Dynamic Configuration of custom Context Objects: is it possible?

Guys,
is it possible to use Dynamic Configuration for custom Context Objects as we normally do to technical context objects?
Also, is it possible to use a context object in receiver determination, even if it is not assigned to a message interface?
My case: I need to use condition at receiver determination but I dont want to read a field from payload. Instead, I want to write that context object with dynamic configuration and use it at receiver determination runtime.
I want to do this in order to avoid having to extend the payload's message type because of this extra field for condition (actually, its not that I dont want to, its that I cant. The message type is defined by 3rd party and cant be changed). If it is possible to keep that information at header instead of payload, it'd be great.

Custom Search Portlet not getting the results as expected.

I am using CustomSearchPortlet and I am having following problems. I created an itemtype IT with attributes A1,A2.Then I configured my custom search portlet to search based on A1,A2 attributes only. I have created 3 instances of items Item1,Item2,Item3 based on itemtype IT as follows
Item1(A1=value11,A2=value12)
Item2(A1=value21,A2=cat22)
Item3(A1=value11,A2=value32)
and when I search for value11, I get Item1,Item3 as results. Till here it was nice and behaving as expected. Suddenly after some time, it stopped working and i am not getting the results I used to get before. The only thing i remember to have changed in the meanwhile was to change the A2 attribute values of some of these items. my searchtext remained the same as value11. I was confused as to why the custom search portlet is not getting these results that it was getting before...Thanks for any help in solving this.

Hi,
If Oracle Text is enabled in your portal, the updated items need to be synchronised before they can be returned in the Search. Since you updated those items, though not changing values for this particular attribute, it will be in the queue for indexing and hence will not be returned until it is indexed.

Bug 3620113 on custom search with French Language (Portal 10.1.2.0.1)

I am working on Portal 10.1.2.0.1 Seone version and I am facing the Bug 3620113: AUTOQUERY SEARCH GIVES ERROR WHEN SEARCHING FOR CREATE DATE < #TODAY#-7
As mentionned in this bug, I have configured a custom search portlet to display documents: everything works fine in english but when switching to french, I got a WWS-31365 error (non valid date).
Is there any means to have this request working? I am doing a POC at a customer site and this is very important this works.

This is defenitely strange - if you click on the "Login" link, you should be prompted for the plain vanilla SSO Username & Password. I have faced this problem infrequently only in Netscape 7.1.
Did you try clearing the Browser Cache ? Which is the browser you are using ?

Custom Search Form and custom attribute picklist?

I have a custom item type which has a custom attribute NAICS_Code. The NAICS codes are stored in a database table and the attribute is set to a list of values that is a query on that table. The attribute is associated with a custom item type as a text attribute.
Now, when I add the custom item type to a page, the NAICS Code field is a popup selector, as expected.
On a Portal page, I have the Custom Search Portlet that searches another page that contains the custom item type.
On the Custom Search Portlet, I can add the NAICS Code as an additional attribute, but the search field is a plain text box and NOT a pick list of any kind.
Can I configure the Custom Search Portlet to use associated LOVs with filter by attributes?

I'm afraid that in the version of portal you are using we don't render LOVs for LOV attributes on the search portlet.
In 10.1.2 attributes are added to the search form using a More Attributes button which simply render an empty row for the attribute details to be filled in.
In 10.1.4 this was improved considerably. Now attributes are added to the search form like they are added in the edit defaults, with a Choose Attributes link which opens a popup to select the attributes. On closing the popup the search form is re-rendered and any LOV attributes will be rendered with a combo box of available values to select from.

Dynamic filename configuration via custom EJB

Hi Experts,
We are doing a poc on whether we can do the dynamic filename configuration,i.e. set the file name dynamically in a custom EJB deployed on the server and called in the sender comm. channel of any J2EE based adapter.
The requirement is for some interfaces, there is no mapping requirement other then setting the filename dynamically, which maybe based on a certain value of the input file or a specific portion of string in the payload.
The custom EJB takes the namespace and attribute as input parameters along with other string manupulation parameters to determine the receiver file name. That is if we are using sender JMS adapter, we can have namespace = http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/JMS and attribute as DCJMSMessageProperty1. The bean would read the value and perform the manipulation based on certain other input parameters and set the file.
There is one particular bean : AF_Modules/DynamicConfigurationBean but it does not allow us to manipulate the filename.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Dynamic configuration : possibility of adding custom Key?

is it possible that i can add a new custom key like for example

key : ERRORDESC
and put it inside the Dynamic configuration during a mapping and then use it further?
or are we limited to the use of ONLY standard key pairs?

How to use Custom Search in Dynamic Page or HTML Portlet ?

1. I have a tab called My Space in the portal web site, where user gets a personalized view of the content.
2. I am using custom attributes and custom item types. I have a custom attribute called 'Location', which is a attribute of custom item types.
3. I have 2 pages - News and Events.
4. All the content in News and Events page is tagged by the attribute 'Location'.
5. The requirement is to let the user search the News and Events by Location.
6. To achieve this I used the Custom Search portlet and the user can select the attribute Location and see the resultant News and Event items by location in the Search portlet.
7. The requirement is to present the News items and Event items in separate regions on the page and show only the first 5 News and Event items in the result and show a More link which would guide the user to rest of the News and Event items.
8. Eventually there may be more content other than News and Events tagged by location. If so, the requirement is to create a new region and display the new content.
9. How would I do this using custom search ? I was thinking if there is anyway I could use the custom search api (where can i find it ?) in the HTML portlet or Dynamic page and submit the result to IFRAMES in each region and show the output ?

I would suggest that you use two custom search portlets; one for the news items and one for the events items. Switch the custom search portlets to "AutoQuery" mode and add the relevant criteria. On the results display tab of the the "edit defaults" screen, choose to show just 5 items.
To add a link to show the user mode results, I'd create two new pages that have just a single custom search portlet on it that is customised to show more of the results and maybe has the pagination links enabled.
Then I'd add two "Page Link" items underneath the two news and events portlets on the first page in an item region.
I'm sure there are other ways of doing this as well. Hope that helps to get you started.

Custom Search Portlet: How to specify a page in the auto query?

I want to specify a page in an auto query (Automatically display search results).
I'm able to specify a pagegroup (Tab What to Search), but unable to select a specific page and to include/exclude subpages.
This option is available on the SearchForm Tab. We are running 9.0.4.

Dynamic configuration of properties/descriptor files?

I am trying to use configuration files used in j2ee applications (property files, deployment descriptors) in a more dynamic manner. I have been searching for a suitable solution for some time now.
I have come across the following syntax within a configuration or properties file in a legacy project that I am to maintain.
<some-tag>
<some-config value=${theVariable}/>
</some-tag>
Notice the JSTL-like syntax ${theVariable}
The above code comes from an xreg config file, read at startup.
I do not think that there is custom code that parses the file so that it is updated, but I think that this is a pretty cool mechanism for dynamic configuration of applications especially if the properties come from the shell environment variables and can be set at will, or from the java -D option.

I have very similar requirement, In my scenario I need to pick up files from 4 static locations and based on the file name and pick up type(file/ftp) I can find out the destination's connectivity information from a Cross-Referencing table(Based on MS-SQL Database table- I can get this using look API) in this table we maintaining more than 100 destinations(host/user_name/password etc).
Now I need to set the connectivity information dynamically at runtime. I know this is not possible with Standard XI but does anyone thinks this is possible by any technical way using with XI.. Adapter Modules or Java Proxies?
This is very Critical to win the war with other middleware tools. Please let me know your thoughts and comments...

Custom Search iView - Portal Runtime Error when in role

I have created a custom Search iView based on a standard Search iView, but I have some problems with it.
When this iView is placed inside a page and in the role and when it is being used (eg. user clicks Search), Portal Runtime exception occurs.
Additional information: Exception during PageProcessorComponent.doContent()
When I display this iView in preview mode, everything is fine, there is no errors.
Also when this iView is being accessed through URLiView everything is fine too.
So I think perhaps the problem lies somewhere in the portalapp.xml of this search iview.
Here are the steps which I followed to create a custom search iView:
1. I've imported the following par file: com.sap.km.cm.par.bak and created a project.
2. The project name is: mycompany.km.cm.
2. I've modified propertyapp.xml file so that the "basicsearch" and "search" components have some additional properties.
3. I've exported a par (mycompany.km.cm.par) and deployed it on the server.
4. I've created a search iView based on this par and put it inside a page and a role.
Maybe I'm missing something, maybe there are some additional steps which should be made, for example SecurityArea property in portalapp.xml file or something similar.
Help is very welcome cause I'm stuck with this.
The new properties are: HelpIViewPathToCall, "TagCloudIViewPathToCall, SearchIViewPath,KnowledgeBaseIndexes

Acces dynamic configuration variable (e.g. filename) in ABAP mapping class

Hi experts
I am searching for a possibility to acces a dynamic configuration variable (DCV) in an ABAP mapping class. Since I could not find a solution in SDN and other sources, I hope somebody in this forum can help me.
What I already found is the following code which can be used to set a DCV, but what I would be interested in is how to read a DCV.
Any help is appreciated.

Custom search using boolean attribute set to True gives no result

I am setting up an auto-query using the custom search portlet. This is to show all items where a boolean custom attribute is checked, ie = True.
In step 3 I have tried to set the operator to Equals to and the default value to True. This gives no results even though several items have this attribute set to True.
The Auto Query check box is checked.

Found that True = 1 in database. When set to this the search works.

i have a problem to retrieve selected value from a custom search help. I need to retrieve 2 columns from the selected line. eg. there are A,B,C,D column in the search help. I need to get the B and D. can anyone help? Thanks

For achieving this follow the following 4 steps:
1. While calling F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST pass the importing paramter return_tab to make the data selected by the user IN SELECTION screen. Remember that without this the user entry is avaliable only at START OF SELECTION.
2. Use this value to READ TABLE your internal table to get the value of other column.
3. Load an internal table with values you want to assign to selection screen fields.
4. Assign values to the field in selection field using Fn Module: 'DYNP_VALUES_UPDATE'.

Problem with dynamic configuration in PI 7.0 (SP 21)

We're trying to set a dynamically configurable parameter (UrlParam in plain http adapter) in a java mapping and when calling, via proxy, getting the following error returned

Hello , let me clarify:
- There's a graphical mapping which has a user defined function with the following code:

DynamicConfiguration dynCon =(DynamicConfiguration) container.getTransformationParameters().get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);

return paramValue;
- The above UDF has paramName set to UrlParamOne via a constant and paramValue set a per an element in the incoming structure.
- Incidentally, a Java mapping is then called (although not relevent) to clear the xml produced from the mapping. This is a requirement for our customer who don't want the HTTP body set. The code is as follows:
