Dynamically update Frame Viewer during Color Correction?

Is it possible to dynamically update the Framer Viewers in Multiple Edits mode?
I mean, when you move the cursor to a new clip, the Frame Viewers update. However if you hit play, the Frame Viewers remain on the same frames even though the cursor hops along to new cuts.
It'd be nice if the Frame Viewers updated to the previous & next cut automatically/dynamically as you play ... the only way I see to update them is to stop playback & pause on a new cut.

Hold option down while launching to reset prefs.
Start or open another project with different media. If everything OK, that makes it look like your project or media are corrupt.  Start new project with same media.  If OK, then your previous project could have been corrupt.  And so on.
Deleting your media cache can also banish some crashing.

  • Color correcting multi edit clips

I need some help. I would like to do the color correcting on 3 clips that will be used in a multi edit. The way I have been color correcting the footage is to just drag the whole clip on the timeline and do the color correcting before I do any editing and cutting of the clip. Is there a way I can do the same thing with multi cam clips? Once they are on the timeline, the corrections are made on the timeline, but the original clips don't change?
    Bruce Cleveland

I think Jerry is suggesting you do the following:
-Duplicate your clip in the browser (option-d)
-Dbl-click the new clip (will load it in viewer)
-Apply Color Correction (this will affect the clip as it resides in your browser, leaving the original master clip untouched)
-lather/rinse/repeat for all clips to be used in multiclip
-create your multi-clip and edit away
Can I also do this with clips on the timeline
There are procedures for this within a multiclip environment, but I'm not remembering them well enough and no longer have access to a multiclip system for review and assistance. Check your manual..I remember this part frankly being a little convoluted, so a search of this forum or the other previously posted links should help.

  • Color Correction: different result in Frame Viewer and Canvas

    Hi all:
I´m doing some color correction with the 3 way CC tool and i´m having troubles with Frame Viewer: the results are not the same in the Canvas and Frame Viewer. The colors in Frame Viewer are a little bit more saturated and they are also a bit darker. I´ m talking about the half Frame Viewer that is supposed to show me the final result after the color correction.
Mi footage is in HDV 720 25p. Anyone know what is happening????

You'll probably find them lined up at your Chevy dealer.

  • Color Corrector's Frame Viewer Split Not Showing Up On External Monitor

    Kind've a long title - sorry - but . . . here's my question:
Why am I not able to see the Frame Viewer's split on my external monitor?
A further, more detailed explanation of the problem:
I recently purchased Ripple Training's Color Correction with Andrew Balis. It's very, very imformative and I think will help a lot when it comes time to begin color correcting the feature I'm working on. The section I'm on shows the Frame Viewer tab in the Tool Bench window that presents itself when one opens Color Correction under the Arrange area. In other words, Arrange>Color Correction sets up your windows for color correcting with your Viewer, Canvas, and Tool Bench windows aligned from left to right. When one opens up the 3 Way Color Corrector on a clip and makes a change in the clip, the Frame Viewer tab in the Tool Bench window will show a split screen where on one side you'll have your clip with the color correction you just did, and the other side un-color corrected. Isn't this (split) image supposed to show up in your external monitor just as the images in the Canvas and the Viewer?
That doesn't seem to be happening on my external monitor.
I'm not sure if this problem/issue I'm having is related to the muticlipl issue I posted in an earlier thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1330596&tstart=0
    perhaps.
Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Javier Calderon

Ahhh, Shane. So it's as simple as that? So then there's nothing wrong with my setup or my external monitor? FCP's just not designed to show the Tool Bench's Frame Viewer image in your external monitor? Wow . . . Well that answers that then I guess. And you're right . . . that IS indeed kind've lame . . .
    Thanks.
    Javier
. . . um . . . doesn't that kind've defeat the purpose of proper color correction then (regarding the Tool Bench's Frame Viewer anyway)? If the only place you can see your color corrected Frame Viewer split images is on a monitor that's NOT suited for color correction? Anyway . . . just a thought . . .

  • When viewing the color blue on my iPad it appears greenhe correct color appears on my computer screen. Can this be resolved?

When viewing the color blue on my iPad it appears greenhe correct color appears on my computer screen. Can this be resolved?

    Try this:
Make sure IOS is updated to latest version
Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings
(no media or data will be deleted from the device, this will only take a minute).
If that doesn't work then backup and then restore the device as new.
And if none of that works, take it to an apple store or call apple support

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Can't see secondary color correction in the viewer! Help...

Hello, fairly new at FCPro but I am trying to isolate reds in a clip and change them to purple & orange. I am using the Color Corrector Filter and when isolating the reds and making adjustments I do not see any changes in the viewer.
The eyeball icon on the top left of the window is checked but I can't visually see any changes happening. Can someone please tell me what is going on?
    Thanks,
    Dan G

One other simple gotcha is to be color correcting but the viewer is not showing the current clip (the one you are working on...)
Thanks for posting back. Good to have closure on questions.

  • Simplest way to view color corrections?

In Color, I have a very small square that displays the image in the top left of the program. This window can not be made larger and I have a really hard time seeing the color changes I'm making. The program also appears to have a darker image that what I view in FCP or AE or anywhere else for that matter.
What is the process to see a larger brighter image that I can actually good judgement calls on to help me color correct?
If the answer is to get an external monitor, can anyone recommend one that I can hook up to my Mac Book Pro?
    Thanks,
    glenn

    Glenn,
What are you asking for? Are you asking for an extension of your desktop user interface or are you asking for real external monitoring that will show you what Color is actually doing to your images? The two types of monitoring are different, as you know.
If you want a second desktop, just grab a computer monitor and plug into the DVI slot, but be aware that this may not be what you are actually looking for as you're still looking at the computer's preview and not ATSC/NTSC monitoring.
Unfortunately the Macbook Pro is rather limited in it's expansion capablities so you're left with a tiny interface on the laptop screen and you can get a Matrox MXO, hang it off the DVI port and hook that to an Apple Cinema Display, although I've heard it'll also work with Dell monitoring. Some folks think this is exactly broadcast quality. I've had many drinks with Shane Ross and have endured his spiel many times at how great the MXO is and while it's a solution to something, I don't buy it.
You can hang a monitor off of the Aja IO HD which interfaces via firewire but Color's preview capability is limited to standard definition through that box.
The other solution is an expansion chassis to mount some like a Kona LHe or a Decklink HD or even Intensity Pro. Magma boxes are bullet proof and they work, period. ESPN ships a boat load of these little devices hooked to pc laptops and those are your scorebugs. Magma boxes work. Period. http://www.magma.com/products/pciexpress/index.html
Your next solution is to get rid of the laptop and get a MacPro. Unlike Motion or AE or Photoshop or FCP or Premiere where an user can be the "hipster" and string pictures together in the coffee house, you really cannot color grade just anywhere. Color on a laptop is just plain useless.
So, then you need a big desk, a comfy chair, D65 lighting, a big ole UPS for power protection, you'll want good audio monitoring for iTunes radio, I like Wacom tablets, you'll want HD and SD monitoring depending upon what you work with and you'll want to get external scopes later on. Don't skimp and go cheap, there ain't nothing like a Tektronix product here.
    Cheers.

  • Key frames effect controls and Fast color correction

I just learned about keyframes and gradual transistion of effects and i like that a lot.
Putting it in practice using the Fast color correction feature ; I seemed to miss the key navigation bar (I hoped to find it on the right side of the Fast Color corrector title line or ??? in the effects control panel)
I guess I'm looking at the wrong end of the world, or do keyframes not exist for fast color correction, I seem to notice the keyframe navigation for time Remapping and opacity..... where did I lose the keyframe navigation bar for fast color correction ???
Pro CSS3 on windows XP fully patched
hoping very hard I'm just looking at the wrong side of the world
    please give me a hint.

You will find links to many
free tutorials in the PremiereProPedia that will quickly show you how things are done in Premiere Pro, including how keyframes work.

  • Final cut pro 10.1.2 Update - Color Correction / Grading Not Exporting

    Hi guys
Since upgrading to Final Cut Pro 10.1.2, the software is working almost perfectly fine, but when exporting movies - whether I export them as h264, iTunes or directly to YouTube - they do not export with the colour corrections I applied to different shots. Does anyone know a way around this?
Best wishes and I look forward to hearing from you.
    Shai

    Thanks Tom
Here's a screenshot of what the Quicktime file looks like compared to the fcp movie. There are a couple of shots where the color correction stays intact, but for the majority, the export seems to ignore it completely. Very strange.

  • Color correct disappears during fades

Hi. I'm working on clips of interviews. The backgrounds are supposed to be white. instead they are a lavenderee off-white. I color corrected them to white. But when I fade into and out of the clips, the lavender reappears in the middle of the fade and continues until the clip fades to black. Not a huge deal, but big enough to bug the client.
I was hoping the lavender would go away once I exported and compressed (fQT at current settings, then h.264). But no luck. the lavender is still there.
Anyone know why this happens and how to fix it?

Depends on how you did the colourcorrection.
If you corrected the lavender to white by burning to white, then the colour information is still there, you just don't see it, because with a total luminosity of 100% or higher will look white. As soon as you fade to black, you are lowering the luminosity and thus seeing the saturation and hue (color) again.
Open the vector scope. Try adjusting the colourcorrection that way, that the waveformmonitor just reaches 100% and is not flatted out at 100%. Hard to tell in words. But try to play with it and see what works...

  • Secondary color correction not working in Premiere CC

    Greetings,
I'm unable to build secondary color correction masks in Three Way Color Corrector, RGB Curves etc in the current version of Premiere CC.
In any of these plugins, when I check "show mask" I get the usual white slate filling the frame. But when I use the color picker to make a selection the whole frame stays white. It appears that I'm making selections but it's not building the mask for some reason. When making an extreme color change I can see that the mask is not building as it affects the whole frame.
This started after upgrading to CC. I've recently updated to the most up to date version (yesterday) and am still having the same problem.
    Premiere CC 2014.1 Release
    8.1.0 (81) Build
Macbook Pro Retina, 15" Late 2013
    2Gh Intel Core i7
    8Gb
    Intel Iris Pro 1536Mb
    Yosemite Version 10.10
*note-my Colleague is not having this problem, he's working on the same OS and same CC build but he has an Imac. So I'm guessing this problem is unique to my hardware config.
Anybody else have this problem or know of a fix?

I have the same Problem new MAC OS Premier Pro CC or Premier Pro CS6 both have an issue with the Title Tool. If you open the title tool and try to make color changes or change size of the font it sticks at the default color and default font. SOmetimes the title tool will work and then when I exit it's back to the default first type location, default font and default color. Sometimes it will not even let me exit the Title Tool.
Please help I have Projects I'm working on Deadlines and I pay a monthly Fee for Software that works and it's not working.

  • After effects color corrected clip not showing correctly in Premiere

    Hello all,
I have recently made a short film with a few effects in Premiere and After effects CS4.  I have used the Dynamic Link to accomplish this.  I have added color correction with Color Finesse in After effects.  The problem is I some of the color correction is not showing up in Premiere once it has finished.  Some of them are adjustment layers and some are not and the ones that are showing up are diverse like that as well.  I have rendered the footage and rendered the premiere time line, it fixes it at first but won't build a DVD the right way then the fixes just seem to disappear when scrolling through the timeline.
Is anyone else haveing this problem?
Do you think it's something wrong that an update will fix?
    Maybe a new codec?

Describe the exect DL steps you took.

  • Color Correction Monitor

I know this question has come up before, but after reading some posts I thought I'd see if anyone had any feedback on this monitor.
    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/469728-REG/JVCDT_V24L1DU_DTV24L1DU_24_MultiFormat.html
    It's the JVC DT-V24L1DU 24" Multi-Format LCD Monitor with 1080p Native Resolution and HD-SDI.
    I've got a Kona LHe card with HD-SDI I/O.
Could I do critical color correction with that setup? I'm not at the stage where my color correction is critical yet, but I don't want to be re-buying anything if I don't have to.
    Any suggestions?
    Lawrence

This isn't an area of color correction per-say but involves general engineering of all the different video signals and how to mix them up and travel back and forth and what not.
Generally speaking, HD video is in a completely different color space than Analog/Digital video. itu-709 vs. itu-601. How are those conversions handled? Is the device you're using accurate? It's just one of the many bains of video engineers that care.
I've heard but not been able to confirm that some JVC hdv cams are in the itu-601 spec which if true would totally throw off how FCP handles color space conversion and the nearest I can tell that it does this is simply through frame size.
How are you monitoring currently? Aside from this monitor, what interface is spitting that video out of your computer? Currently at my house, I use an Aja Kona LHe that spits out component analog to my PVM-14M4U. When I am working with itu-709 video, is that on-the-fly video downconversion completely accurate? Without external scopes I couldn't tell you but I'm relying on the the trustworthiness and reputation of Aja products. I've installed and use many of their products in various facilities and I know them to be of excellent reputation.
As far as your colors being far off, you tell me? Who's your viewing audience, what sort of display are they watching, how's that signal getting there?
I'm hoping some of the more learned folks here can correct or corroborate any of the info I've related this morning.
Good luck, the water gets deeper and much colder very quickly the more you know.
