E-commerce in iWeb without Paypal

We currently have a website where we don't use Paypal. We use basically a feedback form where the customer inputs their information and we recieve it via email. Below is some screenshots of what we are currently using. I am working on moving the website over to iWeb and I would like to incorporate something similar into the iWeb site I am working. I am not very knowledagble with html, but if someone could provide me with tutorials/step by step instructions I would be able to manage that. Thank-you in advance!

Just drag an image of a button onto the iWeb page, select it and create a hyperlink to the form page. See this page for an example...
http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Internet-Music-Sell-Distribute/Website-Buy-Page. html
On this page there is also a link to a "how to" on creating buttons.
The HTML Snippet widget can be added using the Insert drop down menu or by dragging it in from the widgets media panel. Paste code intot it an click "Apply". Example...

  • IWeb without using mobileme??

can i create a website and later get a domain name and publish the site i created in iWeb without using mobileme or anything like that?? sorry, new to all this and don't want to get going and realize i need a mobileme account

To add to Roddy's post - these are the features that will be lost by not hosting on MobileMe:
Features Unavailable When Publishing to a Non-Mac Server:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Blog RSS Subscription
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ Enhanced slideshows
Most can be overcome on the 3rd party server except for the Enhanced slideshows. Don't ask me what that is because I've not been able to find out (I use MMe). You can use a good, strong 3rd party blogging service and embed your blog site in one of your site's pages: Embed a Site Within an iWeb Page. For password protection most commercial hosting services offer that feature, for either the whole site or individual pages.

Yes. You want to add photos from a folder on the desktop to an existing iWeb album page? Just bring up the page in iWeb and drag the photo into the group of thumbnails that are displayed on the page and move it to where you want it locate

  • Can I use iWeb without .mac?

I can't figure out if I can create a web site with iWeb without having a .mac account. Apple implies, but is not stating it conclusively, just recommending it:
"iWeb publishing requires Internet and webserver access (.Mac recommended)".
I have no need for .mac and have web hosting elsewhere. Does anyone know if I can just use iWeb to create my website and publish elsewhere?

PS Here's a note on tips for this:

Hello Karlos and welcome to the forum!
PayPal offers a landing page upon purchase but you are only allowed to set up one landing page so the idea of having a separate landing page for each item is out of the question. Basically the one landing page you are allowed is a link you can click on to go back to your website after the purchase confirmation page of PayPal which shows receipt of purchase item number, quantity, shipping address (if applicable) etc.
The landing page must abide by PalPal terms including certain criteria that must be shown on your landing page. Further detail is available on PayPal website.
The person who purchases a product is emailed a receipt and you are also emailed a copy of the receipt. Theoretically you could setup an email address rule in Mail so when you receive an email from someone who makes a purchase you automatically email them a URL to download the image or you can send it as an attachment through the rule setup through Mail.app
The downside is you have to rely on the Mail rule to function properly it might be a little bit of trial and error to get the correct rules setup for it setting rule variables such as item number, etc. Also depending on how many digital download packages you have it could be cumbersome to maintain and setup all the files and related Mail rules for all of them. Also you would have to have your computer on with Mail.app running to have the application process the received emails into Mail rules and send a reply with attachment. If you had your computer off overnight and Mail wasn't running to process the rule and send an email upon purchase a customer would have to wait until you turned your computer on to get their download purchase.
The ideal method for this situation is to use watermarked images as preview on website and use php to require account creation and login on your website and have visitors login and view their account information where they are able to download their purchases through encrypted link. The link cannot be copied and given to someone else since it is encrypted and even if it weren't encrypted account login is required to access the file anyway. Also php can set up so visitors who purchase can only download the file a certain number of times. You can have it so they can only download the file once, twice, 10 times. PHP is the very best method in this situation no question the list of pros regarding this matter are endless.
PayPal can still be used in php method as a payment gateway. Unless you have a merchant account setup with your bank you can use other payment gateways like authorze.net or similar to make the payment transition from ones credit card to your bank account. PayPal can be used to create shopping carts for physical items but if you want to have a commerce site for digital download material you can still use PayPal but there's a lot of ingenuity involved. With regard to iWeb it's a little out of the applications' ability. I can easily say this would be a lot of work for the inexperienced user.
    Best of luck to you.

  • E-commerce on iWeb?

Is there an easy way to set up a simple e-commerce function in iWeb, or do you have to use something like PayPal?
Can you drag or import the PayPal button into the iWeb site, so that the design of the page looks the same as the rest of the site?
This is my first iWeb site.

  • Shopping cart in iweb NO PAYPAL

I would like to insert a shopping cart WITHOUT using paypal. I know how to create the "add to shopping cart" buttons, but can not figure out how to get them to link to an actual shopping cart page that should total everything up. I will be authorizing the payments from my office so I only need a cart that adds up the total and sends the credit card info to my email (like with forms).
Is there a way to do this without going through a third party?
    Thank you

I doubt forms send credit card info by email, usually in plain text.
Me think something a tiny bit more secure order handling is needed.
    Here's the alternative.
Put your bank account number on your webpage with the following line :
Send me the money and I'll send you the merchandise.
There are lots of gullible people out there, so you will never be short on customers.
    Start small, think big.

  • Using iweb without Mac Me ?

    Hi,
im new to all this and trying to use iweb to create a new site for myself.
i cannot publish because Mac Me is no longer available and i dont have a previous subscription.
i would like to use Mac to publish my site without going external is this still possible?
i have read about going through another hositing site.
but i would rather stay using Mac programs and Hostings if i still can.
    Can anyone help???

Unfortunately there isn't a way to publish to mobileme unless you already have an account there, and even if you did I wouldn't suggest getting it all set up and then having to change it next july.
I'd recommend purchasing a domain name and hosting from somewhere like Lunarpages.com and then they will provide you with the FTP settings to load your page up onto.
A good link for using iWeb with another host is:
    http://www.ehow.com/how_4819834_publish-iweb-mobileme.html
The main thing is that you want to get yourself set up with something that will be around and supported for quite a long time so you don't have to redo things again.
Keep in mind that from the looks of it iWeb isn't being developed anymore... at least get yourself publishing to another service.  It will take effort and work, but it will be your best option.

  • Can I reinstall iWeb without losing my current domain??

Somehow I have lost the newer templates that came with one of the updates. I think it was with 1.1.1, but I don't know. Does anyone know? I tried to update with that, but I already the most recent that just came out. Several weeks ago, I didn't completely reinstall it, but just put my iLife CD ROM back in for another application and reinstalled that, but I didn't remove it before that. I think when I did that it installed the older version without the newer templates and now that i just updated the newest version I can't go back and get the one with the templates. Does this make any sense????
Someone help, as I really want those templates back. What do I do.

    Jason,
I guess I would try deleting your current install of iWeb and then reinstall from your iLife DVD. But getting to your question, your Domain file should be safe through the reinstallation process. Just to be sure, though, and in the interest of backing up your work, you should go ahead and make a copy of your Domain file before you reinstall iWeb. Put it somewhere for safe keeping.
So the series of steps I would recommend...
    1. Delete your current iWeb application (just drag the iWeb icon to the trash)
    2. Reinstall iWeb 1.0 from the iLIfe '06 DVD
    3. Download and install the iWeb 1.1.1 update image here: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/iweb111.html
    4. Download and install the iWeb 1.1.2 updater here: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/iweb112.html

  • Iweb and Paypal issue

    Hello,
I'm trying to create a website for my mother in law so she can sell her pictures online. The idea is people look at a picture on her website, click on it and click on a Paypal button to add it to their cart and purchase it (they can choose the size and she will print them and ship them to the client).
I used Iweb (but if I find a better website builder I will switch) to create a website but when I try to incorporate a Paypal button I can not associate this button to one picture only. It can of "seat" there on my page and if you click on a picture to enlarge it the button is not associated to that particular picture.
Does anybody knows how to associate one button to one picture and make sure that button appear on the correct page? May be it's not even possible to do it on Iweb.
I also tried Sandvox and Rapidveawer with limited success.
Thanks for any idea you may offer.
    Sincerely
    Thierry

  • IWeb without iPhoto

I'm new to iWeb and want to use iWeb 2009 to create a family web page with photos, video clips, blog, etc. I'm a little confused as to how iWeb & iPhoto work together. I have a mac.com acct. (now mobileme) and want to use that to serve my web page. After publishing my the web page, to my mobileme accout, I want to delete the photos and videos from iPhoto on my MacPro laptop to free up hard drive space. 1). Can I delete the photos from iPhoto without losing them on my published iWeb web page if I published the site to my mobileme acct.?
2). If not, is there a way to do so?
3). I can't find an iWeb manual online (just Apple's video tutorials and a pdf file for old version of iWeb using soon to be obsolete mac.com. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

The photos added to iWeb photo pages, even those that are setup to let the viewer download full sized versions, are not the quality of the original file. What with how inexpensive external hard drives are they are a much better solution of backing up your original image files or running your iPhoto library k(and iTunes if desired) from there to free up the boot drive.

  • IWeb without dot mac

How do you post to a domain if you do not wnat to get dot mac. I have a buddy who is purchasing a domain for my piodcast and he asked if i could be the webmaster and create the site. i would love to but all the tutorials for iWeb only point me to usuing dot mac.
Can it be done without it?

-While in iWeb, publish to a folder
-Upload that folder and the index.html file that is generated to the web host using FTP software (Cyberduck is one example)
Note that you will lose some .mac specific features including: password protection, enhanced slideshows, and the ability to comment on blogs. (There may be one or two more I am forgetting). Most of them (but not password protection) can be achieved through other means.
If you search the forums here, you should find more info, including a link to a helpful site on publishing to other hosts. I don't have it handy or I'd post it for you. (I only publish to .mac)

  • IWeb without .mac

To Whom it May Concern, I would like to learn to make websites using iWeb, but I would not like to use it with .mac. Are they are other ways to publish websites without using .mac?

Yes, I do that for my site. All you do is "Publish to a folder" and the upload the results to your host via an FTP client such as YummyFTP or Cyberduck.
Here is a helpful resource posted on a previous thread:

  • E-commerce using NWDS without NWDI

    Good day!
I must develop (in fact, just custom) an e-commerce application using NWDS. Unfortunately, there is no NWDI available to this project. Is it possible to deploy the application under such condition? In afirmative case, what would be the major drawbacks of such approach?
    Thanks in advance,
    Diego

    Hi Diego,
Yes can create and deploy your project or DC without NWDI. YOu can just create projects or in case you are creating DCs you can do so in "LocalDevelopment" Development Configuration.
Drawback is that you cannot do shared development. With NWDI you get a repository (DTR)  where you can create your DCs and your teammate can also modify that. Also NWDI provides CBS and CMS for Component Build Service and Change Management Service. YOu will not be able use these.
CBS builds components and their dependants on demand and provides ready-to-use libraries
and deployables for developers and runtime systems.
CMS is responsible for the transport of software within the landscape,
    including source code and libraries.
In case you still want to do shared development you can download open source plugins like subclipse(sub version repository). Install the plugin and you can share the code for modification.
    Hope this answers your question.
    Regards
    Pankaj
