Dynamic number of xml files with a specified max size

Hi all,
I'm using a custom report to generate xml files (via a ST program and a call transformation) containing
data belonging to is-u invoices (some are much more complex and rich of data than other ones).
I'm asked to generate the minimun number of xml files, the only limit is their maximum size (40 MB).
How can I dynamically understand when I need to save an xml file and generate the next one if the
size is only readable after the transformation,as far as I know?

My problem is that different users may be loading different files.
As there may be many simultaneous users and the xml document nodes do not get edited in any way, I only want to have one copy of each file in memory .... hence the application scope.
If I make the var name fixed then a user loading xml2.xml would overwrite any previous file xml1.xml or whatever.
I could switch to session scope but that would load possibly hundreds of copies of any given file at any given time and the files are not small :-(

Loading XML file with missing elements dynamically through ODI

Hi Guys ,
I have the below xml file with two nodes Employee and Address. On a daily basis , sometimes the address element might not come in from the source xml file , but my interface has columns mapped to address elements, and hence it can fail due to the source element not being found in the file or data might not get loaded due to the 'and' condition in the sql query generated between the employee and address elements. Is there a way where i can load the data dynamically where i can search in the file only for the elements (Employee) present and load data only for those elements dynamically?

I was able to resolve it by using left outer joins and referring the table structure from the XSD

Combine several XML files with same structure

Hello,
I have several XML files with the same structure and I want to combine them and create a new XML file to be bale to compare that information easily. It does not look very difficult but as I am very new in this I am not bale to get it
The structure of my actual files would be something simlar to:
Root->...-> Name->Address, Telephone
And what I would like to have si something like
Root->.... ->Address-> Name 1,Name 2....
Root -> ...->Telephone-> Name 1, Name 2....
Does anyone know how to do this.

You could write a XSL transformation file that does this and transform your input file via

File Adapter : read XML file with data validation and file rejection ?

Hello,
In order to read a XML file with the file adapter, I have defined a XSD that I have imported to my project.
Now the File Adapter reads the file correctly but it does not give an error when:
- the data types are not valid. Ex: dateTime is expected in a node and a string is provided
- the XML file has invalid attributes.
How can I manage error handling for XML files ?
Should I write my own Java XPath function to validate the file after is processed ? (here is an example for doing this : http://www.experts-exchange.com/Web/Web_Languages/XML/Q_21058568.html)

one option is to specify validateXML on the partnerlink (that describes the file adapter endpoint) such as shown here

Limit on number of XML files used ?

Hi,
Am user of 4.5 workgroup since 2 years and am recently also testing our models on engage2008. We make datadashboards with sometimes large datasets (25 column, 10000rows in excel), sometimes using XML sometimes all contained.
Is there a limit on the number of XML files -mapped in excel - that can be handled by xcelsius ? There also seems to be a difference in loading time ; when the XML files are mapped to 1 single sheet in excel, the loading/importing into xcelsius seems to go a lot faster.
Any advice on this ?

It is not always the 10000 rows, and we have several dashboards with XML files (max 1335 rows) that work fine. The question still is if there is a limit on the actual number of XML files attached, or is it a limit on the total linked datavolume ?
There also seems to be a difference when the XML files are mapped on the same excel sheet (faster import).

Clear the server output .
Replicate the same steps and once error shows up , refresh server output and copy the logs to a text file and upload here .

Dynamic Link Buttons & xml file

Create controls dynamically based on XML file

Hi All,
I am very new to Flex environment. I am trying to integrate FLEX with ASP.net for better UI interfacing.
May I know if is it possible to draw fields (Text boxes, option buttons, etc) on the Flex dynamically using a XML file at runtime.
What my expectation is, if I have an XML file with the filed names and type, can the Flex draw them on the front end UI?

And is there possible if I have a .php file, and then I want to create a portlet based on that .php fileNot directly.
If you are going to run the PHP file in its own machine then you could use a browser or clipper portlet. If you want to run the PHP file on the JVM itself, I believe there are some commercial products that let you do this (then its equivalent to a JavaServlet). This could then be included by any dummy JSP and you could use a plain jsp portlet . however you wqould have to be careful how you generate links within the PHP file (because you'd have to mimic the way BEA tags behave) .
never tried this and if you have few PHP pages then you could probably rewrite to java.

It seems you are asking in wrong forum. AFAIK, you are asking "how to add HTTP header to response generated by my own script". It depend on WWW server we are speaking of and language of script itself. If you will fail to found solution within documentation of the HTTP server and/or scripting language you are using, then the better place for your question is a forum related to such language and HTTP server.
In meantime, you can try other solituin. The "Refresh: 0;..." header is required for correct function of SoftKey:Next which is displayed by default. But you can redefine the content of SoftKey area using your own key. Such configuration is part of DirectoryObject you sent to phone. See definition of SoftKey 3 in example bottom. It's not original SoftKey:Next that depend on Refresh header. It's my own custom soft-key named "Next" with exact URL defined as part of key definition (replace 'N' with number of next page). It doesn't depend on Refresh header in any way. You should consider such advice as "temporary workaround". You should discover how to send HTTP header 'Refresh' from your script. Note, it's not possible to redefine one SoftKey only. If you wish to redefine a soft-key, then all soft-keys need's to be defined by you.

I write a program to create XML file with DOM model, but I can't know how to save it? My environment is JAXP1.1 and JDK1.3.1,I has been required not use other XML parser toolkits,only JAXP1.1.

The way to save an XML Document is using a Transformer.
To have access to a transformer use the packages :

Then for saving your Document Object (named dXml) get a Transformer Object with the TransformerFactory Object :

Now you have got your Transformer Object, to save your Document Object use the method :
Document dXml = getMyDocument(); // this is your Document Object.
OutputStream osSave = getMySaveStream(); // this the OutputStream you need to save your Document.

t.transform(new DomSource(dXml), new StreamResult(new OutputStreamWriter(osSave)));
finally
osSave.close();
And your Document was now saved.

Hi i m new to xml and java combination. I have a name value pair kind of output returning from java program. I want to generate the new xml file with the data. Could some one help me out in generating xml file with the data. Could anyone send me the java code that does this task.

Create xml file with values from context

Hi experts!
I am trying to implement a WD application that will have some input fields, the value of those input fields will be used to create an xml file with a certain format and then sent to a certain application.
Apart from this i want to read an xml file back from the application and then fill some other context nodes with values from the xml file.
Is there any standard used code to do this??
If not how can i do this???

Hi,
you need to create three util class for that:-
XMLHandler
XMLParser
XMLBuilder
for example in my XML two tag item will be there e.g. Title and Organizer,and from ur WebDynpro view you need to pass value for the XML tag.
And u need to call buildXML()function of builder class to generate XML, in that i have passed bean object to get the values of tags. you need to set the value in bean from the view ui context.
