Dynamic Workstation Group - Department Association

I want to set up a Dynamic Workstation Group according to department. I see a definition of DEVICE-Department and INVENTORY-Department. I found where I can use the CDF to populate the inventory attribute for department. But I don't understand what/how the DEVICE-Department is defined. Where does that come from? Is the only way to populate that is manually via the device properties page?

April,
either wait for midnight when the groups are refreshed, or choose "Recalculate Group Members" or use zman dgr http://www.novell.com/documentation/...0.html#be1olgd

  • Dynamic users group

Looking for a cleaner solution to applying user policies, based on OS.
I have user groups that may be running either XP and Win7.
At the moment I specify a filter for the OS in each individual policy. Each policy is in a policy group say 'Admin Win7 policy group' and applied to the group 'admins'. But so does 'Admin XP policy group'. This means the correct policy gets applied but in the agents "Show Properties/Policies" I get "Non-Effective" messages for policies that get trapped by the filter.
An enhancement request for an equivalent to the 'dynamic workstation group' - 'dynamic user group' perhaps?
    cheers

Currently Exists if you use eDir.
However, it would not help since the OS is not an inherent User Attribute.
Your current implementation is the logical way to go.

  • App associated through Workstation Group not running on some PC's

    Hello,
at one of our locations, we have the following problem:
an application to control internet access that is associated to a
Workstation Group, set to force run, does not launch. Strange thing is,
on the exact same PC's (HP D530) with the same image in another
classroom, the application launches fine. On completely different PC's,
    the app also launches fine.
We turned on NAL logging, and saw this error:
    App:Inventory
    DS Object Name: Internet toegang.Algemeen.W2K.Applications.
    Attribute list is Not NULL
    24-11-04 10:57:38 -- NWDSRead returned error code -603 for 1 number of
    attributes
"Internet Toegang" is the application that is having this strange issue.
Did a DSREPAIR to no avail.
    Setup:
    Novell NetWare 5.1 SP6
    ZfD 3.2 SP3
Client PC's are running Windows 2000 SP4, DLU, no roaming profile.
    Anyone got a clue ? I'm at a loss here :)

    1) Try exporting the App to an AXT file and reimporting to see if that helps
    - I've seen this fix odd issues.
    2) Try Adding, Saving, and then removing an OS System Requirement with
specific OS Version number levels. This will update the App:Inventory
    attribute.
Maybe this will help. ( Shot in Dark )

  • Dynamic Distribution Group via csv file and Recipient Filter

    Hello,
I am trying to create powershell command that will read a CSV file for "Name" and "Dept" and create a Dynamic Distribution Group based on the following Recipient Filter.
Import-CSV Dist.csv | ForEach-Object {New-DynamicDistributionGroup -Name $_.Name -RecipientFilter {((((((Department -like $_.Dept) -and (RecipientType -eq 'UserMailbox'))) -and (UserAccountControl -ne 'AccountDisabled, NormalAccount'))) -and (-not(Name -like
    'SystemMailbox{*')) -and (-not(Name -like 'CAS_{*')))}
I keep getting an error that "Missing closing '}" in statement block Char:314.  I added a "}" at the end of the command but then the command fails to read the .csv file.
Assistance would be greatly appreciated to determine what I am missing.  I have over 100 Dynamic Distribution list to create.
    Cheers

You're definitely missing a closing curly bracket.
You have a lot of superfluous parentheses in that expression.  You could certainly simplify it.

  • Group Policy - Workstation Group

    Hello,
I am trying to apply a windows group policy using a workstation policy package and associating it with a workstation group.
When I go log in to a workstation that is a member of the workstation group after the policy has been setup and go into gpedit.msc, the setting is not changed.
If I setup a user policy with the user I'm logging in as, the user settings work correctly.
Just as a test, I am going and enabling QOS Limit Reserve Bandwith and setting it to 0%. I have the policy running at user login applying only computer configurations and I have loopback support enabled in replace mode. persistent settings are NOT enabled.
Any suggestions? Thanks for any help

There are numerous reasons why a Zen managed Group Policy not will apply,
    associated via group or not.
    Also see my other replies.
Things to check regarding a "Workstation Policy Package" associated GPO
(that only contains "Computer Configuration" settings):
    1. Workstation Object must have [RF] to the files on the server.
    2. "Network location of existing/new Group Polies" path (in C1) must be UNC.
    3. Schedule = "System Startup".
    4. The "Computer Configuration" check box must be enabled (in C1).
    5. GPT.INI on the server must not be Read-only.
    See:
"Error: 5 when copying the policy file to workstation"
    http://support.novell.com/docs/Tids/.../10075231.html
    6. A Zen distributed GPT.INI should not have any "Options" set, only:
    [General]
    gPCMachineExtensionNames=
(if the GPO only contains "Computer Configuration" settings).
    See:
"Computer Settings in Group Policy do not apply correctly"
    http://www.novell.com/support/viewCo...6914&sliceId=1
    7. GPT.INI must have the correct CSEs.

  • Dynamic Approver Group

    Hi all,
Is there a way to let the dynamic approver group to return more than one record?
for one record we return the person_id in the format 'PERSON_ID:'||PERSON_ID
Could we use 'PERSON_ID:'||PERSON_ID||',PERSON_ID:'||PERSON_ID for example to retrieve 2 person id's??
The query of the approver group is calling a function that check the process name and return all the people associated with a position or a job, I need to build dynamic approver groups to send notifications to a group of people so that anyone in that group can approve it and hence it moves on to the next approver group's people
    any idea?!
Edited by: HST on Sep 7, 2010 7:37 AM

    Thanks Vinayka for the reply.
I have tried doing your advice, the query return more than one record (3 in my example) and the voting method is first responder wins.
What happened when submitting the request is that the notification sent to the first person (the one returned in the first record) only and i have to wait for his approval or rejection
if he approves or reject the cycle stopped.
i need to send the notification to all employee that the query return and the approval from one of them is enough!
    any idea?

  • Dynamic Distribution Group set conditions by importing text file?

    Exchange 2010 SP2.
I created a dynamic distribution group via the EMC.  We have populated AD with ExtenstionAttribute1 and ExtensionAttribute2.  I have created the ddg with custom attribute1 value = employee.  What I need to do now is  populate custom attribute
2 = 00-0001, 00-0002, and so on.  There are about 300 of these numbers I need to add.  I have them in a text file or csv file.  Instead of adding them one by one in the EMC, is there a way to import them via powershell to the existing ddg?
The ddg is called All Management Employees.

If they go from 00-0001 to 00-0300, you could just add them as follows:
    Set-DynamicDistributionGroup <group name> -RecipientFilter "(CustomAttribute1 -eq 'employee') -and (CustomAttribute2 -like '00-0*')"
However, if you have additional items like this (such as 00-0350, etc), you may need to use the following:
    Set-DynamicDistributionGroup <group name> -RecipientFilter "(CustomAttribute1 -eq 'employee') -and ((CustomAttribute2 -like '00-00*') -or (CustomAttribute2 -like '00-01*') -or (CustomAttribute2 -like '00-02*') -or (CustomAttribute2 -eq '00-00300')"
Now, if your numbering isn't sequential and it can't be, you would need to add them individually - which may make your search filter unusable, in which case, you may need to create several dynamic groups and add them to a parent group.

  • In human task, dynamically assign group doesn't work

    Oracle SOA 11.1.1.4
My bpel process invokes a human task.
On the human task Assignment tab, I assigned 3 users (by name), 1 group (by expression).
The group is configured in LDAP
When I tested the bpel process, I entered the group and other data required.
From the worklist app, I see the task listed. It is assigned to the 3 users, but not the dynamically passed-in group.
From the Audit trail, I saw all data I entered (include the group). Everything seems correct, but I still can’t make the dynamically-pass-group work.
If I assign the group by name in human task, it works fine.
The problem is: dynamically assign group doesn't work.
    Please kindly advice.

Yes, it is possible assign a group as participant of some human task, passing the group name as parameter.
    I have tested just now.
It works pretty well in SOA 11.1.1.4 (BPEL or BPM).
Make sure add a data parameter in your human task definition and pass a valid group name to it.
At the Assignment tab, in the participants' list, add a group, data type by expression, and set the value to the right xpath expression to the corresponding parameter.
    For example: /task:task/task:payload/task:group
If it is not working look the SOA log files, probably you'll find some information about the error there. Maybe there is some problem with your jazn.com configuration.
You can also test if there is something wrong related to the group name, trying to transfer some task to the same group by the worklist.

  • Dynamic Distribution Groups question

Can I create a dynamic distribution group based on Exchange Custom Attributes, specifically extensionAttribute6? I haven't used dynamic distribution groups yet, but now we have a need.

  • Dynamic record group not working when apostrophes are used

    Hi Everyone,
I have developed a Form for the most part everything is working as expected. However, there is a search functionality that is giving me problems. The issue is that when the user enters search criteria for last_name that has an apostrophe (O'brian) the search lov doesn't get populated because the dynamic record group is not getting created when the string has an apostrophe (ie O'brian). I have a dynamic record group that takes the user's search criteria and populates an LOV on the screen with the records that matched their criteria.
Here is the code that is behind my search button where the dynamic RG gets created. It works fine for all searches that don't contain an apostrophe. Btw, the Oracle Forms version is 10g.

  • Create/Edit "Custom Attributes" in Dynamic Distribution Groups

    Hi,
I wanna create a Dynamic Distribution Group based on the users "title" and "company".
I've noticed that there are 15 "Custom Attributes" that I can edit in someway, I guess via PowerShell?
So what is the easiest way to accomplice this?

    Hi,
Agree with the above suggestion, you can also bulk change the custom attributes:
    Get-Mailbox -ResultSize Unlimited -Database Execs | Set-Mailbox -CustomAttribute1 “title”
    http://dougg.co.nz/2012/05/01/bulk-setting-exchange-2010-custom-attributes/
    to Edit Custom Attributes:
    get-mailbox -filter {customattribute1 -eq ""} | set-mailbox -customattribute1 = "<value>"
And here is a reference about Create/Edit "Custom Attributes" in Dynamic Distribution Groups:

  • Dynamic Distribution Groups - Message Delivery Restrict to Security Group

    Hi,
I have created a dynamic distribution group and want to restrict mail delivery to only accept messages from members of a security group.  How do I achieve this?
The idea is the DDG's are set with their criteria and if anyone leaves/joins the relevant SG then they will have permission to send to those DDG's.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi ,
In exchange management console it is very simple to provide the access. Please follow steps.
1.Open the Exchange Management Console (EMC)
    2.Locate the distribution list .
3.Right-click on it and select Properties
4.Open the Mail Flow Settings tab
    4.Select Message Delivery Restrictions
5.Then select the option only senders in the following list and add the DL that you would like to provide access to send email to that group.

  • How to view members of Dynamic Distribution Group via Outlook client?

    Hello,
Is it possible to view the members of a DDG via the outlook cliënt (exchange 2010 SP1 + Outlook 2010)? For a normal Distribution Group I can see who are the members by viewing it's properties but not for a Dynamic Distribution Group....
    Thnx Remco

The members of a DDG are calculated when someone sends a message to it and might not be the same eight seconds before the message of three seconds after it. Simply trying to look at the membership from
Outlook does not enumerate the potential membership and anyway, even if you could there's every chance that the membership could change in the period of time between looking at the membership and actually crafting the message.

If I open a new email in outlook 2010, and I click on the TO: button, it brings up the Global Address List.  If I use the Drop Down under "Address Book" I can select the Dynamic Distribution List and the members are show in the main window.
That being said, I notice that two of the three that I'm using didn't get updated until I went in and edited it, and walked through the wizard without making any changes.  Then they got updated.  One of the three was up to date without me doing
