i am soon to start a site for a friend, who owns their own shop. they want to sell their products on line.
can anyone recommend an e-commerce plug in?
i don't want the site to be hosted by them, or use their templates. i just want a checkout, catalogue and inventry control system. help with credit card payments would also be good.

  • Sales Order Integration with e-Commerce Solution Venda

To all you gurus out there
My client is implementing the e-commerce solution Venda to process Credit Card Sales.
In all the posts and information I have read, there is a) integration required between the e-commerce solution
Q1 - Is the integration between e Commerce to ERP SD?
Q2 - The integration will create a Sales Order in SD with Credit Card Processing information?  I will need to configure the Credit Card Processing in ERP?
Q3 - My client wants to collect the credit card payment from the Customer at the time of order placement and not at time of delivery.  This creates the problem of how the pre-payment posting is created at time of Sales Order create.
Has anyone encountered this requirement and how was this resolved?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Lauren
I don't have experience with Venda, but I have worked on SAP CRM internet sales and home grown E commerce solutions, hence feel qualified to answer you.
Q1 - Is the integration between e Commerce to ERP SD?
Ans: Yes. Because orders created in the E commerce stores pass to ERP  via Middleware and hence both ERP and Ecommerce should have common master data ( customers, Materials, Pricing) and configuration, esp. Pricing procedures, partner functions, Availability/credit checks should be similar,
Q2 - The integration will create a Sales Order in SD with Credit Card Processing information? I will need to configure the Credit Card Processing in ERP?
Ans: Customers will create orders on your E-commerce site (Stores).  You can capture and validate the credit card and get authorization from clearing center etc. on the web itself.  Alternately you may just collect the credit card info from the customer and pass it along with the order to SAP where it will get  validated/authorized. However the order will come over to ERP  with credit card info and get fulfilled there.  So you need to configure ERP for credit card processing. Especially here:  SPRO/IMG/Sales and Distribution/Billing/Payment Cards and also in credit  and Riskmanagement (Forms Of Payment Guarantee).
Also I am not sure Venda takes care of Credit card processing with your bank/clearing house. Usually there will be one more vendor/software and integration with that is needed for both ERP as well as E commerce software (Venda).
Q3 - My client wants to collect the credit card payment from the Customer at the time of order placement and not at time of delivery. This creates the problem of how the pre-payment posting is created at time of Sales Order create.
Ans: This is standard process and both SAP and your credit card processing software I talked about will be fully geared to do this. What happens is that a pre-authorization is take at the time of order and it will be checked again at Delivery for validity and so on.
    Go through this documentation:

Hope this helps. Let me know.

  • Can't view my iweb 08 page

    Hi Everyone...
I have created a single front page for my website using iWeb 08. I've followed a cPanel tutorial on uploading iWeb08 files to my host server. Once created it was saved to a folder in the Sites folder. I uploaded via FTP using Cyberduck. The files appeared for a short time on the internet but 3 of the links weren't activated. I fixed this up and saved the file. Republished the files uploaded into the public_html but when I checked the URL it now shows the following message:
    Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /sdreams/index.html on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
A search on the internet found this:
When attempting to view your website, the following message is displayed in your browser:
    Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /sdreams/index.html on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Directory listings are disabled on our servers as a precautionary security measure. Place an index file (index.htm, index.html, index.php, etc) in the directory and refresh the page. The page (index file) should now display as expected.
If you would like to enable directory listings for a particular directory, create a file called .htaccess, and place the following contents inside:
    Options Indexes
    (or Options +Indexes)
Upload the .htaccess file to the directory for which you need directory listings enabled.
I have tried uploading the files using cPanel's webdisk and also Easy iWeb Publisher - they all work, upload the files correctly but nothing happens after that. Most of the site will be run via the e-commerce but I wanted this one single page as a welcome.
I contacted my host support and they got back to me with a "You should find this issue resolved shortly".... but still 3 days later the same message appears.
ps: I noticed that file size of the index.html outside of my s/dreams folder is different than the index.html file inside the folder. Is that what could be causing the problem?
Which index.html is uploaded - the one inside your created site or the one that sits outside?
If I haven't explained it correctly or you need more information - please let me know. =)
My OS - Mac OSx SnowLeopard
Firewall - I've turned that off to see if that worked but nothing
    Cache -I've emptied that also
OSx FileSharing (FTP access) - default is OFF - should I turn it ON. Though, I haven't had any other problems uploading via any 3rd party FTP's.
    regards
    Darlene

I was able to resolve this issue... iweb 08 was working perfectly... it was a hosting issue. They have finally fixed it up... all looks good.
    http://www.snickerdoodledreams.com
if you'd like to have a peek.
I've closed the store to most of the links at the moment because i've got one more little thing to resolve within the actual e-commerce software but at least the front page is up and not full of errors!!!

  • A Basic Guide on Adding a WordPress Blog to OpenCart

Blogging is an effective and inexpensive way of engaging with your customers. Creating blog posts constantly provide search engines fresh content to index, which eventually help set you up as an authority in your domain. Blogging help you connect with your target audience and build trust within your own industry, by providing valuable information about your business.
When it comes to build an e-commerce website, an unfortunate reality is that some people believe that blogging isn’t necessary for e-stores or e-commerce website. But, that’s a wrong notion!
As a matter of fact, it is more important to create blogs when you’re selling something, owing to the fact that customers doubt buying online. And so, offering products at lower or discounted prices may not even work in drawing your customers’ attention. However, having a blog section in your e-store can help you create brand loyalty. But, the problem is that e-commerce sites don’t come integrated with blogging functionality.
Luckily, there are some great blogging platforms out there that can be integrated within your e-shop. WordPress is one such excellent and the most widely used platform for creating blogs. Once you’ve decided to integrate a WP blog, it is also very important to ensure that you’re using a reliable and coveted e-commerce platform. Most of us have a tendency to use Magento platform for building online stores or sites, however, for creating a small or medium-size e-store or e-shop OpenCart best fit your needs.
Through this post, I would like to talk about how you can integrate WordPress powered blogs to OpenCart using Wordpress Blog Feeds extension. But before proceeding further let’s first have an overview of the OpenCart e-commerce platform.
    OpenCart – A Brief Introduction
OpenCart is open-source software that helps set up an e-commerce site cost-effectively. It is an ideal choice for small and medium-size merchants for creating their online site. It is lightweight e-commerce software and is easier to handle. Just like Magento e-commerce platform. OpenCart also comes with tons of extensions (or add-ons) that help embed extra functionality into an online store.
    Overview of Pre-requisites
Let's have a quick overview of pre-requisites you will need for integrating a WP powered blog in OpenCart:
WordPress version compatible with your OpenCart installation.
    Access to cPanel.
Acquire ZIP file for the “WordPress Blog Feed” extension from the  OpenCart site.
Install vQmod folder because the extension we are using for the integration requires this folder to operate.
    How to Install WordPress Blog?
Step 1 – First, you will need to login-in into your Cpanel (or you can even choose to use any FTP client in case you've knowledge about working with FTP).
Step 2 – In this step, you need to upload “Wordpress Blog Feeds” extension zip file into your OpenCart directory.
Step 3 – Next, from your cPanel logged-in screen you can view an option “File manager”, from there click on the zip file where your OpenCart installation is being uploaded. And then, choose EXTRACT to uncompress the extension zip file. Make sure to save your uncompressed file in the vQmod folder.
For example: When you access and open your OpenCart URL or folder location/vqmod/xml/, the file you need to extract will be named as vba-blog-feed-to-article1.xml
Now that you have extracted the file, simply navigate to the vQmod folder and click on vba-blog-feed-to-article1.xml. And then, select EDIT. This will return text that will look something like:
Once all changes to the file has been made, remember to click on the “Save” button in order to save the file entries.
    Summing Up!
Irrespective of whether you’re running a small business or a medium-size e-commerce business, blogging frequently will help you build trust and enable you to connect with your customers. Put it simply, an online store selling products can take advantage of blog to drive more traffic to it. Moreover, by writing blog posts about your offerings and its qualities may encourage a user to access your site. If you’re using OpenCart software to build an e-commerce site, then you can choose to integrate WP blog in it. Hopefully reading this post will prove a good starting point, helping you become familiar with the integration process of WordPress blog into your OpenCart site.

    Hello,
You can try adding a wordpress blog to your Muse site. You should be able to do this. There shouldn't be any issue with it's functionality (You may need to work some more on the design part - This is just in case there is some issue with the wordpress code and the code generated by Muse in the backend). <p><span style="color: #ffffff;">So many of the choices out there that &ldquo;claim&rdquo; they have more features for your money fall short once you&rsquo;ve signed up. What is actually being offered to you is a plain &ldquo;vanilla&rdquo; web site that looks just like many of the others you&rsquo;ve seen. When you start working to get your store up and running you depend on reading documents from the hosting company&rsquo;s web site. If you have to call for help you wait on hold and when you finally get someone on the phone they can&rsquo;t answer your questions. You finally get your web site set up, your products loaded, but no one buys anything. You can&rsquo;t tell if people are really even able to find your store. After spending hundreds of dollars you&rsquo;re frustrated and angry. You should be. Now wouldn&rsquo;t it be great to have a site that was all set up for you, ready for your products to be entered? And of course since you&rsquo;ve decided to market your products online, it would be great if this site had a way to put your products in front of people looking for them. And last but certainly not least, it would be really nice to be able to pick up the phone and have a real person answer that is knowledgeable and really cares about helping you. It isn&rsquo;t a dream any more, it has become reality.</span></p>

<p><span style="color: #ffffff;">The software running the Mall site and all of the stores is new written by a commercial software company that specializes in e-commerce. Although the software is new it is extremely stable and has features other e-commerce software can&rsquo;t match.</span></p>
    <h4> </h4>
    <h3><span style="color: #ff9900;">Feature Rich</span></h3>
<p><span style="color: #ffffff;">Getting past the shopping cart which is the one common thread among all e-commerce software there are many store owner and customer centric features. To start, you need to get your products in front of people that are looking for them. The system uploads your products to Google Merchant Center (formerly Froogle). If you change a price, an item goes out of stock the system automatically updates Google. The software has the ability to use almost any payment gateway. We chose PayPal as our initial offering since almost everyone is familiar with it. The shipping portion of the software allows a customer, in real time to find out (through an interface to the major shipping companies) what it costs for all of the shipping options available. Automated email communication with your customers which is triggered by you processing your orders. Unlike other e-commerce offerings, we do not limit how many products you can market or how many photos you use. The software allows you to create &ldquo;configurable&rdquo; products (multiple colors and sizes), bundled products (like custom built computers) where the customer can choose which options or sizes and colors they want. The system takes care of price differences as well with these types of product. And finally, although your online store is a business and businesses require time and energy to be successful the system emails you when you receive an order. You don&rsquo;t have to stare at the screen waiting for orders. By now you&rsquo;re probably thinking this is going to cost a fortune. Well, it doesn&rsquo;t. We charge a $75.00 one time setup fee which also gives you 2 dedicated hours of training when you start. Each month you&rsquo;ll be billed $50.00 and 3% (cumulative) of your transactions. The only other cost would be for templates to change the look and feel of your store. If you need an e-commerce site you owe it to yourself to talk it over with us.</span></p>
    <h4> </h4>
    <h3><span style="color: #ff9900;">Why A Virtual Mall?</span></h3>
<p><span style="color: #ffffff;">As with any other venture in life, strength comes in numbers or groups. People want &ldquo;one stop shopping&rdquo;, search engines love links and content rich sites. Grouping online stores creates an environment where customers will jump from store to store. Your products will be seen by more people. We also give you a site where you can see not just how many people, but where they are, where they came from, what search terms they used and how long they stayed along with much more information critical to make your business a success. The concept is simple, we do all the configuration and support you. You focus on your business. The link provided below is the front end of the mall. Go have a look, go through the stores. When you&rsquo;re ready to move forward with a store or want more information, call or email us. The systems running the mall are owned by the company and are located on the company&rsquo;s property. We have up to 15MB of network bandwidth which is scalable to 30MB (that&rsquo;s quite a bit). As the mall grows we will monitor and add additional systems and network bandwidth to maintain the same level of service you enjoy today.</span></p>
I've tried everything I can think of to get this woking 100% and am getting a bit frustrated with it.  Any help would be really appreciated!!!!
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
It is hard to guess where you have gone wrong with you modified CSS without actually seeing the code.
Have a look here for more background info.
    I hope this helps.

  • How do I unzip files on a mac?

Does tiger have an application that can unzip files?
If not, does anyone have any software recomendations?
I want to download and unzip Cube Cart e-commerce software.
    Thanks,
    Ed

If the software is not made for the Mac, unzipping it might not do very much good, unless you get an emulator, virtualization or Boot Camp style solution. There are e-commerce solutions made for the Mac you can find http://guide.apple.com/ http://www.macupdate.com/ http://www.versiontracker.com/ that are compressed in a way that the built-in Mac software for decompression can handle for the most part. Occasionally, you'll find an old software package that was compressed in a Stuffit format which since Tiger has not had a built-in decompressor software. For that you'll want:

  • If you have made a website with a shop...

... Then what is the best way to go about making it easy for the average user to add more items once your job as the web designer is done?
Are there any good pre-made shop facilities to use or do I have to create a whole user interface for a non-coder user to add more clothing to their shop?
Thank you for your time, this is the first site I've coded that would require the user to regularly edit the shop.

Stay away from free e-commerce software and stay far away from Zen cart. Often these free software packages are buggy and there is no support. You can spend hours or even days trying to solve a problem that could be solved in minutes with the right code and support.
Oh so true.   You get what you pay for.
And I would further add that whichever cart you choose, it must be PCI compliant.

  • ATG learning by doing and looking code

    Hi all,
I have experience in Java development, I want to learn regarding ATG . I know there are documentation and training also available but i want to look into the code and have hands on. Most of the code should available to debug in the package i believe.
So please guide me how to setup and my development environment and this is not for any commercial use i will use this only for my training.
where to get the ATG package for free as i tryied downloading but it didnt allowed me. and how to setup my DB and App server.
    Thanks and I really appreciate.
    Gomez

    Hi Gomez,
it is not allowed to decompile ATG code. Some source files are provided in the src directories of the ATG modules e.g, DAS/src. You are free to study and modify the source files provided.
You should be able to download the ATG Commerce software from:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/apps-tech/atg-web-commerce-1740796.html
A good place to start learning ATG is the Commerce Reference Application, this application is a complete working Commerce application that you can install and modify. The application demonstrates Best Practices when working with ATG. The documentation for this can be found at:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35319_01/CRS.10-2/index.html
There is a short section in the documentation on how to get the Eclipse plugin for ATG:

  • Addled Brain- which direction to go in setting up a t-shirt e-commerce site. Please help wise people!

    Hello,
I have a little experience from 10 years ago building web sites, but things have changed a lot (but i am very good at teaching myself).  Can anyone advise me on the way to go?
I want to create a t-shirt e-commerce site and have no money to pay anyone to make the site (maybe when the business is flying i will, but for now) - i am designing it myself and have all the design elements done, but do not know the best way to implement it given all the technologies out there; and do not want to go one way, to find out my efforts were wasted much later.  Here's my thinking...
The main site contains the t-shirts.  When a user clicks on a picture it takes them to a 't shirt options' page where they can configure the design (put the design on the pocket, the back or the front in the center etc).  I was going to create check boxes for them to do this which when clicked, will change the picture to show them how it looks.  This means i will create picture for every possible check box option and load that into the 'this is what you t shirt looks like' space (easy enough and i can do that i think).  I will do that for every t-shirt on the main page.
But I was thinking, could I just have a plane t-shirt in the 'this is what you t shirt looks like' space and using a picture of the design,  just reposition it and resize it using (and this is where my knoweldge is small at the moment) jqeury or some other language, or even CSS and divs?  What would be the best appraoch?  This way i would only have to create the design and the blank T-shirt and use code to position it to represent the final product.  Would it better to use a CMS such a Joomla to do this (this seems very complicated)?  Before i go any further than the design i thought i would ask you clever people.
Thanks if you got this far...
    Conundrum part 2:
The user will then click proceed to checkout where i will use a shopping cart system (probably Zen cart because that is on the hosting company's server that intend to use (unless suggested otherwise)).  I will need each version of the t-shirt to have a unique product ID that relates to a database that contains pricing options and this will be sent to the 'zen cart' and that will process the transaction.  Is my understanding correct?
Many thanks for any suggestions.  Learnign one or two  things (CSS and DW) is OK, learning 5 things at once is making my head hurt! I have become confused

Zen cart is free.  And you get what you pay for -- software that is hard to work with, not very good, poorly supported and has many security vulnerabilities which is why hackers love to exploit it.
Get a real shopping cart. Money well spent.  Building one yourself is risky and requires expert skill with server-security, data encryption, PHP, MySql, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PCI compliance, SSL certificates, etc...   You'll drive yourself crazy trying to learn everything you don't know.
UltraCart is easy to set-up and they have a free 30 day trial so you can test before you decide.  There are many PCI compliant commercial carts you can use.   If you have a merchant bank account, start with your bank to find out which gateways and processors they require you to use.  That will narrow your search to carts that work with your payment gateway.
As for your site, keep it simple, semantic, user friendly and responsive.

  • Mac OS X 10.4 - Software RAID 10???

    Hello All...
As a motion graphics artist by trade and a musician at night, I am constantly faced with the on-going dilemma of my storage needs. As you may probably already know, these two activities eat up drive space and require a speedy storage solution as well.
    Here's my current setup:
    - PowerMac G5 Dual 2GHz (PCI-X) w/ 3GB of RAM.
    - Sonnet Tempo-X eSATA 4x4 PCI-X card.
    - MacGurus Burly 4 bay SATA enclosure.
    - 2 250GB WD drives in the Burly enclosure.
I have the two 250GB WD drives in the external SATA enclosure software-RAIDed together to form one RAID 0 (striped) volume, using the OS X disk utility RAID feature. While that has resulted in an excellent, fast, big disk... I am starting to run into errors, and starting to lose sleep over the fact that the current setup is not redundant / reliable.
My initial solution was to buy two more disks, RAID them together as another striped volume and run backups from the first two-disk WD striped volume to the new striped RAID. So, four disks, two striped raids with two disks each.... But when I called Sonnet Tech Support, the support guy said that OS X 10.4 has support for RAID 10. That changes everything! If I could fill the Burly enclosure with 4 of the same disks and software RAID 10 them together, I'd be in business... I think...
Does OS X 10.4 really allow you to create a software RAID 10???
If so, do you think this is the most ideal solution for what I'm working with?
Keep in mind, I'm working with a low budget. No, XServes/XServe-RAID is NOT an option!
    Any input is greatly appreciated!
    TIA

    Hi, noka.
Yes, it supports RAID 10. See "Disk Utility 10.5 Help: Protecting your data against hardware failure with a mirrored RAID set."
However, you may not get the performance you expect.
FWIW and IMO, unless one is running a high-volume transaction server with a 99.999% ("Five Nines") availability requirement, RAID is overkill. For example, unless you're running a bank, a brokerage, or a major e-commerce site, you're probably spending sums of time and money with RAID that could be applied elsewhere.
RAID is high on the "geek chic" scale, low on the practicality scale, and very high on the "complex to troubleshoot" scale when problems arise. The average user, even one in your lines of business, is better served by implementing a comprehensive Backup and Recovery solution and using it regularly.
    Good luck!
