Dynamically importing images

Hi,
  we need to dynamically import images to use them in smartforms. The images are stored on a file server (DMS) so we tried to use BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHECKOUTVIEWX to get the file from DMS and then use IMPORT_BITMAPS_DBS (to do what SE78 does) but this does not work. We realised that the file was not being transfered by the BAPI and that IMPORT only works with local files, so when we are printing (background), it does not work. Does anyone know of a way to import images as GRAPHICS as SE78 does but from a DMS server and in background mode.
TIA

hi,
can you please elaborate your answer, i could not understand it completely.
Thanks,
Hasan

    can any Colleagues help me ..
    how can i Import Image From Scanner directly
    if anyone can descuss code and how can i do that
    thank for all Colleagues .......

    You cannot.. unless you are prepared to get your hands dirty writing code to integrate a scanner API into Oracle.
    Oracle has a feature called extproc. This allows you to define external "procedures" - these procedures are for example shared object libraries (Linux/Unix) or dynamic link libraries (Windows). A scanner API will be typically implemented by its driver as a shared object/DLL. Which means it is callable from within PL/SQL.
    It may however not be usable - extproc does not support callbacks, does not own a window or process handle, and so on.
    In which case you may need to wrap the DLL into a custom DLL that implements callbacks. perhaps create a hidden window if a window handle is needed, and so on.
    In other words, this is not a trivial thing. You need to know more than just a bit about o/s side (systems) programming.
    You should also ask yourself why you want to do this. Architecturally wiring a scanner into Oracle via PL/SQL and an extproc interface make absolutely no sense at all.
    Especially since operator input/control is required to physically manage device... That is on the very opposite side of the Oracle server spectrum. That is clearly a client function to interact with such a device and not a server function.

    (I'm using Photoshop CS6)

          The problem appears in every image I try to open (whatever format or origin). The images I try to import come from rendering in Autodesk 3ds max , from my camera (sony cyber-shot ) or are just stock images... I had no problem with photoshop cs5.1....

  • Import image using JS (preferred on document-level)

    Hello,
    I am going to implement a dynamic legend using JavaScript in Adobe Acrobat. The document contains a lot of layers. Every layer has an own legend. The origin idea is to implement the legend so, that it contains the images in a dialog box for the visible layers. I can only hide/show the layers by setting state to false or true (this.getOCGs()[i].state = false;) on document-level.
    Question 1: Can I extract data from layer somehow  for legend establishing? I think no, as we only have these function on layers: getIntent(), setIntent() and  setAction(). Right? Therefore I decided to arrange it so, that all needed icons for every layer are saved in a folder with corresponding names. JavaScript should import the icons and I build the a dialog window with icons of visible Layers and place a text(description for this icon).
    I tried all possibilities of image import described here: http://pubhelper.blogspot.com.au/2012/07/astuces-toolbar-icons-et-javascript.html. I got only one way (Convert the icons as hexadecimal strings). This way isn't good, as it is too much work to create with an other tool a hexadecimal string from a images and place it into a javascript code.
    Unfortunately, I cannot import image using other methods:(. Since the security settings in Adobe are changed after version 7 or so, it is not possible to use functions like app.newDoc, app.openDoc, even app.getPath On document-level. I decided to implement the import on the folder level using trusted functions like this:
    Variant 1:
    var importImg = app.trustedFunction(function() {
        app.beginPriv();
        var myDoc = app.newDoc({
            nWidth: 20,
            nHeight: 20
            var img = myDoc.importIcon("icon", "/icon.png", 0);
            app.endPriv();
        return img;
    var oIcon = importImg();
    NotAllowedError: Security settings prevent access to this property or method.
    App.newDoc:109:Folder-Level:User:acrobat.js
    Variant 2:
    var importImg = app.trustedFunction(function() {
           var appPath = var phPath = app.getPath({
            cCategory: "user",
            cFolder: "javascript"
           try {
                   app.beginPriv();
            var doc = app.openDoc({
                cPath: phPath + "/icon.png",
                bHidden: true
             app.endPriv();
        } catch (e) {
            console.println("Could not open icon file: " + e);
            return;
            var oIcon = util.iconStreamFromIcon(doc.getIcon("icon"));
        return oIcon;

    Error: Could not open icon file: NotAllowedError: Security settings prevent access to this property or method.
    The settings in Preferences->JavaScript-> JavaScript Security are disabled (Enable menu item JS execution privileges, enable global object security policy).
    Question 2: Is it not allowed or should I change some other settings or use the import on any other way?
    I tried all these possibilities with .jpg, .png, .pdf. with different sizes(big images and 20x20 pxls), It doesn't work.
    Could somebody help me, as I spent a lot of time with trying different possibilities. It would be actually better to implement the main goal described above on document level, are there other possibilities to access images, maybe using xml or something else) (Question 3)?
    Thank you and kind regards,
    Alex

  • Alpha transparency borders on dynamically loaded images for use with textures

    Hi there folks. Well, I have been beating my head over this
    and am hoping one of you can help me out.
    Essentially I have 16bit images that are loaded into my
    shockwave application at run-time. These images are user defined
    which means that I will not know their size ahead of time. Once the
    images are loaded I then create textures and apply them to various
    shaders. Ok, all of this works just fine. What I need to do though
    is create an alpha transparent border around the images, so when I
    apply them to their surfaces I only see the image and nothing
    around it. I am doing this because these images will only appear at
    specific parts on a surface, textureRepeat will be false, and many
    models will be stacked in the same exact location using the same
    model resource. I have everything working, but I cannot figure out
    the alpha part for the life of me. Also, when I test the alpha
    based image by itself it works just fine. It is not until I try and
    combine the 16bit (converted to 32bit at run-time) image that I run
    into problems.
    I have tried:
    - Creating a 32bit alpha image in Fireworks with a
    transparent border and a black rect for the inside. I then copy the
    dynamic image over the alpha image (only after going from 16bit to
    32bit in imaging Lingo) and leave a little room at the edges for
    the transparency. Well, I get a crazy amount of streaks here even
    when I try to up the trans border by around 24 pixels on each side.
    - Using another similiar alpha based image as a mask with
    copyPixels and extractAlpha/setAlpha like this... (code is a little
    rough here)
    newImage = new(#bitmap)
    newImage.name = "place_Test"
    newImage.image = member("place").image
    newAlpha = new(#bitmap)
    newAlpha.name = "AHH"
    newAlpha.image = image(newImage.image.width + 24,
    newImage.image.height + 24, 32)
    newAlpha.image.useAlpha = true
    newAlpha.image.copyPixels(member("vase").image,
    newAlpha.image.rect, member("vase").image.rect)
    newAlphaInfo = newAlpha.image.extractAlpha()
    newAlpha.image.useAlpha = false
    --reverse dark to light
    iAlphaReverse = image(newAlpha.image.width,
    newAlpha.image.height, 8, #grayscale)
    iAlphaReverse.fill(iAlphaReverse.rect, rgb(0,0,0))
    iAlphaReverse.copyPixels(newAlphaInfo, iAlphaReverse.rect,
    newAlphaInfo.rect, [#ink : #reverse])
    --newAlphaInfo.copyPixels(iAlphaReverse, newAlphaInfo.rect,
    iAlphaReverse.rect, [#ink:#subtractpin])
    newAlphaMask = iAlphaReverse.createMask()
    rescaleAbs(newImage, newImage.image.width,
    newImage.image.height, "place_Test", 32)
    destImage = member("place_Test").image.duplicate()
    destImage.fill(destImage.rect, rgb(0,0,0))
    newAlpha.image.useAlpha = false
    destImage.copyPixels(newImage.image, newImage.image.rect,
    newImage.image.rect, [#maskImage:newAlphaMask, #ink:#add])
    destImage.setAlpha(iAlphaReverse)
    destImage.useAlpha = true
    member("place_Test").image = destImage
    I apologize for the messy code. I have cut and pasted from
    all over the place and am getting confused. In any case, I think I
    am making this harder then it needs to be and hope someone can
    help.
    Thank you in advance,
    Dave

    Hi, you can try using other texture layer as mask on the same
    shader. As usually you create the texture from a dynamic loaded
    image, then apply this texture to the shader on the texture list
    index 1 (textureList[1]). Next part does the job, create other
    texture from a 32 bits image with the alpha information and fill
    all pixels with white color, this is very important because the
    second texture layer will be multiply with the first texture layer.
    This texture set its render format to rgba8888. Apply the mask
    texture to the same shader at texture list index 2, verify that the
    blendFunctionList index 2 is #multiply.
    I include the code of a project that use this masking
    approach:
    property pMember
    property pEarthSphere
    property pNightSphere
    property pLastTransform
    on beginSprite me
    pMember = sprite(me.spriteNum).member
    me.setupWorld()
    end
    on setupWorld(me)
    pMember.resetWorld()
    repeat with i = pMember.light.count down to 1
    pMember.deletelight(i)
    end repeat
    vEarthModelResource = pMember.newModelResource("EARTH MODEL
    RESOURCE", #sphere)
    vEarthModelResource.radius = 50.000
    vEarthModelResource.resolution = 20
    vEarthTexture = pMember.newTexture("EARTH TEXTURE",
    #fromCastMember, member(3,1))
    vEarthShader = pMember.newShader("EARTH SHADER", #standard)
    vEarthShader.emissive = color(255,255,255)
    vEarthShader.flat = TRUE
    vEarthShader.transparent = FALSE
    vEarthShader.textureList[1] = vEarthTexture
    pEarthSphere = pMember.newModel("EARTH MODEL",
    vEarthModelResource)
    pEarthSphere.shaderList = vEarthShader
    vNightModelResource = pMember.newModelResource("NIGHT MODEL
    RESOURCE", #sphere)
    vNightModelResource.radius = 50.2000
    vNightModelResource.resolution = 20
    vNightTexture = pMember.newTexture("NIGHT TEXTURE",
    #fromCastMember, member(4,1))
    vNightTexture.quality = #lowFiltered
    vNightTexture.nearFiltering = FALSE
    vNightTexture.renderFormat = #rgba8880
    vNightShader = pMember.newShader("NIGHT SHADER", #standard)
    vNightShader.emissive = color(255,255,255)
    vNightShader.flat = TRUE
    vNightShader.transparent = TRUE
    vNightShader.textureList[1] = vNightTexture
    vMaskNightTexture = pMember.newTexture("MASK NIGHT TEXTURE",
    #fromCastMember, member(6,1))
    vMaskNightTexture.renderFormat = #rgba8888
    vNightShader.textureList[2] = vMaskNightTexture
    vNightShader.textureModeList[2] = #wrapPlanar
    pNightSphere = pMember.newModel("NIGHT MODEL",
    vNightModelResource)
    pNightSphere.shaderList[1] = vNightShader
    pNightSphere.parent = pEarthSphere
    end
    on exitFrame(me)
    pEarthSphere.rotate(0.0,0.1,0.0)
    me.moveMaskNightTexture()
    end
    on moveMaskNightTexture(me)
    vRotationVector = - pEarthSphere.transform.rotation
    pNightSphere.shaderList[1].wrapTransformList[2].rotation =
    vRotationVector
    end

  • HELP: How do I use iPhoto 08 to import images onto my iPhone 3G?

    Hi,
    I was wondering how best to import images into my iPhone 3G for viewing.
    Most of my image files are large high quality 2 -4 MB files.
    Is there an easy way to downsize the files for viewing on the iPhone 3G? Does iPhoto have a setting specific for import/export use with the iPhone?
    How do I set a specific photo as the phone's wallpaper and does it have to be specifically sized to use as wallpaper?
    I have read the iPhone 3G manual but it was less than helpful just saying "Use iPhoto to import photos onto your iPhone"...

    here is a thread with lots of discussion of this topic - http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1618079&tstart=105
    In general you make album(s) of the photos you want on the iPhone and sync the album(s)

  • Unable to add/import images from other sources

    Hi,
    I'm using iPhoto 5.0.4, and I'm trying to import images that were captured on another Mac using iPhoto 2 and then burned to CD so that I could take them home. When I go to "Add to Library", it tells me that iPhoto could not import the files because they may not contain valid data or it may be an unrecognized file type. The file type is the same. Whether it's valid data or not is impossible for me to interpret since the pics open up in any image editing program just fine.
    Any suggestions or work arounds?
    Sophie

    Hi Sophie,
    Where are the images that you are trying to add to the library?
    did you put them in the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder manually?
    If you did, drag them to the desktop, then add them to the library.

    I am experiencing Mavericks failing to copy subdirectories from usb sticks, I am backing up game saves from a console. Both sticks I use are fine, same permissions of course since the console wrote the files. Sometimes it copies, sometimes it doesn't. It seems to be related to the mounting process.
    Thank God Apple hasn't (yet) broken bash.

  • Aperture 3.3 updated. Importing images, can no longer access drive

    This has happened several times. Let me try and explain it a little better.
    I import images, step away from my computer, come back screen is blank (display asleep) the computer is not. I hit the space bar to bring it back to life and then try to do the next import. For some reason Aperture cant find the disk after that. I can get to it in finder and see the filesystem and folders.
    The only way I can get back into the library is to disconnect the drive, close aperture, plug the drive back in and start aperture. If I close aperture and re-open it, it says I dont have the proper permissions to open this library, checked that, I have read & write. I dont have this problem ising the drive with any other app.
    Never had this problem prior to upgrade & if I keep importing without the screen going dark it appears to stay working. Its very strange.
    Anyone?

    I am the person who first posted this question yesterday. After reading other postings this morning, I followed the advice to "restore" 3 Mozilla files which had been quarantined by Norton Internet Security yesterday. My Firefox 3.6.6 now works great. Also see:

  • How do I import images from my hard drive without losing resolution? My original files after import are significantly smaller. What should I do?

    How do I import images from my hard drive without losing resolution? My original files after import are significantly smaller. What should I do?

    Hi Keith, and all others chiming in, I do have the correct option checked in advanced settings telling iPhoto to copy the images into the library. What is a refernced library? Perhaps this is where I am getting confused. I exported my entire photo library from an old iMac5 to my external hard drive, from there I attempted to import the entire library to my new iMac. Am I overlooking an obvious and easy way to import from the hard drive to the new iMac--I dragged the entire photo pholder from the hard drive to the open window of iPhoto on the new computer. Now, I only get preview file sizes in iPhoto, unless I have my external drive open. Perhaps I need to import the original images from the hard drive in a different way...?! (This is making me feel pretty stupid.)

  • How to import images in iPhoto?

    I use iPhoto importing images from this same computer and from iPhone with iCloud. A problem I've always suffered also before buying iPhone was that I can't import images in iPhoto.
    Well, I can drag an image from, for example, the desktop, but if I delete that file on the desktop I won't be able to open that image in iPhoto, even if I've imported it. This is because of I don't know a way to "consolidate the library" in iPhoto (while I usually do it in iTunes), so iPhoto just manages my images, but it doesn't really import them.
    When, in iPhoto, I import a photo shooted with iPhone and showed in Photo Stream, that photo is really copied in the library, so in the computer, and I can delete the photo source, in fact if I delete that photo from Photo Stream that photo will remain however in iPhoto, and if I click on the high menu bar (FIle, Show Original ), a Finder window of the folder in which there is the copied photo will be opened. That finder is "hidden" in the stuff of the iPhoto Library (in Images folder of Mac), but it's not simply to go and find any photo in this way (folders and subfolders named with long numbers).
    So can I choose what way to use? The good of that second method is that iPhoto manage directly and really its photos because it "has" them, but the bad is the almost impossible way to find photos in that organization library (waster than iTunes media folder, that is clear). The good of the first method is that no automatic copies will be created because iPhoto just manage photos which remain in my folders, but the bad is that iPhoto doesn't manage them direclty, but depending on my folders and my files wherever and however they are, and I can't edit them because I would change the file that is used in iPhoto with an other different version.
    I think this is an annoying problem because there is a file with photos (i.e. the iPhoto Library) that contains copies of photos occuping memory while I don't know this is happening, because that copy is not announced, and simultaneously I have those photos of iPhoto free to be changed and removed with the risk of disappearing from the photos of the program.

    I can drag an image from, for example, the desktop, but if I delete that file on the desktop I won't be able to open that image in iPhoto, even if I've imported it
    That's an indication that you may have your library set up as a referenced library:
    Check the Advanced preferences in iPhoto to see if that checkbox is selected or not.  If it isn't checkec, check it and try importing agan.
    To make sure all Photo Stream photos are automatically imported into your library set up iPhoto's PS preferences like this:
    You should read this User Tip by Terence Devlin which is the best treatise on how to access photos (for use outside of iPhoto):  How to Access Files in iPhoto

    After importing images from my card using LR 5.4, the GPS data does not show in the metadata panel. However, when I look at the imported images using Bridge, the GPS data is visible. Anybody know why LR is not seeing the GPS data? Camera is Canon 6D.

    Ok, the issue seem to be solved. The problem was this:
    The many hundred files (raw and xmp per image) have been downloaded by ftp in no specific order. Means - a couple of files in the download queue - both raw and xmps. Most of the time, the small xmp files have been finished loading first and hence the "last change date" of these xmp files was OLDER than the "last change date" of the raw file - Lightroom then seem to ignore the existence of the xmp file and does not read it during import.(a minute is enough to run into the problem)
    By simply using the ftp client in a way that all large raw files get downloaded first followed by the xmp files, we achieved that all "last changed dates" of the xmp files are NEWER than the related raw files. (at least not older)
    And then LR is reading them and all metadata information has been set / read correctly.
    So this is solved.

  • Importing images with Lightroom 2  & Camera RAW 4.5

    The following query has been raised with Adobe Technical Support (5 days ago and I am still waiting for a response/reply. They claim to reply within 24 hours but they have not on this occasion......they seem to be ignoring me
    Perhaps a fellow user can help to identify or resolve the problem.
    Operating System:
    Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 3)
    Software:
    Adobe Design Premium CS3 (10.0.1); Photoshop Lightroom 1.4 (which was working fine) and Lightroom 2 (on trial and not working particularly well)
    I am using a trial download of Photoshop Lightroom 2 (with Camera RAW 4.5 in Photoshop CS3).
    I am having a few problems with editing Lightroom 2 images in Photoshop CS3 but I understand that Adobe is currently investigating a solution to this problem.
    I have also noticed another potential problem since I have started to import images from a computer drive to Lightroom 2 and converting the Manufacturers RAW files to DNG (with the option to leave the files at their current location/drive).
    My RAW and JPEG files open ok in Camera RAW (v 4.5) for basic editing and subsequently to Photoshop for more detailed work. The problem is that all my images are now opening as Smart Objects by default in Photoshop CS3, as opposed to opening as a Background layer". (I have not knowingly opted to use the Open as Smart Object option.
    I am not entirely sure how this came about but I have also lost the capacity to edit images with empty Levels adjustment layers or percentage (%) grey fill option).
    I am able to highlight the respective layer and create the empty Levels adjustment layer, change the blend mode to either Multiply or Screen, fill the Layer Mask with Black (Alt & backspace), change the opacity level as desired, select the brush tool and change the foreground colour to white to enable the applicable Dodge or Burn processes.
    Unfortunately, it does not function irrespective of the preferred opacity level. The Dodge or Burn feature is static with no effect on the image.
    I cannot recall any settings to open all files as Smart Objects in Photoshop CS3 but would welcome some help in identifying such a setting if it exists. Alternatively, I would welcome any other suggested methods of correcting the above difficulties.
    The same difficulties are evident when I try to use the Dodge or Burn features via the Edit and Fill option with a percentage of Grey and the Overlay Blend Mode.
    The "Common Denominator" of the above difficulties appear to be Lightroom 2 and Camera RAW 4.5 (individually and or collectively) and now I am stuck between a rock and a hard place.
    Are any other users experiencing similar issues or have any suggestions about how I might correct or resolve these problems? ......
    I am not afraid of hearing or accepting that the "Dummy Factor" has played some part or how I may release myself from the said "Dummy Factor".....any help is welcome help.
    Adobe Technical Support seems to be ignoring me......I wonder why?
    Regards
    Bob Wallace

    Essentially you are wrapping the raw image data into a special type of layer, a "smart object". You can then revisit and fine tune the Camera Raw conversion as often as you want and take advantage of working directly on the raw data in its pre-Photoshop purity. You can also apply to this smart object layer a number of Photoshop adjustments and filters - and again redo and fine tune them as often as you wish.
    You'll find them explained in a number of recent books. I know Scott Kelby is keen on them, there are examples on Russell Brown's site, and my own book last year on B&W strongly advocated their use.
    Have a play.

  • Is there a way to import images that have been edited and assign them to the original?

    I am transitioning to mac and aperture. Is there a way to import images that have been edited and assign them to the original? I have 10,000 originals and about 2,000 edited images. The originals are named img_XXXX and anything modified img_XXXX_modified. I would like to be able to import the originals and then import the edited versions and assign them to the original masters. Instead of starting from here and going forward with 12,000 masters, some of which are actual originals and others not. Thanks for the help.

    Ah, the vestiges of a destructive workflow! Once you "get" Aperture, (specifically Masters and Versions) you are going to love it, as all of this work goes away - the relationship that you seek to retain is automatic in Aperture; it is simply done differently.
    The short answer to your question is EVERY image file that is Imported into Aperture will create a new Master and one Version. Assuming that your images are PSD/TIFF/JPEG that you created in something like Photoshop, then each one that your import will be a new Master. You have many options:
    -- Stick the originals in one Project(s) and the edited versions in another Project(s).
    -- Stick them all in the same Project(s) and "Stack" them.
    But here is the real question: Why are you doing all of this work and what are you trying to accomplish? Seems you are trying to preserve old things that don't need preserving in a non-destructive workflow.
    So, what is most valuable to you?
    -- The original, out of camera files? (That is, the fear/need to revert.)
    -- The edited versions? (That is the hours of work that it took you to get there.)
    If the former, import the originals and ignore the edited versions. (Either simply leave them out on disk or import them into their own Projects which you ignore.) Use Aperture to recreate the work you had done previously. This will always give you the ability to revert to the original Master and create as many Versions as you want. This is the best idea if your edits are relatively simple crops and exposure adjustments,
    If the latter, then import the edited versions and do as above with the originals. This makes more sense if your work uses lots of layers and, perhaps lots of clone tool type corrections.
    Of course, you can do a bit of both.
    Others may have better suggestions, but you will find it easy to answer your own question when you understand an image based, as opposed to a file based, non-destructive workflow.
    Good luck!
