E_ADEPT_REQUEST_EXPIRED

I previously owned a Sony PRS700 which was damaged and didn't want to pay big bucks to replace.  I purchased a new reader by Aluratek, purchased 5 new ebooks from Ebooks.com (in pdf format). I tried to download and got the above noted error.  Contacted Digital Editions support and was advised to uninstall Digital Editions, restart my PC, create a new Adobe account with a new email address, download Digital Editions again and reinstall it.  I did this and again tried to download my new books and got the same noted error.  Now I have 150 books in my Sony Library that I don't know how to read on my new device and 5 new books I can't read on my new device.  Any suggestions?   Thx.   Kim

Do you have a case number for your support case, because they gave you really bad advice.
E_ADEPT_REQUEST_EXPIRED happens because the time or timezone  is off on your computer, see http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/403/kb403936.html for details.

  • Error Code "E_ADEPT_REQUEST_EXPIRED" when authorizing

I am trying to help someone use ADE 2.0.1 for library books.  The first time we installed the program and tried to authorize the computer with their Adobe ID and password, it returned the "E_ADEPT_REQUEST_EXPIRED" error code.
Seeing the cause of this problem in other forums, I checked the date/time/zone on the computer, which is running WIndows 7.  It was set to the incorrect time zone, so we reset to the proper time zone, restarted the computer, and then readjusted the time to be correct.
Unfortunately, this did not resolve the issue, and further attempts to authorize the computer returned the same "E_ADEPT_REQUEST_EXPIRED" error code; uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe ADE 2.0.1 after fixing the time zone and time resulted in the same error code upon attempts to authorize.  Changing the password at adobe.com did not work either.
I am unsure of what to do at this point--everything I've read says the "E_ADEPT_REQUEST_EXPIRED" error code means you need to fix the date/time/zone on the computer, which we have done.  After multiple restarts and reinstallations, why are we still getting this same error message, and what can we do to properly authorize ADE with an Adobe ID?
    Help much appreciated.

I tried removing the authorization using ctrl-shift-D, but that didn't work either.
Do you mean it didn't deauthorize, or that after deauthorizing you still couldn't authorize?
If the first, you must be in Library view for it to work.
Would you recommend installing an older version of the software?
Yes, I'd certainly give it a try ~ you may have seen in other posts I often suggest it.
I hope it works for you in this case ....
Just in case you haven't seen the download details ...

There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1).  Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically.
It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.
Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library.

That sometimes happens if you get time zone errors. n Check the time zone and time settings on your computer and on any eReader device (if you have one).
    Is this
on the initial download of .acsm file from Library?
on opening .acsm file in ADE and trying to download .epub file
on transferring file to an eReader?

Les réponses suivantes semblent renvoyer à : Set the time using the "Automatically synchronize with Internet time server"
soit : régler l'horloge de votre poste pour se synchroniser automatiquement au serveur internet.
Je n'ai pas de pc pour tester directement, mais les autres utilisateurs des forums US semblent avoir résolu leur problème.

I keep getting this message :

  • SOLVED! E_ADEPT_REQUEST_EXPIRED - if you're on a mac, anyway....

i did a lot of research. if you get that annoying message when you tried to activate, try this:  (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2538)
    Symptoms
Mac OS X may display the incorrect time when "Set date & time automatically" is enabled in the Date & Time pane of System Preferences, after using Setup Assistant or Migration Assistant to migrate time zone settings from another Mac.
The analog clock shown in the Date & Pane of System Preferences may temporarily display the correct time after selecting the correct time zone, but the time zone selected will not be retained after quitting System Preferences.
    Products Affected
    Mac OS X 10.5
    Resolution
       1. If the Date & Time preferences window is open, close it.
       2. From the Go menu choose Go to Folder.
       3. Type or paste the following location, then click Go.
          /private/etc/
       4. Delete the folder named "localtime".
       5. Enter your admin password if prompted.
       6. Select the correct time zone in the Time Zone tab of Date & Time preferences.
    Additional Information
When no time zone is selected, the time displayed in Mac OS X will be in Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), except for the World Clock widget in Dashboard which will display the correct time for the city shown on the widget.
it worked for me, and this bloody program has now been activated. hope it helps someone else!
frankly, if my local library didn't FORCE its users to have this program in order to get out ebooks, i would have given up. this a stupid problem.

    How about another two cents?
I know squat about a Mac, so I can't comment on how to set the time and
date.  I can comment, however, on ADE.
Putting it into perspective, Adobe got into the digital publishing arena
early, with its Portable Document Format.  As the industry developed, the
industry formulated specifications for an 'electronic publishing' format,
and Adobe created the .epub file format to those specifications.  As the
industry developed, Adobe developed software that implemented digital
rights to publications (DRM) via its Content Server software.  So, Adobe is
part of the landscape for digital publications.
Libraries, publishers, authors and distributors all use software that
implements the Adobe framework to distribute ebooks.  You don't HAVE to use
Adobe Digital Editions to interface with your local library, but you do
have to use software that utilizes the Adobe framework.  You could use
Calibre, Bluefire Reader or Overdrive, which is probably the program the
library uses.  All of these will work.
To be fair, Digital Editions is intended to simplify the process (you be
the judge) and let an individual interface with external ebook sources AND
manage a library of ebooks. Most users in the Windows world have few if any
problems with it.  And the Mac version works well also - IF you get your
    computer's settings squared away....

  • Help needed with e_adept_request_expired error message

I am trying to open my first ACSM ebook, and keep on getting this error message. I am using a standard PC laptop running Microsoft Office and the likes, not Nook or an e-reader. I had no problems setting up Adobe Digital Edition and registering my laptop with Adobe. That seems to work fine.
However, I cannot open the one ACSM book I bought as I keep getting this request expired message.  I am utterly baffled by the 'check your Time zone' solution. I am based in the UK, bought the ACSM on a UK website to read on my laptop. Am I meant to set my time zone to that of Adobe in the US? Should it be the same as that of the website I bought the book from?? How do I know what. or rather whose, time zone I should be on? I am after all in the correct time zone for where I live!
My internet time settings are set to  synchronise with 'time.windows.com'. I really really do not know what to do. I have re-synchronised the time, deleted then redownloaded the file, nothing will work. It has been three days now, and I still can't open the book.

The ebook store you bought it from may use invalid/ outdated certificates. Check their knowledge base or contact their support.

  • Trying to set up ereader for library books but unable to authorise computer.

I am trying to set up a Kobo Aura ereader to borrow and read library books. I have verified my Adobe ID. Each time I try (I installed, uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Digital Editions) I am unable to authorise my Windows 7 computer. I get the following error message.
         Activation Server error  code:e_adept_request_expired http://adeactivate.adobe.com/adept/activate 2014-11-08T15:38:27-08:00%20(1415489907000)%2015%before%202014-11-08T16:07:07-08:00%20(14 15491627736)
I am going crazy setting up this ereader. Please help me!

Let's try this first.  Press the wireless button on the front of the printer and execute a "Restore Defaults".
Next, restart the router by pulling its power plug momentarily, then try the WPS procedure again.  If that does not work, contact your ISP to see if the WPS button is functional.
If it is not, let me know and I can walk you through a much harder, but effective technique.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.
