Dynamic Link Playback Issues

Even if I "Render Enire Work Area" my dynamic linked comps will not playback without stuttering and dropping frames, I've just been rendering QT's out of AE as a workaround, but how do I get this to work for real??
1920x1080 uncompressed QT is my source footage.
Mac
Nvidia 4000m (mercury playback is working fine) I can play Red in realtime no problem.)
48 gigs ram
I realize AE's render engine is used for dynamic link playback, but I render in Premiere shouldn't there be a render file that premiere can playback without stuttering and dropping frames.

Try "Render Entire Sequence" instead.

  • Premiere Pro CC and Dynamic Link Manager Issues

I have a previously purchased copy of Adobe Production Premium CS5 installed on my computer as well as a subscription to CC with a few apps installed.
I had a project opened in Premiere Pro  CC, off of an external hard drive, and as I was  working on it, trying to open it in Speedgrade. I decided to install Audition. However, it prompted me to close the dynamic link manager. Once I did, my project began messing up. As I tried to open the program, my sequences and merged clips disappeared and  I don't know what to do. My semester project is due tomorrow. Premiere won't let me open the file (neither cs5 and CC) and the ones that do open have all the clips but no sequence nor merged clips that I previously had. I did notice that the dynamic link is no longer opened in task manager after restarting and restoring the system(with the ejected hard drive). How do I reopen it? And, will it solve the problem?

    Thank You, Jim -
Unfortunately that specifically did not work.
Based on another comment sent to me, here is what did.
    In PProCC
File > Adobe Dynamic Link > New After Effects Composition
    In AECC
From that composition created from PPro, I imported the project (aep) initially created in AECC from another team member. Saved the file.
    Back in PProCC
File > Adobe Dynamic Link > Import After Effects Composition
    Magic.

  • Dynamic Link Server Issues

Between the constant cc updates and the VERY spotty performance of the Dynamic Link "feature" I have wasted hours of valuable time this week. Adobe, you used to be SO reliable. Now, you are the definition of UN-reliable. You DO KNOW that some of us are trying to use this software in professional workflows, right???

At least yours is working. I'm working on a bunch of newsletters and I can't get media encoder to read AE through Premiere at all. The AE dynamic link shows in PP but does not encode in AME. So I have to render everything in the foreground.
    Patch soon please.

  • Dropped Frames w/ Ae Dynamic Link Comps Using BMD (on Playback)

    Hey guys,
This problem started exibiting itself a couple weeks ago. Hoping for some feedback regarding possible problems other than just bad performance with my BMD Hardware.
The following is the system it's occuring on:
    2009 2.93Ghz/16GB 8-Core MacPro
    Adobe CS5 - Latest Updates
Internal Raid 0 - Footage Files
    Internal 7200RPM - Project Files
    Internal 7200RPM - OS
(all drives at 50% or more current capacity)
    Stock GT120GFX
    GTX285
Blackmagic Decklink Extreme 3D to HDLinkPro
2 Monitors (1 to each GFX card)
1 Plasma monitor out of the Decklink
Now that's out of the way, here's the scenario:
Using Blackmagic Design sequence presets in Premiere and Dyanamic Linking AE comps in the Premiere sequence . Playing back the sequence results in CS5 stopping playback because "Dropped Frames Detected"
This ONLY occurs in the following situations:
    - with any BMD preset
    - only unrendered (yellow) timeline comps
Rendering the timeline (sot it's green) results in uninterrupted playback
The comps have no problems in AE
Premiere exhibits no playback issues outside of BMD presets
Premiere exhibits no playback issues with other footage
All fingers point to something internal when in a BMD preset. But could a drive be failing? Something else?
    Thanks.

Shouldn't this be normal behavior for a Dynamic Link AE comp? If it's dynamically linked, it means it's not rendered, so Premiere is trying to play the AE comp in realtime (like hitting the play button in AE without doing a RAM preview). If the comp in AE is simple enough that it will play realtime in AE without doing a RAM preview, but still will not play realtime in Premiere on a BMD timeline, it could be do to the RGB to YUV conversion. AE only outputs in RGB, while a Decklink card (unless otherwise set in the preferences) outputs in YUV, so it needs to do a RGB/YUV conversion when playing the AE comp, and that can slow things down.
I use a Decklink card and I find if I have a Dynamic Link comp in Premiere that stutters on playback, it will sometimes then play realtime after the initial playblack. I'm guessing Premiere might be caching the frames similar to an AE RAM preview.
Todd, I believe the playback resolution setting is ignored on a BMD timeline.

When starting Windows 7 Sync Notifier reports "The procedure entry point sqlite3_wal_checkpoint could not be located in the dynamic link library SQLite3.dll." Any suggestions as to how to rectify this issue?

With Windows Explorer, navigate to your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support folder.
Copy the SQLite3.dll that you should find there, navigate to the nearby Mobile Device Support folder, and Paste it in there also.
Restart the programme all should be well
In case that your OS is (64 bit)
    1. Open windows explorer, go to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    2. Copy file "SQLite3.dll"
    3. Now paste it in the folder  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
    4. Restart the programme, it should not display that message, it should be clear.

  • Slow program response, crashes when creating titles and dynamic link issues

    Dear reader,
I am now trialling Adobe CC OSX with Premiere Pro and After Effects before deciding to subscribe but I am experiencing a lot of issues while working.
I am now working on an animation, but editing raw mxf files also gives crashes and slow responses/ program refreshes.
    1) Slow mouse response
    2) Slow program refresh while key framing visuals
    3) Rendering in PP is extremely slow when AE is open in the background, when closing AE and re-initiate the render in PP it renders super fast
    4) Crashes. When I overlay titles in my time line PP regularly crashes
    5) Dynamic Link issues when working combined in AE and PP where file connections in the time line get lost when the AE project has too many sequences
I am curious to find out if other people are also experiencing these issues.
I am indecisive in getting the paid yearly plan or move to FCPX instead? Or should I get a new MacPro and is this model too old?
It worked fine 2 months ago, however I was still working on FCP7. After updating it is really bad working with it...
    My system consist of:
    MacPro mid-2010
    OSX 10.9.5 (13F34) (new installation)
    2x2,66Ghz 6-core Intel Xeon
    24GB DDR3 ECC
    Nvidia Quadro K5000, 4GB
    2x PCIe SSD 1TB
    2x HDD 3TB
    2x HDD 2TB
Feedback is much appreciated! Best regards, Alexander

this does work for basic colour correction but not when trying to grade an entire suqence to achieve a specific style, applying a vingette or certain effects have to be done in after effects.
I want to try and get my whole sequence into after effects but preserve the edits and effects added in permier pro, is there any way to do this?

  • Dynamic Link issues between Pr and Ae

    Hey Guys -
We have had issues with our dynamic link since the last update to Premiere CC 45 days ago. Two different iMacs, one 2010 and the other late 2012 are both having these issues. Regardless of system, we weren't having the issue before the most recent update.
The issue we are having is as follows:
If we create a composition in Ae and bring it into Pr using dynamic link, it's completely fine, you can see it in the Source window as you should. But as soon as we drop it on the timeline in a sequence, it requires us to render both in Pr and back in Ae before it will display in the sequence. And ironically, you don't have to render the exact dynamic linked composition back in Ae, but any old render of any of your compositions will then allow you push through the stumbling render in Pr and so you can display the composition on the Pr timeline.
The problem furthers when you begin to edit again and have to redo the entire rendering process if you make one move anywhere on your timeline. We've found this renders dynamic link useless as it's more time effective to just render out the composition in Ae everytime you make a change than have to deal with these troubles. Really frustrating as we love DL and used it constantly before the most recent Pr update.
And as an FYI, we are not doing big effects, these are simple lower thirds and titles that we are doing here. Very little processing power required.
Is there any fix in the works or is anyone else struggling with this? Seems too ironic that two separate systems are dealing with the same issue...

I had the same issue with dynamic link...the files would become unlinked and required a manual re-linking of each clip.  Mostly happened with MXF media from my Panasonic P2 camera, Here is a workaround that so far has worked:
    1. Use Raylight (I use this software all the time when I edit with fcp 7) to create a QT reference file from MXF media.  It's super quick too...takes about 15 seconds to generate the aliases from a 64 GB card with tons of clips.
    2. Import these QT ref files into PP CC and edit like normal.  It seems to trick the software into thinking you are working with .MOV files and not MXF media which seem to be problematic in Premiere/After Effects.
    Hope this helps....

  • Dynamic Link from After Effects CC to Premiere Pro CC Performance Issues

I just updated my After Effects and Premiere Pro to CC and since doing so I've found numerous performance issues.  One that is seriously hurting my workflow is the poor performance of the dynamic link with After Effects compositions into Premiere Pro.   In CS6, you could make a change to the AE composition, save it, click over to Premiere Pro and it would quickly update and you can play your timeline and preview your changes.  You could also move the clips around and add cross dissolves and watch the changes quickly in Premiere Pro CS6.  Now, since updating to CC, if you save the composition in AE and click over to Premiere Pro it won't update on its own.  Sometimes it just shows a single frame of the AE composition.  I found that if you right click and "Edit Original", go into AE and then click back over to Premiere Pro and it will finally update.   But if you make any changes to the placement of the AE composition on the timeline, or add a cross dissolve, fade, etc. it again won't play the AE composition any longer.  After you make any changes to the AE composition you have to right click and go to "Edit Original", go into AE, and then click back over to Premiere Pro.. Then it will finally update.

    Quad Core 3.4GHz
    32G RAM

    Thanks Kevin.
Unfortunately in my case the export doesn't solve the issue. The video only looks good while in the composition... I've tried exporting it in all the different formats with several codecs, but to no avail...

  • Dynamic Link (Adobe Premiere Pro to Encore) issues with burning a DVD from the project file

    Hello,
I am running Adobe Suite CS 5.1 on my Mac:
    2.8 GHz Quad Core
    6GB Memory
I've been having issues with a few projects; using Dynamic Link, directly from my project in Premier, to send them to Encore:
When attempting to burn a DVD, Encore will 'hang up' and not burn; I rarely burn to DVD, usually I'm always encoding for web, and just always use the 'default settings' in Encore.
    A few things to note:
*In my project I'm using MOV files, from a Canon 7D, and MP4 files, from a Sony EX-1.
*I am working off of 3 separate hard drives; very large projects with over 5TBs of media files.
*I noticed that after inserting a DVD, it caused one of my hard drives to eject; this happened once, as far as I know.
*This only happens when I use Dynamic Link to send to Encore, via my Premiere Pro project file.
*My Project settings are always: XDCam HD-1080p/24p
    Please help.
    Thanks

So you must downrez at some point in the workflow. Some users have problems and/or think they get better quality out of direct PR/AME exports than using DL for this purpose.
I would test the workflow by creating three short test sequences - one with a clip from one camera, a second from the other, and a third with both in a sequence using the same settings you are using in your edit. I would use the "drag a clip" to the new item method for making each of the first two sequences. By short I mean 30 seconds to 2 minutes with a mixture of still and action.
Export using whatever method you pick of those recommended, but use CBR 8 instead of VBR etc. Bring the resulting files into Encore. Yes, look at the files exported on the computer, and look at Encore preview, etc, but also burn to a disk and watch on multiple TVs. There are lots of issues in best quality.

  • AVCHD, Dynamic link issues

About nine months ago, I updated Adobe CS4 Production Premium and the 4.1 update (for premiere) erased all MPEG-Related compatibility. After an hour on the phone with support, they told me to uninstall and reinstall it. MPEG-Related presets and compatibility came back, with the exception of Dynamic Link. Ever since then, whenever I try to replace a clip (AVCHD .MTS file type) with an After Effects composition (right click>Replace with After Effects Composition) After Effects asks me what to name the project etc. then, once the clip loads it gives me a color-bar type placeholder. When I look at the clip in the bin area, <missing> shows up before the file path. In a separate instance, I cannot export Flash projects into Premiere. (it comes up empty) All of these features have worked before. From what I can tell, it seems to be an issue with Dynamic Link and/or Premiere. I have uninstalled and reinstalled CS4 twice and the issue persists. Support just told me .MTS files aren't compatible with After Effects, but I'm not trying to import it directly into After Effects, it's through Dynamic Link. I have no idea what to do next. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Try the After Effects forum. Your chances of finding help in this forum are not very good.

  • Dynamic Link from Premiere CC to After Effects CC Issues.

Just bought a new iMac maxed out 3.75ghz quad-core, 32 gig of ram, 1t solid state and 4 gigs of video ram; so my machine is more then capable of using adobe video applications very well.  I like to do a lot of dynamic link things from premiere to after effects and 9 times out of 10 I use a black video (File>New>Black Video) as my place holder on the time line or you could use bars or a color matte, doesnt matter..  When I do my composite in after effects and then come back to premiere to render, it takes freaking forever if I leave after effects open.  If I close after effects then do the render, it fires through the premiere render and no problems.
Now I also have a maxed out 12 core 64 gig ram Mac Pro tower at work and I have the same problem.  Is this a known bug thats in the works of being fixed?  Is there a work around instead of closing after effects to render to make it work smoother?  Is adobe aware of this issue?  Nothing is crashing or failing, its just taking a long time to render when i dynamic link if i leave after effects open.  Any help or feedback would be awesome, thanks!

    Todd_Koprivas
I spoke with vidya sagar from tech support a few minutes ago to get an update on when, maybe this update to fix this problem will be rolled out.  He told me he and his whole team is aware of the situation.  He mentioned its a problem where ram between premiere and after effects isn't being balanced out enough and thats why premiere is taking so long to render out after effect compositions.  With all do respect, I'm not trying to be a nag.  Can you maybe give me a progress report on where the team is with fixing this related issue?  Vidya said your the man to ask and that you're a very reliable resource to get information out of with problems such as this.

  • Issue with Dynamic Link with Premiere CC and After Effects

I'm having a strange and annoying issue with Dynamic linked clips in Premiere CC:
When I render or export my timeline the progress will stall when it hits a dynamic linked clip.  It will stay stalled until I click the After Effects application and make it the active window.  Once that happens the render/export resumes at normal speed.
This is annoying as I can't start a render and walk away or work on different windows, I have to babysit all the renders to make sure they go through.
Has anybody experienced this and know of any solutions?
I'm running the latest version of Premiere (7.2.1) and After Effects 12.2.0.52 on Mavericks 10.9.1 with a GTX 770 Video Card.

Does it still pause if AE is closed completely? I often experience slower AME renders from Premiere over dynamic link material when AE is open. Closing AE speeds things up. Go figure.

  • Is anyone else having serious issues with Dynamically linked clip render times in CC 2014.2

Short clips stalling and taking forever to render. Longer ones taking several hours???
I've noticed arbitrary little fixes, such as re-opening the after effects window, then going back into the premiere window causes the render to instantly speed back up in some cases.
A restart of the program I believe solves the issue too. As does simply rendering the clip out in after effects.
The problem is that I have long, overnight renders set up that need to run automatically. In this case, 9 clips, all about 30 minutes long. And pretty much all one long dynamically linked comp (I created a picture in picture effect in after effects compiling 2 30-minute video feeds, and then added some color correction). When I left at night, the total time kept creeping up and up to about 2.5 hours for one video. Even THAT sounds like a lot to me, but I let it go. I return to the computer 13 hours later, to see only 3 videos completed, and the one CURRENTLY in the queue saying over 6 hours remaining. I cancel the render.
I feel like there is some breakdown of communication between afx and premeiere happening here.
Anyone have any experience with issues like this?
Running PP CC2014.2 on a tricked out 2011 Macbook pro 17" OSX Yosemite

I'm on windows 7, and similar dynamic issues were a result of having two versions of the same app on the machine, and not associating the files to use the latest version, etc, or a version mismatch.
Another workaround is to close PPro and import the project into AME, rendering it from there.

  • Issues with transferring CS5 project with Adobe Dynamic Links to CS5.5

    Hello all!
Has anybody encountered the issue with transferring CS5 projects with Adobe Dynamic Links to CS5.5?
When I try to do it the movie hangs on at some clips which are AE compositions...
    The CS5 project works perfectly.
All AE CS5 compositions are transerred to AE CS5.5 compositions.
All 'old' Adobe Dynamic Links in Pr CS5.5 project are changed to 'new' ones (I mean, links to AE CS5 composition changed to links to AE CS5.5 compositions)...
    Any help will be appreciated

Tried to play around. Realised that a solution should be somewhere around re-rendering, 'cos linked AE compositions were always displayed in yellow as if they were original footages - even I changed a composition within AE, just transitions, if they were, changed to red in Pr Pro sequence...
However, I was unable to re-render 'Entire Work Area' even after deleting all Render Files, just 'Effects in Work Area'...
Then I simply created a new sequence and copied and pasted all the clips from original sequence. Now I was allowed to 'Render Entire Work Area'.
    Voilà!

  • Dynamic Link to Encore from Premiere Issues

I created a simple After Effects composition and Dynamic Linked it to Premiere Pro. (All CS4 Programs)  I completed the editing process, and Dynamic Linked my timeline into Encore.  In Encore, the Premiere Pro timeline appears, but it does not represent the After Effects composition within the Premiere Pro Timeline.
I am unsure as to why this occurs.
Also, I have issues with getting the DVD's I burn to play in other computer/DVD players.  The discs I create work perfectly fine in my computer, as well as my DVD player but I am unsure why they do not work in other people's devices.  The discs are DVD-R discs.
