Do these ebay issues still appear if you use a different browser, such as Firefox?

  • Satellite P200-1EE Can I install a 2nd hard disk in the spare bay?

    First of all, hi everyone!
I have the above model laptop, and it has a spare disk bay. There are pin connectors at one end, but it does not seem like the drive will fit. It's like there is a component missing - like the connector slot housing for the 1st drive. I have bought a 500GB drive, and have tried seeing whether it would fit. The 1st drive has a metal caddy attached, and that did not work either.
Is it possible to fit a 2nd drive to this model? If so, what would I need to do it?
    Thanks!
    Andy

    Hi
If you have a connector in second HDD bay you can add a second HDD. But you will need such a metal caddy as on the first HDD. Therefore you can contact an authorized service provider because you can get all spare parts from them.
On the Toshiba website is a list of all ASPs, check this!!!

  • Boot Camp on MBP internal drive (disk1), attempts to boot off CD bay drive (disk0).

Hi. I have an early 2011 MBP running the latest version of Mavericks with two internal SSDs. The HD bay has a 1TB (disk1) and the CD bay has a 512MB (disk0). Boot Camp is installed on the 1TB. When I boot up the system and hold down the Option key, I see Windows as a boot option. If I select it, however, it starts to boot and then goes immediately to a black screen with a white underline cursor blinking in the upper left. It remains like this until I reboot.
After spending a lot of time looking into the cause of this problem, I've come to the conclusion that the system is confused by the drive in the CD bay and is attempting to boot from it before it attempts to boot off the drive in the HD bay. I installed Boot Camp originally by using Boot Camp Assistant to partition the drive and then using WinClone to copy over a previous Boot Camp partition. I'm pretty rusre that as a result, one of the following two things is happening:
Whatever setting Boot Camp Assistant made to tell the Windows install DVD to boot first is still in effect and Boot Camp is attempting to boot from the CD bay.
The Boot Camp partition is set from the previous drive it was on to boot from disk0, which is now being assigned to the drive in the CD bay.
To test these theories, I've unplugged the drive in the CD bay and rebooted, at which point Boot Camp boots perfectly off the drive in the HD bay.
The drive in the CD bay is set to a single HFS+ partition. I've looked at the GPT and MBR on both drives and they seem fine (the Boot Camp partition is bootable). Does anyone have any idea what I'm missing here?
    Thanks in advance.
    Craig

Still having issues, any suggestions would probably be helpful.

  • Mid 2007 iMac SSD in optical bay - cannot write to last block of device

    Hi All,
I've just replaced my optical drive in my 20" mid 2007 iMac (Dual core, 2.4 Ghz, 2 Gb RAM running Mavericks) with a solid state drive (Crucial MX100). The plan is to transfer my boot disk to this drive while keeping my 1 Tb HDD for media and such.
I followed the ifixit guide and it all went smoothly, however when I try to partition or erase the new SSD using Disk Utility, it tells me "Operation failed - cannot write to last block of the device". After googling, I found some answers here that suggested the optical bay cable may be faulty, so I bought a replacement and swapped it in, but no such luck, same problem. I also saw some threads suggesting that the boot disk should be in the original hard drive spot, but since this isn't the boot disk (yet) this shouldn't be the issue.
My computer recognizes the new SSD but won't allow me to partition it. Any suggestions on how to proceed?
    Thanks!

    3. The new disk is just bad.
OK. If that's the case, I'll just get another disk.
Lots of problems with that hybrid drives on Mac's on these forums, get another one that's 7,200 RPM and from Western Digital, not Seagate.
With a 7,200 RPM you get more performance across the entire drive, not just what's cached in the small flash portion of the hybrid.

    1. Hybrid drives: I'm on number 8 in 6 different machines, no problems at all, what happens when you try?
    2. The OP is not using a Hybrid.
    3. Lot's of problems with WD drives not booting on these forums though.

  • Which HDD in Optical Bay of 15" Mid-2009 MBP?

    Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone can help me decide the best drive to install in the opti bay of my mid 2009 15" macbook pro (2.8 intel core 2 duo).
I recently upgraded to 8gb ram and switched out the original drive to a Samsund SDD and the results have been AWESOME (**see below if considering)! I'd now like to install a 1TB hard drive into the opti bay.
Does anyone have an opinion on the following:
    1) What's the best drive for this?
    2) Will I get the 3.0gb transfer rate if I get a SATA II drive?  (I currently get 3.0gb rate with the SSD in the main bay.)
    3) Will the sound be unbearable?
    4) Will it overheat or make the fans perpetually run? (I had fan issues previously that were mostly solved with the upgrade, though they do still run often...any suggestions to solve this are also welcome.)
    5) Any suggestions on an optical bay adapter?  I've seen quite the gamut on Amazon.
I plan on using the 1TB opti-bay drive for storing all of my music, movies, documents, photos, etc.  All apps/programs will be on the SDD.
Thanks in advance for any help!
**Side note for anyone considering a SDD+RAM update, I HIGHLY recommend it. It's truly like using a new machine!  I use a 2012 retina MBP (2.3 intel core i7, SSD, 8g RAM) at work and the difference in speeds are marginal (though I do wish I got the same battery life).  Highly recommend the upgrade for anyone interested! Parts below:
    SSD - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E3W19MO/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&p sc=1
    RAM - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008LTBJFM/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&p sc=1

Yes, your MacBook will run hotter and the fans will kick in more often. Only you can decide if it is acceptable.
I suggest you can start by using the drive that you removed from your MBP and see if the heat & noise are within tolerable limits.
Mechanical hard drives will not max out the sata interface. You can expect 80-100 MB/s with a mechanical hard drive.
Most users recommend the OWC Datadoubler caddy for the optical bay available here.
    Good luck.

  • Hard drive not recognized in HDD bay.

Randomly, my laptop gave me the spinny pinwheel of death when I opened it, and upon restart, I got the good old folder with a "?" indicating there was no OS. Naturally, I booted up in network recovery, and low and behold, my SSD was not in the Disk utility list. I made an adjustment some time ago where I removed my optical drive, and installed the old HDD that came with the computer in it's place. I switched the drives, so that the SSD was where the optical drive should be, and the HDD in the drive bay. Upon startup, the computer booted up as usual from the SSD, and the HDD was not recognized. So from there I conlcuded that both the SSD and HDD are working correctly without failure. After putting the drives back where they originally were (HHD in optical bay, and SSD in Drive bay), and I booted up holding the option key, The SSD and recovery drive were there, but I received a prohibited sign (circle with slash) after a minute. Now it is not recognizing the drive again. I'm not sure whats going on, anyone hav any input?
    Thanks

You have a faulty hard drive to logic board cable. Replace that and you should be fine and the drive put in the main bay should show up.

  • Mac Pro 2.66 drives in bay 2 and 3 display

I have 3 drives in my Mac Pro
bay 1 main drive OS 10.9.5
    bay 2 ALL my files
bay 3 second set of files
bays 2 and 3 take a lot of time to display on the desktop
    bay 1 - 3 minutes
bays 2 and 3 displays after about 5 to 6 minutes
when I try t open either drives in bay2 or 3
spinning ball and have to cold quit
tried switching drives around in bays same thing
possible BOTH drives are starting to go?
    RD

I now see I switched bays again and the drives came right up, but clicking in and accessing gave me the spinning ball so I cold rebooted and clicked in again and after about 2 minutes the drive contents displayed. At that moment I was going to back up with CCC I got a msg that the disk I'm trying to copy has errors, so I'm waiting for disk utility to finish and hopefully correct.
I'm gonna need another drive, the drive giving me trouble is a Seagate, it's not the boot drive mind you it's the drive with all my files and never had problems with these drives before, should I get another Seagate?
    anybody?
As I have to do this today.

  • Setting Up New FCP5 HD Bay -- Need Help

I'm setting up an HD edit bay for a friend, and I have a number of questions. Any help would be a godsend.
Basically, he's got a G5 with Final Cut Studio installed, a Motu audio interface, a Mackie Mixer, a Decklink Pro HD dual link, M-audio LX4 5.1 speakers, and a DVD/VHS recorder. He has one 250G internal capture drive, and one external 1TB firewire G-Raid. He's running a 23" and 20" Cinema Displays, and a Panasonic 32" HD LCD Flatscreen.
He wants to rent decks per project for capture and output.
My questions is this, how do we output to SD VHS/DVD or other formats for clients? Do we need a Switcher? Is it possible to do format conversion in Final Cut and output via Firewire instead of decklink to SD devices?
Also, is SDI (serial digital interface) cross-platform from SD to HD? Kramer Electonics has an interesting format converter that supports SDI, but will that change HD to SD? Here is a model number and link. FC-7402
    http://www.kramerelectronics.com/indexes/item.asp?pic=71
Kramer also has a firewire format converter that looks interesting. FC-20

One of the Mac Vendors suggested the Blackmagic Multibridge Extreme, which sounds perfect, but costs $2000 - 3000.
I'm looking for a low cost alternative, if possible.
I really need help from someone experienced with this. I'm a freelance editor who cuts offline mostly on Avid for episodic TV, but my friend master HD out of his Mac edit suite. This is new territory for me.
    Thanks in advance.

You should setup your local DNS to resolve only for the 'film.lab.' domain. Any requests that your local DNS will not be authoritative for should be forwarded to your district's DNS server. You should also set your local DNS to allow recursion only for clients on the 10.x.x.x subnet. The failure of clients configured to use your DNS for name resolution could be due to rules that have bee setup on your district's edge router to block outbound and inbound port 53 requests for all internal clients.
If you set your server and clients to use your district's DNS server as the secondary for your zone, you must make certain that any hostnames within your local zone are defined on your district's DNS to resolve to the private, 10.x.x.x, subnet that you will be running your systems on. If you don't -and your DNS goes down and there is no secondary defined on the clients that contains the zone info for your subnet- your clients won't be able to find any hosts. If you wish to run services that will be accessible from the Internet on your local server, this may require your network admins to make changes to routing to allow those request to be pass from the public network to the private one.
Also, if your district runs a central DHCP server you will need your district network admins to setup their DHCP server to return the correct client settings for your DNS and search domains for the clients within your subnet. If they do run a central DHCP server, do not attempt to set up a local one for your subnet. If you do, the probability that you will receive a very angry phone call from a not so happy fellow at your district is very high.

  • Video drivers issue (dual DVI monitors off bay :: one black and white and one color)

    Hello,
I have tried everything to try to make these two monitors color. They are both relatively new Dell monitors. Both are DVI, both are connected to the latest Lenovo bay for my T430 laptop. Both worked fine after I initially installed both video drivers (Intel HD Graphics Driver for Windows 7 [64-bit]) and NVIDIA Optimus Display Driver for Windows 7 [64-bit]). Then out of nowhere one of them (Dell 1) decides it wants to be seen in black and white! I initially thought it was the monitor itself, but when swapping monitors (Dell 1, Dell 2) the other monitor  (Dell 2) went black and white when plugged into the DVI formerly used by the Dell 1 monitor. Ok, so now it must be the DVI ports on the bay station (Lenovo) right? Nope. I had a tech bring me a second, brand new bay (identical). Same issue! So this leads me to the video drivers...
Does anyone have any idea. I disabled each driver and reenabled each to no avail. The drivers are the latest drivers downloaded directly from Lenovo's site. Checked the driver settings/monitor setting using both Windows 7 Professional and Nvidia to see if anything stood out. Nothing.
Any help would certainly be appreciated. Thank you in advance! :~)

I got a new laptop and when I plugged it into my docking station the external monitors were all in black & white.  My old computer still worked fine without changing any settings on the monitors.  I found that I needed to go into Control Panel \ NVidia Control Panel \ Display \ Adjust Desktop Color Settings, then select the monitor I wanted to adjust, then set the slider up for Digital Vibrance.  For some reason on the new laptop the NVidia settings defaulted to 0 for this.

  • I give up. Have had a problem with HD Bay 4, and can't solve it

I have had my Mac Pro for a year, through Tiger and now Leopard, and it has been a great machine... except. From the night I un-boxed it, it has refused to run a drive in bay 4. it partitions fine, looks fine, and then when copying something (say a 10G folder), it starts fine for about 500meg, estimates about 10 min. All OK. But then it slows down, never gets past about 1 G, and the highest time estimate I have seen is 80 hours, The drive in bay 3 is not affected, though the machine is noticeably slower whenever moving from one drive to another is involved. Removing the drive restores all to normal. But the drive is semi permanently damaged, in that it has something written on it that is very hard to fix. I have been most successful converting it to USB. This has happened over at least 10 drives ( I have lots of spares from old legal work, all SATA 2). I have let this go for this long because I have Apple care, and I didn't need the space. But as I am winding down my working career, and pursuing my photography hobby more, this space is now an issue. I have been reading of "resetting", but nothing I have tried has worked as described, except for the PRAM, which did help another small problem. Before I call Apple care, do any of you have any suggestions? I just hate to send the machine for service if it is something that can be 'reset with something I don't know about. By the way, I used a little adapter to hook up SATA's 5 and 6, and they act the same. So in effect. 1 and 2 are normal, and 3 is ok if there is no 4. Go figure.
Thanks in advance for any consideration, Art Colley in Baton Rouge.

Really sorry for the long paragraph, not my usual way, but hopefully it really doesn't matter, does it?
I have tried service, but my recently opened Mac store will not give me an appointment because they are booked up forever, and they will not allow me to talk to anyone. Didn't tell that part, because it was pretty shoddy, I thought, and really didn't help. Calling Apple care is next on the agenda.
I waited otherwise for the reasons i described, and because I knew I had plenty of coverage.
But your comment, about the SMC button was helpful, if I knew what that was.
As to the specifics, Bays 1 and 2 form a RAID0, currently with 2 500 GB WD's, but that has not always been the case. I have tried non RAID configs just in case, and posted on this forum several times last summer.
All of the drives have been moved around a lot, and all that have been in Bay 4 have had the issue. Currently there is a "rescued" Seagate 750 in Bay 3. Nothing in Bay4.
I also agree about the external drives, using currently 2 eSATA with a PCIe controller, both Seagate, 1TB and 1 750. Also 1 500 WD my book on FW800, and one Seagate 750 on USB.
Then the drives that I would love to use somewhere if I can solve this issue, as I look at them now, and: Seagate 320, originally came with the machine (3), Maxtor 120G (2) from other machines,Seagate 160G (3) from other machines, and a Samsung 160 from my HP workstation.
Except for when they are in the RAID array (and don't report SMART), all of these drives report fine in DU, including SMART, as long as they are not in Bay 4, or in the bay6 (5 and 6 are both Intel SATA controllers, listed in "about this Mac, but hidden on the motherboard). In bay 4 and 6 they report just fine until they are used the first time.
All have been thoroughly prepped before use, as described, and as I said once one is "contaminated" by bay4, I usually have to do it with a temporary USB connection before going back to the SATA hookup. In SATA they will neither erase, nor partition, nor repair and verify.
So that's the long and short of it.
Please tell me more about the SMC button you refer to. I assume this discussion board is the best place to learn about such items, and I thank you for your advise and help. Just remember, I do not know what you know, or I wouldn't be asking. Even some of the abbreviations, though familiar, escape me.
Hope you find this more helpful, because I really do need help, and I have confidence in these discussion forums, having used them in several other fields (both as the helper and the helpee!).
Regards, Art Colley in Baton Rouge.

  • SSD in Optical Bay is not working in a Macbook Pro 15" 2012.

Can anyone tell me what can be the problem ? At the beginning I could use the SSD from the Optical Bay to read but not to write. Also was impossible to unmount it. I finally wiped it out with the OCZ TOOLBOX and I updated the firmware, but after that was impossible to create any partition. I removed the SSD form the Optical Bay and I moved it back in the 1st bay. Everything is working fine when is connected in the 1st bay. I finally formated the SSD and I put it back in the optical bay, but I still have the same issue, I can't unmount it or format it and I can only read from the SSD. Have in mind that my OS is running from a different SSD.What can I do with it ?
    Many thanks.

MacBook Pro  / Mozilla Firefox / Netflix / Silverlight Update solved - DON'T DWNLOAD FROM NETFLIX
I solved this problem tonight. I have a MacBook Pro with 10.5.8. I know, it's old. But I love my Netflix and I recently noticed that Firefox plays Netflix much better.  Then I suddenly got this message that I needed to download the latest Silverlight - it only takes 30 seconds! - WRONG.   However, after much searching, I finally did the steps in order and it worked.
This was after repeatedly downloading Silverlight from the Netflix site without success.  So here's what I did:
    1. Went to http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx
    2. Followed the directions. I felt like such an idiot for not doing it right before.
    3. Go to your hard drive and search for "Silverlight" to locate ANY existing Silverlight files: .dmg, etc.
[also check your Libary/ Internet Plug-ins, but the above search is faster]
    4. Drag it all to the trash and empty it.
    5. Go back to the Get  Silverlight page and click on the Install on that page, not the Netflix site.
    6. Note the steps for Safari or Mozilla Firefox - I wanted Firefox, so I follwed those instructions.
    7. Once it's installed, close all the browsers and Restart that bad boy. Right away.
    8. Open a browser, go to Netflix and proceed to joyfully rot your brain with Netflix content. Yay!

  • How do I move Macintosh HD drive from drive bay 4 to another drive bay

I have a drive in each bay.  One of the drives is being removed.  I'll have an open drive bay.  I Can't remember how Macintosh HD got in drive bay 4, but it's there.  If I move Macintosh HD from drive bay 4 to drive bay 1, will the Mac recognize it when I restart the computer?

Why move it to begin with? yes it will immediately boot from it. yes you can insure it will. there is no difference in where - maybe good idea to clone the system, have a bootable clone copy, maybe the time is right for a $100 120GB SSD now.

  • I have just installed a 2 tera drive  in additional drive bay I would like to use it as my starup  or primary drive. Help... I need to transfer data...

I have installed a 2 tera bit drive in second drive bay. The starup drive is small. How do I transfer data and make new drive the startup or primary drive.. Thanks. In addition I will be pulling the small drive and installing a new larger drive a s back up. Also I need to initalize the new drive.. Wow.. O.K. I know that you are out there and can guide me. Merry Christmas to you all.. Many Thanks   Dennis

I suggest you download either CCC or SuperDuper.
Then clone the current system disk to the new system disk.
Reboot from the new disk after the clone is complete.
If everything is running correctly, you can then erase the old system disk.
