blu-ray as the format, Encore freezes. I want to save everything as blu-ray format so that if and when I get a blu-ray burner, I can just burn the folder layout to blu-ray disc. Is there a fix for this so that I can select blu-ray as the format?

Demoting a DC and Group policy, help needed.

so we have 3 domain controllers, lets say dc1,dc2 and dc3. We have the 3rd line assistance from another company, they have advised the following....
SO the stages will be
1) Can you please go through all the GPO's in DC3 and consolidate what you need and what you do not need, you need to extensively cross reference this with DC1 and DC2, this is something you have to do. As I will not know what you need and what you do
not. You can do this by logging into each domain controller and opening up the settings of each GPO and cross referencing.
2) Once the above is done, we will consolidate the GPO's to a central repository in your domain
3) Backup Sysvol directory and Netlogon folder in DC3
3) Proceed to dcpromo DC3 out of the domain
4) Test connectivity if clients to the AD
5) Add the additional Server options
6) All of the above can be done during office hours.
it was my understanding (perhaps wrongly) that the group policies were not on the individual Domain Controllers but in Sysvol and as such replicated anyway?
any advice would be very much appreciated.

I agree. Talking of a "central repository" fro group policy doesn't make
sense, because group policy from the very beginning lives in AD and
sysvol, which both are kind of "central repository". Seems they don't
really know what they're talking about :)

You gotta change the CSS mate.
try to give the display of inline-block to your top level lists or display:block and then float them left.
Second everytime I'm in a certain page, the link related to that page somehow generates this:
<li class> <a ....>text ....
why do you have an empty class in there? check the Menu module files and see what you've got there to fix that, you shouldn't have that. maybe some JS is messing with you too.
Assign classes through BC, or just target the lists directly with CSS.
If you want to be specific on what list you target, use this method:
#nav > ul
and then #nav > ul > li
this will target only the direct tag after the nav div.
man you got a lot going on there, this need a bit of clean up.
I can tell you that it takes a good chunk of CSS lines to control what you've got there.

Can I Dynamically Link and Play Sounds?

I am building a morse code training program for my Ham Radio
Club. I am wondering how to script the code that would allow the
user to type (via a virtual keyboard on the program interface) a
sentence, linking each dynamically selected letter to a sound file
(MP3), and then play the setence in morse code when the play button
is selected? Displaying the typed text in a dynamic window is the
easy part, but linking each selected letter to a sound file, and
playing them in sequence is where I am stuck.
I cannot find any help for this type of script via manuals

if you are going to encode punctuation, in addtion to
alpha-numeric characters you should probably invest the time to
create an associative array. i'll explain that if that's the route
you take.
in any case, you'll want to import into your library as the
character sound files that you'll need. you'll want to give each a
linkage id and you'll want to pick this wisely to ease your work
later.
you'll want to use the onChanged property of your input
textfield to store all the linkage ids (this where the associative
array would be used and/or your clever choices used in assigning
linkage ids) in an array.
you'll create a sound object from the flash sound class. when
the submit button is pressed you'll initialize the index of your
array that contains your linkage ids, you'll attach the
corresponding sound and apply the start() method of your sound
object.
you'll create an onSoundComplete method for your sound object
(and you'll probably want small delay in executing this next step
so there's some silence between characters) where you'll increment
your index and attach the corresponding sound and start it.
you are done.
don't forget to include a sound that corresponds to a blank
space. ie, silence for some amount time to indicate a new
word.

Linked excel file problem - Help needed

I have 2 excel files in the same directory in Content Services. The "destination" file has a link in one of its cells to a cell in the "source" file. I want to be able to open the "destination" file and update the data if any changes have been made to the "source" file.
My problem is when I try to do this i get an error that says "This workbook contains one or more links that cannot be updated" and two options.
1) To change the source of links, or attempt to update values again, click Edit Links.
2) To open the workbook as is, click Continue.
If I click Edit Links I am then presented with a screen where I can open the "source" file. When I try to do this though I am given a login screen. Supplying a valid Content Services username and password doesn't work and I cannot open the file.
Can anyone tell me how I can open the "destination" file without having to open every "source" file? I don't want to open the "source" files because there could be dozens of "source" files for one "destination" file.

I do think it is a good idea to verify your code on the platform it will be tested against. That means Visual Studio. However, you don't want to use Visual Studio. As you have found out, it gets people into too many bad habits. Linux is much the same way. Both development platforms are designed to build anything, whether or not it is syntactically correct. Both GNU and Microsoft have a long history of changing the language standards just to suit themselves.
I don't know what level you are in the class, but I have a few tips for you. I'll phrase them so that they answers are a good exercise for the student
* Look into const-correctness.
* You don't need to compare a bool to 1. You can just use bool. Plus, any integer or pointer type has an implicit cast to bool.
* Don't reuse your CURSOR pointer as a temporary index. Create a new pointer inside the for loop.
* In C++, a struct is the same thing as a class, with all of its members public by default. You can create constructors and member functions in a struct.
* Optimize your function arguments. Pass by const reference instead of by copy. You will need to use pass by copy at a later date, but don't worry about that now.
* Look into initializer lists.
* In C++ NULL and 0 are always the same.
* Return the result of an expression instead of true or false. Technically this isn't officially Return Value Optimization, but it is a good habit.
Of course, get it running first, then make it fancy.

It's just confusing, because of the way MSI colors thier slots (different from every other motherboard manufacturer)... the layout is the same as every other board and is used the same, but note the following labeling below:
cpu is here
DIMM1 (green slot, closest to cpu)
DIMM3 (green)
DIMM2 (orange slot, closest to cpu)
DIMM4 (orange)
24pin power connector is here
...if you look closely, the 'second slot down from the top' is labeled DIMM3 (<-- 3 ), so yes - according to the actual labeling, you are supposed to use DIMM1 & DIMM2 (one green and one orange) slots. However most people commonly 'refer' to these as "slots 1&3" - and thus, the confusion .
