Dynex tv turns off/loses power

my 3-year old dynex tv has started turning off on it's own after only about 45-60 seconds of use.  the red light (indicating power to the unit while off) goes off also for about 45 seconds.  then the red light comes back on and i am able to turn the tv on again.  i have tried unplugging the until for a half of a day, but that has not helped.  does anyone have any suggestions?  i feel that getting geek squad to come out will cost too much considering how much a new set will cost.

My TV is about the same age and having the same problem.  My temporary solution is to tape down the power button until I figure out the problem.

    Hi,
    Power Button Lockout is displayed.
The monitor's Power Button Lockout function is enabled.
Press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds to unlock the Power button function.
If the above doesn't work then try a monitor reset.  Unplug the monitor’s power cord and hold down the monitor’s power button for 30-60 seconds. Plug the monitor back in and power it up.

Bought an iPod nano for use in an external source to the unit of the BMW. It works, but don't remember the place when you turn off the power and every time begins to play the playlist first.

    Thanks iPod Whisperer--
I do realize that the nano will resume where I left off in my audiobook if I reload the file that was last playing.
What I was hoping is that the 6g nano would work like my previous iPods and default to the last file played the next time played after Iused sleep mode instead of going to some random song on the iPod.
Since I usually have a lot of audiobooks on my iPod--and most of those have 10-15 files in them, it's a pain to have to navigate to the correct file (and try to remember which of the 10-15 files I was last playing). On all my other iPods I could simply hit play and it would start up in the audiobook right where it left off.
Note--this only happens if I use the sleep timer to turn off the iPod. If I pause the book myself, when I turn the iPod back on it'll "remember" what file it was playing.
    Hope this makes sense.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Are you following these instructions.
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
    Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.

  • Plug in USB or FireWire on Cinema Display and it turns off display power

Just recently, my monitor lost power.  After checking everything, and putting in a new video card, I have discovered that the monitor works, as long as I do not plug in the USB or ForeWire cables on the end of the monitor cord into the Mac Pro.  This is 20" Apple Cinema Display.  Plugging in either one turns off the power to the display.  Unplug them, and it is back on.

Very simular, although your cycle count is higher.

  • IMac frozen in mail can't force quit turned off at power and done safe reboot still frozen?

iMac frozen in mail can't force quit turned off at power and tried safe reboot, but still frozen?

To do the NVRAM reset (be quick with Step 4, "immediately" is literal!):
    1. Power down the machine.
    2. Locate the following keys on your keyboard in preparation for Step 4:
    ‘command’ – ‘option’ – ‘P’ – ‘R’
    3. Press the ‘power on’ button.
    4. Immediately – and before the grey screen appears – hold down ‘command-option-P-R’ all together.
    5. Keep them held down until you’ve heard the start-up chime twice. After you release them you should hear it again, and hopefully your Mac will boot up as it should.

  • W520 - now changes to "projector only" whenever display turns off in power save mode

I have my W520 in a dock with an external monitor. The display is configured to Extend - the external monitor is primary, and the desktop extends onto the W520 screen. I don't have a screen saver. I turn off the display after 30 minutes of inactivity. Until recently both the laptop and monitor screens would turn off after 30 minutes, and then both resume when I moved the mouse or pressed a key.
Recently, the system has started changing to "Projector Only" when the display turns off. After resuming from power save mode, only the external monitor activates, and the W520 screen is disabled. I have to use Fn-F6 to switch back to "Extend" to re-activate the laptop screen.
I have rebooted and re-saved the power plan.
Why has this happened, and how do I fix it?

    Hi, timg11
I have a few questions so that I may gain a better grasp of this issue:
    1) What is your machine type and model? You can find this information on the bottom of your machine. It should be in format XXXX-XXX.
    2) What is your operating system?
    3) Does this issue occur is the computer is not in the docking station? (Please try if you haven't already).
    Thanks in advance,
    Adam

  • Cannot wake up screen afer turned off by Power Saver on Tecra M5

    Tecra M5; XP SP2.
    Screen saver disabled.
Toshiba power saver set to turn off monitor after 10 minutes.
Once turned off, I cannot get monitor to turn back on.
I have tried various combinations of fn and function keys but to no avail.
Only solution seems to be to send to hibernate (power off button is set to hibernate).
Screen lights up to say hibernating and works fine after restart. Not a critical error but very irritating

    Hi,
For this problem exists a Microsoft Quickfix: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917332

  • When watching a streamed movie, Firefox works briefly, stops, buffers, and then prevents any further action on my Mac, which I must turn off with power button.

A streamed movie will run smoothly for maybe 5 minutes. Then it will begin to buffer. The multicolored icon turns and turns and nothing happens. I try to go back to browsing but cannot. I try to close netflix but cannot. I try to close Firefox but cannot. Everything is basically frozen and the only way I can turn off my Mac is to press the power button.

Have you tried anything on this page?

  • Cannot turn off on power button efter upgrading to Yosemite

I usually turn off or stand by on the power button. But that does not work after upgrading to Yosemite; now I have to click the Apple icon instead. Not a big trouble, but still annoying. Can I set something up to reenable the power button? If not, does a shortcut key to the apple menu exist?

    Hello there, Alyfarroukh.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps for troubleshooting your very issue:
Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694
    Particularly:
    Resolve communication issues
Related errors: 17, 1004, 1013, 1638, 3014, 3194, or 3000-3999. These alerts refer to gs.apple.com, say "There was a problem downloading the software," or say the "device isn't eligible for the requested build."
Check the hosts file or TCP/IP filtering, which might cause communication issues between iTunes, ports, and servers.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

  • Turn off iphone power button broken and touchscreen selectively unresponsive

I have an iPhone 4S w/ iOS 7, my power button has broken so I have enabled the Accessibility features in order to lock and unlock my phone.
That has been working fine. Now, my touch screen is selectively responsive. It IS NOT broken or damaged in anyway. I can access the pull down and pull up menus, I can ask Siri to search for something and I can scroll through the responses she returns. I can visit one of those web pages she returns and scroll inside of those as well.
However, any scrolling that is related to a Home screen function I can not perform. For example, I can't "flick" away apps to close them, I can't hold down the "Lock Screen" button which then presents the "Slide to turn off" slider, the touchscreen won't slide the slider... When I do access either the pull down or pull up menus, I can see them but I cannot select anything on them, the touchscreen is unresponsive. When my phone is locked I can't swipe to unlock it.
We do not have home POTS service, so this is my only means of calling for help if I needed to, and now I can't. This is a very unfortunate failure.

  • Powerbook turns off when power disconnected

I have a 3 week old Powerbook G4 (new model.)
Today its developed the problem where if you disconnect the mains
supply it completely turns off, even though the battery is charged.
When I plug it back in and turn it on I get the warning that my clock
    needs resetting.
Obviously I will contact Apple support but thought I'd try on here
first incase its something easy to fix
    Any help appreciated
    Paul

    Hi Paul --
I agree, a call to Apple support and perhaps a trip to your local Apple Store Genius bar or Apple Authorized Service provider would appear to be in order.
The only things I can think of for you to try in the interim is to reset your PB's Power Management Unit and your PRAM. Here's how
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449 ;
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
I don't have much hope that these procedures will fix things, but it is likely that the support people will ask you to do them in any event as part of their troubleshooting procedures.
Good luck and post back what happens.
