E-Commerce Extensions

Looking for some help and advice please.
Thinking of changing our online shop around and see there are a number of extensions available for Dreamweaver. Can anyone recommend one they have used that was particularly successful and easy to use and set up with UK processing banks (particularly the HSBC).
I know this is a bit general, but I'm hoping to generate a good debate on the merits of a few extensions so that we can look at the pros/cons of actual user experience rather than the sales pitch of the companies who developed them.
Thanks in advance......... DK

Hi Don,
At first I thought Kath was referring to my links to Project Seven and WebAssist extensions. But then I realized that in the original post there were links that would fit the category of Commercial Advertising. So I assume that's what Kath might have been referring to.
I agree that we need to be able to provide links to companies that we use and recommend. I'm not an affiliate of either of those companies, although I probably should sign up with Project Seven since I like their product. :-)

  • Hosting type-Ecommerce with paypal extension

    If I create a website with paypal e-commerce extension cart, does my client still need the ecommerce type of hosting to ensure security?

    Hi Chris,
    I think that the easiest way to do ecommerce sites these days is with CMS (content management systems) like Joomla, Wordpress, Drupal or OS commerce.
    My preference is Joomla some info in my experience here:
    http://www.anonsolutions.com/Joomla-Web-Designer-Canada.html
    A Joomla site will do all the ecommerce stuff automatically.
    You can even design the site in Dreamweaver (free Joomla extensions exist) and either you can convert it to Joomla yourself or I can do it for your client.

  • Can you make a e-commerce website using dreamweaver?

    can you make a e-commerce website using dreamweaver?

    Sure, if you have the requisite coding skills.  Out of the box, DW has no such module.
    Best advice, use a 3rd party shopping cart like PayPal or Asecurecart.net. Or purchase a DW e-commerce extension like Cartweaver.  Or, use Business Catalyst to build your site (includes hosting & shopping cart module).

  • How to insert paid video download on my Dreamweaver website

    Hi All,
    I would like to sell my documentary videos and other merchandise through my website.  The site has been successfully published for several years, so publishing it is not the problem.  I need to know what I must do to enable people to download something from my site, but pay for it first.  I have looked at e-commerce extensions for Dreamweaver, and am willing to go that route, but I don't understand the process of inserting a downloadable file on the site.  Is the video file just inserted like a PDF file and linked through an html link?  If I connect with PayPal and have access to their payment source, can I somehow insert my video download on my site without letting people download it for free -- they would go to PayPal and pay and then return to my site for the download? I am working on a Mac Pro with Snow Leopard 10.6.4 and have Adobe CS3 Design Premium with Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, etc. and I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMMER -- I only work at the basic level in Dreamweaver and know enough to publish my site. Is there a better solution to this problem like another e-commer site for video downloads?  ITunes doesn't handle independent videos.  Thanks to all who reply.  Small Town Gal

    PayLoadz is a commercial solution.  They handle the digital downloads and process payments via PayPal, Google Checkout, etc... for a %.

  • I need DW CS3 or CS4 useful links

    Hi everyone,
    I need to use Dreamweaver CS4 and ASP.NET 2.0 and C# and MS SQL 2005 or MS SQL 2008 to build a shopping cart website for my client.
    If you know any links (i.e., how to connect the DW CS4/CS3 to the MS SQL 2005 database) that are useful for DW CS4 or DW CS3 with ASP.NET. Then please let me know.
    Thanks in advance,
    May

    Given that Adobe no longer sells DW CS3 or CS4, I don't think you'll find links to old software except through a 3rd party distributor (buyer beware).
    Look at Microsoft's Expression Web if you're committed to working in ASP.net environment.
    http://www.microsoft.com/expression/products/StudioWebPro_Overview.aspx
    I think you're foolish to build a shopping cart from scratch.  Honestly, you don't know how much you don't know until you're neck deep in it.  The server security & PCI (payment card industry) compliance issues alone could kill your business before you get off the ground.  Don't bite off more than you can chew.

  • Connection webserver with non webbased databeases

    Hello,
    I am a student and I am busy with my final paper. It is about webshops for existing companies who wants to start a webshop next to their ordinary business.
    Many face as a problem to connect their database or ERP system to the webserver. I notice on this SAP site several forums concerning eCommerce.
    I have a few questions concerning this.
    -     Is the eCommerce from SAP completely web based, or is/can it connect with non-webbased databases?
    -     If so, should that the non-webbases database be a SAP applications or any kind of database?
    -     How is the connection been made with the webserver an database. Is a specific software, like XML, being used as interface between the two systems?
    -     If the eCommerce from SAP cannot connect with a non-webbases database. What solution would be recommended for Companies to establisch such a connection?
    Is there also any documentation available that shows how this works?
    With kind regards,
    Tjerk Heikens

    - Is the eCommerce from SAP completely web based, or is/can it connect with non-web based databases?
    SAP E-Commerce application is web based, however, there is no actual database in the web server for this application other than for storing simple application configuration. All the business data comes from an existing SAP backend. The backend could be a SAP-CRM system or a SAP-ERP system.
    - If so, should that the non-webbases database be a SAP applications or any kind of database?
    The non-web based database or what I call as the backend can either be SAP-CRM or SAP-ERP only.
    - How is the connection been made with the webserver an database. Is a specific software, like XML, being used as interface between the two systems?
    The web application in question is Java based. To connect to the backend databases, SAP uses a Java Connector also knows as JCo. JCo comes with API to connect to SAP systems and execute function modules and exchange data by executing function modules.
    - If the eCommerce from SAP cannot connect with a non-web based database. What solution would be recommended for Companies to establish such a connection?
    Some Java based connectors or web services. Though it is theoretically possible to design a 3rd party Backend Layer and connect to non-SAP databases, the work involved may be more complex than developing a new custom Java based eCommerce web application with those 3rd party databases.
    Is there also any documentation available that shows how this works?
    You can always refer to the [CRM E-Commerce Extension Guide|http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000647973&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202&_OBJECT=011000358700000469462006E] which explains in detail the architecture and design concepts. • Shopping Cart - Help?

    I'm new to web design, and self taught, so go easy on me, haha. I have a site up, that sells organic mattresses and I need to add a shopping cart to it so customers can purchase online. I've added a buy now button and I want that to take them to another page where they can customize the bed and then purchase it online. You can look at it if you'd like; www.dremata.com
    I have a google checkout account, which comes with a shopping cart widget but it's limited and I need a shopping cart with more options/more customizeable because there are a lot of different options the customer can pick that effect price.
    I've been googling shopping carts for 6 hours now. Everything I've found turns out to be an entire online store. Which I'm not looking for, because I've already designed my website and set up the product pages. I'm just looking to add a shopping cart. I can't, for the life of me, find a premade shopping cart that I can just add to my site. At this point, I'm assuming I'm really ignorant on the subject and you can't do that?
    I don't know too much about shopping carts, or how they work. So if anyone could help me out, let me know what my options are and the different ways to add a shopping cart, I'd really appreciate it!
    - Thanks

    You've made a common newbie mistake of putting the wagon ahead of the horse.  Ideally, you should build your site pages within your shopping cart system.  IOW, the product IDs, descriptions, prices, options, etc... are stored in server-side databases.  Content is dynamically populated to your site pages.  This is the price of doing things on your own without first consulting an expert.  All is not lost though.  Find out which programming languages your server supports (ASP, PHP, ColdFusion...)
    Have a look at Cartweaver and Web Assist  They each have e-commerce extensions that can be used with DW.
    Good luck,

  • SCA Files for ICSS Modification

    Hi,
    I need to modify the ICSS screen. Where can I get the corresponding .sca file name for the same?

    Hi Veera,
    For functional information, please refer to the information found on http://help.sap.com.
    For techical information and development/extension information, the best information can be found in the e-Commerce Extension guide.  There is no specific guide for ICSS.  Technically the two applications are the same so you can apply the same concepts.

  • Icss set up n configuration

    hi crm gurus,
    i am new to icss and we have the requirement for our client to set up icss.
    According to my understanding icss is completely based on internet.Our client alredy using ecommerce tool now my doubt is if a customer want to raise complaint do we need top create a separate  URL to
    access  icss?
    what are the configurations n customizations r required to set up an icss?
    if  any one of you have document please share that will be great  help for me.
    thanks.
    madhuri.

    Hi ,
    As you said ecommerce is up and running  then I assume the SAP Netweaver Development Infrastructure is ready.
    Like Ecommerce application the ICSS application is hosted on the SAP J2EE engine .
    You will require the following SCA files for ICSS to be running.
    sap.com_CUSTCRMPRJ--(this is our custom application we need to create project)
    sap.com_SAP-CRMAPP--(java related stuff)
    sap.com_SAP-CRMWEB---(ICSS Web Modification(JSPs))
    After the custom application is created in NWDeveloperStudio , it needs to be deployed .
    Then we need to do the XCM settings to connect the application with the CRM backend.
    For techical information and development/extension information, the best information can be found in the e-Commerce Extension guide. There is no specific guide for ICSS. Technically the two applications are the same so you can apply the same concepts.]
    Please let me know ur id , i will mail the doc.

  • E-commerce 4.0 extensions

    Hi gurus!
    I have implemented the note 671711, but now I have problems to get those extensions back.
    The code, which puts extension back to item, seems to be alright.
    for (int i = 0; i < posd.getItemListData().size(); i++) {
         ItemData item = posd.getItemListData().getItemData( i );
         Object extensionValue = extensionItemValues.get(
                                                item.getTechKey());
          if (extensionValue != null) {
            if (log.isDebugEnabled())
                log.debug("found extension on item level :" + item.getTechKey() + ", " + extensionValue);
            item.addExtensionData("MYITEMKEY", extensionValue);
    I also added extra debugging to see, what extension values are in the item. Now for some reason those extension values are in ItemData object, but not in the ordersimulate page in Item object.
    Do You know why?
    Kind Regards,
    Juha Huotari

    Hi Artemis,
    probably you should review the 'SAP E-Commerce 7.0 Dev. and Extension Guide: Tutorial' and 'SAP E-Commerce 7.0 Development and Extension Guide'. The guides are available in the http://service.sap.com/instguides (check the 'Operate' section for SAP CRM 7.0).

  • Web Service Access to a extension field

    Hello All:
       Scoping against solution capability, how easy, or at all possible, is to access a extension fields to a native ByD business Objects via web services? In my specific case, the E-Commerce Sales Order Creation Web Service.
       But the question is pretty general, This can be a data retrieve web services as well? Any limitations? does it needed to be rebuild by SAP? or can we generate them by ourselves?
       Also, if in future new extension required on web services, can this process be done after implementation and go live? Without too much trouble?
       Any documentation will be greatly appreciated! Thank You!

    This is doubtful as it is a Standard service (we use it for several different solutions).. and is the same across all tenants and I do not think it can be applied as a custom one off..
    asking your dev coach would probally be your best bet.
    Another solution for you would be to have a simple Read,Update Service you write that just deals with your extension fields... so after an order is created you can update your field on the sales order, or read the value given a specific sales order.
    Unless this has changed it is my understanding that you have to add the Extension field via the Development studio not the Key user tools if you wish to have access to it in the Studio for releasing a webservice like I described above.(Most my work so far has involved integrations and the standard  webservices)

    In order to find the PerformanceMonitor web app, the ConsoleExt needs to
    examine your classpath to get the appropriate WLHOME. It does this by
    searching for .../server/lib/weblogic.jar. Please make sure your CLASSPATH
    is correct and matches where PerformanceMonitor is installed. For example,
    the path to .../server/lib/weblogic.jar is the same as to ../common/perf. In
    my world, they both happen to be d:\bea\weblogic81.
