Dynamically connecting to different clusters

Hi,
Is there a way to dynamically connect to different clusters?
I have QA/Stage/Production cache clusters, and working on utility to manipulate any of those from an admin tool. For example, is it possible to dynamically attach to QA cluster, perform some operations, detach, then connect to the Stage cluster later? If so, then how to specify the configuration for the different clusters programmatically (e.g. the coherence override xml files)?
Thanks,
Harry

Hi,
I am having a similar problem. I want to connect to 2 different clusters, one running version 3.3.1, one running version 3.4, from the same jvm using extend. I can get the clusters to connect by using separate classloaders (the parent containing 3.3.1 and a child classloader that is overridden to look in its own classes before looking in the parent with the 3.4 classes loaded). My domain interfaces are loaded in the parent classloader so I can transport the objects around the rest of the app.
Unfortunately when I try and do anything more sophisticated than connecting (ie get, put, invoke) I get the following:
2009-02-13 08:33:54.922/2.781 Oracle Coherence GE 3.4/405 <Error> (thread=TestCache:TcpInitiator, member=n/a): An exception occurred while decoding a Message for Service=TestCache:TcpInitiator received from: TcpConnection(Id=null, Open=true, LocalAddress=147.114.128.215:1884, RemoteAddress=147.114.128.215:9300): java.io.IOException: Class initialization failed: java.lang.ClassCastException: com.tangosol.util.UUID cannot be cast to com.tangosol.io.ExternalizableLite

  • Dynamic Connection to different servers are not working

    Hi All,
I am trying to create a SSIS Package that loops through a table containing the server names and fetching results from all the servers.
    Created two variables
    --list is an object
    --itr is an string variable
I have created a table "Serverlist" that contains all the servernames,
and using a OLE DB connection with a property "Servername" --> user::itr. used for loop through all the servers in for Each loop.
The execution is started, showing the results for one server and failed with the below error"
"[OLE DB Source [29]] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER.  The AcquireConnection method call
to the connection manager "src" failed with error code 0xC0202009.  There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed.
[SSIS.Pipeline] Error: OLE DB Source failed validation and returned error code 0xC020801C."
    Any suggestions are welcome.

    Hi,
Are you passing the correct servername, password, login, database in your connection string??
Are you getting the value at runtime?
Try this: Click on the package and on the property try to set the DelayValidation=True.
If the DelayValidation is true the package will validate the connections before it execute. If DelayValidation is false it will validate when the package is running.
So if you have a dynamic connection I suggest you set it the DelayValidation=False

  • Connecting to multiple clusters using WAR file

I am trying to connect to multiple clusters by creating separate WAR(web archive) files through Apache tomcat.
My intention is to have each 'war' act as a node to a separate cluster. I started with the 'jmx-console' example available on the Tangosol website.
So, my understanding is that even though all the war files are loaded in the same JVM (tomcat), since each of these war's has its own classloader, we can have multiple tangosol ndoes from the same JVM.
So I have two basic questions:
*) If I use system.setProperty("tangosol.coherence.override", myOverrideFile-x) in the class loader of each WAR, can I have the nodes connect to different clusters. is'nt the System.setProperty() setting the property on the JVM? If so, how can multiple classloaders running in the same JVM connect to different clusters?
*) Where should I place config/override xml files under the tomcat directory structure for it to be accesible to the class loader.

    Hi sumax,
    Thanks for your response Robert,
Maybe I did not understand your solution fully, I
thought your idea mostly talks about how to configure
the override files, and not how to configure the
individual nodes to use different override files.
That part is taken care of by the fact, that each war file loads the tangosol-coherence-override.xml from its own WEB-INF/classes directory.
Classloading from a web app in Tomcat resolves classpath classes/resources in the following order:
    1. java.* and javax.* and com.sun.* packages are loaded from the system classloader. This, I believe, cannot be circumvented on a Sun JVM with a classloader extending a JDK classloader class.
    2. Reloadable JSP classloader (loads servlet classes generated from JSP pages). This is webapp specific, each webapp sees its own generated servlet classes.
    3. Reloadable Webapp classloader (loads from WEB-INF/classes and WEB-INF/lib of the war). This is webapp specific, each webapp sees its own WEB-INF/classes and WEB-INF/lib.
    4. Common classloader (loads from ${TOMCAT_HOME}/common/classes and ${TOMCAT_HOME}/common/lib). This is used by all webapps and the Tomcat container itself. You should not put anything here, except for libraries for resource drivers, etc. JDBC drivers or anything which needs to be published in the JNDI server in a non-application-specific way.
    5. Shared classloader (loads from ${TOMCAT_HOME}/shared/classes and ${TOMCAT_HOME}/shared/lib). This is shared between all webapps but not by the Tomcat container. You can put libraries here with which you want to communicate between webapps. Any singletons in classes in this classloader will be shared between webapps. A place for configuration files which are shared or if they have the application name in their filenames (so that they are not accidentally used by another application).
The question still lingering in my mind is:
How do I tell the classloader which override file to
    load.
A tangosol-coherence-override.xml with different content should be put in the WEB-INF/classes directory of each war file. Each of those files will be loaded only by its containing webapp. This filename is defined in the deployment-mode-specific override files in coherence.jar or tangosol.jar (I don't remember which, off my head) which all chain to this same tangosol-coherence-override.xml file.
That override file can contain all your overrides, if you do not want to change those between restarts, or it can chain with its xml-override attribute (as shown in the example) to another file with the application name in its filename.
This chaining allows each webapp to refer to a differently named override file, so all those override files can be put into shared/classes folder. The uniquely named override file in shared/classes allows you to change the override configuration between restarts.
As for cluster address and port, you can specify those in any of the override files.
The full chaining path is the following (if you used the tangosol-coherence-override.xml example in my first reply):
    tangosol-coherence.xml -> tangosol-coherence-prod.xml -> tangosol-coherence.xml (you provide this file in your webapp WEB-INF/classes) -> tangosol-coherence-override-warfilename.xml (you provide this file in the ${TOMCAT_HOME}/shared/classes)
I hope this makes it clear.
    Best regards,
    Robert

  • Is it possible to connect to two different clusters?

    Hi,
I was wondering if it was possible to connect to two different clusters from the same process?
What I would like to do is to able to get some cache on the first cluster and others on a second cluster. The cache-config DTD doesn't seem to forbid the definitions of several remote-cache-scheme. • Dynamically connecting to two different DataSources in ADF BC application.

    Hi All,
I have a requirement where my ADF BC application need to connect to different data bases(connections maintined as datasources in OAS) depending on the user logs in.
I have two databases schemas TENCA and TENUS for which I have created a datasources with jndi loaction names as jdbc/TENCA and jdbc/TENUS in OAS and I have hardcorded jdbc/TENCA in the JDev 10.1.3.2 for the Appln Model ServiceImpl by editing the configurations of ServiceImpl and deployed the ADF BC application on OAS with this I was able to access data of TENCA schema but not the TENUS. IS there any way I can dynamically point DAF BC appln to different datasources during appln start up? Please assist.

  • Dynamically connecting WD Application to different backends

    Hi,
A single WebDynpro Application running in the portal needs to be connected to different Clients in the backend system depending on the current logged user.
As I found out, the standard JCO Connections can be overwritten by URL parameter overwriting.
But for this I need different iViews in the portal connected to the same WebDynpro application but with different JCO Connections.
Is it possible to have one iView which does this?
    Regards
    MK

    Hi MK,
You should create the JCO Connections manually in your WebDynpro Application.
The overhead is that you then need to manually close them as well when not in use.
    Check this tutorial.

  • Dynamic Connection Pool Creation Failing in a cluster

    Hi,
I am trying to create a connection pool in a clustered environment. This connection
pool is created lazily behind a Stateless Session Bean. We first attempt to determine
whether, the connection pool exists using JdbcServices.poolExists(someName), and
create it if it does not exist. A failure occurs on creation because it looks
like the connection pool might have been created by a bean on a different weblogic
VM instance. Is there any way to dynamically create a connection pool and make
it visible to the whole cluster? Thanks in advance for any help. Michael Dolbear

The only way to do it is using MBeans. You could search this newsgroup
for "JDBCConnectionPoolMBean" to get an idea of how it could be done.

    Slava,
I am working with Mike on this issue and wanted to add some moreclarifications.
We have a two server cluster where one of the EJB's on one of the Managedservers
creates the connection pool. The problem comes in when a request comes tothe
second server in the cluster. The connection pool is created by the firstserver
but it is only assigned to the first server in the targets section on theconsole.
It isn't assigned to the cluster. Is there a way to programmaticallyassign the
pool to the cluster instead of just the server that created the pool?

    Hi Michael,
Could you show us the code? Without looking at the code
I can only say that JdbcServices.poolExists(someName)
returns true only in case the pool is up and running.
If the connection pool MBean was created but not assigned
a target, subsequent tries to create it would fail.

    Hi,
I am trying to create a connection pool in a clustered environment. This
    connection
pool is created lazily behind a Stateless Session Bean. We first
    attempt
    to determine
whether, the connection pool exists usingJdbcServices.poolExists(someName), and
create it if it does not exist. A failure occurs on creation becauseit
    looks
like the connection pool might have been created by a bean on a
    different
    weblogic
VM instance. Is there any way to dynamically create a connection pooland
    make
it visible to the whole cluster? Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Report model dynamic connection string

    hi
I'm trying to build a report model, which has to connect to different database
    For ex:
I've 10 different customers, and i need to connect the selected customer database,
Any thoughts how to proceed in this
    Thanks
    Chezhian

    Hi Chezhian,
As per my understanding, I would try the two methods to achieve your requirement: create one report model which contains those databases or create 10 report model, the data source can connect to the corresponding model based on the user. In Reporting Services,
a report model can only map to a database. So the first method doesn’t work. If we want to connect to a report model, we should browse to a report server or SharePoint site and select a published model. We don’t need a connection string to use a report model
as a data source. So the second method still doesn’t work.
To work around the issue, I think we can create 10 report model, each report model corresponding each user’s database and named the user name. Then set Item-Level Permissions of each report model based on the user on report manager. Each user can only see
his own report model on the report server.
Or we can create a data source with dynamic connection string, the blog below is for your reference:

  • Connecting to multiple clusters from the same client

We have a scenario where our cache client (extend client) should be able to connect to multiple clusters. All the clusters use the exact same configuration (same caches, same services etc) but running in different geographical locations. I know that the <remote-addresses> can be used to add multiple addresses but I'm assuming this is provided solely for fault tolerance. So, does the client actually support connecting to multiple clusters at the same time?
    Thanks
    Sijo Mathew

    Hi Sijo,
Normally to connect a client to multiple clusters you would just define multiple <proxy-scheme> settings in your client configuration file, each one having a different name and pointing to a different cluster. You then map caches to the proxy-scheme for the cluster those caches live on.
What may confuse things in your case is that you say the different clusters are identical and contain the same caches and services so you may have problems mapping caches on the client to different clusters.
What are you trying to achieve by doing this if the clusters are all identical?

  • Crystal Report Dynamic connection issue ORA-04043 Database Vendor Code 4043

    HI All,
Ii am getting dynamic connection issue with Crystal Report 2008 and Business View Manager, i have Oracle database,
    i have done following steps
1 Creating Dynamic Connection (including two connection XDC & YDC)
    2. Creating Data Foundation (Common object available in both connection ie. stored procedure)
    3. Creating Business View (with selected number of elements in business element, like firsta name, lastname)
I have verified database connectivity from Business view manager, both the connection are working fine bringing different number of rows from two different schemas (different schema but same objects in two schemas)
    4. Database connectivity to different database schemas
    5. Connectivity from Crystal Report (done the connectivity from the repository to business view )
    6. Report Connectivity with first schema shows records
7 Report Connectivity with second schemas shows error
as follows Failed to retrive data from the database & on clicking of detail i get following error
    Crystal Reports
Database Connector Error: 'ORA-04043: object HR.EXCEPTION_REPORT_SUB1_PROC [Database Vendor Code: 4043 ]'
Q first of all i need to know if dynamic connection using business view manager and crystal report technically possible or not, if yes then please let me know the solution, since we did verified with SQL database and ite work with two different database.
Q if not possible then are there any options to resolve dynamic deployment of crystal report over multiple schemas with crystal report 2008
Any help or suggestion will be appriciated, hope some one might have got similar issue
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
When i use same credentials in Tod or sqlplus it works perfect and gives appropriate results. But when i use same credentials using business view manager, the very first connection works but the second connection does not work
    Please suggest!

  • How to use one dynamic connection managers for multiple parallel data flow tasks

    hi there:
I have 6 databases residing on the same server. What I want to do is  call a store procedure with identical name on each database dbo schema and transport results to a centralized place. The key is to have those SPs run in parallel instead
of in sequence as each SP may take around 10 mins to finish.
The simplest way is to create 6 OLE DB connection managers and create 6 DFT tasks. However, I do not want to maintain 6 OLE DB connection managers as there is a chance to have more connection  managers.
What I did so far is to create a OLD DB connection manager and use expression to set up connectionString properties so that it will get populated by variables at run time. It is fine when running all SPs in a Foreach Loop Container. However, it takes
    around 60 mins to finish.
When I try to run it in parallel ( basically created 6 DFTs but use only one Dynamic Connection Manager), the connection string gets confused therefore all DFT tasks failed.
Does anyone here have some experience on this topic?
    Thanks
     hui
--Currently using Reporting Service 2000; Visual Studio .NET 2003; Visual Source Safe SSIS 2008 SSAS 2008, SVN --

Yes, basically, on the connectionString property of ONE OLEDB, you are using an expression to supply value and this expression is pointing to a variable.
In this case , you can update this variable from a table which contains many connection strings. It's good if you want to execute Store procedures in a sequential order. When in parallel mode, this will cause issues as connectionString gets overwritten.
I am thinking about using script task to exec sp.
The whole idea is that I do not want to maintain a large number of Connection Managers.
    Hope it helps
--Currently using Reporting Service 2000; Visual Studio .NET 2003; Visual Source Safe SSIS 2008 SSAS 2008, SVN --
So you are not able to run parallel executions using same conn mgmr, even with dynamic connectionstring, is that correct? Yes, script task will be a way to go if you wish to execute it in parallel, you may connect to SS and query the proper conn string with
SELECT/WHERE clause in each script > pass it to a script variable > use that script variable and execute the proc. This will require only two things to change in each script, the WHERE condition to get the conn string and the proc name (you may even
get the proc names the same way you get conn string) and everything else will be same. Let us know how that goes.
Hope no two or more procs doing insert/update/delete on the same tables.

  • Time Machine: Backup folder changing size when connected to different computers

Can someone please help me wrap my head around why the size of my Time Machine backup folder changes when connected to different computers? I tried to be as thorough as possible.  Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this.
I made a backup of my one laptop (MacBook Pro running 10.6.8) before installing Mavericks.  The backup folder size is 258.56 GB and it is on a 1TB WD external.  There are no other computers backed up in this folder.
Last night, I tried to copy the backup folder to another 1TB WD external and ran into the “you can’t do that” message.  After some researching, I came across articles explaining how Time Machine handles HDs and, in order for me to copy my backup folder, the drive I want to copy the folder to needs to have the “Ignore ownership on this volume” deselected.
Okay, so here is my situation: I have the “Ignore ownership on this volume” deselected and journaling is correct on the drive I want to copy the backup folder to.  So I can continue working on my laptop, I want to use a different computer to copy the backup folder from one HD to the other.  The problem I’m having is each computer I own is showing me a different backup folder size O.o.
    (1) The computer I want to use – a Power Mac G5 Quad running 10.4.11 (non intel) – is showing a backup folder size of 592.7 MB, but the HD shows there is 258 GB being used.  When I drag copy, I only get a 592.7 MB backup folder.  For some reason, the backup folder is the only folder acting this way. I compared other folders from the same and different externals and all the sizes match up perfectly no matter the computer they were connected to. How is this possible?
    (2) My second option - Mac Pro (early 2009) running 10.9.4 – is showing a 256.15 GB backup folder size.  Very close, but not 258.56 GB.
    (3) My last option is to use the computer I’m trying to stay away from, the MacBook Pro running 10.6.8.  This is the computer I backed up and is showing me the correct folder size = 258.56GB.  As I mentioned, I'd like to work on my laptop while copying the backup folder using one of my other computers.
I am able to drag and drop from each computer, but the folder size depends on the computer I’m using.  I don’t understand why I can't do a simple drag and drop of a 258 GB folder.
    Many thanks!!

The directory files that you are seeing are not real. They are links to the actual backup files that are stored in a hidden directory on the drive. If you were to look at the same drive on a pc, you would see the folders and you would a list files that are in the folders but the files would all be 0 byte files and Windows will tell you the file is empty because there is nothing there but a link which Windows does not understand.
So the point is you can't just copy the backupd files. The best solution that I know of (and maybe someone else will chime in) for copying them is to mirror the drive with something like Carbon Copy or some other program.
See this site for more information about time machine and how it works: http://pondini.org/OSX/Home.html

  • How to specifiy the provider to be Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client when creating a dynamic connection string with EF Code First from Database?

I am trying to use the relatively new Code First from Database with the newest EF (6.x) and on an Oracle database (11g, but I have installed the newest ODTwithODAC). First of all, it works fine as long as the connection string is inside the App.Config file. But when I try to build it dynamically in the C# code (or rather, statically at the moment) it fails. I have it working with a dynamically built connection string when doing Model from Database though, so I'm at a loss right now.
First, I have created a second constructor for the context class that takes a string and does base(connectionString). Then I build the connection string via
    OracleConnectionStringBuilder oracleBuilder = new OracleConnectionStringBuilder();
    oracleBuilder.DataSource = "TEST.BLA.COM";
    oracleBuilder.UserID = "ABC";
    oracleBuilder.Password = "abc";
    oracleBuilder.PersistSecurityInfo = true;
    string connection = oracleBuilder.ToStrin();
Now trying to open an EntityConnection by giving to it this provider-specific connection string (or even the static one from the App.Config) doesn't work; I get "keyword not supported: user id"). Trying it by creating a context and giving this connection string doesn't work either. I'm pretty sure that this is because I didn't specify the provider to use; after all, it should use the Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client provider and not an SQL Server based one.
I then tried to get around this by using an EntityConnectionStringBuilder on top and specifying the provider keyword there, but then I get "keyword not supported: provider" when using it in the context constructor, and "the 'metadata' keyword is always required" when using it with the EntityConnection constructor.
As I said above: I bet it's the provider that I have to specify somehow, but I don't know how. The code that does work is the following:
using (var context = new Model())
    context.Database.Connection.Open();
    context.Database.Connection.Close();
When I read context.Database.Connection.ConnectionString, it is exactly the provider-specific connection string I created above, but I don't know where to specify the provider again. Do you know of any way to do this? Certainly there must be one.
PS: I have also posted this question on http://stackoverflow.com/questions/27979454/ef-code-first-from-database-with-managed-oracle-data-access-dynamic-connection because it is quite urgent and I'd like to use Code First from Database. Otherwise I'd have to go "back" to using Model from Database again, which is not ideal because we have updatable views where the .edmx-file has to be edited after every reload of the model, while with Code First from DB inserting into the view automatically works.

  • Connecting a Different Speaker to the S750

My computer decided to create an error that shot a high pitched garble throughout my speaker system. Needless to say thankfully it seems it only ruined one speaker the center channel.
The center channel only produces sound from its midrange woofer now. If there is a fix for that i'd love to hear it.
For now i have an old sony center speaker to replace it with. Just curious if its ok to connect a different speaker to the s750. Its power rating its around 70watts rms.

Any 8 ohms speaker will work! Or you could just get the MC100.
