  • Dyslexia font not working in all incoming emails

    Dear Mozilla Support, Monday 5-5th-2014
I have Dyslexia and recently started using fonts for the disorder on my PC and e-reader. This increased my reading speed dramatically with better retention. Kind of a big deal for me as I use the PC & web lot.
Others and myself figured out how to change fonts in Firefox but Thunderbird is different. After changing Tbird's display formatting some incoming email is in the new Dyslexia font (so far all adds) but only a few corespondent emails, most are in the sender's original font.
Can you give instructions on how to change all my incoming email to the Dyslexia font?
    Thanks for your help.
    Sincerely, ddbob.

    Try this:
    * 'Tools ' > 'Options' > 'Display' > 'Formatting' tab
    or
    * '3bar menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Options' > 'Display' > 'Formatting' tab
    * under 'Fonts & Colours', select the default font and size
    * click on 'Advanced' button
    Under 'Font Control'
    * do not select, uncheck 'Allow messages to use other fonts'
    * click on OK

  • Does Apple have any dyslexia support?

I have dyslexia and I've tried using the voice over and it makes it difficult to use the iPad because I have to repeatedly press buttons and other things, it doesn't help at all that it reads absolutely everything, instead of what I just needed it to read! I tried using the text speak, But it doesn't work on all of the text and sometimes it speaks in Foreign languages which is absolutely no good for me! I also use the Siri voice into text thing, but sometimes I think it has worse dyslexia then I do Half  the time it comes up with things that has absolutely nothing to do with what I've just said! I need apple to realise that people with dyslexia need help as well as people with eye site difficulty and hearing difficulty I need assistance with reading, writing, understanding text and the spelling of texts! I need to be able to change the colour of the screen and maybe even the colour of the text itself the size of the text and it's spacing in the text in order to be able to read it and understand it! A lot of people have dyslexia isn't it about time that Apple and other companies did something that helped people with dyslexia!

Apple are not the only ones that create apps for the iPad and iPhone and other things! A lot of these people had a lot of text which is not accessible to people with dyslexia! This is due to the sheer amount of text and the fact that they don't get any help by the creators to read it! So this is not just for Apple! It's for anyone who is interested in creating apps! To get them to think about how their App can be used by people with dyslexia and other disabilities!

  • Are there iPad applications for dyslexia?

Are there iPad applications for an eight yr old girl with dyslexia?  Are there online programs that you know about that will aid these children at home?  Any help appreciated.  I am new at this so I am not certain how to find the responses posted.

Search Apps Store for "dyslexia". There are many apps that might be of interest to you
If you cannot find this response, there is little point in trying to tell you how to find it...

  • I have dyslexia and use the color yellow as a background to the majority of the documents I read, however there is no option to change the background colour from white to yellow. Is there a way of making PDF backgrounds a different color?

I would really appreciate it if someone could assist me on this problem - it would make my life so much easier. I am a specialist infection prevention nurse and am constantly having to refer to PDF documents, I usually have to print each of these lengthy documents onto yellow paper (which at times I consider a waste of paper) I would much prefer to be able to read them on my laptop.
    Thanks
    Plumcrazi_2005

Try this: Go to Edit - Preferences - Accessibility and tick the Change Document Colors box. Then select the Custom Color option and you'll be able to select your own page and text colors. This might not work for all documents (like scanned ones), but it should help with most...

  • Need to run firefox 3.6 because of un-supported plugin.

    Hello,
I am looking for advice on how to run Firefox 3.6 as securely as possible.
Yes I realize that is an outdated and insecure, but I have no choice.
I use a commercial product called Kurzweil Reader. It is a screen reader designed specifically for people with dyslexia. Other alternatives exist, but they are tailored to blind people. The visual and auditory aspects of the Kurzweil plugin are key to it's function. Upgrading to a new version is not an option either, due to the very steep pricing.
So I'm stuck using Firefox 3.6 when I want to use my screen reader.
    So my questions are:
What is the best way to use the current version of Firefox as my main browser, but have the older Firefox 3.6 available to use when I wish to use the screen reader.
I'm thinking an old version of Firefox Portable, along with some configuration modifications to make it more secure, could be an option. I won't be shopping or doing banking on the older version, but I still do want to harden thing's a bit. I'm thinking disabling all plugins in it and installing "no-script". I need suggestions on settings that I can change or other plugins that I can add to "harden" my Firefox 3.6 installation.
Also running 3.6 in some sort of sandbox could be another option.
    Thanks for any ideas!

Firefox Portable 3.6 should work, but it may not "find" the Kurzwell Plugin for Firefox. You would need to locate the plugin on your hard drive and put a copy of the file in the plugins folder of Firefox 3.6.
There's a support forum for Portable Apps over here:
    http://portableapps.com/forums/support/firefox_portable
Firefox Portable isn't an official Mozilla product, but does have a close relationship with Mozilla.
Oh, definitely install an older version of NoScript, as you mentioned.

  • How do I connect to one computer to another?

Hi, I had to buy a new computer, with Lion OS last July. Then someone put a new hard drive into my old computer, as SnowLeopard. Every time I do one thing on the SL computer, something else gets lost - & I have to reconfigure stuff. Some things won't let me change some settings either.
My problem is, I've been trying to find out how to connect & "share" the documents, photos, internet, printer, etc. from the Lion to the SL, but none of the 'suggested" helps do that. Our daughter's mac has no problem sharing the internet (we have DSL Wi-Fi). I've tried to copy those to a USB, but instead of just copying the App, the App moved off the sidebar to the USB! AGUH!
I have lots of questions, like:
Is sync to connect to the other computer or only iPhones, iPads, etc.? Can I & how do I do that (sync) to the other computer? Should I do that from the SL or the Lion? I do want to keep the SL on this one (not too thrilled with how Lion is set up).
What exactly is AirPort? Is that how the "wi-fi" connects? & is it different than Earthnet?
Other questions can wait ... &
Thank you & many blessings to anyone who can help me.

Eustace, sorry, but all that seems Greek to me! I am computer savvy, had one since 1991, but this is all new to me. I'm not this new sharing networks savy. We've never had 2 computers! It took me all night after I wrote this, just to connect to our E-mail accounts, & only after I'd written all the Mail data from the Lion on paper!
Don't even (& never will ; } have a cell/iPhone, iPad, etc. (ah, unless my son-in-law gets a new one & passes his old one on here!)  Sad thing is, there's nothing in any "mac helps" on the net or either computer, that shows how to connect the 2, so I can work on 1 while my hubby is working on the other. The 2 computers are in different rooms, so a cable wouldn't do.
    Chapter 2 ;=}
OK, I have a Verizon DSL wi-fi. & I was able to "share" the HD of the other computer, but that won't do if we both need to be on the computers! I did drag over some items, but only a few of the documents come through & I can't figure out why all didn't?
And when I tried to drag my photo's & other apps (Genealogy, widgits, etc.), not only wouldn't they go onto this desktop, they stopped at the edge of the shared one & plopped themselves onto that desktop (?); they also moved off of the sidebar on the shared Lion? Odd, since that doesn't (usually) happen when I'm draging things to an External Drive?
I first tried to put documents & photos, etc, at first, on a ED, but they moved off the sidebar too. (so I came to mac support discussions!) I realize they are still on the HD, but it's a pain-in-a-neck to retrieve.
& By the by, when I put my "Mail" as Earthnet, all disappears! But in "AirPort" it all comes in again.
Today even the "shared" HD doesn't show anywhere, though I never ejected it!
AGUH! "What a mess this is turning out to be, Oli!"
So, are you saying I should move the 2 closer & connect, since I have dozens of Documents & ton's of photos? Problem is, I don't want to turn this into Lion (i'm not fond of most changes they made).
Maybe the problem is; on the SL comuter Finder has all under "Apple" & the Lion is under my name? But, alas again, no mac help's show how to change that either! I'll just have to call my mac-son-in-law (he works on them) to walk me through this.
I'm a step by step kind of gal. Guess my dyslexia is in full gear. If I don't write something down, I forget how to do it, hense I can't remember how I got to share the other HD!!!
& what about this FIrewire - & what is it. Mac's explination is also Greek! & what is "bluetooth" should that be on / activated?
I do appreciate your trying to help. Sorry I'm so dense!

  • Where can I find information about using the Mozilla Help web pages?

Such as tips to make searching the help pages faster like adding symbols + or - or " which some internet search systems use.
There is simply too much information offered for me ( a neurologically disabled person - specifically with working memory difficulties [dyslexia, dyspraxia/DCD] ) and all one can do is write yet another new question - which will probably be a repeat of what has been asked before in a different way and increase the already existing mass of information for the next enquirer to 'wade; through!
The consequence of not knowing where to look for information, is that I just bumble along and never become as proficient using Firefox (and the web and my computer) as might be possible if I had a really good teacher giving personal one to one guidance matching my knowledge gained so far and skill potential.

  • Replacing images used as a link with background image

OK - I'm embarrassed to say that what I'm trying to do is
    blindingly
obvious, and I've used Dw for several years - and do most of
    the work
in code view but I'm having a senior moment and can't do what
    I want.
I've read that when you use images on a page for background
    styling,
for example the logo, or an image of a professional body such
    as IEE,
it is more semantically correct to use CSS background images
    rather
    that a <img src=
    tag
So I have a div in which I put the background, but then
    perhaps quite
logically you can't directly put a link to it. So how do you
    do it.
I've tried to ensure there was a block element so when you
    hover l
mouse over it you get a block link - but no joy.
maybe my dyslexia early is the sign of premature brain fade

You cannot place a link on a background image. However, you
    can place a
link on a transparent image floated over the background.

  • Microsoft Office 2004 Student and Teacher Edition

Hi my dyslexia gets me into trouble and I think my Office appts won't work. I had techs from the computer store install Office but told them not to install Power Point (I think. I had looked for it in Finder and it didn't come up with it. I looked in the application Office folder and I didn't see its icon). I got an email that has a Power Point doc so I installed Power Point off the CD. But in doing that I started the complete install because I didn't notice the words "all applications" and when I read that after I dragged the icon onto my Mac HD, I cancelled the installation part way, dragged that icon into the trash and emptied it. Then I started the the install using the install help and completed the process of just choosing the Power Point. Now all 4 applications do not open and I get no response for Entourage at all when choosing its icon, and a message for Word, Power Point and Excel thats says they cannot load the__ shared libraries. Also in the proess of the guided downloading, I checked for updates and came upon the latest that includes other past updates, and read something about Entourage update problems so I downloaded that update then I noticed later that it was included in the newer update (I never installed this single update and put it in the trash and emptied that). I never updated yet the newer updates for Office because of the problems that just arrived. I cannot open any of these programs or even open any docs. I have hundreds of emails that are in Entourage and I hate to loose them. I need simple to understand help because I have problems with understanding technical words. I am intelligent, but not a techie.

Then I started the the install using the install help and completed the process of just choosing the Power Point.
Which is why Word, Entourage and Excel won't open. They're no longer on the hard drive. Follow these steps.
    1) It's prudent to make a backup of your files first. For Entourage, backup the entire "Main Identity" folder in your user account. You'll find it a few levels deep in the Documents folder. Also any Word and Excel documents you have. Putting copies of them in a new folder on the desktop will do.
    2) Use the Remove Office tool on the installation CD to remove all former traces of Office from the hard drive. This will normally not remove your personal files, but step one will save you from disaster if it does.
    3) Reinstall Office from the CD. Use the "Microsoft AutoUpdate" tool in the Applications folder to apply all updates up to the current version. This will only be installed if you use the selective installation application on the CD.
Entourage should then automatically recognize your database in your user account.

  • Launch Application empty...

    Hi,
    Running Arch Linux 64bit on Acer 8930G 2.27GHz, 4GB DDR2, 160GBSATA and Nvidia GeForce 9700M GT 512MB using KDE 4.8 desktop environment.
When I clicked on a hyperlink via an email mesage the Launch Application popped up and it is empty.
Is that a bug? How do I fix it?

Clicked a hyperlink from what? What kind of hyperlink was it? HTTP, magnet (a la TPB)?
PS: 37 views because "Launch Application empty..." sounds like dyslexia. Some of them could've been caused by you, like for example refreshing the page a few times.
You shouldn't expect help. Not immediate help, anyway. We're all volunteers here. And Arch is a DIY kind of distribution, where users are encouraged to solve their own problems. It's why you see so many solved topics coming from the Arch forums. It implies a certain mindset.

  • Remapped mouse buttons do not work in CS 5?

Remapped mouse button functionality works fine in some programs ( Bridge, Dreamweaver, Soundbooth )
But act non-existant in others ( Photoshop, Illustrator )
My experience is with an Intellimouse optical and intellipoint software ( newest drivers for win 7 )
    Win 7 x86
Anyone have a similar experience with cs5
And/or know of a registry setting?

    I created a
new Windows account and the problem went away
remapped buttons work fine in the new account. Doubt it was preferences as I didn't have time to set any.
What I "DID" do however was to customize my remapped buttons by hacking the intellipoint registry settings.
intellipoint doesn't support spacebar in it's remapping list
if you want MMB panning functionality so u don't suffer navigation dyslexia
when switching between apps ( "most 3D apps" )  the
acsii for space is "20" .
not having to relearn mmb panning muscle memory makes one very productive.
the best UI is your UI
someday there will be  a common objectn/viewport navigation "standard".
( deviation from... punishable by something truly horrible )
Otherwise why can't everything just be customizable?
( can I assign mmb to the"interactive" hand instead of the "hardcoded" spacebar yet? )
    either way...
I hacked my registry once again. Just like before but remapping is still working fine in the new account.
I guess I'll just delete that old account.
