I need to dynamically update current year in AssemblyCopyright section under Assembly.info.vb

I am just curious why you need to do this?
Are you updating the .exe? If not, why do you need to change the copyright date?
Cant you update the whole .exe file with the new copyright?
I suppose if one knew how to do this they could change the copyright name for any app on the system as well? Would that be malicious?

Mac OS X 10.5.8 is years old, 3 major versions out-of-date and unsupported at this point. You will never get any further updates for 10.5.8, and more and more applications will stop supporting 10.5.8 as time goes on. As mende1 points out, you can buy Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6), which will let you use your new iPhone with your computer, but you need to make sure your computer's hardware is supported. See the system requirements for Snow Leopard:

If your computer cannot run Snow Leopard, you will need to either buy a new computer or abandon any thoughts of syncing the iPhone with that computer.
Also, note that you'll get far better integration of your iPhone and your Mac if you're using Lion (Mac OS X 10.7) or Mountain Lion (Mac OS X 10.8), which are required to use iCloud. Of course, the requirements of those systems are even steeper than those of Snow Leopard:

Script to update a field for current year

Is it possible to have a field update to finish the current year? Example 20-- (the dashes to change to whatever year it is). I'm thinking that it's not possible but if someone knows how it can be done I would really appreciate help. Thanks

I've tried a few scripts that I found here, such as; year(dateAdd('yyyy', 1, now())) with no luck. I admit I have no knowledge of scripts and may be doing something wrong. Does the script go under the Action tab as a javascript or somewhere else (validation??) Any advice or help would be appreciated. I am using Acrobt Pro version 9.

You can not just cut and paste scripts since one needs to be aware of the object, the object's properties, and the object's methods that may need to be changed. Form your example it looks like you are trying to use a user defined function call and without the JavaScript for the function the code you posted will not work.
You will need to use the JavaScript Date object to obtain the current date. You can then use either the 'getFullYear()' or 'getYear()' method to the get the 4 digit year or the 2 digit year and mellenium inicator. From these numbers you can extract the 2 digit year by converting the numbers to strings and then extracting a sub string from the character string.
The following scripts are custom calculation scripts/
// using the getFullYear() method:
event.value = String(new Date().getFullYear()).substr(2,4);
// using the getYearmillenniumindicator() method:
event.value = String(new Date().getYear()).substr(2,4);
If you want the full year:
// using the getFullYear() method:
event.value = new Date().getFullYear();

Current Year in a calculated field

I need to calculate how long a client has been with our company. I created a "inception date" field for when they became a client, but every new year I have to go in and update the formula with the current year. Is there a way this
formula can automatically update with each new year so I don't have to remember to do it manually (e.g., the 2013 is replaced with Year(Today) or something like that).

Lets assume that you somehow managed to replace 2013 with something more dynamic (e.g. workflow or whatever) but you do realize that your calculated column is not going to be update itself. Correct? You need to update the item to have the updated value anyway
in the calculated column.
Given that you need to update item at-least once to have the updated value.
You can automate this process either by using a service, a Visual Studio Workflow or SPD Workflow. If you use workflow the key is to run workflow on single item and let workflow update items in actual list. This can be easily achieve using VS workflow but
using SPD You may need some workaround. One example shown below.

Dynamically update a KF name?

I have numerous key figures which are based on the year (past, present, and future).
For example, I have a key figure which identifies the percent difference between current year sales and last year's sales. The key figure is: "2008 Total vs 2007 Total % Chg."
Every year, I have to update this book to adjust for the new year.
I'd like to be able to remove this manual intervention, while still displaying year. Is there any way that I can dynamically set the KF name based on the date? So, when Jan 1, 2009 hits the key figure would automatically roll over to the new year and display "2009 Total vs 2008 Total % Chg".

If your requirement will be fulfilled by dynamically changing the color or something like that, you can use Macros for that...

AA634 : Write up of current year's depreciation

Hi,
I believe we cannot write up current year dep but only of the previous fiscal year.
Is there any way to write up for current year's depreciation?
I cannot post a negative amount in uplanned depreciation. If I enter the amount of the curreny year dep in ABZU with 700 Ttyp it give me below message

Diagnosis
The line item cannot be posted, since the correction to ordinary depreciation in area 01 exceeds the cumulative ordinary depreciation.
The error can occur during a transfer, a write-up, or post-capitalization.

My asset value on 31st March 2010 is around 2,00,000. But during the year it is gone upto 13 Crores..
But we have provided some excess dep. on the same. so we plan to use ABZU.. Bus faced with the following error.

Hi Sree,
you can go to the following Customizing path:
-> Financial Accounting
   -> Asset Accounting
    -> Depreciation
     -> Unplanned depreciation
      -> Define Transaction Types for Unplanned Depreciation
       -> Define Transaction Types for Unplanned Depreciation (AO78)
=> Here, you can copy the transaction type eg 640 to Z64 OR 650 to Z65 (depending on the transaction type that you use in ABAA).
=> Here you have the flag for Debit and Credit, which you have to change as described above.
After creating the new transaction type, please proceed to the following path:
-> Financial Accounting
- > Asset Accounting
    -> Depreciation
     -> Unplanned depreciation
      -> Define Transaction Types for Unplanned Depreciation
       -> Limit Transaction Types to Depreciation Areas (OAXE)
Here, you can select the transaction type created (eg. Z64 or Z65) in the previous step and limit the transaction to non leading ledger.
After that, please run ABAA using the newly created transaction type and non leading should only be updated as described above.
Please test out the transaction in testing/development server before you apply this to the production server.

Dynamic update of safety stock in SAP R/3 systems (ECC 5.0 version)

Forgive my newness to SAP. Let me explain the problem i am facing in SAP. I want to identify the parameters to dynamically update the finished goods safety stock for each depot by SKU wise.
Current process :- Safety stock is calculated manually and updated by using Transaction code MS02 in the system.
It would be highly useful if i know the flow in SAP system and how the current process can be changed?
If more info is required i'm ready to give.

Sales forecasting is done in excel for every month and updated to SAP via BAPI. After that DRP,MRP and other runs takes place.
What are all the areas i need to touch in to get the parameters to update the safety stock?

Dynamically Updating Content Server Portlets

[urlHi, I am currently having difficulty dynamically updating content server portlets. I have a portlet of the following form:[/url]
ArticleName Author Title Date mystory author1 title1 04/05/01
story2 author2 title2 06/07/04
story author3 title3 01/02/03
So I have this table where each one of the line items is an article in the content server. So, for example the first line item is an article "mystory" by "author1", with title "title1" and date "04/05/01" additionally there is an article text field, but this isn't displayed unless I click on the article name.
I can set up the basics of this portlet, but when I try to add any real functionality I run into one of two problems.
First Problem: Passing Information
I cannot find a way to pass information between content portlets. For instance, if the user would like to "re-sort" this table based on "date", I would like to have the user click on the "date" column heading and then reload the page. To do so, I would have to pass the section name back to the page so that it could resort based on this data. I have not found anyway to effectively pass information to a content server portlet. I am building these pages through use of the presentation template framework (so I can have access to the content items) but that seems to change the way portlets are handled.
I got around this limitation with a regular portlet by creating an intermediary page which captures passed information and stores it to the session state. Once the information was in the session state, it is accessible to the portlet on the first page. However, this only works because remote portlets do not change their session id once loaded. Content Server portlets, on the other hand, change their session id after every reload of the browser or page change. I can send information from a content server portlet to an intermediary page, but I cannot send it back to the portlet because the session id has changed so I have no idea of knowing where to send the information. I can write it to a session state, but by the time I return to the portal page, the content server has changed its session id so it does not know where to look any longer.
I suppose it would be possible to create an application state variable and append it with some static token (if there is some static variable per portal session) but I would rather not have to deal with application variables if at all possible.
Second Problem: Dynamically Updating PCS Tags
Even if I were able to the pass information back to my content server portlet, I run into another issue. The easiest way to sort content server items is using the filter command in the pcs:foreach tag. So, if I wanted to sort by author name, I could do something like the following <pcs:foreach var="item" expr="filter(folderByName('content'), filtered.name == '"name")" or something like that (the syntax may be incorrect, I just wrote this off the top of my head). However, it appears that the way the presentation templates are compiled goes in the order of PCS tags THEN JSP. So I would have no way of dynamically changing the variable on which I sort. For example, if I clicked on "Date" above in my table, I would like to be able to dynamically change my code so that I sort on date, and not name. I cannot find a solution to this problem.
My workaround is to use the pcs tags to write out all the possible sortings to java array objects. This gives me access to the data on a JSP level and based on whatever the user will chose, I could then display that array. While this works, it is extremely ghetto and inefficient. Any help or suggestions would be fantastic.

You can use just about any javascript you want in any Content Server presentation template including ones that are used for portlets.
However, you should be careful to name javascript functions and global variables uniquely so that they do not conflict with any other javascript on the page. To do this, you can append the item id to function and variable names, for example,

HTTPS, DNS and dynamically updating DNS records

Hello to you all, if you are able to help with a DNS problem that I'm having then please accept my thanks and appreciation in advance.
First some background information, I recently moved my server from my studio to my house where a new purpose built studio will soon be erected. At my old studio any requests for myurl.com came in via the IP (whether that be http, https, ftp etc) from the domain registrar and the router would send the request to the relevant port number whether that be 80 for http or 443 for https etc and all was well as this location had a fixed IP address. Unfortunately at my new location whilst I have a much faster connection I do not have a fixed IP. To get around this I have the following set up (not ideal for a business I know but perfectly OK for home hosting); I set up two psuedo nameservers at no-ip.com (ns1myurl.com and ns2myurl.com) which tracks the changes in my IP address and updates its records accordingly, my registrar then sends any requests to these 'nameservers' and no-ip then forwards it on to my server. So far so good.
The problem arises once the requests get to my server, whilst I have DNS set up, I can only recieve requests from a straight request to the server ie myurl.com will display the site without any problem, but if I then put a www in front of that or try to access the https part of my site (which is set up as a seperate site on the same server) then the server throws an error. I have tried to put an alias (CNAME) into the zone but it does not want to resolve the request. I have searched around but to no avail, I am totally new to DNS so am currently on a steep learning curve and fumbling around in the dark.
The first thing that I need to get working is the request to be resolved correctly and then (and this is where the real fun starts!) is to dynamically update the IP in the DNS records as the IP changes. I will probably have to get help in on this as I understand that this requires BIND of which I know nothing about, first though I'd like to get the pages to be served up correctly. Advice, hints, tips or links to tutorials all greatly appreciated. Full set up listed below.

Thanks for the reply Camelot, that part though I had already figured out. I now have this working, all I did was change the external IP to the internal one of the server with resolves with the .local machine name and all is working just fine (for now!). As long as I have primary zones set for each site and any alias or services set up on them then everything works well.. The real test will be when my ISP changes the IP, whilst my tests have proved successful the proof will be when they update the address.

I'm running a YTD report. When I open the report, I have the calendar/month button defaultet to the previous month (e.g.03/2005). If I select another month e.g.11/2004. I need to calculate YTD current year for selected month 11/2004, YTD previous year e.g. 11/2003, total previous year e.g. 2003, Variance and update the columns with the months e.g.YTD112004, YTD112003, TY2003, VAriance%. How do I translate the month, I selected to the columns title and values? Could you please explain the entire process?

Dynamic Update in real time with slider control

We have requirements to display complex data in a graphical format. So far this has gone well by leveraging ADF and DVT components (dvt:Map, dvt:gauge, dvt:bargraph, af:tables, af:inputNumberSlider, etc.); however, we recently have been asked to add real-time animation of these controls over time. In brief, the user requires the ability to control the on-screen visualization of data by sliding the control on an af:inputNumberSlider (or equivalent) that represents a multi-month time scale. While sliding this control, the user expects to see the data visualization controls dynamically update in real time, keeping up with the rate at which the user moves the slider control. Think of this like a flip book animation where the slider controls the page the user is looking at and they can flip through the pages forwards or backwards at any desired speed. The time slider increments are one hour.

Hi,
the af:inputNumberSlider does not provide this functionality. Your alternative is a custom component (or any component that raises a client JS event) and call an af:serverListener in a custom event to send the notification to the server.

Dynamic Update of .war files or .ear files

Hello,
I don't see this ability in the current servlet spec. I was wondering if someone has come up with a way to implement the following idea.
I'd like to dynamically update, add, and remove files from a .war file that is running in X servlet engine/application server. An example is adding new HTML files on the fly, or new Style Sheets. The files that I'm trying to add are not class files or any executable files.
If you have any thoughts on how to do this or have done this, please let me know.

It depends on what webserver you're using, and how you configure it.
With Tomcat 4.0, each .war file on startup is extracted to it's own directory and from there any modifications have to be done with the actual files. the .war file is no longer used except as a backup.
Now, with something like JBoss + Tomcat, the .war file is hot deployed anytime a new .war file is copied into the deploy folder. Personally I love this feature, as it forces you to actually "deploy" an application with updates all at once. And actually, you can get around this and modify individual files, but I wouldn't recomend it.
So, as is the answer with so much of Java and J2EE, it all depends on your setup and configuration! =)

How to extend current year accounting calendar?

Due to the business requirements, there is a need to change the accounting periods from Apr-Mar to Jul-Jun. The current FY13 is from Apr-12 to Mar-13. The new FY14 will be changed to Jul-13 to Jun-14. So the periods from Apr-12 to Jun-12 will be considered as FY13. This means FY13 will have 15 accounting periods instead of 12.
Read the document from 11i: Calendar Changes That Can Be Supported In General Ledger (GL) [ID 357269.1]. Two alternatives are suggested:
1. Define a new SOB with new account periods.
2. Update the current calendars.
However both approaches does not mentioned how to consider the extension of the no. of accounting periods in the current year. In GL, the no. of account period is controlled by period type. However, it does not allow to change the no. of period. So how can the current FY can be extended? May I know the way to do it?

Thanks for your reply. But the current E-Business Suite version is 11i, not on R12. There is no secondary ledger functionality. Also, only the current year will have 18 accounting periods. In the coming FY, it will keep to have 12 periods. So properly secondary ledger cannot help on this case.

MDX syntax for current year in a Pre-defined condition

I'm looking for assistance in building a Pre-defined condition in a universe based on an MSAS 2005 OLAP cube, that only returns the current year.
My year is defined as [Time Accounting].[Accounting].[Accounting Year]
I can create a Pre-defined filter that accepts a constant value as follows:
<FILTER KEY="[Time Accounting].[Accounting].[Accounting Year]">
     <CONDITION OPERATORCONDITION="Equal">
          <CONSTANT CAPTION="2008"/>
     </CONDITION>
</FILTER>
and it works fine, however, I would like to make it dynamic.
There is an attribute called current year that is defined as [Time Accounting].[Accounting Year].[Accounting Year].[Current Year].[Value] but when I try and put this into my pre-defined filter nothing is returned:

Hi,
In OLAP universe, you cannot define a filter with CAPTION = another universe object.
What you can do is CAPTION = String or CAPTION = @Prompt.
By the way, if you want to achieve what you are requiring, I suggest you create a calculate expression such as:
<EXPRESSION>
IIF([Time Accounting].[Accounting Year.].CurrentMember.Properties("Name") = [Time Accounting].[Accounting Year.].CurrentMember.Properties("Current Year"), 1, 0)
</EXPRESSION>
Then you can define your filter on your new calculated expression and the operator to Equal and CAPTION = 1
