Dynamic Link from Pr to En

I have Master Collection CS5 on Windows 7 x64.  I made a Premier Pro project and have been trying to send the sequence to Encore via Dynamic Link.  At first it looks like it will work--after clicking on the menu item "Send to Encore", Encore starts up and I can enter a new project name in, as expected.  I keep all the settings as default, other than the name of the project and where to put it.  As soon as I click OK, Encore creates the project file, but then that's where it stops.  My mouse becomes a waiting cursor as long as I am mousing over the Encore window and if I try and click in the window, it greys out and the title bar says (Not Responding).  I've let it sit like this for about 30 min to see if it would eventually do what it needs to do, but to no avail.
Very similarly, if I start in Encore and open a project and go to Adobe Dynamic Link -> Import Premeir Pro Sequence, the program goes unresponsive in the same way (this time with no further input).
I have updated QuickTime, turned off all Anti-virus software and disabled my firewall.  In Task Manager, I can see that "Adobe QT32 Server.exe *32" is running, as is "dynamiclinkmanager.exe*32" and "CS5ServiceManager.exe *32" (and of course Adobe Premier Pro.exe).  I've run WireShark to try and determine what ports are being used, but pretty much all the traffic I see (when I stop all my other networking services) is going to 192.150.16.80, which is an Adobe Server, according to my reverse DNS lookup... I don't know if that's an update check or a license check or what...
Are there any Windows Services that I need to make sure are not disabled?  That's about the last idea I have right now...
Thanks in advance

Perhaps I misunderstand the point of Dynamic Link, but isn't it supposed to be that none of the rendering gets done until it is needed (in this case, in Encore)?
The transcoding doesn't get done until you tell it, but some situations require some processnig. (I don't think that is your issue.)
I doubt it has anything to do with the premier sequence itself because I get the same behavior when initiating Dynamic Link FROM Encore--in this case I never get a chance to select what Premier sequence I want to import because the program goes unresponsive as soon as I hit the "Import Premier Pro Sequence" menu choice.
Yes, that points to Encore. I assume that none of Premiere (the headless instance that runs for DL for example) is starteds at that point.
Also, I did transcode into MPEG2-DVD from Premier and then imported that into Encore, and that works,
So Encore is not totally messed in your install...
but I'd like to get Dynamic Link working, all the same...
Absolutely!
This does not sound like an error we've seen here before.
Try opening Encore using the "run as administrator" tactic, and try the DL from Encore.
MPEG files can create a variety of issues, as often from the audio as the video. But the hang from Encore's end for DL argues against that. But I don't see any further option other than repair/reinstall.

Dynamic link from Premiere to Speed grade is incredible slow. About 10 minutes or so. I usually measure the time by hands of Solitaire, min 3 wins.  I've trashed prefs, OS and apps all updated, run system maintenance. I'm at a loss. This workflow isn't working for me. Please give me some troubleshooting ideas.

yeah thats basically it, you could leave premiere open but save and close the project before opening it up in speedgrade. if you are going to be in speedgrade a while, its best to just close premiere so it doesn't tie up any system resources sitting in the background. the dynamic link buttons/commands in premiere and speedgrade just save, close, and open in other program. so once you do your work in speedgrade save the project, close, then open it back in premiere and it should all be there.

  • Encore CS6 Dynamic Link from Pr CS6 Problem/Issue

I switched from Production Premium CS5 to CS6.  I first deactivated and uninstalled my CS5 then installed CS6 on my Windows 7 machine.
    The problem:
When I edit together a video in Premiere CS6 and have finished, I use Dynamic Link from within Encore CS6 to bring in that timeline.  After that, I use AME to transcode that Dynamic Link asset to the DVD MPEG standard, Encore CS6 keeps poping up a  notification window that says:  "The transcoded DynamicLink asset _______ has changed on the server.  Would you like to reimport it?  Yes/No" It prompts me each time I enter Encore and any time I move from another open program back to Encore.
And I have to click No for each timeline that I have used Dynamic Link for (which is usually 5 or so).
Any ideas or help?  This is incredibly annoying.
    Thank you.

As an update.  I am using the newest version of PluralEyes (v 2.0.5  7358) to sync the audio of the multiple camera event films I have shot.  I have since created a new project in Premiere and only manually lined up clips and then Dynamically Linked that to a new Encore project and so far Encore has not promtpted me with the error/message:  "The transcoded DynamicLink asset _______ has changed on the server.  Would you like to reimport it?  Yes/No"
Any ideas?  This is very frustrating.  Thank you!

  • Dynamic Link from Premiere freezes at 50%

I have never used the dynamic link from Premiere CS4 to Encore CS4 so I don't know if this feature has ever worked. I tried to send just a 25 minute unedited timeline to Encore to see if it worked.  Encore goes through it's features but freeze at 50% at transporting timeline.  Any ideas?

I may have answered my own question. I finually did get it to work, maybe by chance.  I msconfig and cleaned out my start up menue and that seems to have cured it.

  • Dynamic link from premiere pro

Usually when i dynamic link to audition and save and go back to premiere it saves my files to my project folder im working from.
Something has changed and they save elsewhere, if  I move the files to the project folder it stuffs up premiere wanting to reconnect everything..
And if I save them straight to my desired folder I have to import those files into premiere, frustrating me
Any ideas what I can do.?

I also need help with this. Whenever I dynamicly link is saves the new AA wav file next to where my PP proj file is. I don't want it to do this I want to save it to where all my media is. Is there really no way to tell audition to default save extracted audio from premiere to a certain location?.
The extracted WAV file is generated by Premiere, in this case, and Audition doesn't have any control over where it is saved.  You can submit a feature request directly to Premiere by visiting https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform

  • Dynamic Link from Premiere CC to After Effects CC Issues.

Just bought a new iMac maxed out 3.75ghz quad-core, 32 gig of ram, 1t solid state and 4 gigs of video ram; so my machine is more then capable of using adobe video applications very well.  I like to do a lot of dynamic link things from premiere to after effects and 9 times out of 10 I use a black video (File>New>Black Video) as my place holder on the time line or you could use bars or a color matte, doesnt matter..  When I do my composite in after effects and then come back to premiere to render, it takes freaking forever if I leave after effects open.  If I close after effects then do the render, it fires through the premiere render and no problems.
Now I also have a maxed out 12 core 64 gig ram Mac Pro tower at work and I have the same problem.  Is this a known bug thats in the works of being fixed?  Is there a work around instead of closing after effects to render to make it work smoother?  Is adobe aware of this issue?  Nothing is crashing or failing, its just taking a long time to render when i dynamic link if i leave after effects open.  Any help or feedback would be awesome, thanks!

I spoke with vidya sagar from tech support a few minutes ago to get an update on when, maybe this update to fix this problem will be rolled out.  He told me he and his whole team is aware of the situation.  He mentioned its a problem where ram between premiere and after effects isn't being balanced out enough and thats why premiere is taking so long to render out after effect compositions.  With all do respect, I'm not trying to be a nag.  Can you maybe give me a progress report on where the team is with fixing this related issue?  Vidya said your the man to ask and that you're a very reliable resource to get information out of with problems such as this.

  • Dynamic link from premiere to speedgrade not working, constantly crashing

    Hello,
please help me. I'm trying to color correct my video in Speedgrade (I'm not using 4k files).
When I try to send the project from Premiere CC to Speedgrade whit dynamic link, everything seems fine, except that when the project finishes to be downloaded from SG, it crashes.
And it's the same if I try to open a random video clip from inside SG. I open it, put it in the timeline, but when I click on Looks, it crashes.
All the videos I'm using are quicktime, h.264.
    Thanks a lot

The Direct Link process should totally bypass Sg's preferences and "needs" as far as frame-rates & sizes & such not. But clearly this whole issue is affecting people with a variety of gear, and it doesn't seem to care if it's a newish or oldish video card. So they've a quirk in their code to deal with.
Not that Sg deals with framerates perfectly all the time ... I've been having a devil of a time the last couple weeks with any attempt to export an EDL into Sg from PrPro. Footage reads as 29.97 ... sequence is 29.97 ... and the EDL is 29.97. But Sg insists that the EDL is 30 fps ... and even though it's got that bit in the prefs to account for such things if there really IS a difference ... "if edl is x & footage is frame-rate above conform to rate below" and all ... haven't been able to get Sg to accept the EDL. It will play the first 5-6 seconds of each clip & then the monitor goes black and it says "Media out of  range" ... funsies.
Given the number of times or reasons one might need an EDL approach in emergency situations ... or as I was and a number of others are still trapped into because of this bug ... I've been trying to figure this bugger out. Still trying ...

  • Dynamic Link from Premiere CS4

When I export Premiere to AE, the composition icon in AE but nothing else.No associated video files, etc. I double-click it or drag it into the timeline area - nothing happens. However, I am able import a Premiere project frm within AE and I can do all those things - but Dynamic Link is not involved. Can I link the two after the fact?

I don't really get what you are saying. For DynamicLink, you do not export anything, you open the saved Premiere Pro project using the DynamicLink option in the import dialog. Upon doing so, you will be prompted with what sequence to use and that's all. If you are referring to creating a AE comp from Premiere using Replace with AE Composition, then that's a different thing. In either case, however, the AE project must be saved in the same location as the Premiere project for things to show up properly.

  • Dynamic link from Premier to AE CS6 not working well

Just downloaded CS6 2 days ago and today I tried converting a HDV video sequence with two titles on tracks 2 & 3 into an After Effects comp.
So AE launched and all copied over but my two titles came over as black solids! So I deleted them then I right clicked on the 1440x1080 HDV video layer in the HDV comp and choose Track Camera, it spent some time anlayzing the video and then said "Layer size must match Composition"
So seems to be some bugs in the whole dynamic link transfer system between premier pro and AE in CS6 ???

Dynamic Link is designed to bring over footage items, but titles are created dynamically inside Premiere and do not exist as footage first.  As a result, I am not surprised they do not come into AE through the dynamic link.
The best workflow is to start with the superior text manipulation inside After Effects.  You can get much more control and power from within AE.  If you aren't sure how to start working on text there, there are many, many excellent free tutorials at CreativeCow.net or paid instructional videos with Lynda.com or Video2Brain.com.
Otherwise, do not bring the titles into AE - make any adjustments you want to make to your footage, and keep the titles separate.

  • Question about Dynamic Linking from Premier Pro

I have a number of sequences created in Premier Pro CS5.5 that I have linked into a project in Encore CS 5.1 via the "Dynamic Link" feature. My question is - if I make any adjustments or changes to those sequences in Premier Pro, will those changes be automatically transferred to the corresponding timelines in Encore? If not, how do I make that happen?

Jeff's answer applies to each dynamic linked sequence you transcoded after in Encore. For any sequence not already transcoded, changes will be automatic.
The exception is markers. If you change markers, including markers that shifted on the Premiere timeline because you deleted or added clips, changed duration, etc, you must select the sequence's timeline and select Edit -> Update Markers From Source (replaces all markers).

  • Dynamic link from Premiere CC 2014 to Audition CC 2014

When I dynamic link to audition and save and go back to premiere it saves my files to my
user folder instead of saving it to my project folder where I’m working from. I have not found a way to specify the folder to save back to. You would think it would save the file back to the folder where the original was.
And if I save them straight to my desired folder I have to import those files into premiere and relink them.
How can this be fixed… any ideas what to do?

  • Getting the Dynamic Link from Premiere Pro to AE

I read the dynamic link process in the Pr Pro on line ref manual BUT I'm just not getting easily as they say.
In Premiere I have edited my clips and they are on the time line in a sequence.
I want to take the edited clips, that are on the time line, individually into AE to do my effects and color correction.
I know to go to File >Dynamic Link>New AE Comp--- but the problem is that when I get the empty AE linked Comp I can only import the unedited clip from Pre Pro.  What am I doing wrong???   is there a way to copy the clip from the time line an put into the AE comp.   I did try to do that by simply copy and paste but the clip that ends up in AE is not readable.  I pasted it into the timeline window of AE, it shows up but contains nothing.  When I double click on it I get and error message saying invalid Quick time movie
    I am on a Mac usign CS4
    Thank U

OK its more than a year later since I originally posted this question.
I've been using the Dymanic Link method since that time, but recently read about pasting the Pre Pro sequenct into AE and remembered your suggestion of pasting instead.  My work flow has been 1) Make Rough Edit version in Pre Pro, 2) Take each clip seqment individually into AE through Dynamic Link and dow what ever needs to be done; and 3) Render out the refined Sequence in Pre Pro.
So, If I am working on a project and in Pre Pro and I have lets say 5 video and audio layers and the entire sequence is 5 min. long, its best to IMPORT the Pre Pro Sequence into AE and work on that WHOLE 5 min project in AE.
I guess that I would end up doing a lot of pre-composing for each layer to keep the AE project from becoming 100 layers deep (even thought I have heard about 100 layers deep, I'm not trying to go there)
Is this the way most professional people work?  what I mean is this the most efficient way to work: Dymanic Link for small fixes and Importing Pre Pro Sequence and/or video tracks for longer or larger works.
    thanks

  • Dynamic Link from After Effects CC Altered in Premiere Pro CC

I have created a series of animations in After Effects, but whenever I add a Dynamic Link in Premiere, the Dynamic links are altering their look.
Example: The particle world animation, Ice layer, Bounce layer and a Glue layer to create the effect that I want. Looks great in After Effects. When opened in Premiere Pro, all 3 layers bounce in sequence for no apparent reason. So why does Premiere feel the need to alter my file on import?
Example 2: Small End graphic animation with a phone number and website.. All is great until the last 4 seconds of the animation. For no good reason, the background flips?? I checked this in my After Effects file.. there is no reason for the flip to take place.. once again, only happens in my dynamic link imported into Premiere.
Anyone experience this? I trolled the forums looking for something similar and came out empty handed. Extremely frustrating. I have resorted to rendering out a quicktime video, but this is not an ideal way to achieve things. (that being said, the rendered quicktime video works just fine when imported into Premiere.
    Thanks..

    Thanks Kevin.
Unfortunately in my case the export doesn't solve the issue. The video only looks good while in the composition... I've tried exporting it in all the different formats with several codecs, but to no avail...

  • Dynamic Link from After Effects CC to Premiere Pro CC Performance Issues

I just updated my After Effects and Premiere Pro to CC and since doing so I've found numerous performance issues.  One that is seriously hurting my workflow is the poor performance of the dynamic link with After Effects compositions into Premiere Pro.   In CS6, you could make a change to the AE composition, save it, click over to Premiere Pro and it would quickly update and you can play your timeline and preview your changes.  You could also move the clips around and add cross dissolves and watch the changes quickly in Premiere Pro CS6.  Now, since updating to CC, if you save the composition in AE and click over to Premiere Pro it won't update on its own.  Sometimes it just shows a single frame of the AE composition.  I found that if you right click and "Edit Original", go into AE and then click back over to Premiere Pro and it will finally update.   But if you make any changes to the placement of the AE composition on the timeline, or add a cross dissolve, fade, etc. it again won't play the AE composition any longer.  After you make any changes to the AE composition you have to right click and go to "Edit Original", go into AE, and then click back over to Premiere Pro.. Then it will finally update.

  • Encore keeps freezing when I use dynamic link from premiere.  Any thoughts?

I just got done editing my sequence in Premiere Pro CS6.  I've added my chapter markers and sent to Encore via Dynamic Link.  Once I choose my project name and location it begins the import.  At 50% it freezes.  I've tried it on multiple machines and hard drives.  I've done this a million times before and have now just run into issues.  Any thoughts?
I'm working on a 2010 Mac Pro and a 2013 Macbook Pro (non retina)
