Dynamic Mode on the DDTS-100

I have a set of Gigaworks S700 plugged into my DDTS-00 hooked up to my DVD player via Coax and man does it sound great. My question is about Dynamic Mode, it is very vague to what it does and it also lists something optional for it etc...what is optional for dynamic mode? How does it work...how do you know if its on or off? Any info on this will help. Not very much info on the site or in the manual. And if I send a email to support it usually doesnt get anwsered...or they dont know what it is either.

Dynamic is the default. Notice this: When you press the Dynamic mode button on the remote, all of the LED's on the decoder's volume button will flash, press it again and only 4 of the volume buttons LED's will flash - this is how you tell the difference. All LED's = uncompressed/loud and 4 LED's = compressed/quiet (default). Apart from that, I should also mention that your own ears should tell you the difference (uncompressed, the default mode, is less loud). Well, I say less loud, but what in fact it does is minimise or ballance the difference between Dolby Digital or DTS's encoded loud and quiet sounds. Ballancing them so say at night for example, when peeps are sleeping nearby, you will hear the 'quiets' and the 'louds' without the major jumps between the two.
I would like to add, the difference that dynamic mode does is very much less than my old Inspire 5500 decoder/speaker set-up. When I pressed it on that system, the sound cut-out for one second and then came back in in the uncompressed state. The difference was MASSIVE. It's still fairly noticeable on DDTS-100 though.
Unless it's late and you don't want to wake other people, I suggest you get into the habit of pressing this each time you turn the decoder on. This way you will get the full whack of Dolby Digital/DTS's encoding - with the big booms and subtle background sounds heard as they were intended to be heard. Also check your DVD player's settings for a similar mode, I found that on mine the default was compressed, like the DDTS-100 is, after a year of owning this player, I suddenly found this setting, changed it.... and bejeezus it is better. :smileytongue:

  • Question about the Headphone Jacks on the DDTS-100

This is probably a strange question, but I am goona ask anyway...
Anyone know whether the headphone jacks on the DDTS-100 gets Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Pro Logic II? I know it supports it for speakers, but I am unsure about headphones.
I am considering buying this with Medusa 5.1 Headphones, and I am trying to figure out whether the Dolby Pro Logic II would work with those.
From what I understand regular 5.1 Headphones do not use the 5 channels unless it is a 5 channel source like a DVD. What I am thinking is that the Dolby Pro Logic II on the decoder might solve that?
    Would this work?
    Thanks for your time!

Thank you both very much for your help!
Yes, I was considering pluging it in exactly as ya just mentioned connecting the headphones via the speaker ports, since the Medusa Headphones do have the same plugs as the 5.1 speakers.
Soo, that might work then? Cool! ty
Now that I look at it, the headphones instructions on the cords on the net mentions pluging it in exactly like that.
    Thanks again!,

  • Question about the DDTS-100

    Hey all,
(I'm not sure if someone asked this already, but I'm gonna ask anyway :smileyvery-happy: .)
I'm not sure if I read the features right, but does the DDTS-100 allow you to
be able to listen to more than one input at once, say I'd be able to play music from a
CD Changer and play a game of Half-life 2 and hear both of them.
    Thanks in advance,
    Brandon

    Stuffy,
The DDTS-100 will only play from one source at a time. This is much in the same way that a component receiver works.

  • DVD audio and the DDTS--100

Whenever i play7 a dvd audio cd through vlc player, the DDTS-100 doesn't detect it's DTS.
Its the same with Power DVD, it doesn't detect DTS and so plays nothing.
What am i doing wrong? When i play it through vlc, i have to use ned 6 or pro logic II.
    Thanks

Not sure what you mean about disabling AC3. In audio controls i have set it to SPDIF.
DVD movies work fine in VLC and Power DVD.
Audio cd's that are encoded in DTS do not. They are not detected by the decoder, and doesn't set it to DTS like it does with movies that are encoded in DTS. (True DTS, not Pro-Logic II or NED:6).
I've set in the options of VLC, to use SPDIF where possible, only it doesn't show when playing them. I only get the option of changing from mono, stereo, front and rear, and 5.1. When selecting 5.1, it isn't right, some sounds aren't audiable. Stereo isnt either. This makes me believe that the software is doing the decoding, not the DDTS-100, which must be true, as i only get the options of PLII and NED:6 on the DDTS-100 box, instead of it lighting up as DTS, DTS-ES etc.
    So what do i do?
Winamp causes it to play white noise, as does Power DVD (which is set to SPDIF, evidenced by the fact it plays DTS movies fine) and WMP.
Do you need seperate DTS audio codecs for Power DVD? I heard this may be the case but you have to pay, seems odd that you need to purchase seperate drivers for dts audio cds, yet the movie plays ok.
    Cheers

  • Connecting creative inspire 6600 to the ddts-100 decoder

ok so i was sedused by the idea of getting a ddts-100 to my inspire 6600 speakers, but the fact is i need to know some information:
the first thing is:will i be able to connect my speakers to the decoder and then to the soundcard?
my speakers have only RCA jacks for the satellites to connect them to the amp,and the amp have 3 assebled wires,3.5mm ones...my soundcard have also 3 connectors for the speakers,no digital output or optical,..only 3 connectors for the 3.5mm...so will i be able to connect it and then will it be able to reproduce sound like it was doing before?
2-the decoder says it can decode dolby digital ex,dts es,i don't know if i am saying this right but, sometimes we say decoding in 24bits/96khz .....its the dvd quality right? then will the decoder DECODE the dvd source in 24bits/96khz or is it the job of the soundcard?
3-will the decoder improve the listening experience in quality or surround?in case of dvd playing i know it would, but in case of listening to music?

    shin8,
Are you getting proper output if you use the "TEST" button on the remote control?

  • Can I hybrid to 7.1 on the DDTS-100 (i.e. Klipsch 5.1 Ultra + Logitech Z-2200 2.1)

    Obviously this wouldn't create a 7.2 signal.
    The way I'd do it:
Z-2200 powering front speakers (their cables are short and you can't make your own) with I guess a "matrix subwoofer"
Ultra's powering Center + rears + rear center with a "descrete subwoofer"
    Would this work?

Sounds like a problem with your GPU. Do you have an external display you could connect your machine to in order to test this? If the external display renders the same way, then your GPU is damaged. If the external renders fine, then the CPU display is damaged.

  • DDTS 100 coaxial mode stuck to stereo

Im a newbie when it comes to surround sounds.
I just bought DDTS100 because I want to take advantage of the digital output from my new Audigy 2 ZS soudcard and i need a decoder for my 5.1 speaker (Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1). I plugged everything according to instructions, using coaxial digital output from my soundcard. However, the DDTS is STUCK TO STEREO MODE, I cannot make it to switch to Dolby Digital PL II, or DTS NEO. I enabled digital output only and enabled SPDIF passthrough (DD/DTS digital out)on Creative audio settings. I tried playing DVD movies with Dolby digital & DTS and MP3/wave music but i get same result. It makes my speaker work as 2.1 in stereo mode and the signals are crappy in DVD movies. Analog output does work well with movies or music as i tried using analog from my soudcard,I can switch to DD PLII and DTS with no problem. I haven't tried optical output since my soudcard does'nt have one.
I just want my coaxial/digital mode to work on DD PL II and DTS, please ideas anyone?

What connection did you use? SPDIF / digital or analog? Did you connect your speaker directly to your DDTS-100 or to the switchbox that came with the DDTS-100?

  • DDTS-100 and S750 Installation / Test Mode Question

I got a DDTS-100 decoder for Xmas and just bought the gigaworks S750's yesterday to replace my old DTT-3500. I plugged the decoder and sub for S750 into the wall and hooked the two up via the 7.1 cable. I then plugged the front and centre speakers into the sub. I'm not going to set up the side and rear speakers for a couple of days as I'm painting. Anyways, I then powered on the sub (green light comes on) and the decoder (it lights up fine). The decoder is set to 5.1. There are no other inputs hooked into the decoder. Then using the remote I hit test mode, the decoder goes in to test mode but I get nothing out of the speakers. I've cranked the volume way up and still get nothing. Do I have to plug all seven speakers in for test mode to work? Do I have to have an analog or optical input, or should test mode just work by itself. Do I have to plug in the little control centre which comes with the S750's, I didn't bother because I have the decoder.
Any ideas on why I'm not getting any sound? Any other suggestions of things to try?
    Thx.

Thx, that resolved the issue, I didn't think I'd need it because I had the decoder which basically does the same thing.
One question about the upmix. Because I am using the DDTS-100 with the gigaworks S750's, does it make more sense to enable the upmix through the control centre for the speakers or through the DDTS-750. Would it make more sense to use the S750 as there are a couple of different upmix modes there?
Also, with the volume control for the speakers, should I just set the volume on the Control Centre which came with the speakers to a level such as 75% and then use the DDTS-100 to control the volume levels after that, or should I crank the Control Centre up higher?
    Thx.

  • What speakers work with the Creative Labs DDTS-100 Digital Decoder-Upto 7.1

what speakers do the Creative Labs DDTS-100 Digital Decoder-Upto 7.1 work with thanks

Unless the Digital 5500 speaker set has analog inputs it can't be used with the DDTS-100. You must connect the DDTS-100 to a speaker system through the analog outputs either from the main unit or the switchbox. I have not heard of any cables to convert analog audio into digital form so digital speakers can understand and play it.
The best speaker system? I have absolutely no idea dude. You must be the judge of that, if it is you who are going to listen to it. I like my S750 system but that is me. You have to read loads of info and reviews and preferably listen to them in a store if you can.

  • DDTS-100 - what's the wattage?

I have a DDTS-100 from Singapore that I want to use here in the US.
I went ahead and bought a step-up converter which has the specs:
    INPUT: /20VAC, 260mA, 60Hz
    OUTPUT: 220/240VAC, 65 mA, 60HZ
    My ac adapter says:
    INPUT: 230V ~ 50Hz 00mA
    OUTPUT: 6V ~ 600ma
Can I use my AC adapter with this converter? I was told since the DDTS-100 doesn't have a motor, the discrepancy in Hz shouldn't matter?
    Thank you!

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
Ultra ATA/100 and ATA-6 are the same standard. In looking at the Seagate site, they only list Ultra ATA/100 as the parallel interface (versus the different Serial ATA or SATA interface which won't work in a PPC PowerBook).
Seagate now warranties their drives for 5 years versus 3 years for most other vendors. There might be one or two with less than a 3 year warranty, and that's just not competitive.
You'll need to make a choice between speed and size. 7200 RPM drives carry a price premium over equivalent 5400RPM drives and top out around 100GB in size. 5400 RPM drives go up to 160GB.
If you look at OWC at http://www.macsales.com at their notebook hard drive page, the left side of the page lists drives which will work. The right side are SATA drives, which won't work.

  • Can I replace the Inspire 5500 decoder with a DDTS-100

    Hi,
All I want to do is replace the decoder that comes with the Inspire 5.1 Digital 5500 set with a DDTS-100, and continue to use the same speakers. Is this possible?
The only thing I can see preventing this is that at the moment the the sub and the decoder have to be connected via a din socket (for control and power), but there is no din input on the DDTS-100. Will this be a problem?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Ddts-100 + dtt3500

I have owned and used my DTT3500 Digital speakers happily for 3 and a half years now. But I have recently bought the DDTS-00 decoder so I could also enjoy DTS encoded material (which the DTT3500 does not support). I've succesfully connected the DTT3500 speakers to the DDTS-100 and made all of them work, but have currently 2 problems:
    1) The output volume level is EXCESSIVELY low, either with Dynamic Mode on or off. I've read somewhere here in the forums that is because the DTT3500 decoder is also an amplifier and the DDTS is only a decoder. Well, if that's the case, could I just buy any amplifier and use it connected between the decoder and the speakers?
    2) This problem has me puzzled. The DTT3500 speaker cables are RCA mono, but the DDTS-100 has only stereo mini-plug inputs. So, since my father owns an electric supply shop, I simply got 3 2RCA-stereo miniplug converters. I connected the 2 front speakers to one and connected the miniplug to the front input of the DDTS and did the same with the 2 rear speakers, and the center-subwoofer. I get output for all of them EXCEPT the subwoofer when I hit the test button on the DDTS-100 remote control. Mind you that the center speaker DOES work. How can I solve this?
Thank you so much in advance!

This is simply because the DDTS-100, is a standalone decoder, not an amplifier.
You could try messing around with an amplifier, and see if you can make your own setup with an amplifier and the decoder.
    Good Luck

  • European to UK Adapter work on a Creative DDTS-100?

    Hi
I got a Creative Decoder DDTS-100 of a friend but it only comes with a European AC power supply that has two round prongs and I need one for the UK mains, so I was wondering if anyone knows whether one of those European to UK Adapters would work with the DDTS-100 and if they would then what strength of fuse would would I need in order to power the DDTS-100?
I have tried a adapter my mom gave me but it only has a amp fuse inside it and it didn`t power the DDTS-100 so i`m wondering if it would be because the amp on the fuse is too low?
