E-72 Contacts Issue

Dears, I upgraded the software of my Nokia E-72 last week. Before upgradation I could search my contacts by company name, but after upgradation it stopped to search contacts by company name. Can anybody please advise what I can do to rectify this issue.
Thanks

  • Email and Contact Issues

My emails are not coming through to my phone unless I manually refresh. I have three accounts setup (Yahoo! and 2 school email accounts). Both school accounts, when I sign on from a computer says something about Outlook: one says Mircosoft outlook and the other says Outlook live.
I contacted my school and got the correct settings for each account. They work because I get the emails as long as I manually refresh. I initially had my phone set to check for mail every hour but after realizing it was not automatically doing this, I set it for every five minutes. That still didn't help.
Out of frustration, I called Verizon who told me they knew nothing about such an issue. They connected me to Samsung who said the same thing. Apparently they were both lying as I have Googled this issue and see that it has been posted since Sept 2010. I just have not noticed a solution (possibly overlooking it).
The solution that they gave me was so a hard reset (didn't work), delete then re-add the accounts (didn't work) or use a workaround. My response to their last suggestion was that I did not feel it was necessary for me to do that when the phone I purchased was supposed to handle email. This has been an issue since I got the phone in Nov 2010 when I switched to VZ. I didn't really notice it until this month because I was having text messaging issues which they didn't fix until this month.
Samsung ended up telling me to send them my phone and they would troubleshoot it but I had to contact VZ about getting a loaner phone as they were going to have it for a week. When I called VZ back, they told me they would just send me a replacement phone and to not send the phone to Samsung because they could have given me a defective phone. The order wasn't placed because their system was down that Friday and the guy was supposed to call me back. He never did so I called VZ a third time.
The tech support rep told me that she was positive that if I got a brand new phone I would still have the same problem because its a known issue that Samsung has yet to fix. Also she had the same phone and also some other people she worked with. She told me to make sure I deleted junk mail, sent stuff, kept the inbox down, and empty the trash and that should help. She was supposed to call me back and see if it helped (which it didn't). She never called back....that was Monday and today is Friday.
Now I'm feeling like they are lying to me because they don't want to replace my device. Then on top of that they told me it would more than likely be a refurbished device instead of a brand new device even though I still have a warranty. Should I push for a new phone or is this really a known issue with Samsung that they have yet to fix? If it is a Samsung issue, what's the workaround until they actually fix it?
By the way, Gmail works almost instantaneously. They told me to forward all of my mail there but that didn't work for my two school accounts. I don't like that anyway.
As for the contact issues, I just noticed two weeks ago that my Facebook and Twitter contacts are unsyncing themselves. I don't have all of my Facebook friends or Twitter followers in my phonebook but those whose phone numbers I have, are linked to their Facebook and or Twitter accounts but I notice that both of these accounts unlink themselves. I have no idea why this happens. I keep having to go back into my phonebook and relink about 30 people to their Facebook and or Twitter profiles. Any idea why?

In your email app, have you tried going into each account, pressing the menu button, account settings, and setting email check frequency to the desired time?
If that's not the issue, then perhaps pressing the menu button at the home screen, going into settings, accounts and sync, and clicking the background data option is the issue.
The reason why Gmail works well is that instead of polling (which is what the email app uses, where it queries the account to see if there's anything new), it pushes your email through meaning that it's virtually instantaneous.
With regards to the Twitter and Facebook issue, try going into the accounts and sync area that I mentioned before.  There, you will be able to set the SNS sync interval and sync the contacts, birthdays, and whatever else it allows.  You'll probably have to click on each of those accounts to check various options before it will autosync.
My frequency is set to every 5 mins. That hasn't worked.
The background data sync option is clicked already.
The Twitter and Facebook SNS syncing is set. I have noticed though that sometimes when I go in there, the sync arrow is red by Twitter and Facebook. I uncheck the box and recheck it and then it turns green again. What I don't know is why it randomly turns red in the first place. I'm assuming this is the reason the Facebook and Twitter stuff unsyncs itself.

  • IPhone 4s with 5.0.1 software - Contacts Issue

I'm new to the iPhone having just been using one for about a week now.  At first everything seemed great, I did a backup assist with my old Droid and downloaded my contact to my iPhone without a problem.  When one of my contacts called or texted me, their name displayed so I could recognize whom I was conversing with.  Then a couple of days later the update to 5.0.1 was pushed and that's when I noticed that my contacts were acting erratic.  The phone was no longer displaying my contacts' names when I received a call, but I would then get the names displayed if they texted.
Well, I setup the iCloud and back up to my iMac contacts and thought eveyting would be great... well the problems persisted and I even had some contact deleted from the phone.
Here is what I'm able to determine so far:
If I enter a number as 1+area code+number, the names displays when getting a call but only the number displays when getting a text
If I enter the number as area code+number, the name displays when getting a text but not when getting a call
There are no ( ) or - symbols on the iPhone when entering contacts, so I can't try that
I have tried different combinations by using my iMac and updating the contact with ( ) and - combinations but nothing seems to work
While the phone works, this is an annoying problem for me, as I often don't remember the numbers and don't recognize the caller or the texter.  Also, having contacts disappears (only some), seems to be and issue.
Anyone else experiecing this?  Hope someone has an easy solution.
    Thanks very much.

I found the asnwer here at the site... did the software updgrade through Verizon (*228, then 1) and it fixed my problem.

  • Solution to the Outlook '03 Calendar & Contact Issue's (Windows Only)

This solution refers to the problems with syncing Outlook 2003 (contacts & calendar) with the 5th generation Ipod for Windows(30Gb or 80gb).
In Outlook 2003 your contacts (in order to be synced with Itunes) must be listed in the default contact file for Itunes to sync them. If there are no contacts listed in this default file, the IPOD wont sync anything. You need to make a copy of your address book & import it into the default contact file. To copy/export the address book do the following:
(NOTE: The default contact file will read contacts under the my contacts)
    1. Select your address book, it should have contacts listed.
    2. Select File_import & export, then export to a file
    3. Select Personal File Folder (*.pst)
    4. Again find the contact book with your contacts listed in Outlook. These are the files that you want to copy.
    5. Select allow duplicate items to be created.
    6. Change the location for "save exported to a file". I recommend saving the file to the desktop so that you can find it.
    7. Once you successfully exported the items, now go to the default contact folder in Outlook and select File _ import. Import the *.pst file that you just copied.
Once the files are imported sync your IPOD & make sure that Itunes is configured to import Outlook not windows address book. This should sync all of your contact with your IPOD.
This resolved my issue's. Let me know if you have any problems.
    Apple Software: Itunes 7.0.2.16
    IPOD: 30Gb IPOD
    Outlook 2003, Windows XP SP2

Thanks, but I am still unsuccessful. Here is what happened:
+1. All of your .pst files will be located in C:\documents and settings\"user name"\exchange...this file may be hidden so to unhide it you will have to go into tools\folder options\view and select the show hidden files.+
    *I found the file.*
+2. To create your new .pst file in Outlook 2003...Open Outlook, click on tools and select email accounts. This will open a new window with four choices. Select "View or change existing e-mail accounts" The Default Microsoft Exchange Server should be highlighted and then down in the lower box it should show Mailbox - "user name"; select new outlook data file; highlight office outlook personal file (.pst) and hit ok. Rename the file if you desire and hit ok. Select finish, close outlook and restart. You should now see that folder in your window.+
*Yes, I have a new folder with no calendar, mailbox, etc. in it; just a deleted items folder and a search folder. This is in addition to my mailbox, which still opens with the calendar I am trying to sync under it*
+3. Close outlook, open iTunes and then open outlook again. In your settings of iTune open up the settings and change the Auto Sync function under iPhone tab to not sync automatically (i dont have it here at work so cant give word for word discription). Plug in the iPhone and it should not sync. go to the first tab and check mark the options that you want to sync using outlook.+
*Did that, still got error; I am clearly missing something in step 3 - my Outlook opens with the same stuff it always has, just an extra PST with 2 items under it - Deleted Items and Search...help!*

  • Outlook Contacts Issue after Edited on iPhone

When I edit a contact (or add a new contact) on my iPhone, it appears with all information in my Outlook "Contacts" folder. This is good.

  • Z10 Contacts Issue

    Hi there,
I have a new Z10. And I try to import my contacts from the old 9800, but keeps failed.
    Is there any suggestions?
Thanks so much for you help.

    Hello overspeed,
Sorry to hear about your issue.
On your BlackBerry Torch 9800 were your contacts synced wirelessly or did you manually sync with Outlook or manually enter the contacts?

  • Synchronisation contacts issue

Good evening, i use Nokia smartphone for a long time (E61...) ans i have a synchro problem with my new E6-00 and Windows Live Mail (on netbook Samsung Windows 7 Starter) through Nokia Suite 3.2.100. Uselly, the syncho is native and in this configuration my contacts WLM and the phone were not synchronized.
I selected properly in Synchro/Options to have the sync with Contacts Windows but i do not have the choice of mail software (screen shot in attachement)
I found an alternative as export Contacts in WLM and import it in the directory. but this not a correct solution. How can I sove it ?
    thanks for you help
    best regards

I consulted Microsoft forum and it seems that now with Win 7 / Windows Live Mail, there are 2 contacts database (Contacts Windows and the one in WLM). Can someone confirm that Nokia Suite can only use Contacts Windows ?
Yhe only possibility is to export/import between the 2 DB
    Thanks in advance
If yes, it is a total regression (working perferctly between outlook express and PC Suite) and I do not know whether it is Nokia or Microsoft responsibility but to be clear it is a shame. Especially with the agreements on smatphone between the 2 and that this issue is pending from 2 years.
I think I will send back the phone and choose other product more efficient. What a disapointment and to finish i do not think Nokia will catch customer lost with such choice or development competencies.

  • Need help with Gmail Contact issue

First I'm loving the phone! It's a great device and was a great decision to get. I haven't noticed any issues with the phone until today. When I purchased the phone on 3/22/13 everything synced up perfect. All my calendar entries and contacts sync from Gmail and has been fine since today. I got a log in error for my email and calendar this morning and I had an issue logging back in. So I removed the account and set it back up. Now all my contacts on my Gmail account are missing online. The contacts are still on my phone but not associated with my Gmail account. I went through most of them and some are associated with facebook, twitter and linkedin.
Not sure how but that's not my issue. I will try to figure that out later. What I want is, if there's a way to transfer them back to my Gmail account?
Again I have all the contacts and really don't want to manually enter them back into the phone.
    Any help will be grateful!

From my own experience I had issues with Gmail. Later on I found out other people also had issues. These were with syncing.
What may have happened is your Gmail account setup may have received the indication that you remotely deleted the contacts.
As for myself, I found I had best results with Hotmail for syncing the contacts and etc.

  • Contacts issues - send contacts to at&t phone book or sim card? and un able to unsync email contact list with phone contact list

I have had several issues with my contacts on this phone. I cannot figure out how to send my contacts to the at&t phone book or to my sim card. The options/menu button in contacts is completely useless. It should give me the option on the sim card to transfer contacts form one list to another. I have already written on another forum about the contact list not letting me unsync one of my email contact lists and how I have 3 copies of all of my contacts because my email contacts are mixed in with my phone contacts.
BB really needs to fix this issue with the contact list because it is beyond frustrating. I even downloaded the new BB software today and it still hasn't been fixed.

OK...so this post is strictly about wanting to send your contacts to the SIM. That capability is one at a time only. And there's a reason for that.
The BB Address Book is robust, allowing you to have one name with multiple phone numbers and addresses. The SIM phonebook, on the other hand, is much less capable...if, for instance, you have one contact with three phone numbers in your BB Address Book, the SIM phonebook would require three separate entries to contain the same data (with the obvious duplication of the name on three separate records).
So, I must ask...why on earth do you want to send your contacts to your SIM? There are much better methods for moving your contacts from the BB to somewhere else...

  • Iphone 4 - contact issues; possible virus?

My iphone has been acting odd for a few months now - with a variety of issues around my contacts.
Background: I have an iMac, macbook, iphone, ipad that share address book through icloud.
I first noticed that I wouldn't have a current phone number for someone when I thought I had just updated them. But I wrote this off to maybe I thought I had put in into my address book or phone but didn't. But it keeps happening and I know I've updated people.
Then I noticed a friends' contact information was deleted. I entered all his information again and again noticed his card got deleted again. This happend 3 or 4 times before it's kept him in the mix.
The other day I updated a co-workers' mobile number because the one I dialed was incorrect and when he called me back the iphone said "Jeff or Gina calling" I looked at both contacts and she had the same mobile number as Jeff. (and she doesn't) So I erased her mobile number from her address card to fix the problem and now don't have her current information.
The other day I sent text to a freelancer with last name Young and a different freelancer answered me.... now his last name is Young as well but they have different first names and mobile numbers so I can't explain that one.
Also another freelancer had my company logo attached as her photo in my address book so when she sends me an email it includes my logo from her email.
My business runs on me working with hundreds of freelancers so my address book is critical to my career success.
I've never had an issue with my contacts in the past - these bugs started in the spring and initially I was told by genius bar that I need to switch to icloud and it would be fine. But the problem is getting worse.
Is this a virus? Is anyone else having similar problems? What's the answer?
    Please help. Thank you.

Should read 'It[ the phone ] was selecting E since I had 3G turned off' sorry about typo.

  • Microsoft Exchange 2010 / Office Pro 2013 - Contact Issues

    Good Morning Everyone.
We are running MS Exchange 2010 and have recently upgraded all our clients to MS Office 2013 Pro from Office 2007.
We've had problems with people being able to access previously accessible share folders etc. but we've managed to resolve them. What we are having problems with are peoples personal contacts....
Within Outlook If we click "New Email", then we click "To", choose address book and select "Contacts" (Personal contacts) we receive the error:
"The Address list cannot be displayed. The contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions. For information on how to remove this folder from
the outlook address book, see Microsoft Outlook Help"
The unusual thing is, if we go to the people tabs at the bottom (Mail, Calender, People etc") Then we can access the address book without issue?
Any help would be appreciated, this problem is on every single client...
    Regards
    Steve Skingle

    Hi,
Please make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book in Outlook. We can check this by right-clicking on the personal contact folder, select
Properties, then Outlook Address Book tab.
Check if the “Show this folder as an email Address Book” option is ticked. If not, tick it and restart Outlook to check the result.
Please let me know the result.

  • Blackberry Q10 Contacts Issues

We are having some issues with the Blackberry Q10 contacts and how it merges contacts together.
All of the contacts needed in the phone are stored in an Exchange account. When we added the Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts, it added contacts from those accounts as well into the contact list. We do not need these contacts to be synced, but I didn’t see a way to add the accounts without having the contacts sync with the phone. The major problem we are having is that the phone is merging contacts of seemingly random people. It would merge people together with completely different names with seemingly no reason to merge together. This leads to various issues like the wrong picture showing up and the wrong name showing up while making and receiving calls.
In addition to wanting help with resolving this issue, I have a few relevant questions.
    1)      Is there any way to Unlink all of the contacts so we can quickly resolve the issue of random people being merged together?
    2)      Is there any way to have Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts on the phone but without having their contacts/connections synced into the phone’s contact list?
    Thanks

As stated you can unlink them one by one. You can also remove Facebook, Twitter etc contacts from the phone book list. By swipping down from the top of the screen, then select settings. There you will see, show accounts in contact list. You can select off to remove Facebook, Twitter etc.
However if you have a contact in your phone book who is also one of your Facebook, Twitter etc etc friends, those contacts details will be linked together and as stated, you'll have to unlink them one by one.
