Dynamic Link video playback stops

Hi there,
I'm making a video in After Effects CS4 and wanted to do the music in Soundbooth CS4.
I used the dynamic link to import the composition and it all seems to work nicely.
The file imports, and you can see the sound on the project and the video frames.
When I want to sync up the new music files though I get a problem. The video doesn't play back in real time.
When I press "space bar" to play the timeline, the video plays for 1 second and then freezes, the audio carries on.
This defeats the point really of trying to have a dynamic link, since I can't see how the music goes with the video.
I have a mac pro 8-core (2.26ghz) // 12gb or ram // 1 x 7200rpm system drive // 1x7200rpm other drive.
Is there something I'm doing wrong, or does this dynamic link thing just not work?
Cheers,
Mike

If there are a lot of networks visible on the same frequency that may have an impact.
When selecting your network the main things to look at are signal strength and noise, the site will give you more detail on how to read the report.

  • Video playback stops at first bitrate switch

When playing my manifest file for HTTP dynamic streaming, it will play the first bitrate (150), however, at exactly 6 seconds, it tries to switch to a higher bitrate (1500) and the video stops playing, but the audio continues.
I have tried multiple manifest files, but it happens the same with each one.
Any idea what could cause this?
    Thanks,
    Dan

Since we dont' get access to the server, we are unable to debug from our side. One thing you may want to find out is where the video playback stops at code level. Does it stop at play2 method or somewhere else. NetStreamPlayTrait has two methods, doPlay and doPlay2. You may set up break points at each function to find out whether the NetStreamPlayTrait has been instructed by the switch manager to **** bitrate. If it does, relevant function in the same class you may want to set break points are onNetStatus and onPlayStatus to look for error events. Please let me know of your discovery. Thanks!

  • [solved] video playback stops when I move any window in xfce

    Hello,
when I view a video with xine or mplayer and I move/resize any window the video playback stops.
In xine the audio still plays, in mplayer video and audio stops.
When I stop moving or resizing the window the playback continues.
Is this normal in xfce or xorg in general ?
Do other desktop environments handle this without stopping the video playback ?
How does it work on your systems ?
I am using the "nvidia" driver (geforce m 8600 gt - notebook). I haven't tested it with "nv".

ok, there is a setting for hiding a windows content on resizing for moving.
I thought this would just apply to the window I resize and not to all windows on the desktop.
Unmarking those did fix my problem.

  • Dynamic link manager has stopped working

I downloaded and installed photshop CS6, supposedly succesfully, but when I try to run the application I get repeated msgs that dynamic link manager has stopped working.  There was also a msg that the application has failed to start because MSVCP100.dll was not found. Both photoshop and bridge appear to work to the extent that I can browse and open files. However I am repeatedly interrupted with msg telling me the dynamic link manager has stopped working. Suggestions?

  • Video playback stops and starts

I've never had this problem before but since I wiped my 5th Gen (late 2006) iPod Video and put new content on it the video playback keeps freezing for a second and then continuing. Most of the time the audio keeps going but sometimes they both stop and start again. It's very annoying. I don't see anyone else in this forum complaining about this. Am I the only one?
Anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this?

  • Playback problems - Video playback stops after 1 second (CS5)

    Hello forum,
i recently got huge problems with video playback. The video stops playing after rougly one second and the last frame freezes. After that, Premiere won't show any frames when scrubbing through the sequene. It just shows the freezed frame and the whole program just becomes terribly slow.
Sometimes the playback is just fine, but in some cases the playback error occures randomly. I experienced that the error happens even more frequenly when  Flash Player plays back a video in the background, e.g. a youtube video.
Maybe the playback errors happen because my harddrive is almost full (1,5TB capacity, 300 GB left)? Or is it because of a few plugins ( e.g. filmconvert)?
I run Windows 7, Premiere CS5 on an I7 860 2,8 Ghz quad core CPU with 8 GB of RAM and a nvidia 460 GPU.
    Thanks for your help.

sounds like a major shortout. you can take it in, but this isn't going to be good news, I'm afaird.

  • Video playback stops when a push notification arrives.

I'm finding that any video playing whether it is in netflix or any other app will stop playback when a push notification arrives.
Is there any way to stop this as it really gets annoying especially when settling into watch a long film via netflix.

Turn off push notification. That is what i have done. Notification is turned off, all email is set to off, and I manually retrieve email when i want to check my mail. Haven't had any wifi problems, video stoppage.

  • Video playback stops while audio goes on

After several month of not making any movies, I am trying a new project. Right of the start something is wrong, freshly imported unedited line of clips is not being played correctly in iMovie preview window - video stops in about 30sec or so, while audio goes on. If I switch to full screen, it gives me another 10sec of video, then it stops there, too, and nothing brings frozen video back to life. After restarting the app, everything repeats.
Needless to say it's impossible to edit.
It also does it with the older projects, which used to work just fine.
Here is what I've done so far:
    1. Repaired permissions on startup disk and checked it for errors.
    2. Repaired external disk, where the project resides (even tried to move the project to internal disk with no avail - same results), and where I have 80GB of free space.
    3. Replaced external disk's directory, using DiskWarrior.
    4. Deleted iMovie preferences file.
    5. Removed all third-party plug-ins I had.
    Nothing works.
QuickTime Player seems to play imported clips fine, so I am guessing, it's an iMovie bug. Any practical suggestions would be highly aprecciated (by practical I mean, not "reformat your hard drive and reinstall everything" or "buy a faster computer" or "invest in FinalCut instead")
I've been a loyal iLife user since the very beginning, and I swear, iMovie in it's buginnes is only challenged by iDVD.

It is a common problem for G4 800 machines and I've been told Apple is investigating the issue.
Try putting your Mac to "sleep" for a minute and then try the file again.

  • Playback problem - video playback stops; any suggestions?

I have distributed about 20 copies of a DVD I made using iMovie and iDVD v4.x - and about 5 of the discs are reported to freeze during playback. Because not all of the 20 discs have been viewed, it's possible the percentage of discs with playback problems may be even higher. No two discs are freezing at the same spot, or even in the same movie (there are 3 short movies on the disc).
I got no errors during burning, but I did not 'verify' each disc after burning, either. I did play back my 'master' disc on my home DVD player to make sure it was OK before using it to create a disk image - which I used to burn all the other discs.
Some of the discs I burned from the disk image using Toast Titanium 6.1.1, until I discovered Apple's Disk Utility was actually a little faster. No way to tell now if the 'bad' discs are all from the same burn software. Though both Toast and DU gave me an option to burn faster than the rated speed, I used the rated burn speed of 8x, and I did not do anything else on the Mac while burning the discs.
My first thought was bad media. I used both Memorex and Sony DVD-R media (Taiwan) - there is no easy way to for me to find out if all the 'bad' disks are one brand or the other - but hopefully these brands do not have a 20% rate of defective discs.
My second thought was format-player incompatibilities (-R vs +R), but replacement discs, using the same media on my end, solved the problem for most people (one person's replacement disc froze, but at a different spot than the first one).
My final guess - I wonder if the playback problems might have something to do with the stick on labels I used? These are a Memorex brand product called "CD&DVD" labels, but the fine print on the back says: "Warning: Using a Standard or Full-Face label on DVDs may result in the disc becoming unreadable."
    Any solutions?

I just wanted to add my 2 cents. I haven't been on this forum for months. I've been happily making DVDs in batches of 10 -50 to distribute. I've been making them in my emac. Occassionally I'd get ones that wouldn't play in a client's player. The solution was to send a replacement. Usually that worked. Often I'd send a replacement that wouldn't play in one client's player but found that the disk would play in another client's player. The worst case was when the ist three DVDs I sent to one person wouldn't play, but the fourth did. But most of the time, the second one I'd send worked fine (All of these were made in the same batch from the same media (usually Fuji or Verbatim).
Recently I started getting lots more than usual complaints about problem DVDs. I checked out a bunch of them by actually playing them on both my computer, and a stand alone Cyberhome player. They were all made from a particular batch of Fuji media. Now I've previously burned hundreds of playable DVDs made from Fuji media, so I imagine it is just a fluke. (I hope) Some of them would play perfectly all the way to the last 5 minutes of an hour long presentation, and then start stuttering. Some begin stuttering in the middle. Several wouldn't even start up in my cyberhome player. Most of them would end up freezing at some point during the stuttering. The stuttering was never at the same exact place on any of the DVDs.
As an aside, I discovered something that I didn't know was possible. When a DVD froze in my cyberhome player at the menu stage, I'd push the eject button, remove the DVD, and the menu frame was still visible unchanged on the TV until I turned off the player or put another DVD in! I guess there must be some sort of cache in the player that stores the image. Very interesting. I've never seen that with a normally functioning DVD.
I also played each defective DVD in my computer to compare. One or two managed to play all of the way through on the computer, but most exhibited similar misbehavior on my emac. I'd say that, in general though, they all played a bit better on my computer.
Then it occured to me that there was another possible explanation. I was burning these from a disk image file that I had stored on an external HD. Whenever I needed a new batch of DVDs I would copy the disk image file back onto my emac from the external drive, and use disk utility to burn the disks. What if the disk image was corrupted? That might explain the problems.
Another thought that occured to me was the perhaps the process of burning a dozen or more DVDs in a row might cause a heat buildup in the burner and affect the burning in some way.
So I retrieved a good DVD made in an earlier batch of Fuji, made a new disk image of it, and left the image on the computer and didn't transfer it back to the external drive (on TDK media, because that's all I had sitting around), played the copy back on both my computer and Cyberhome player to make sure it worked perfectly. I then generated another dozen copies.
You may wonder how I had enough time to do all this. I'd just put a DVD in the player or my emac and listen to it while doing my ordinary office work. If I heard stuttering(it was my voice on the DVD) I'd instantly notice. I did this all day for a couple of days.
So anyway, I played 5 finished TDK disks all the way through today and they played perfectly. I guess the next test is to use the disk image of the same DVD from my external drive to see if i also get a good burn from it on the same TDK media and burner.
I did have time to do one other test though. I took a couple of DVDs that played well and put paper lables on them using the stomper system. They still played perfectly on both my computer and Cyberhome player. I'd speculate that paper lables are probably okay if they are applied perfectly, perfect centering, no air bubbles, good contact, and the disk stored in clean dry area. I've seen other peoples' CDs or DVDs with paper lables that had become wrinkled from exposure to high humidity and/or heat. I can imagine that they would tend to malfunction.
One client with a certain brand player actually took the "offending" DVD down to a AV store, and bought a replacement player that WOULD play it. I do think that it is interesting and useful to know that one brand player will play a particular particular DVD and another won't.
Since I make batches, I'm considering buying a couple more different brand DVD players, and then doing a bit of quality control - Trying out sample DVDs on all players before I mail out a batch to clients.
I hope that my observations might be useful for others.

I have F/F 27.0, Flash 12.0, and the WinVista OS. The modem lights also show no activity when this occurs.

You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
    See also:
You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Please help, I cannot get play menu to work after using dynamic link.

Ok. So I sent a video from premiere pro to encore using dynamic link. Then I created a menu in encore and dragged video to play button I created for the dvd. However, when I burn the dvd, the menu is not a part of the DVD. I do not know why this happens when I use a dynamic linked video. It does not happen when I use other videos. Please help. Thanks Matt

You need to set the menu to be first play.
If you create a timeline before you add a menu, the timeline becomes first play. If you set the end action of the timeline to the menu, it will eventually get there, but that does not appear to be what you want.

  • Trouble with dynamic link manager in starting a cs6 product

i just re-installed cs6 on a new hard drive.  Now, I get an error message when I try to load Photoshop 64-bit.  Dynamic Link Manager has stopped working.
I applied the DLM update, applied all the updated to all the programs in cs6, and still getting the DLM error message.

Tech support was finally able to correct the problem.  He went into the appdata folder and renamed the dynamic link manager file.  Then he restarted Photoshop,  which then automatically recreated the file.  Such a simple solution.

  • Video Playback Flicker Windows 7/8 Media Center? Disable Intel Dynamic Contrast to stop it

If you bought a Mac Mini for use as a Windows Media Center DVR Computer like me, you'll notice a background flicker on live tv or recorded tv.
Mine is the Mac Mini (Late 2012 Model) with Intel HD 4000 Graphics
If you go into the Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel. (icon in lower right) Go to Graphics Properties, Advanced Mode, Media, Image Enhancement, and UN-check the box for "Adaptive Contrast Enhanscement"
Video will then be flicker free!  (aka 29/59 bug)
Here's a video that walks you through it.

Also, if you have white snow, or video blank outs their is a firmware update for the Mac Mini 2012 model itself.   I use Boot Camp, so my Mac OS X Mountain Lion side could update things when needed.  (but leave the machine running 99% of the time in Windows 8 as my DVR)

I am running Windows7 on my PVC. When I log in I'm getting two Apple error messages. One says, " The procedure entry point sqlite3_wal_checkpoint could not be located in the dynamic link library SQLite3.dll." The second says, "Apple Photostreams Uploader has stopped working".  Help!

Entry point errors can often be fixed by deleting the offending dll, then repairing the component it is part of. If that doesn't help read on...
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases.
Or roll back to the previous build:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)

  • Dynamic Link Media Server error - lost video reference file and can't replace

I've had this problem twice in the last 4 days and both times it's coincided with an internet drop-out in the office. I've imported an uncompressed QT .mov into Audition CC, splitting the video and audio tracks, and added both to a multitrack session. I'm using the video reference track to sync SFX to an animation. The problem is that the video track stops playing in the video window, and Audition crashes. We've had problems with our internet connection and this problem occured when the internet dropped out. I wait for the internet to come back online and restart Audition, and get the following message:
"This file can only be imported using the Dynamic Link Media Server process, but it is still starting and cannot yet be used. Please wait while the process initializes and we import the selected files."
The app takes 30 seconds to load and my video reference track has disappeared and is labelled "Offline". I can't replace it in the multitrack timeline, even if I try to reimport the original .mov file into the project it only displays the file as audio with no video. I'm not using Premier and don't need to sync between apps, I just need Audition to recognise a video track on my local hard drive.
FYI: I'm running OS X 10.9.1 with Audition CC and have turned on "Enable DMLS Format support" in preferences.
Any help would be much appreciated as I'm thinking of reverting to Ableton!

Is this DMLS update ok for CC apps? RE: 10.9.1, looks like that update is for Mac Pro late 2013 machines, I'm running off a Mac Pro from 2010. Sounds like it wont be compatible?
On the 'about' link it says at the top "The OS X Mavericks v10.9.1 Update is recommended for all OS X Mavericks users." Sounds pretty unequivocal to me. You'd need absolute confirmation from Durin, but I can't on the face of it see why the latest version of DMLS wouldn't be compatible with the previous version - IOW, it should be fine. If either isn't, then they should refuse to install. But with the way that Apple has screwed up Mavericks, in all honesty, all bets are off about that, and I'm glad that I'm a W7 PC user.
I've wasted quite a lot of time lately fixing several ridiculous problems with Macs, including Mountain Lion's amazing ability to trash Wifi, etc, and quite frankly, I'm not impressed with them at all. So it's not blind prejudice, or even blatent bias this time either - FWIW I'm similarly underwhelmed with Windows 8.
