Dynamic sitemap.xml

Hi All,
How can I create dynamic sitemap.xml file?
Is there built in functionality?
The Site Map functionality? suggests the way to create human readable sitemap,
but I need sitemap for search engines (like Google).
Thanks

There's no "built-in" functionality, but you can easily write one yourself based off the "built-in" sample code.

• Dynamic Sitemaps

Hello,
I am working on my first BC site and am having trouble with sitemaps.
First, I would like to display a dynamic sitemap as a page on my site, but everything I have read indicates that there is no built-in functionality within BC for this.
Second, my sitemap.xml doesn't list all of my pages. It appears this is generated by BC, but I'm not sure why it is excluding the latest pages. Is there an administration function to re-generate a new sitemap?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Jonathan,
Sitemap.xml is updated every night basically. So if you have added pages in it will not show up until the next refresh.
Under site manager you can see the sitemap module in BC to insert into a page, once you insert that into a page this is then static and would need to be updated manually to reflect new pages and changes.

• Insert a trademark symblol to my swf dynamicly using XML

hello there,
i am trying to insert a trademark symblol to my swf dynamicly
using XML,
i tried every thing i could "caved the xml in every format
known to man kind, wrote some AS script to replace thin join, i
tried to hard code the symble" but nothing worked.
i am running flash8.
help is needed plz.
today is the DEAD LINE.
plz.

Okay, test files are up in the following directory:
www.saffronthread.com/test
You can guess which ones are for you. I didn't deal with the
whole IE stupidness, so you my need to click on the page. But I've
got several different text fields some runtime some author
environment and sample text. Works for me on Mac and on the PC I
checked. Let me know what you find out.
As for System.useCodePage it is very seldom an actual
solution to the problem. It is a solution for when you want to be
sure that the user's Flash Plugin uses the computer's code page for
text rendering. Read the help entry for it and you will see that it
is not a solution for making sure that the most people possible
will correctly receive my text. It is more a solution for, I want
to make sure that those with Chinese operating systems are able to
correctly see the Chinese text I have encode with my special
encoding.
Most questions that get a "Oh, you must use
System.useCodePage answer" are more like, "I want to make sure that
everybody on every type of system can see my special characters."
The answer for that tends toward proper use of UTF-8 and that is my
guess for your problem. That your XML file is not being saved as
UTF-8. If System.useCodePage is helping you that tells me that your
XML editor is saving to some odd (maybe very popular, but not
UTF-8) encoding.

• What does "domain name is used for your typekit fonts & SEO sitemap.xml" mean?

Why is Muse now asking, on either uploading files via Muse or externally through another ftp, for a domain name that is used for your typekit fonts & SEO sitemap.xml?
I used Muse for exporting my files to ftp externally a few months back and I could add whatever I liked into the domain name field (which made sense as I could choose an appropriate name). I upgraded Muse this morning and now no domain name I add in here is accepted and on hovering over the info icon I get a "domain name is used for your typekit fonts & SEO sitemap.xml. What does that mean exactly?
If anyone can help?

Hi Guys
Great thread Omniscient! Like Bian, my username is just my name. It's a unisex name and caused a nice little debate in the early days of this forum as to whether I was male or female!
Kerry is from the Irish meaning 'dark-haired' but I am a blondie (natural blonde when younger, bottle blonde now I am older!) I think my mum just liked the name...
There are lots of interesting usernames out there - tell us about them and where they come from!

• Up: Modification du fichier sitemap.xml (Adobe Muse)

là, ça a bien écrasé l'ancien sitemap ! ouf !

• Sitemap.xml 404 error

I recently had to change the domain name on my site. It was set up with google apps and webmaster tools, and everything was working great. The sitemap indexed my pages, and it was easy. I added a new domain name, and I have the old one forwarding to the new one. Everything seems to be working fine. The forwards work, and the page works great, but I keep getting a 404 page not found error when I try submitting the new sitemap.xml to google. WHAT IS THE DEAL? The support people on the chat thing can't seem to help me. They told me they would resubmit and it would work in 24 hours. It never worked. It's been like 6 days. I don't think anything is changing. Has anyone had this problem? Any way to work around it. If I can't get my sitemap submitted, I can't optimize my search results, and my page is useless to me. HELP!

Because the domain is not acting line a website, its just a forward. It is void of content, it has no content, it is just pointing to your new domain and that is what has the sitemap.
You already have this:
http://www.crabtreedermatology.com/sitemap.xml
And as you add content this updates every night.
Your also changing what say in nearly every post first you talk about old domain and your new domain sitemap is fine, then you saying the new one is not working when it is.
In terms of old information you have to give google time to understand you changed domain and wait for it to filter out the results. You can not just change a sites domain like you have an have instant results. It does not work like that.
You can set up webmaster tools for the new domain, add the sitemap.xml for the new domain (not the old one) and then allow google to crawl and then you can deny urls and control what google reads and knows from there.

• Submitting adobe muse website sitemap.xml files to google?

Can anyone help me with submitting my site to google.
I realise adobe muse automatically creates a sitemap.xml file, however I am not sure how to submit this to Google?
Is there a way to upload the sitemap.xml file into the muse sites' root folder.
Thanks.

I have tried this but am still not sure how to fix it in muse? This is the message I get when I check the URL :

This is an auto-generated file, updated daily. To use your own sitemap.xml, simply upload it in the root folder of your site. To disable the auto-generated sitemap, upload an empty sitemap.xml file.

• Google not liking sitemap.xml formatting

Received this in Google WMT this morning for a few sites:
"An invalid date was found. Please fix the date or formatting before resubmitting".
Parent tag: url
Tag: lastmod
Value: 2013-11-20T04:05:11 +00:00
Has BC changed the formatting in the last couple of days? If so, please could they be changed back again?

Hi Liam,
Thanks for your help on that, much appreciated.
One of my sites, google has now accepted the sitemap without errors.
However, another of my sites google still reports errors on the sitemap.xml, regarding the invalid time and date.
any thoughts?

• Howto dynamicly bind XML element to a TextInput using BindingUtils?

The question is: Howto dynamicly bind XML element to a
TextInput component using BindingUtils?
Now I use following codes:

<mx:TextInput id="txtDemo"/>
<mx:Button label="Test" click="test()"/>
My really idea is when bindable xml property is changed, then
the textinput will be updated as hoped. However, no update happens
to me when I click the Test button.
But, if I make codes like that:
<mx: TextInput id="txtDemo" text="{xml.label}"/>
the text will updated when xml changs.
So, what happened, I indeed need the dynamicly bind to the
textinput compont.
Help me. thanks.

You could use an ObjectProxy since all subproperties will
then be bindable:
private var _xml:XML =

list1
;
private var _opXML:ObjectProxy = new ObjectProxy(_xml);
then in your init() function you declare _opXML as the host
object with the bindable property "label"...
// initialize code for application's initialize event
public function init(): void {
BindingUtils.bindProperty(txtDemo, "text", _opXML, "label");
//click event
private function test(): void {
_opXML.label = "something";
You'll notice that if you check your original _xml.label
property with ChangeWatcher.canWatch(), it returns false. But if
you create a dedicated object with a property that can be declared
as bindable, canWatch() returns true. You'd probably be best off to
write a lightweight class that can act as your model if you want to
work with dynamic XML binding using Actionscript. This will allow
you to use a bindable getter and setter that will give you the
dynamic functionality you're looking for.
Hope that helps.

• Sitemap.xml is not up-to-date

I was browsing in webmaster tools and I noticed that there was an alert that Google was experiencing crawl errors on my site. I noticed that the crawl errors were 404 page not found and that the pages were old pages that have expired or are disabled. Then I looked at the sitemap.xml and noticed that they are still in the feed. Is there a way to update the sitemap.xml so that it updates/regenerates? It looks to me that new pages are being added to the sitemap.xml file but expired and disabled pages are not being removed. Thanks!

Thanks Liam. I took a copy of sitemap.xml off the site and copied it to the root of the site via FTP. How long before I can delete the file so that the system regenerates? Or did I do this right at all?
Plus, since my site is always changing, I'm guessing that I have to do this periodically.

• Add 'offsite' links to sitemap.xml

Sometimes an 'offsite' link isn't really 'off site'. For instance, if you incorporate a WordPress, or other, blog into your Muse created site with an offsite link to that blog. That blog link needs to be in your sitemap.xml. In fact, all of the blog's pages need to be in the sitemap. Currently, I have to manually add the offsite link to my blog's folder to the sitemap every time I re-publish from Muse, as it overwrites the previous sitemap.xml.

try calling dbms_xmlgen.setrowsettag(qryctx,'siteMap') ;
before retrieving the result with DBMS_XMLGEN.getxmltype (qryctx);

• How can incorporate the phone pages to sitemap.xml / Adobe Muse

I created a web page with Adobe Muse with desk and phone plataform. The problem I have is that the phone plataform was not included in sitemap.xml
I need to know if I did something wrong or this could really happen as it is a new software.
Is there any way to contact you by phone ?
Anybody speeks spanih ?
The main problem is that Google does not read the phone plataform as the sitemap.xml does not make a difference between the desk and phone plataform as both have the same name in the .html code.
I am not supposed to change any information as the pages come as default.
my web page is: www.anazoe.cl
HELP !!!!!!

Url like <loc>http://www.anazoe.cl/phone/contaco-evento.html</loc> are added to your sitemap, http://www.anazoe.cl/sitemap.xml
We generate one sitemap for whole site which includes the information about phone and tablet , it should be fine with single sitemap because Google knows that desktop pages are canonical.
Thanks,
Sanjit
