Dynamic Smart Array B220i RAID Controller keeps loosing Logical Drive after power shutdown.
Hi, I own two HP Microservers Gen8. I added SSD drive on the DVD SATA port in both. I created Raid 0 over the SSD Drive that I can boot from it, but everytime I shutdown the box (power outage), the logical drive is lost. Note that the logical drive is not lost on reboot. Only when the box is is shutdown. Any ideas why is this happening? Here are repro steps: Enter Smart Storage Administrator
Select onDynamic Smart Array B220i RAID CtrollerClick on "Unassigned Drive" Screen shows me:SATA HDD:
- 3TB Port1:Bay1
- 3TB Port2:Bay2 SATA SSD
- 120GB Port5:Bay5 I selected Sata SSD drive in Port5:Bay5I clicked on "Create Array"
On a next screen I select the following:
I selected RAID 0, 256 KiB Stripe Size, 32 Sectors, Maximum Size
I click on "Create Logical Drive" On a next screen:
A message: Logical Drive was successfully created.
I click on Finish
I exit the Smart Storage Manager and reboot the system. The server boots from the Raid0 Array (Sata SSD Drive in Port5:Bay5) -> No problem If I just reboot the server, it boots from the Raid0 Array. - No problemIf I shut down the server (or during Power outage), the Smart Array tells me that there is no logical array during the boot. The boot fails. -> Qualifies for a problem.
Please can you explain why is the logical drive lost after power loss? Why the controller does not remember the setting? Other details:- Dynamic Smart Array B220i RAID Controller (v3.54.0)- When I boot to Smart Storage Administrator after power failure, I can recreate the Raid 0 over the SSD drive and boot again - this a work around the issue. Thank you for your advise.Jiri

B320i Dynamic Smart Array - no RAID (HBA) mode vs. FBWC
Hi,
I want to use a DL360e Gen8 server with B320i SAS controller with 512MB FBWC cache module. Because of Linux drivers, I plan to switch the controller to "no RAID" (HBA) mode in RBSU.
The question: Is the FBWC write-back cache still working when B320i is switched to "no RAID" ("Raid Disable", "HBA") mode?
Thanks. The FBWC module is available only when using the B320i (which requires that RAID mode is enabled).

Alternate tools for MegaCli for RAID configuration and creating logical drives
Hello Everyone,
Are you aware of tools which could be an alternative for MegaCli.
Used for creating logical drives and configuring RAIDs.
Thanks in advance,
AnirudhFor some machines, you can use sas2ircu or raidctl command, or the commands directly in OBP level.

Hp 6700 keeps loosing wireless signal after setting up on new network
I have just moved the printer to a new location and followed the istruction to set up a new wireless connection. The connection was made and the printer worked fine. But then the next morning it had "forgotten" the new wireless network.
I reset the network connection and everything seemed ok again, including scanning etc. but then this morning it is printing but not able to connect the scanner.
It seems to be "forgetting" its settings.
Any help appreciated.Hi there @MiguelFdS
Welcome to the forums!
I read your post about your printer "forgetting" it's wireless settings, since moving to another location. I would suggest for you to try assigning a static IP, which should help stabilize the wireless connections and prevent the disconnections.
Here is the guide to help you: Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection
I hope this helps

KT4V keeps losing lan driver after shutdown
Hi All
Was wondering if anyone came across this problem... just bought a kt4v when i upgraded my wifes pc the lan controller says it is via vt6103 lan controller but there are no drivers on supplied cd also when the pc is shutdown it loses the network adapter drivers so everytime it boots up from being shutdown i am having to install the drivers again. If anyone has had similar problem please let me know.
Thanks in Advance
JohnDefinitely go with the driver Bas suggested. Since you didn't really say where you got your original driver from (I am willing to bet anything the driver is on the CD but hidden really well), I would warn against using drivers that Via might supply. In my experience, I've come across problems using those drivers for such devices (modems have been the worst for me ). I like to stick with the drivers provided by whoever makes the motherboard, add-in card, etc. Though, I will say that Via 4in1's and nVidia Detonators have been pretty good, usually because video card and motherboard manufacturers, like MSI, don't make unique drivers necessary to the best of my knowledge (they just post the same ones about a month later ). Anyways, I have that board, and I haven't had a problem with it.

Dynadock V Keeps Updating same driver after restart and wont connect to external monitor
Earlier this week dynadock did an update and now everytime my computer turns on it installs the same update and says successfully installed. Ever since this started my second monitor connected through dynadock is not working. I've checked cords, cycled power to everything and still the same.
Performed system restore as far back as it would allow me, but i do not believe that it was far enough. Still had same problem. I attempted to uninstall only the video driver, and it failed, so i attempted to uninstall all of dynadock and everything but video driver uninstalled it failed again. restarted tried again failed again. So i'm running the install cd now see if maybe i'll get lucky and it'll work it'self out. but i doubt it.
Any idea how to get the video driver uninstalled? I can't find it under device manager either. -
Time Machine Keeps Selecting Different Drive After Restart
Here is my situation, which is a bit different from most people's I think:
I have a Mac Pro running 10.5.5 with 4 internal hard drives: 250GB Original, 750GB, 750GB, and a 500GB. I also have a MacBook. I used to have things setup so that my iTunes for the Macbook was stored over the network on a 750GB drive, and the Mac Pro AND the Macbook had their Time Machine files on the 500GB.
Then I switched things around so that the iTunes is now on the 500GB and the Time Machine is on a 750GB. I used "restore" in disk utility to copy over the Time Machine files (although this worked it could only be done a specific way after much trial and error - ask for details if interested). It worked, and the Mac Pro backs up flawlessly right where it left off on the new drive.
The Macbook WILL find and load the old sparse file from its new location. But I have to manually select it EVERY TIME. The problem is that despite the fact that I completely erased the 500GB drive first, it stills defaults to that drive for TM. AND this is AFTER I have thrown out the time machine preferences from the library. It will work fine for infinite backups as long as I don't shut down the computer. As soon as I restart, it defaults back to the other drive and I have to repeat that cycle all over again of throwing out the preferences, changing the TM disk, and it is never easy to get it to "see" the drive I want...etc.
Any thoughts much appreciated!Glenn,
Thanks so much for your reply. Unfortunately that did not work. As soon as I connect to my iTunes drive, I can see the name of the backups volume change in the TM preferences pane from "backups" (what it should be) to "music."
In the interest of presenting as much info as possible, I will add that I always have to select my iTunes folder before opening the Itunes app. I had it set up before (when drives were reversed) so that my "music" volume would open as a login item, since I was tired of doing it manually every time. The TM just mounted normally whenever it needed to. It worked perfectly. I thought that maybe I could fix this current problem by having BOTH my music and backups volumes mount at startup. Interestingly, even if I select them both, the mac will only mount one or the other, not both - in fact one of the drives disappears from the accounts>login items pane after startup as if I had never put it there! It CAN mount two drives though if I select another, third drive that I also have shared that is neither for music or backups. Just not THESE two. I am at a loss....I am pretty sure I erased these drives before making the switch - I know one of them I even wrote to zeros.... Thanks again. -
Smart Array P800 Controller Accelerator issue
Hello there.
We are running a DL180 G6 with a Smart Array P800 disc controller and 8 harddrives in RAID 5.
When logging into the server using HP System Management Homepage it states that the 'Accelerator' is disabled, and this accelerator have brought us lots of grief.
This particular disc controller are using two batteries to power a disk cache, and initially we interpreted this issue as coming from faulty batteries and replaced the first one, and then both.
This did not address the error message.
As that did not address it we have since then done the following:
Verified configuration
Cleared IML
Upgraded BIOS
Upgraded iLO
Upgraded HP server firmware+drivers
Upgraded centos
Restarting the server and booting to it using ACU:

Driver version in use is 3.6.28-RH3 (cciss, as hpsa is not compatible)
cciss is now part of the main linux kernel and should be upgraded with a yum update
The latest HP Service Pack for Proliant (2014.02.0B) is installed
The latest BIOS is installed (2013.07.01 A)
The iLO software is updated to the latest firmware (4.26)
A yum update have been issued.
Neither of the above have addressed the issue.
The only time this error message is cleared is shortly after a reboot - but it then re-occurs approx one day later.
Have anyone else experienced this issue or have any information in regards to how to fix it?
Any help would be much appreciated.

HP Smart Array Disk Mounting(?) help
I have just installed Solaris 10 (x86) on a HP Proliant DL380 G4, this involved applying the driver updates for the RAID controller to allow the Solaris install to work (there have been lots of posts about the RAID controller driver being required for the install to work)
The machine has two raid controllers the onboard 6i controller and the additional HP 6400 controller we've added to hook up the Smart Array disks
I need to know how to mount or add or configure the disks in the smart array. I think i have the driver installed for the 6400 raid controller but the next step i am not sure of. The BIOS let me configure the discs to be a RAID 5 and I was expecting to see the discs in Solaris.
Is anyone able to offer a suggestion ?
Having a HP server with a Smart Array / Storage Works device should be fairly common but Google hasn't turned up anything useful.
Further information (may or may not be useful).
In the Server BIOS i have the following information for the disk array controller:
Logical Drive #1 RAID 5 1955.8GB
Direct Attached Storage
Controller HP Smart Array 6400, Slot 3
The individual disks are (i have 8 in total):
SCSI Port 1, ID 0
SCSI Port 1, ID 1
SCSI Port 1, ID 2
SCSI Port 1, ID 3
SCSI Port 1, ID 4
SCSI Port 1, ID 5
SCSI Port 1, ID 8
SCSI Port 2, ID 0
I don't know what happened to SCSI Port 1 ID 6 and 7.
In /dev/dsk/ i have quite a few disks listed but htey don't seem to map onto the 8 disks, or the one disk logical disk i was expecting solaris to see.
I thought my disk would be something like
c1t0d0 - is the disk which Solaris install found (i think)
c2t0d0 - this is a symbolis link to devices/pci@0,0/pci8086,3599@6/pci8086,329@0/pci1014,la7@2/pciell,409c@4/sd0@0:wd
Is this my second disk ??Hi:

TS130 1105-19U RAID controller driver issues
I am trying to load WIndows 2008 Server Foundation on some ThinkServers. In a nutshell, after the Windows 2008 Foundation installer reboots, the server cannot find any bootable devices. I did this with the TS130 startup DVD, I did this manually loading the newest Intel driver and I tried this manually loading an older Intel driver. I even took the same driver that is used on another TS130 and that didn't work either.
I checked the RAID configuration and the logical drive exists.
Can someone recommend the exact driver I should be using for the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Controller or offer a suggestion on how to get Windows to recognize the controller?
thank youMost recent BIOS must be installed and BIOS must be set to UEFI, not Auto or Legacy. It took me days to get mine to boot using dual 1.5TB drives. See this post --> http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkServer-Towers/TS130-RAID-Problems-with-Windows-Server-2008-R2-but-N...

Oracle Ent. Linux drivers for HP Smart Array B110i Sata Raid Controller
Trying to install Oracle Ent. Linux (OEL) release 4 update 8 on HP DL 180 G6 server. Where we can find OEL drivers for the sata raid controller ?
(HP Smart Array B110i Sata Raid Controller)
Thanks in advance. The HP support side shows a Linux certification matrix at: http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/servers/linux/hplinuxcert.html
From there you can also download the necessary drivers and instructions or use HP smartstart CD which prepares the system for the OS you need to install. Oracle Enterprise Linux is binary compatible with RHEL. You will need to click on "Archive" to see support for Enterprise Linux version 4 and older.

Can my server work without smart array controller

Unknown Raid 5 Array after Raid controller replaced
Hello,
I had a raid controller fail during the week, and after shutting the xraid down and installing the new controller, all the drives in the array are now amber.
In Raid Admin 1.5 the array does not show up, only all 6 member drives with an amber warning and 'Type: Unknown Array'.
I used the 'Recognize Array' utility to try and fix this, however whilst each drive shows as being recognized as being part of a Raid 5 set, it will not recreate it.
Am I completely screwed? or is there some other way to get this to repair/recognize?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
MarkDue to time restrictions on getting the xraid back online, had to recreate the raid and restore data from backup.
No fix found. -
Solaris 8 install: Compaq Smart Array 431 Controller
How do I get Solaris to recognize the Smart Array 431 controller? It can't find any suitable disks under installation.
I was also wondering why this support was removed since it was in 2.5.1, 2.6, and 2.7? I wish to upgrade my servers to 2.8 however no support for the Array controller. I looked around and Microsoft NT/2000 looks like the only NOS that still contains support for the Compaq Array Smart Controller (EISA). Is it because Microsoft is a Monopoly, or people buy it because they still support legacy hardware/software?
